She kept assuring me that they would be in touch in a couple of days, but I never received a phone call from them. They ended up messing around with us for so long that my daughter had to go to college without getting the work done that needed to be done. Sad that now we have to find care in another state.

Third call - I got to the office an hour before the appointment, so I called to see if it was okay to come in early. They told us no apt by name or no referring doctor information. Really? I thought I was going crazy so I called the referring doctor. They confirmed that they had sent the information to the office. Fourth call on the day of the apt - they said we could come in at 4pm but the apt was for 3pm. I went to the office anyway because they told me to. After analyzing what happened, I have concluded that the staff made a mess of scheduling an apt, but no apology whatsoever. If you are doing an apt for a patient, please log it into your system while you are doing it. I don't see you in the system on the day of the apt is not acceptable. Incompetent staff. They wanted a referral so I sent it to the email address they gave me. First time "Oahu" was misspelled. Second time "surgery" was missing a "y". They called the referring doctor without asking me to verify the email address they gave me to send. I just resent the email the third time and it went through. The staff can't spell and can't do their jobs properly. Sigh. I hope the oral surgeon is not like the staff I dealt with. Overall, I am not impressed with this office at all. I am so glad I went through this before the actual oral surgery for my son. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason. The doctor asked me to delete the review bc it will deteimentally affect the business. If I were the business owner, I would be grateful to get good and bad feedback and improve accordingly based on the feedback. Why couldn't this be addressed when he was talking to me instead of asking me to remove the review? Finally, the office manager said she would check with the insurance company and send me an updated sheet with the cost the next day. It has been two weeks and nothing has been sent to us. I didn't expect too much because I knew this would be the result.

What a great process! Here's what I noticed: - Lots of hand sanitizer once you walk in - They immediately check your temperature and oxygen levels upon walking in - Fill out a short form re: covid - No magazines or any common things that can shared is present in the office - I noticed the front desk immediately wiped down every surface I touched (pen, clipboard for form, etc) - When getting my teeth x-rayed and cleaned, Jan wore a full face shield, goggles, and mask - They have earplugs for you to use as they use a big vacuum system near your mouth when cleaning so that everything is sucked I think it is amazing how they've adapted to COVID! Also wanted to say I've been coming here for years and am impressed every time. My appointments are always on time, no waiting around in the waiting room for extended amounts of time. Parking is validated. Front desk is professional, competent, and friendly. My dental hygienist Jan is awesome!! I'm usually in and out of my appointment very quickly. I highly recommend Dr. Hayashi. There have been a handful of times I've had a different hygienist because of schedule, and they're all great.

Recently moved back to Hawaii in September so needed to find a new dentist for my family & I. Found Kaneohe Family Dental Care here on Yelp and luckily they happened to take my insurance (Tricare). I've actually been putting off finding a dentist because I've been so busy with other things, but I had a tooth break off (it was actually a newer crown I had put in, I think, in May 2016 or so) and Bobbie was able to squeeze me in the same day but I ended up needing to go the next day instead which wasn't any problem. She recognized me right off the bat with my missing front tooth and was just as friendly in person as on the phone. I waited about two minutes before a technician/hygienist (I never know what anyone's job title is!) brought me back, I think her name is Allie and she's also very nice, she talked to me a little to get a short history and not too long after, I met Dr. Keller who took very good care of me. I never felt rushed and he gave me his recommendations and made sure I understood all my options but did not push anything on me. This happened to be a few days before the New Year so he and his wife were just about to fly to the mainland to spend the holiday with their daughters so I felt very fortunate they could fit me in as I'm pretty sure I'd be hard pressed to find another dentist at that time. I ended up needing to get a retainer thing they call a flapper, kind of like a denture I think, which took about a week to make -- though I do really want an implant, my mouth needs a LOT of other work (I've got several molars missing and other nonsense due to lack of dental insurance in the past) so before setting me up with that he's working out a treatment plan for me so we're not just jumping around my mouth and ending up doing something unnecessary (I appreciate this though I hate having to use this retainer!) Since my initial appointment I think I've been back twice, once for my retainer fitting and another for a routine cleaning and new patient X-Rays. For my cleaning I worked with Donna who was VERY informative; I learned more during that one cleaning than I ever have about taking care of my mouth and now my gums are looking & feeling better than they have in a long time. I've also had both of my sons in to see Dr. Keller just today and they had a really great time. They were able to take them back without me and I guess it seemed so fun my mom (who came as back-up) wants to switch dentists now. They made balloon heads out of rubber gloves and gave them each a toy from their "treasure chest", both of which they are still enjoying. I'm really happy with my experience and definitely recommend Kaneohe Family Dental, their name may suggest they treat patients of all ages but in my opinion I think it's also because they treat their patients like family.

Before going here, I highly recommend reading the reviews carefully. If you still decide to move…read moreforward, make sure you fully understand what your dental insurance actually covers. This office has you sign paperwork based on what they think your insurance will cover, proceeds with treatment, and then later sends you a bill for anything your insurance did not pay. You end up being responsible for those unexpected charges. In my experience, the office does not take the time to properly verify coverage--especially for procedures that are already in progress. Communication around costs is unclear and can be misleading. On top of that, the office manager is extremely rude, and the staff is not welcoming or friendly, which makes the overall experience even more frustrating. Save yourself the stress and consider going elsewhere. Also, keep in mind that this company operates multiple locations across the island, so your experience may be similar at their other offices as well.

Dr. Uchida should be put in jail…read more He took my money, did a bad job, and then blamed it all on me. He did the All-on-4 procedure for my upper and lower jaw. Charged me $54,000.00 which I paid in two payments upfront. Told me everything would be fine and that he's an "Expert." He's no expert and not even an implant specialist. He is a General Dentist and a crook! After the procedure was done my bite was off. I went back for adjustments but every time I went in he would blame me for his junk work. The teeth were so off that it cause one of the implants to fail and again he blamed it on me. He's the one that's supposed to make my bite good, that's why I did the upper and lower together. He even made me do Botox to try and solve his problem. Less than a year later, my new teeth on the upper and lower broke. I think the implants and materials he used are cheap and couldn't hold up and that he never fixed the bite properly. He again blamed it on me and refused to even fix it. Since I had no money left, I was of no use to him. He's only concerned with money and driving around in his fancy car. The only reason I didn't sue him is because I don't want to continue this nightmare. I'm pau. Yea he might get away with this on me but this is Hawaii and word will get out that he is a crook and a no good dentist. I hope other potential patients will read this and run far away from his office. Stephen

I left the below review for Dr. Uchida's Honolulu office location but would also like to share here…read moresince Dr. Uchida works out of 2 different offices and has 2 different yelp profiles for each location: Do not go to this dentist he is a nightmare! He seems to have a personality disorder and will yell at his patients and staff. The worst part is he hurts his patients when performing work. How is it that I am having work done on the left side of my mouth and when I awake from the procedure my ENTIRE mouth is cut up and my tongue had lacerations on the right side. He prescribes sedation pills so you are sleeping during the procedure and completely unaware of what is happening. It was only when the anesthesia wore off after I left his office did I realize how bad I was hurt. I feel like he did it on purpose because he was not happy that I returned to his office to fix the bad work he did previously. He will overcharge you and recommend having work done that is not even necessary just to make more money. I know this because I am now at another dentist who took Xrays of my mouth and said that I don't need to have the additional work done that Dr. Uchida said I did. Not to mention, he uses cheap materials so your teeth, implants, bonding etc.. will keep breaking and you will have to keep going back in, and he will charge everytime even though it's his fault. I think that's the plan so he continues making money off of his patients. Please stay away from this place this dentist is unethical and will seriously hurt someone one day.

I've been his patient for over a decade, making him by far the longest medical relationship I've had. I've always said that if life ever took either of us away from beautiful Hawai'i, he'd be the doctor I'd miss the most. The level of care he provides is extraordinary, and it was evident from my very first visit. His genuine concern and dedication to his patients are truly one-of-a-kind. As someone with a dental phobia and a history of medical trauma, I've always dreaded dental appointments. But Dr. Hayashi has completely changed that for me and each encounter leaves me feeling grateful to have him on my healthcare team. His commitment to patient well-being and his accountability in fostering a better community is exceptional. Over the years, he's been a part of some major changes in my life, and I feel a special kinship with him. We've made incredible progress in my dental journey, and I'm proud of the place we've gotten to together. I'd also like to recognize the amazing front office team--Kerrie, Abi , and the other staff member (whose name I didn't catch). They play such an essential role in keeping everything running smoothly, and I'm always thankful for their friendly and efficient service. Dental assistant Ashlee deserves special mention as well. Her kindness and lively personality make the appointment feel so much more pleasant. Every office needs someone like Ashlee! Although I haven't met the other dentists at the office yet, I'm confident they're excellent. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and zero regard for patients. I'd been complaining about my tooth for months and was told nothing was wrong. Enduring the pain, turned out to be fractured....causing an issue that could have been avoided. Staff informed me that this nearly $1500 procedure where I was responsible for at least half would be "no problem" when I asked to pay monthly, so I agreed to the amount where they said we can work out the payments after. But in the end they demanded full payment immediately and refused any partial payment. To me, it's insult to injury when this was an inconvenient bill that could've been prevented. The fact that I've ALWAYS paid the full amount no matter the cost and asked for them to work with me tells me they DON'T know their customers and they are NOT a family oriented business. Unless my mind is changed, help me find a new dentist!!
