The facilities remain well kept and the snack bar has returned to being open post-Covid. The facility runs a variety of basketball and volleyball programs. Over time, the quality of the program has been in decline while costs increase. The focus on conditioning and playing through practice still prevails and is a good thing. Game play lacks play structure and is more run and gun. The costs continue to escalate not just for being on a team, but door costs have doubled with some tournaments topping $15 a day. They also charge $5 to park for your own home court for many tournaments. Lastly, the programs we've been in seem to cater to those who pay for the most programs. Hard to see if there is any different criteria as playing time seems to dramatically fluctuate for no reason. Having paid coaches for travel ball is a plus.

They market themselves as a developmental program, but once they take your $1,500, player development ceases unless your child is one of the "favorites." Instead, you are paying a premium just for your child to serve as the practice squad for the preferred players. ​The blatant favoritism is glaring. The preferred players stay on the court to accumulate minutes even when they are consistently turning over the ball, making critical errors, and causing the team to lose. Meanwhile, the benched players are never given a chance. Kids get zero equal opportunity or playing time without parents constantly advocating. Furthermore, the organization has zero allegiance to the families who paid; if they think they can't win, they will pull outside players from other places and plug them in, stripping opportunities away from the kids who have been there. Thus, on top of registration, you are forced to pay gate fees at every tournament just to sit there and watch other kids play. The leadership and staff are entirely toxic. The current 9th grade coach, Dylan, is completely disrespectful and unprofessional. The director, Jordan, actively emboldens and protects this behavior, giving Dylan complete deference simply because he allegedly played professionally overseas--as if that automatically makes him a competent or respectful youth coach. ​Because of the leadership, the actual training is a joke. If the coach is upset about a game performance, his response is to just smoke the team--making them run back and forth instead of actually drilling the plays they need to know. It's completely counterintuitive. When Jordan steps in or interrupts, he just hollers at the kids as if they should have ESP and automatically understand his instructions, even though they don't work with him consistently. The kids just end up frustrated and confused. To top it off, the HoopSeen circuit they play on is a total travesty and a blatant money grab. The odds are completely stacked against the children and it is incredibly demoralizing. A 15-year-old child will routinely be matched up against 17- and 18-year-olds who are reclassing or playing down. Because of normal growth and development, these older kids are obviously much taller and stronger, making the games entirely unfair. It's hard to believe reputable scouts would come to these tournaments because it's a hodgepodge mess where people lie about what team they qualify to be on. Overall, Suwanee Sports Academy staff do not care about training, growth, or the kids' well-being; they only care about winning and using parents as wallets. The complete lack of respect for paying repeat patrons has been eye-opening, disheartening, and extremely disappointing. The old leadership is missed. Save your money and your child's confidence--avoid this place at all costs!

I originally stopped by in search of pottery classes--and was delighted to find not only that they offer them, but also that a new session begins on October 13th. In addition, there's a Fall Break Art Camp for grades 2-5, where children will experiment with a range of media including watercolor, acrylics, and collage. As I walked through the space, I was able to watch artists at work and enjoy the current gallery exhibits on display. The atmosphere was inspiring and welcoming. Adult fall classes--running October 6th through December 13th--are also available, covering both visual and ceramic arts. Each class is taught by individual instructors, making it approachable for students of all levels. Best of all, online registration makes it simple to sign up. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that such a wonderful resource has been right in my neighborhood all along. It was a great experience, and I've already registered for pottery classes--something I'm really excited about! When I tried to contact them to cancel the camp within their cancellation period, the phone only rang and did not go to a voice mail. After a couple more attempts I e-mailed them and finally received acknowledgement that they would cancel her camp and issue a refund. After months of trying to contact with them asking for an update on my refund, I was only given excuses and was constantly told that the person responsible for issuing the refund was always busy and could not talk at that time. This place is a scam and I would never trust the care of my child to them.

One thing I've noticed is that the facility is constantly undergoing renovations. Since the beginning of this year, they have renovated the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and men's locker room, and now the women's locker room is being updated as well. While it's good to see continuous improvements, the ongoing construction can sometimes feel inconvenient and is a reminder that the facility is aging. My experiences with the staff have been mixed. Some employees are friendly and helpful, while others come across as less welcoming. One incident in particular left a disappointing impression. I accidentally left my phone at the Life Cafe table and realized it after I had already left the gym. When I returned, a young staff member asked to see my membership card. I explained that my membership information was on the phone I had left inside, but despite the obvious situation, he refused to let me enter without an ID. Even after explaining multiple times that I was simply trying to retrieve my phone, he continued insisting on identification. It felt like common sense and flexibility were missing in that moment. Another concern is the membership cost. I currently pay more than $180 per month, which is quite expensive. At that price point, I believe members naturally expect not only quality facilities but also consistently professional and understanding customer service. Despite these frustrations, I still appreciate the convenience of the location and the overall amenities the gym provides.

Unfortunately, the courts are unavailable Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM throughout the summer due to camp activities, yet members are still paying full membership rates with no discount or accommodation offered. For members who use the courts regularly, this removes a major part of what we're paying for. It feels unfair to eliminate access to a key amenity for an extended period while continuing to charge full price. I understand businesses want to run summer programs, but this situation seems focused on generating additional revenue at the expense of paying members. I raised these concerns with management and was told, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That response was disappointing and felt dismissive. For a gym at this price point, I expected better communication, better planning, or some effort to make things right for affected members. This was handled poorly.

Our two daughters have been attending United Family Taekwondo since the summer of 2021, and the…read moregrowth we've seen in both of them has been incredible. They both started as white belts and are now black belts. Our oldest is now a 2nd Degree Black Belt and serves as a Junior Instructor. Through her journey at UFT, we've watched her confidence, discipline, and character grow tremendously. Master Kim, Master Daniel, and Grand Master Lee have all been such positive influences in her life. It makes us so proud to see her continue pushing forward while also giving back by helping younger students learn and grow. Beyond self-defense, United Family Taekwondo has helped her develop self-esteem, confidence, endurance, perseverance, and a strong sense of self-worth. These are invaluable life skills that will continue to benefit her for years to come. Our youngest daughter is now a black belt as well. She started when she was only 5 years old and has come such a long way. In the beginning, she struggled with paying attention in group settings and required one-on-one instruction. Master Kim worked patiently with her individually to help her catch up and build confidence. Today, she is sharp, confident, funny, and absolutely loves going to TKD. She also loved being part of the after-school care program with Ms. Jen, during the time when we needed after-school care. As parents with a very busy schedule, we truly feel the time and money invested in training at UFT has been more than worth it. Our children have gained so much more than martial arts skills -- they've learned respect, discipline, confidence, and strong core values. Above all else, the Masters and Grand Master Lee consistently teach students to love, respect, and honor their parents, each other, and others. Teachings like these are rare nowadays. We recently extended both of our daughters' contracts for another two years because they genuinely love being there, and that alone speaks volumes about the environment UFT has created. Nia, the assistant director, gave me incorrect pricing information not once, but twice. She also told me that the enrollment fee would be waived. Because she had already given me inaccurate information earlier that week, I specifically asked if she was sure, and she confirmed that she was. When I received my first bill, it was a little under $500, which immediately confused me because there was supposed to be a $250 discount applied to the first week. I asked the director, Renee Milton, why the bill was still so high after the discount. She told me it was because the enrollment fee had been added. I explained that Nia had told me the enrollment fee would be waived. Considering the multiple pricing errors beforehand, I felt some type of accommodation should have been made. Nia clearly needs additional training, and the communication between management is poor. Now onto the director, Renee Milton. She was extremely unprofessional throughout my experience there. One morning while dropping my children off, a teacher was running late. Renee said to me and another parent, "If it was up to me, I would get completely new staff." We were both visibly confused. As a parent, that is not something you want to hear from the person running the daycare your children attend. A few days later, I saw my oldest child doing something inappropriate on the camera system, so I called the school to address it and speak with my child. Later that evening, Renee brought up the situation and I mentioned that I like to monitor my child's behavior. She then responded, "You need to watch the cameras for these teachers as well." Again, I found this incredibly unprofessional. Regardless of how management feels about staff internally, those conversations should never be had with parents. The final issue involved my account balance. Earlier that week, I spoke with Renee over the phone and explained that I would pay the balance on Friday. She agreed that it was fine. Then, a day or two later, she messaged me through the parent portal reminding me to pay before drop-off, and I responded confirming that I would. Friday morning, I paid the balance before bringing my children in. While dropping them off, one of the teachers told me, "Renee said you can't drop off your child unless you pay your balance." I was absolutely upset. First, because I had already communicated with Renee multiple times about the payment. Second, because no teacher should have access to or be discussing my personal billing information with me. When I addressed it with Renee, she seemed more concerned about finding out who told me than understanding why the situation was inappropriate in the first place. At that moment, I decided my children would no longer attend this daycare. This was honestly one of the worst daycare experiences I have had. Renee and Nia are the main reason I would never recommend this school. It is hard to feel comfortable leaving your children somewhere when the director openly speaks negatively about staff members to parents. That being said, I do want to acknowledge the teachers who were wonderful to my children. Ms. Smiley was amazing, and honestly one of the main reasons I stayed as long as I did. Ms. Houda (I may be spelling her name incorrectly) was also wonderful with my 4-year-old and treated her with so much kindness and encouragement. Ms. Rochelle was incredibly sweet as well, and I truly believe she cared about my children. Those three teachers deserve recognition because they were the bright spots in an otherwise disappointing experience. The school has potential, but the current leadership is what will continue to hurt it.
