I took my girlfriend's child here for a visit, and I was immediately uncomfortable with the overall environment. There was noticeable police activity in the area, and several people who appeared to be homeless were lingering around the property. It didn't feel like a safe or appropriate place to bring a child for medical care. Inside, the clinic felt run-down and not very clean--definitely not what you'd expect from a pediatric office. The whole experience left us questioning whether we'd return. A children's healthcare facility should feel secure and welcoming, and unfortunately, this one didn't. read more

My son is a year and a half and he has been seeing dr Erin Lucas since he was born. We absolutely love her and all of the staff in the office. Everyone is always kind and helpful. Both of my children were seen here by Dr. Harris since birth. This week I was out of town and my son incurred a head injury. My mother in law called the office to see my son and they informed him our account had been terminated. I called the office, was placed on hold for 17 minutes before being hung up by reception. In the past, we have always dealt with the "hiccups" every time we visited with billing and staff. Chevy was always great, however there were issues with literally every visit if we did not get Chevy at the front desk. Since we liked Dr. Harris, we dealt with this. When I finally reached someone today, I was informed that I needed to reach out the their collection agency because a bill hadn't been paid. I did so, and the company had no file on us and I knew this was not true. I reported this back to the owner of the business. She told me my account was terminated because I was "argumentative and threatening." Appalled, I pleaded with her to help my son and she hung up on me. I have never felt so disrespected and alone in a time of mother's need. If you love your children, run from this place. I have requested a call from Dr. Harris and the owner and I have not received any contact. I am happy to discuss the issue, however my children will NEVER enter this establishment EVER again. read more

I called and asked the receptionist if KidFirst administered the dyslexia test and was informed they do. We scheduled an appointment, went in, paid our co-pay and waited to be seen. After waiting 30-40 minutes the P.A. came in and informed us that KidsFirst does not administer the test. After asking for a refund (because they didn't do anything) I was informed that I would not be received a refund and they were changing my insurance. I mentioned that I was given the wrong information over the phone when I scheduled the appointment, and the response I received was "well our receptionists aren't doctors so that don't know what options we offer"... WHAT? I don't want to go to a doctor's office that doesn't have competent people providing vital information. I do not recommend this office anymore which is too bad because Dr. Johannes is awesome! UPDATE: After reviewing the comment posted by KidsFirst re: my initial review. I would like to reiterate that the women at the front desk did in fact confirm that the office could administer the dyslexia test. It's unfortunate that someone would try to discredit my post with a false statement. My daughter has been with Dr. Harris since she was a toddler (now 17). We absolutely love Dr. Harris. She is very smart and actually cares. The other Doctors are just a good. My issue is with the front end staff. These young girls are so snotty and hateful. They haven't a clue of how to deal with the public. When you talk to them, they give no eye contact in return and are very rude and hateful. The dismiss you like you were the child and they the adults. They give this office a bad reputation. These girls need to be trained and talked to by their office manager. They make me want to change offices just so I don't have to deal with them. Then you give them the same treatment (after trying to smile and joke with them) and they wisper behind your back. I think next time I will personally spek to the doctor about this issue. read more

I love this place!!! My daughter is 5 and we have been coming here since she was a newborn!! I always get the best quality care for my child. I love Shebby she knows my family and always addresses me by my first name every time I walk in the door. She has been so helpful over the years with any question I have or any concerns. Dr. Harris is the reason I also love this place!!! It took me FOUR pediatrician offices to find a doctor who not fully supports my decision as not vaccinating my daughter, but respectful about it. She has made my life easy. And she always told me from the beginning which shots she would recommend and why. Even if I didn't use the shots she mentioned she was OK with that. She has been my child only provider. She takes her time with my daughter and always listens to my concerns as a parent she does a great job recommending me to the right places for her. I am also somewhat a non-medicine person so she recommends home remedies. Dr. Harris is absolutely amazing. I've seen Dr. Johaness on a few occasions he's amazing as well. I recently moved to Aurora at the end of 2018 and I still make the drive which is 40 minutes just to come to this pediatric office. I believe in the best care for my child and this office always exceeds my expectations. I'm looking forward to using them for my little one on the way and to continue care with my daughter here. I highly recommend the clinical staff at Kids First Pediactrics. Dr. Johannes has been our doctor for 6+ years. He's is straight forward and is willing to answer all questions. Also every time I need an appointment I call and they try to fit me, Chevy is amazing at the front desk. I will never go anywhere else. They are the best! read more

I really enjoy Dr. Daley and the PAs we've seen here-- Seyward and Lindsey. They are all very personable and excited to see my kids. They encourage questions and look up things they are unsure of. Also, I'm a nursing mom and both my boys have been small and they never jump right to supplementing with formula but look for other solutions. I've heard some bad experiences with doctors from nursing moms--so I really appreciate being supported. And my son loves playing with their toys! read more

My children were dropped from Kids First Pediatrics because I was contesting a bill with my insurance company. It started when I believed that I was not charged correctly for a 2 procedures at Kids First. I was charged for a surgical procedure, when I believed that I should be charged for an office visit. This procedure was done by a doctor the first time, and an MA  the 2nd time. To be more specific, on 9/2 and 9/22, my child put a pebble in his ear and they squirted water in it to get the pebble out. I wanted to lok this up and make sure it was the correct way to bill. I called United who said that Kids First chose to bill it that way, but when I called Kids First, the billing department said that United makes them bill it that way. I thought this should be an office visit for injury and not a surgical procedure. I wanted to investigate this with Human Resources before paying more than I thought I should pay. In addition, even if it was a surgical procedure, I was charged more than my annual deductible, which was $300.  My total bill for 2 "surgical procedures" was $318. The Insurance company statement stated that I should have been charged $258.  I contacted Kids First billing to explain that I was contesting this with my insurance company.  I explained that I was having trouble getting a hold of someone from Human Resources, due to them being busy at the end of the year. The Kids First billing employee said that she would extend the bill 1 month. I paid $30 for each bill, and completely paid an unrelated bill. I said that I intended to pay, but I wanted to look into it first. The billing lady said she would postpone the bill  for 1 month. Then, after 1 to 2 weeks,  I received a certified letter that Kids First would no longer see my children. I have been taking them there for 7 years and they dropped us for contesting a bill. They put on the letter that it was because we get preventative care elsewhere and that I was unhappy with office policies.  I had explained before that me and my children's father are not together, and that is why we have more than one pediatrician's office for urgent issues. At the time, they said that this was okay. Once I contested a bill, this has suddenly changed. If you contest a bill at this company, apparently they won't see your children any longer. As a Childrens Hospital employee, I find it appalling to refuse care to children because of a disputed charge. read more

We have been taking our boys here since they were born (so up to 4 years). The staff is generally very helpful and friendly. We have had good experiences with the doctors. The PAs have been hit or miss. Overall a great place to take the kids. read more

my daughter has gone here for 9 years for anual check ups (she is a healthy kid) the one time she got sick they made her an appointment that was in 20 min well traffic was bad so I called them back to say we were gonna be late but trying our best and they put me on a 15 min hold then when we got there refused to see her and fired us as patients! read more

I was put in the situation of taking custody of 3 of my grandchildren and I chose kids first due to location in the 3 years since we have been going there we have not had any negative issues. The office staff is friendly and welcoming. I have never been on hold over 5 minutes. Appointments are easy to get. All of the nursing and physician staff have always been kind, helpful and professional in every way. They are considerate of my time and if running late they always let me know. I wont take my precious grandkids anywhere else. read more

I took my kids there for a couple of years and it was OK...the doctors and PAs tended to be condescending at times but it was tolerable. I got a letter last week (certified) from their office manger stating that they will no longer be seeing any of my kids because of my missed appointments. See, I had another appointment run late and missed my twins double appointment...even though I called an hour and a half before to tell them what was going on....didn't matter...we have been kicked out...great business practice! What happened to the $25.00 missed appointment fee...I understand that. But in a family with 5 five kids (4 of which are under the age of 5) shit comes up and shit happens sometimes....you don't kick the whole family out. Don't bother with these people! read more

We have been seeing Dr. Harris for the past 6+ months. I really liked her. She was great with my 18 month old, listened and respected me. This past weekend my mother in law took my daughter in Saturday morning. After they left the clinic I received a call from Maria stating they were missing a otoscope. From the beginning of the phone call Maria's tone was accusing. We checked our diaper bag to make sure the toddler didn't accidentally place it there. At that point I let the rudeness and accusing manner of the first phone call go. I understand things get misplaced, the equipment is expensive, and so on. I am a nurse, I get it. I received 3 more phone calls accusing my family of taking the otoscope after notifying the office that we did not have it. Maria was extremely rude and the situation of accusing a patient of stealing is the reason we will not go back. Very unprofessional. read more

This is NOT a review of KidsFirst in general. My daughter has been seeing Dr. Daley since she was born--so for almost 11 years now. I am fine with Dr. Daley. This is a review of our experience with one of the PAs that work there--Tiffani Masar. We recently went in for an appointment because my daughter was having consistent, but low-grade issues with a stuffy nose and thickish snot. We thought she had allegies as the problem started at the end of June. We put her on antihistamines. Sometimes she stopped complaining and we thought the issue was resolved, then it would come back. I made an appointment with an allergist, but in the meantime decided to take her to KidsFirst. My daughter had just been to KidsFirst a month previous for her annual and Dr Daley hadn't mentioned that anything looked wrong when she looked in her nose and at her throat and I didn't think to mention the on and off breathing issue and my daughter didn't mention it either when asked questions. I explained to Masar what had been going on and she took a look up my daughter's nose and at her throat. She told me my daughter had polyps in her nose from the allergies. She said it was good that I had scheduled an appointment with an allergist. Told me to take my daughter off Claritin and put her on Zyrtec, which is a much better product. Flash forward to our appointment with the allergist--my daughter did NOT have polyps. The allergist said that is often misdiagnosed. After doing the allergy testing, she diagnosed my daughter with a low-grade sinus infection and put her on antibiotics. My daughter is feeling much better now. So, misdiagnosis is issue #1. Issue #2 bugged me even more... My daughter tends to be a little dramatic and has mild hypochondriac tendencies. Because of this, Dr Daley had put in her records that she might benefit from counseling. She didn't push the issue, just mentioned it during my daughter's yearly exam. During the visit with Masar, my daughter said that sometimes it's so hard to breath that she "thinks she's going to die". Keep in mind that the issue is a low-grade sinus infection and that she can breath, she's just uncomfortable and tends to be a little dramatic--always has been. Masar hones in on this statement because there are notes from Dr. Daley in the system that state my daughter could benefit from counseling. So, as a result, she spends more time trying to convince me that I should take my daughter to counseling--that her tendency to worry about death is not natural for a kid her age and that the problem could get worse. During the conversation she even indicated that school councilors aren't very good. My father is a retired school councilor. When she said it, I wondered what he would think about her opinion. Now, my husband and I are both college educated, relatively intelligent people. We would know if our daughter might need counseling. And, like I said, my father is a retired councilor. His sister has a PhD in Psychology and has her own practice. We have plenty of go-to experts in our family. It really bothers me that I brought my child in because of sinus/snot/breathing issues and I spend most of the time listening to a lecture on my daughter's "need" to see a councilor. The visit was a complete waste of time and money. And, being what it is, I can't demand a refund for myself or my insurance company. read more
