They have fresh vegetables and are so affordable and their vegetables last long as well, theres not many but they have the main ones! Bought over 6 veggies paid less than $3! I came to take meat (goat paya) couple of days straight, yesterday they told to come tomorrow, so today I called and asked for it- they are telling to come tomorrow again only because they washed the machine, even though they have it. This location has had many Indian grocery stores change over the years... some good some nor so much.. but Coconut Hill was a definitely a better of the stores at this location. The quality of the groceries are great. Vegetables: The vegetables are fresh and of good quality. They have most of the Indian vegetables that my family needs beans, ocra, cucumber, spinach, cilantro, mint, radish, potatoes, Onions, bitter gourd and many more such fresh veggies. Meat : They have chicken, Country chicken, goat. they have some frozen fish too. Indian spices and groceries they have most necessary groceries for an Indian family from tea, to rice, lentils , dry snacks etc.. Lots of billing issues. Not just once but more than 4 times now. During the Pongal festival, I purchased a lot of items worth $200. Because of the previous experience, I was checking my bill and saw they charged me 15.98 for 2 items that I didn't purchase. When checked at the cashier he simply said it's by mistake. Instead of curry leaves they had charged me wrongly. This is not the first time for me. I had 4 similar experiences in the past. And even many of my friends had complained the same. This is small Indian grocery store that offers halal meat and Indian groceries. It's right across the street from Hafiz Meat Market and Barat Bazaar which carry similar items. There is a small selection of produce here and the price range is affordable. You can get halal chicken thighs for $5.89 a pound. They also have a butcher that cuts and dices the meat you choose. I'm glad they have halal beef that's freshly ground b/c I always have to drive to the other side of Fremont for quality halal meat. The store is small and a bit crowded plus it takes a long time to get the meat but I don't mind. read more

I was introduced to this store's first location in Fremont when I went searching for freshly shredded coconut. They now have a location in Union City which I walk to often. They carry many organic products like Strauss Milk, A2 Milk, eggs, Dal, rice, etc. They also carry some of the Ayurvedic digestive arishtams. The staff is friendly and helpful and I always feel welcome here. read more

This is a fairly new grocery store tucked away in a corner next to Kumon Math class. Let me warn you, this is a mini grocery store. The options are limited but you will find most of the essential items required at Indian household. The produce is fresh. Basic vegetables like: Tomatoes, Okra, Potatoes for example are available. You will find good selection of diary products, fresh and processed meat. They have a small selection of sweets, but they weren't as fresh as I had hoped. I did notice availability of biryanis and samosas. Store is a bit cramped, parking space is limited. Billing process can improve. The store owners were friendly and the pricing seems reasonable. The store is small maybe they can change the name coconut hole. This place is a great hole In the wall store. So anyways the Samosas here are absolutely delicious ... the veggies and herbs are always fresh at such a great price. They have nice assortment of sweets like suji ka halwa, Gulab Jamun and ladoo fresh made chapati. A nice assortment of panner cheeses and milk products. Once I did get an expired box of tea leaves but the owner quickly gave me a refund so just check the dates on teas and dried spices. read more

This is a brand new chain of coconut hill! I usually frequent the other chain in fremont on warm springs, but since I was nearby for dinner I decided to stop by. This is a significantly smaller location with less variety of produce, but the vegetables are just as fresh, even late at night when I went there. The owner let us in even at 9:40pm when we asked if they were open, even though they had closed at 9pm. The owner was a sweetheart, and even offered us samples of his pineapple malai sweet, which he called pineapple souffle, while we were at the checkout counter! He was advertising that they also serve food, and have different types of kebabs, including paneer kebabs, and 6 types of biryani, including paneer biryani for the vegetarians, which I cant wait to try! read more

Finally a great Indian grocery shop in Union City!! They carry organic dairy, great fresh vegetables - wide selection for both north & south indian cooking. Small store but covers most grocery! Things I like about this store: 1. Best cut-veggies selection! The packaged cut-veggies beat even Whole Foods, Sprouts and the price-gouging Bharat Bazaar. 2. Quality grocery at reasonable $$. 3. Also if you like fresh cut meat, they have that. 4. They also carry freshly prepared foods/snacks such as Biryani, Puffs, Curry etc. 5. These owners seem genuinely good who care about quality if groceries. Easy to talk to. 6. They also carry genuine India plants such as curry leaf plant, guava plant (!!!), indian basil (tulsi), and random herbs if you like gardening. I have been looking for a good Indian Grocery store near my home. Actually I would prefer a good Indian Cash and Carry Store like the ones I used to go to in Artesia. I have not found it yet. During my quest for such a store I came upon this place. I saw someone mention it in a negative review for another nearby store which I also found lacking. The other reviewer said Coconut Hill was a better store and was similar to a Cash and Carry store. Not really. The space is very small and cramped. The layout is very odd because I think they are crammed into a corner of the building. I could not find anyone working there (I have to assume they were in the back somewhere). They had a produce and meat area but I am not sure I would buy either here. There was not a lot of selection in the spice or other prepackaged (non-refrigerated) aisle. This might be ok to pick up a garam masala packet in a pinch but it would not be my "go to" place. read more

Coconut hill is great place for hard to find Indian grocery items. They carry items that other standard ones do not. Especially Kerala and Tamilnadu items. Their South fremont location has some exclusive produce that are very specific to South indian cusine. Their Ambur biryanis are very tasty and fresh. This branch is less organized than the South Fremont one. The owners/staff are very courteous , extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This is also a good place to find kerla ayurvedic medicines. read more

DON'T BUY MEAT FROM HERE. I got chicken wings and it was rotten. And also I order cooked chicken Tikka and looks like they are very old and been kept in marination for weeks.
