I am writing this review on behalf of my dad. He had been suffering from intense pain and swelling of his hands/wrist/elbows for 2 years prior to seeing Dr. Abbass. He had been two other rheumatologists and a hand specialist prior to seeing Dr. Abbass. All of them concluded his pain was due to age related wear and tear of the joints. None were able to provide any effective treatments. His activities of daily living were severely impacted, as he could not put on socks, open twist cap bottles, brush his hair, etc. Dr. Abbass was able to properly diagnose him and find a medication that has provided profound and lasting relief from his symptoms. Highly recommended and the best rheumatologist I have known so far. Before my primary physician recommended Dr. Abbass, I had seen several specialists and rheumatologists who were not able to diagnose my disease or provide proper treatment. Dr. Abbass was able to diagnose my disease and provided urgent and aggressive treatments to help control it in the early stages. Dr. Abbass was very knowledgeable and very responsive during the treatments. Due to the seriousness of my rare disease with poor prognosis, Dr. Abbass also referred me to the pulmonologist and rheumatologist at Stanford Hospital/University for additional treatments (which took 3 months waiting time to get in.) The doctors at Stanford were very impressed with Dr. Abbass's diagnosis, treatments, and knowledge. They said the disease was well controlled due to Dr. Abbass's early treatments. They recommended that I continue treatment with Dr. Abbass as my primary rheumatologist, and they will help monitor it as secondary physicians. I visited Dr. Abbass's office today for a check up on my hands stiffness on and off. The front desk staff seemed friendly and helpful. Dr. Abbass was very nice and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and examined my hands thoroughly. He made the visit seemed easy and relax. Not too intense. You can tell he is passionate about his work. The issue is not the amount billed. The issue is that we were misled about the report and that we were called in for the doctor to just say "everything's good in the report". This is why patient portals exist. This is not an insurance issue, this is not an issue with the billing amount. It is also bold of you to assume I make assumptions about other healthcare organizations without experience. I will not defend nonsensical allegations, but I will say that every other healthcare experience has been good, while the experience at this place was atrocious. And it continues to be atrocious with this type of mixed "sorry, but not sorry" response with thinly-veiled insults. Instead of gathering your employees to laugh react honest reviews and insulting your customers, maybe direct your attentions to fix your problems. There are several other people on here who comment about the same thing - greed for money and a lack of a proper patient portal. The crème de la crème is - the real reason we went there is to get the doctor's opinion on whether or not arthritis was a likelihood. The doctor first said - do these tests and come back we'll see, not sure yet. We did the tests and went back only for the doctor to say - the report looks great, but I'm still not sure; it could still happen or not, no idea. Laypeople can arrive at this exact same conclusion sans tests and doctor visits. To those reading this review - AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I have seen him in the past four years, he is the specialise who cares about his patient, gets and forms a "team" for my case, calls other doctors to discuss and arrange my checks, even with hospital. I met Dr. Abbass during my mother first consultation. He was through and requested lab tests and x-rays to help evaluate my mother's condition. On the second consultation he reviewed all the results and prescribed the right medications for my mother. My mother started getting better and we had another consultation on October, 26,2021. He asked her how she was filling with the medications and examined her again. He made sure that she had enough medications for the next 4 months, until we see him again. Good doctor. Good staff. Hands down the best Rheumatologist that my mom has seen in her life. She always comes out smiling after meeting him. Dr. Abbass takes great deal of care of the patients. He listened to all the concerns my mom had and went through the complete history of her problems. I'm Extremely grateful for my orthopedic doctor referring me out to Dr. Abbass, he showed he cared from the very start. Dr. Abbass was able to diagnose me with Rheumatoid Arthritis through a series of lab test and X-ray, unfortunately I've been dealing with the effects of RA for about 8 years now and didn't know it.... everytime I'd try to explain my pain to other doctors they'd blame it on other things, instead of taking time out to see why was I getting these episodes of pain and stiffness, that have now turned into disability. Dr. Abbass explained to me that I reached him too late for him to reverse the effects of RA has taken on my body, the damage that is done is now permanent, but he can help me not suffer so much, and that's just what he's done. Upon seeing Dr. Abbass, I was close to bed ridden that's just how chronic my pain had gotten, my legs had begin to deform from all the inflammation, I was in chronic pain every second of the day, literally....every step taken was agony to the 10th power!!! If it wasn't for God, I surely would have lost my mind long time ago. Dr. Abbass called me himself at home immediately after seeing my labs, and was able to call out the right RA meds to help me. It's only been a couple of weeks, and I can see & most of all feel a major difference.... majority of the inflammation has left, and my joints are flexible, Yay to having limbs that move! Letting me know He's aware of this situation and that I should make sure I don't come back?I don't know what that's supposed to mean ???? I can see that you are aware of the situation, haven't reached out and now are letting me know you "like" my experience? I'm so confused and saddened that this is how you chose to handle my situation. Really unprofessional from one medical professional to another. I was just looking for help when I came to you, I hope you never know the feeling of being in so much pain and helpless and someone treating you or someone you love this way. Karma. Nope......again. I went to him after my Rheumatologist and I parted ways. Apparently he knew her and suggested that I stay with her because my case was too complicated. Which is weird because I thought that was part of their job to help solve complicated autoimmune issues but I guess that's not how he works. Also while waiting in the waiting room he came out with the patient before me who was hobbling pretty bad and asked her how she was still able to work and if she was in pain and she said yes and he said OK I'm going to refill your Vicodin. At the very end of my brief appointment with him which was a total waste of time he made a comment saying that he does not give out Narcotics. Really???? Did he not see me sitting right there literally 2 feet away from him when he had that conversation. Secondly I did not want any pain medication from him,I wanted to get back on immune suppression medication that gives you no enjoyment at all. it's actually the opposite,they are expensive, painful injections with horrible side effects but I needed something because my body was going crazy and attacking itself. And I had already made it clear to him that I have a Doctor who handles all of my pain management and everything must go through him. So I don't know why he made that comment and why a Rheumatologist would turn someone away because their case is too "complicated" it really seems like maybe he knew my previous Rheumatologist who is completely incompetent and was just not going to get involved with me because he considered me her patient and wasn't going to take her patient as if I'm property instead of a patient who has the right to choose my care provider. Which really sucks. I don't know why someone would get into this business and then refuse to treat someone Who is suffering and in desperate need of treatment.
