Free samples! They let you go buck wild in here with the samples! I walked out with toners on my eyes, balms on my lips, salve on my hands, lotion on my wrists- they just let you help yourself! The staff was friendly and speedy. They offer a wide selection of different high-end lotions and such for all genders, and nothing is overly smelly. It's just good stuff. They get bonus points for wearing lab coats, like they're mixing up some wild chemical concoctions. I've always enjoyed Kiehls aftershave, but use it sparingly since this stuff ain't cheap. Their Michigan Avenue Shop is the perfect place to re-up on your moisturizing materials. I'm writing this review because of Giana! After 7 years of being a loyal Kiehl's customer, Giana was the first person who took the time to explain the differences in eye creams without making me feel like Kiehl's was evaluating my eligibility to use the product rather than I am the one giving them the privilege of picking their product. I explained my reasons for coming in today and we ended up picking the night cream and refilling my avacado eye cream. When she found out I was using it, she said my eyes looked hydrated and that I was good at moisturizing. Almost always you get the other version (not just at Kiehl's) from a cosmetics salesperson. I feel so motivated to keep doing what I'm doing now! Giana also took the time to listen to some winter related skin issues I'm having - namely some discoloration due to cold weather. Giana explained the UV rays were even more dangerous in the winter and I should use sunscreen especially in the winter. She gave me a few samples and I'm very likely to come back for purchasing the serum she recommended based on past experiences with magical Kiehl's products. read more

I went into Kiehl's thinking the another store for cosmetics. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. From welcoming smiles, to sitting my friend and I down to show us guided instruction on how our skin barriers were. Very nice experience. I didn't even know I had a skin barrier! These young ladies were so helpful in teaching us about the importance of hydration, and with the help of the tool she used to check the depth of my skin barrier I took that into consideration before I purchased the "Ultra Facial Cream". Kiehl's products are amazing - I love the hand salve, lip balm, eye creams, serums and pretty much everything else they make. I do not love this store. I went in and was assisted by...no one. Certainly not the half dozen or so employees milling about and ass scratching. When I made my (not inexpensive) selections and took them to the cashier who was obviously studying for her PhD in Vacant Staring, I was greeted with: "Uhhhh, Ashley.....can you take care of her? Because I'm going on break" Nice. Ashley begrudgingly checked me out and then went back to contemplating the Wit and Wisdom of Kim Kardashian or whatever she was doing before. I've been a fan of Kiehl's for a long time and I am constantly using their skincare line for my very difficult super dry sometimes oily skin. Every new store I visit has always given me exceptional customer service and this one is not exception. I forgot to pack moisturizer and frantically ran in telling the employee that I am only here for a week and I just need enough to last that long. I thought she would show me to the travel size bottles but she was gracious enough to give me three samples that would last me the length of the trip. I am very frustrated with this store. Although the people that work there are very kind, customer support has been so unhelpful. I purchased a face wash but it didn't work so I returned it. I never got the refund to my card and then my card was charged for an item I never purchased that same day. The store told me to contact my bank, the online customer service system never replied. I walk by this Kiehl's a fair number of times and kept noticing the window display touting a new eye cream with avocado. During Memorial Day weekend I finally stopped in and was pleasantly surprised by the buzzing, but not claustrophobic store environment. I looked at the cream, along with a couple other products. The best part was that this product was offered in a small size, so I didn't need to commit to a honkin' big jar. The salespeople left me alone for the most part, but since I knew what I was looking for on this visit I was a-ok with that. Perhaps I didn't buy enough to warrant a blizzard of free samples to which some other reviewers alluded. So far the product works well; I'm an eye cream-aholic, of sorts, so I'm sure I'll be trying some of their other preparations. read more

"Service trumps all" I walked in and was greeted by two individuals, but Trent really stood out. I had tons of questions and he enthusiastically answered all of them and even recommended a few other products. Talk about a person who knows his products, this guy was amazing. For those who haven't tried Kiehl's products it is an expensive addiction, but the products really are fantastic. From the Creme De Corps (Lotion or Butter) to the Balms to my new favorite Aromatic Blends: Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit, I am in absolute heaven. I walked to the purple line and waited ten minutes in 30 degree weather for the L. Of course, the purple line had more delays than usual on the one day I needed it to be on time. I'm constantly mapping on my phone the estimated time of arrival to the Kiehl's in Lincoln Park. 6:48. Then, 6:52. 6:55. 6:58, and I run off the train, bolt towards Kiehl's and reach there at 7 PM on the dot -- closing time. I knock on the glass, and the store associate takes his hand and slices his throat, so nicely indicating that they are closed. I walk away in defeat. I map how far to the next closest Kiehl's - 35 minutes to the store on Michigan Avenue. I start the trek. I walked to the red line - the train came in perfect timing. Walked 4 minutes at a leisurely pace, and I was at the store in no time. I came in to get a few items, my absolute favorites at Kiehl's - the Ultra Facial Cleanser, Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, and the Ultra Facial Cream. The Ultra Facial Cleanser is my favorite daily cleanser - perfect for washing away the day, taking off makeup, and leaves skin feeling clean. The Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser is great for a deeper clean and provides gentle exfoliation. I use it most nights as I think it's perfect for a deep clean just before bed, but I don't use it every night since I think it would dry out my skin if I did (I have oily skin and I'm saying that). People think it's crazy that I have two different cleansers, but I promise there's reason for my madness. The Ultra Facial Cream is my absolute favorite moisturizer. It provides just enough moisture and calmness to any skin type, especially in the harsh winter weather. However, it doesn't have any SPF if you're looking for it. Overall, this store experience was great. The store is nicely organized, I scored samples of a masque that I've been wanting to try, and the extremely nice store associate, Zoila, gave me a couple extra so I could really try it out a few times before I decide whether I like it or not. The $20 Kiehl's cash is still going on so take advantage of it while it lasts! read more

Friendly and helpful staff. I asked about several lotions and they were nice enough to provide some samples. In the end I wound up making a purchase that I really enjoy. Yay for being open (about three weeks? now) and having a location near my work. When in a crunch, I have bought from Kiehl's at the Armitage location or at Nordstrom. It's nice having it on the first floor of the Shops at Nordstrom building (or whatever it's called) with access from inside the mall or off Michigan Avenue. It's bright, roomy, and has some of the nicest employees. Winter is almost here. My skin needs some lovin'. I love Kiehl's Soy Milk & Honey body scrub. It not only smells great, but it helps dry patches I tend to get during this time of year. I received some Kiehl's coupons in the mail and wanted to use one to replenish my scrub stash. Then I saw the gift sets...dillemma. After some searching around and convincing from an employee, I decided to not use my coupon since I can't use on gift sets. The gift set, which came with the scrub and other proudcts, was cheaper than buying each of those items individually. That had me sold! I am still a fairly new user of Kiehl's products and have grown to be fan during winter season. Yay to smooth skin! read more

At first I ignored it like oh maybe they think I know what I'm doing (I didn't) but after 10 minutes of wandering and watching them laugh and giggle amongst themselves I figured they were probably laughing at me and were giggling about how they weren't going to help me. So I left! I ended up going to their Lincoln Park store where I was treated like royalty and had so many different products presented and explained to me. I am late, but I writing this review because Judy. Lately good customer service seems to be a thing of the past. Well I must have stepped into a time machine and traveled back in time. I went into Kiehl's to make a quick purchase where I was greeted by Judy. I was asked if I needed some assistance, given some advice on products and left alone to shop in peace. Once I needed assistance Judy was there to provide me with information so I could make the perfect choice for an item I didn't even know I needed. Judy was very friendly, warm as well as extremely helpful. I received some great samples and some tips on the use of other products. You might think that's her job to assist and sell products, but she is very good at what she does. Kiehl's definitely hit the mark with Judy. I was surprised about the excellent service I received at this Kiehl's store. I went in as I simply wanted to restock on the facial cleanser they offer (highly recommended). After being immediately asked by a lady whether she could assist me and denying that, I was left in peace browsing products. Nevertheless, she mentioned that a $20 rebate would become active if I spent more than $20. When I realized later on that I do need assistance with additional product selection, another lady was immediately at service and helped me. She made some good recommendations and also made spot-on suggestions to get exactly over the 60$ limit to get the rebate. She also gave me an abundance of excellent samples. The reason I am giving 5 stars is that I realized 3 days later that the lid of the cleanser had somehow cracked (I suspect the room service lady at my hotel). I went back to the Kiehl's shop and politely asked what they could do. After briefly examining the lid but without requiring any receipt (I had thrown it away btw) or any other proof of purchase, they immediately gave me a new one and wished me a great day. Kiehl's products are relatively expensive but some are the best in the business for men and you get what you pay for when it comes to their excellent service. read more

I had ordered a moisturizer on black friday with free delivery. Unfortunately, the order was mispackaged and they gave me the wrong full size product. Customer service was really great and gave me a refund, but I had to call to reorder. I decided to go to the store instead on Michigan Avenue. The sales associate was really great and didn't try to upsell me. She gave me a couple of samples and really provided great advice about the moisturizer use. The store was small, but clean. I normally go to the Kiehl's in Lincoln Park, but it was convenient for me to stop by the Michigan Avenue store this time. I will never make this mistake again. First, I was ignored by both salespeople who tended to customers who came in after me. Then, one of the women answered by question reluctantly after I waited by the shampoo. She failed to tell me that the item that I was looking for was discontinued (which I found out by going to the Lincoln Park store where customer service matters more). When I was finally able to get help, the woman rushed me was very rude. I called to complain to a manager the next day. She apologized and claimed that she was going to send me something in the mail to make up for the terrible service, but never did so. I will never return to this location. I don't recommend it. Go to Lincoln Park. Everyone is always extremely helpful and friendly there. read more

This store is great. All the Kiehl's products I have tried (and it has been many) are all wonderful. Tony - the store manager - and his team are amazing. They have great client service and can assist you with all the products. Reminder even if you are just going in for 1 or 2 products, ask this great staff questions and pick up samples to find what other products you may like, want, need, :) I have gotten my sisters, mom, husband, 2 sons, and many friends all using the products...they love what results they have with the products. I spend a fair amount of money buying Kiehls products every month. Today I went to their store inside Nordstroms in Michigan Avenue. I asked for Kiehls silk groom for hair. The attendant told me that they did not know that product ?! When I insisted and told them I always buy it, one of them said: " we ran out of it." I asked when are you receiving more.. She actually said " I don't know" I insisted politely, the answer " well maybe in the new year.. " what? Are you kidding me? She was rude, aloof and pissed off a really good client.
