My experience with Kia of Riverdale was extremely frustrating, to say the least. Communication is terrible -- calls, messages, emails, and voicemails all go unanswered. The only real progress was made when I drove an hour and a half to deal with it in person. My temporary tags expired, and I was left driving on expired tags for nearly two weeks with no clear timeline for my registration or permanent tags. At one point, I was even told to just "get a ticket and they would cover it," which is an unacceptable solution to a problem they created. There was also an issue with the car that should have been caught during their "extremely extensive" pre-buy inspection, and getting reimbursed took nearly four times longer than what I was originally told. I was purchasing a 2024 Tesla Model S (VIN: 5YJSA1E59RF536315), and after several conversations, I wired the full payment and made a special trip to Newark, NJ -- spending two days and over $1,500 in travel expenses. After they received the money, things completely changed. They had me sit down to sign the final paperwork, and only then -- at the last minute -- did they slide in a disclosure that the car had structural damage. This was never mentioned to me before. I felt blindsided. Up to that point, they never provided any documents showing damage, and this was the first time I was hearing about it. I felt completely misled. I flew in, trusting everything was as promised, only to be put in a situation where I either had to sign under pressure or walk away after everything I had already invested. I ended up having to back out of the deal and beg them to return my money, which added even more stress. First off, I was told "we don't have any loaners because they are all out on big jobs and we have no idea when they are coming back". LIE! This place was like walking into a dysfunctional family picnic. The experience was so baffling and unprofessional that I thought I was on a candid camera show. The Carplay wasn't working on the car that I came to test drive, so a gross, aggressive guy from service department lunges into the car and reaches for my phone without asking! And this is during the pandemic where we are all wearing masks and staying socially distanced. I said "whatever you need to do on my phone, you can tell me and I'll do it" and he rudely replies "Well if i can't touch your phone then I can't help you" with an attitude. Total weirdo. It never got fixed and 4 employees couldn't figure out how to use Apple Carplay (I was assuring them it was a bad connection with the USB port and not my phone). Classic bait & switch, disreputable dealer practices. My wife and I were looking for a off-brand Mazda I found on their site that lined up with exactly what we were looking for. However, it was pretty out of the way for us. After failing to find the right vehicle at other dealerships, we gave Route 23 Kia a call, and asked if they could confirm they had the specific vehicle on the lot that I found. We were well over an hour away and but if they did we would drive right over. Ashlee confirmed that they indeed had it, made an appointment with her, and began the trek. We arrive and ask for Ashlee and we were told she had left -- even though she told us she would be there. We ask about the specific car and they first tell us they sold it in the last hour, then earlier that day, and eventually it becomes 3 days ago. Of course, they pull up in another vehicle that was more expensive and not what we were looking for. We walked out. These folks are scammers and incredibly dishonest. We bought a pre-owned vehicle. Never have I had such a bad experience! From first quote being higher than the agreed price, to charging almost $1000 on top of bill for some special coating they applied to vehicle without consent...it felt like a scam. We waited 2 hours to just sign the paperwork. Then the salesman neglected to return our driver's license! Had to go all the way back for that. Car needed scratched fixed (since they were guaranteed with that $1000 plan). An appointment was made. When we brought the car back for the repair...first, the person who does that wasn't in and then they said they didn't have the paint. Now we have to go back again. The lack of communication was very stressful, they would ask for additional information 4-5 days after initial contact. They didn't start working on my plates until almost 2 weeks after i had already left with the car. They didn't pay off my trade in for an ENTIRE TWO WEEKS and i was forced to make the following payment. Their management team had the audacity to say, don't make the payment they will give you a grace period and it won't affect your credit if the payment is late. The main manager who worked on my deal (Mustafa Ramadan) was supposed to pay off my trade in 2 weeks prior to the 5th a waited for the 4th to mail out a check. His words exactly were 'i did my job by mailing it out before the 5th' knowing that it'll take that check at least a few days to arrive and a few days to clear. I am not one to put anyone on blast however I feel this is dangerous! I lease a 2017 Kia Sedona. January of this year I started to have problems with it not starting in the morning and an increase in exhaust coming from it. I had taken the car in 2-3 times regarding this problem. 1st time I took it in I was told that it was from some minor sludge in engine and it was because I needed a fuel injection. Well I got the services done as they requested. However this did not fix my problem. 2nd time I was told nothing was wrong and to video tape the problem. So I recorded the problem however I never got a response. In June I was driving my car home and all my lights went on on dashboard (never even had an engine light on prior), and what I can explain as my engine seizing. I had my three children with me! I got the car over to Sussex Kia who I had been dealing with since January and it was closed due to Covid 19. A few days went by and they did not respond so I towed my car to Route 23 Kia in Riverdale. I was told it was my engine, it was full of sludge and because I did not do oil changes. However Jorge in services had assured me that they would clean it up and get it covered by warranty. I would maybe have some minor replacements that have to do with the engine. So I did not argue the fact I was being blamed for not getting oil changes when in fact I did and have receipts for proof!!! well between June and now my car had been sitting in their lot. I was told that they were waiting on an engine to come in. Friday I finally got a call my engine was in but surprise my starter was bad!! well its been sitting untouched on their lot for 90+ days so yeah. They wanted 600 dollars out of pocket for a starter on a leased car. OK, I paid it. I wanted my car back, I figured I will fight this and get the money back later. Wednesday I get a call my car is ready. I make the payment and tell them I will pick up my car that evening. Was told my car was test driven and cleaned. So I go to pick up my car last night and I am pulling out onto route 23 and I'm like what's going on. when I would straighten my steering wheel my car started to go off the road. What I explained to be my steering wheel upside down. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AND LEFT IN LOANER AGAIN!!! I got a call this morning and was told it was not my steering wheel upside down because they do not take steering wheel off it was my Alignment (Scott the service manager). I honestly do not care what it was! It was dangerous!! This is insane. Who test drove my car and thought it was ok. I told them I do not want my car back because if they cannot recognize that my steering was off, actually undrivable, who knows what job they did on engine or on starter. HORRENDOUS SALES EXPERIENCE One of the worst experiences ever. If I could give zero stars I would. Looked at a truck on Saturday for son. Made arrangements to bring him back later in the day to drive the truck. Salesman, Kyle, confirmed later that afternoon that we were indeed coming. When we arrived, we were told that the truck was in the service garage and couldn't be driven without having an oil change first. (SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RED FLAG!!) So we arranged to go in on Monday to drive the truck. Salesman told us we didn't have to worry about losing out on the truck. We were very clear about our interest in this vehicle. Husband spoke to salesman this morning to set up a time to drive the truck. Dealership even confirmed that we were coming prior to the appointment. Upon arrival this afternoon, a GM informed us that someone wired a deposit on the truck that morning and it was no longer available. When my husband expressed his shock, the GM then indicated that it was our fault for not putting a deposit down (they did not ask for a deposit when arrangements were made to test drive). The GM then went on to tell us that they had other trucks on the lot. Like we would ever buy from them after this experience. Shady and shameful customer service!! When we arrived, asked the sales rep to confirm that they were willing to negotiate on the online price they had listing. Kamille said yes, so went through the process of test driving and was ready to purchase. Once we sat down, she "went to talk to her manager" and came back and offered $6,000 MORE than the listing! We played the negotiating game and the "best they can do" was still $5,000 MORE than the listed price. Asked for them to at least breakdown the $5,000 to justify the increase and this is what we were told: "About $1,500 for closing fees, $1,900 Service fees for a Tune Up and $800 MILITARY fee" We argued that that doesn't add up to $5k, a tune-up doesn't cost $1.9k and why a military fee?? (We are not in the Military) She explained it's just a fee. So, we need to be in the Military to buy a car or we get charged extra?! Makes absolutely NO sense. Honestly, would have rather the sales rep tell me that the fees was for their sales commission, and I would've been willing to purchase. DO NOT go here. Awful experience, complete waste of time. After aligning w a sales associate on the phone, twice, my wife brought up our trade in for an evaluation, was given a quote and I went there after work to make a deal. I was first told that the trade in wasn't evaluated, just looked over. But I had called to get a trade in eval and called to notify them she was on her way. So they wouldn't honor the quote they gave her and said it needed to be evaluated by the used car sales manager. That was the first problem.  Next was the new car price. I worked w four people in succession from phone to sales associate to the associates manager and then finally the head of sales. On the phone I was told 3 to 4k over sticker, depending on trim. Sales associate was aligned to that. Sales manager and I tentatively agreed on 2k over sticker for a car that had 1200 mi on it, new but a demo. And we had somewhat of an agreement on the trade in as well, even though it would need to be approved by the used car sales manager. Then the head of sales walks over all high and mighty obviously trying to intimidate me w his arm outstretched holding up his hand, and very rudely and practically yelling, he said, "5! We want 5 thousand over sticker for any telluride". I was taken aback and said, "Really? Because that's not what he said or he said, or the associate on the phone."  He said, "It doesn't matter what anyone else says, I'm the sales manager and we're getting 5k over sticker for any telluride!"  Does it make sense to charge the same price for the exact same vehicle but one has 1200 miles on it and the other has 50?  Does it make sense to have your sales associates to negotiate and then you blow up the negotiations?  Does it make sense to be rude and unprofessional to a clearly serious buyer?  The answer to these questions is YES! because they're a bunch of jokers there! No wonder why car salesmen have the reputation they do. Is it really too much to ask to just be straightforward and not waste your customers' time? 10/26/20- I went to RT 23 Kia to purchase a Telluride and spoke to rep Rosa. After hours of negotiotions, she worked out a deal for a Kia Telluride EX, $45,660 plus $5000 dealer mark up! She said she could give me more gave me more on my trade in for $17,000, $2500 more than initial quoted trade in value. The DEAL- $529.60 for 66 months at 1.9% with the 17k trade in for the EX. When finalizing the deal, Rosa said that the car that the car was no longer available due to some confusion internally. STRANGE. She said to look for another car. This took more time since we went out the lot to look at morea cars. She suggested another model which was the Telluride SX top model but almost similar in price which is $46,220, a $560 higher price than 8the car she originally tried to sell me. She then went to her finance person to crunch the final numbers. The finance person came up to me and said that there must have been some mistake and the new amount is $609 for 66 months with the trade in. I questioned the discrepancy to Rosa and she got her manager. Her manager Scott came over and sat in front of me on a desk. You can see that Scott was upset already and seemed frustrated and irate. He tried to explain that the person who made the mistake is Jimmy and he left for the day. I said to please reconfigure the amount because it looks way higher and it looks like an error, an amount of $80 more per month for a higher purchase price of $560? You can see by his facial reaction that he's getting more upset. He started getting aggressive and said that these are the new numbers and he said to and I quote" DO NOT FU*K WITH ME!", These are the numbers!". Scott said this twice! He said this as I was stating my case, he repeated the same foul language towards me and became even more belligerent and this time he leaned forward towards me, then he got up and came towards my direction and I thought he was trying to get physical and intimidate me. I looked around and I noticed that I was the only customer in the building at 7pm. I asked for his supervisor and he called in Sergio and I was hoping he could explain this guy's behavior. Unfortunately, he made it even worse. I asked Sergio for that person's name that almost attacked me but he said, "Don't worry about him, you're dealing with me now". I could hear Scott yelling in the background sitting by the finance person and yelling towards me saying "WHO are you gonna complain to now? - No one, that's right! Get out of here!" He repeated this over and over for the entire time Sergio was talking to me. Sergio did not help the situation and he couldnt control Scott. He didn't even apologize for the error. He said people make mistakes and it happens. I said if i knew the numbers were that high, i would have left 2 hours prior. At this point, I asked to get my license plate back and all my paperwork since they ran my credit so that I can leave. The finance person has already fonalized the paperwork, which I didn't sign. THIS WAS TEH MOST BY FAR HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN ANY DEALERSHIP! I felt threatened and disrespected. I filed a complaint with the RIVERDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT right after I left the building.. The officer said the report will be ready tomorrow. He also said that Rout 23 KIA gets a tremendous amount of complaints, he said he's not surprised and that the company is like a terrible used car company full of scammer and sales people with used car tactics. He said he feels bad for the people that gets taken advantage of in this place. I also filed a complaint with the KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS, BBB, and Consumer Affairs of NJ. The POLICE officer also said to call the owner directly which I intend to do next. I live 1.5 hours away and I work. After much discussion we decided on 10/07/2022 at 1:30 PM. I took time off and left my job early in order to do this. I gave her a text 15 min before my arrival to let her know that I would be there soon. When I arrived I went to the front desk and said "Hi I'm Chris Pearson" they looked at me like I had two heads and said what. I replied "I'm Chris Pearson and I'm here to see Standley". They said ok I'll get him. When he arrived I said once again "Hi Stanley (and shook his hand and clearly said) "Hi I'm Chris Pearson" he replied "What can I do for you?" I told him I'm here to buy a car he said oh follow me. I had talked with this man the two days before discussing my submitted application and my desired car . Once at his desk he asked me what kind of car are you interested in? We went over a few cars I was interested in. He then went to get one off the cars and I walked out. Everyone be very careful on the car that you are buying. ESPECIALLY the cars in the exotic price range. I drove all the way from Maryland to check out the 2016 M4 GTS with a MSRP of $130,000. (not even on the cheaper side of the market). The dealership told me that the car was in inmacculate condition and serviced at BMW. So I went ahead and purchased the car. Everything went well until the drive back home to Maryland. The car went into limp mode and I had to get it towed to a BMW dealership. I found out that first the car was modified (when the dealership has told me the car was not) and that there was a few other issues with the engine , The BMW dealership ended up telling me I need $1600 dollars of repairs. The worst part is I communicated with my salesman Daniel about it to relay the information to David the general manager to see what we can do to rectify the situation. I've contacted David directly as well but recieved no response back despite numerous attempts to contact him or any upper management. With that kind of after sale service, I'd be very careful about buying any car that is not brand new at that. Buying used cars is a trusting process with the dealership and I believe this dealership is not one of them that you should trust especially with anything in the exotic or in the used department as you are on your own the moment you walk out with the vehicle. I've also tried contacting the customer service number but they will simply transfer you back to the salesman and not the manager. On top of that, they ended up a selling me a warranty that can't even be used as the car has already been flagged by BMW. read more

I went to Kia about a month ago. The man was super nice and took us in about 20 minutes to closing, showing us a car. It was about a month before my lease was up, and I was just getting the feel for different brands and cars. I call them a month later, and book an appointment. The salesman never shows up for the appointment. Next, we get another salesman and have to wait well over an hour while they check the inventory and get the test drive car. We test drove the car, and I really liked it! They said they would call with Costco pricing because it would take too long, and never even called me back. Same complaint, different customer. My experience is just the same : internet price gets you in the door then they pad the price up $5000. Just like the other reviews, That seems to be the magic number here folks. Don't get scammed, be prepared and read all the bad reviews. The good reviews obviously was planted by a family or friend recently to soften all the horrific reviews. Also, they have preowned cars too! Stay away! They will charge you extra for prepping and fixing the car and it's not even certified pre-owned. I've done all my research, and always go certified preowned dealers! During this pandemic and having to deal with everything going on, I decided to do a search for a Kia Soul. After receiving a legitimate quote from route 23 Kia for a 2020 Kia Soul for $186 a month with no money down, I ended up going to the dealership to finalize the deal. To my surprise, I was handed over to another salesperson who proceeded to waist my time for 2 hours. At the end, they wanted me to pay $228 per month with $2,000 down after I had a certified offer on paper. This dealership is a scam. They are very nice when you are there buying a car, after you buy they don't even return your calls if you have any questions. Also, be aware that they charge you unnecessary extra charges and they don't even tell you about it or let you read the contract before signing it. I actually had a good experience here. They worked with my bad credit (the other dealerships that I dealt with wouldn't) and got me into the car I wanted quickly and seamlessly! Initially a good experience and I walked away with what I still think is a good deal. I should have expected the service aspect after the sale across the organization to be average (I didn't factor this in since I was solely price focussed in getting what was basically my first non company car, a full option Sorrento) Often when I am driving out there from Englewood I think I should have gone with the Prestige Tenafly location of Kia because its more family friendly and there are things to do close by. My time & stress savings would have more made up for the $30/month savings on my 39 month lease. My daughter has a leased vehicle from Kia of Riverdale Route 23. She was on her way for service when the vehicle died. It was towed to Kia. It was just there in Dec and Feb for an oil change. It was also there on their Recalls for oil problems The service person (who should definitely be trained on how to talk and treat customers with respect ) was arrogant and talked to my daughter like she was stupid. After 6-7 days she finally got a call from him and was told "it needs a new engine " your options are $7500 or 7200. My daughter did nothing wrong on part. She is totally besides her. This place doesn't even deserve a star. They made me deposit $399 to DMV for registration. Then NY DMV only charged $60 from my old registration to the new one. It's been over a month they have not returned the money back yet. I called a million time and emailed, everyone was hiding. And there is a ton of excuses. Since they delayed transferring the registration I got a fine from DMV for $168. Also, there's only one key for the used vehicle. (You'd better ask how many keys before buying it.)
