While disappointing results can sometimes happen, what bothered me most was the complete lack of communication afterward. I reached out to Masaki on May 13 regarding my concerns and attempted to resolve the issue privately. I never received a response. It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

This really pissed me off because in the middle of my appointment, I even heard an assistant ask in Mandarin "is she getting a haircut?" and the stylist shook his head. I was really unhappy with my hair that I went to get a hair treatment (for the dry, damaged hair) and toner at a different salon a week later. That stylist even asked "who did your hair?"

I was a bit disappointed to see that it looked nothing like the picture and it was fake rose petals which I thought was weird. I'll give them an A for effort though although it looked nothing like the picture. The massage was amazing. She did a really great job. Most of my massages are pretty rough but she did a great job with light to medium pressure. I really liked the glass of champagne and the chocolate truffles. The private soak was nice but I really enjoyed the sauna. It was definitely a great experience. Came out feeling revitalized. My boyfriend really enjoyed the massage and the amenities.

Let me start by saying that the Kieran McKenna Salon is simply the best choice when one wants georgeous hair. I had previously gone to a salon (who shall not be named at this time) that (hopefully with originally good intentions) gave me a haircut that initially looked ok, but as time went on, (and my hair started to grow back out) my head started to resemble Niagara Falls. In my most desperate hour of need, Kieran (the owner of the salon) sat me down with Caitlin (IG: #hair_by_cait). They set me up with a plan to gradually cut my hair to correct the disaster that sat on my head. Even after the very first time, I already felt amazing! Not only did Caitlin performed a miracle of a haircut, she also encouraged me to fulfill my life-long dream of becoming a redhead. And that is how I met Jana, who transformed me into the person I've always wanted to be. I got out of the salon speechless that day. I can never thank this amazingly talented group enough to making me look like I just walked off a magazine!!! I have not stopped getting compliments on my hair. read more

Kieran McKenna has cut my hair well over 25 years now. I've followed him from John Frieda, through Oscar Blandi and now to his own terrific salon. He listens. Aesthetically aware of the shape of a client's face-an approach with which he surprised me early on, he takes texture, color, movement, and, when applicable (especially summer), ease of care into consideration. He'll share intentions and explain why. If I didn't enjoy talking to him, I could confidently fall asleep in the chair. He's managed my mostly shoulder length, wavy hair and worked wonders with mom's sudden desire for a Judi Dench cut with equal panache. Time is taken. If something is amiss - dryness, split ends, patchy color-whatever, Kieran (and his carefully chosen staff) speak up and have an up-to-date solution. Neither products nor services are, however, pushed. The salon is small, comfortable, stylish and attentive. No blaring rock n'roll, no long waits. It's clear other in-house artisans like and respect one another. The place kind of hums. Highly recommended. read more

Visiting New York from Boulder, Colorado, I decided spur of the moment to just walk into the salon to see if someone could give me a wash and blow out. As I walked in the door, I was greeted with a gigantic smile and loud hello from Kieran. And then from everyone else I came into contact with. So very welcoming! Additionally, Caitlin proceeded to give me a beautiful "doo." Such attention to detail, she even trimmed my bangs and did a little thinning action on my too-heavy hair. I loved it! And if all that weren't enough, Kieran's lovely mum - and coat check lady extraordinaire - literally walked me to the subway station to make sure I caught the correct train back to my hotel!! Wow! Let me start off by saying WOW! I went in to Kieran McKenna salon last week and was completely blown away by how talented, knowledgeable, caring and amazing Kieran was! I have NEVER left a salon so happy! I have been dealing with extreme thinning and I get very nervous and self conscious now when I get my hair done but Kieran had so many helpful tips and made me feel comfortable and hopeful that we can get my hair back to looking healthy and great! I've known Kieran for many years. He cut my hair when I was in my early twenties and we lost touch. I tried stylist after stylist and never received the amazing cut that I used to get from him. One day searching I found he had opened his own salon. I was thrilled to be reunited with him. He is as amazing as he ever was,taking such care with my hair and nerve letting me feel he hasn't given it his all. I saw Laura for my color and she went above & beyond for my hair. She did an absolutely amazing job and I will definitely return to the salon FOR HER. She was very knowledgeable and I appreciate her input on what I wanted done. What makes a great colorist in my opinion is one that makes what you want done work for you. Laura did this for me. Highly recommend Manuela for Keratin treatment. Was hesitant to get the keratin treatment for years until I was referred to Kieran Mckenna Salon by an influencer via social media. I followed Manuela from Oscar Blandi to here and experienced the same level of service in a more intimate setting, which I enjoyed. It's also a plus that they use Oribe products, which I love. Price point was a deciding factor. Came back again this spring. This time around for cut only. First time everything went well. Got my hair cut last (second visit) time. And the stylist left an ear lock behind my ear. He trimmed behind on ear, and probably forgot to trim it behind another ear. I wear my hair very short with sharp edges. After being a client of Suite Reyad for over four to five years, I have never experienced such…read moredismissive and unprofessional treatment from a business that presents itself as a luxury salon. I traveled over three hours from Port Jefferson into Manhattan for a 4:30 PM appointment. I arrived at approximately 4:50 PM, only to be told that the stylist had already left because the staff "assumed I wasn't coming." What is unbelievable is that no one from the salon attempted to call or text to check whether I was on my way something that would have taken seconds and could have easily prevented this situation. Instead, the woman at the front desk simply informed me the stylist had left and that there were "no rules" for accommodating me. The delivery was dry, dismissive, and completely lacking any sense of hospitality. There was no apology, no attempt to contact the stylist, no effort to help resolve the situation, and not even the basic courtesy of offering water or coffee after I had just spent hours traveling to the city. When I spoke to the owner about what happened, rather than acknowledging that a simple courtesy call could have prevented the situation, he repeatedly brought up that I had canceled appointments in the past "nine times," which he mentioned over and over as if that somehow justified the complete lack of communication or professionalism in this situation. I made it clear that those appointments had been canceled, not no-shows, which is a completely different thing. Yet he continued repeating the number as if lecturing a customer who had supported the salon for years. At one point he even said he could charge me immediately for those nine cancellations if I wanted to "play that game," which was astonishing to hear from a business owner speaking to a client who had been coming there for years and consistently tipping generously. For a salon operating inside The Pierre Hotel and presenting itself as a high-end luxury experience, the complete absence of accountability, hospitality, or even basic courtesy was shocking. The entire interaction made it very clear that once a client becomes inconvenient to their schedule, loyalty and long-term support mean absolutely nothing. After five years as a client and hours spent traveling for this appointment, the dismissive attitude from both the front desk and the owner made it clear that this is not a business that values the people who support it. They also had contactless payment which was great. I wasn't blown away by what they did with my hair. Jax was lovely and was easy to talk to. That being said, I didn't love my result and from that price point, I should be thrilled. My hair took a fair amount of damage from the balayage/highlights they did. The cut was good but again, not blown away. I don't think I will be coming back.

We scheduled my color 2 weeks out because she's super busy, but I went in same day for a cut. Victor was fantastic and gave me an edgy lob/bob. Vassi checked my hair out in person and we confirmed for two weeks, so I'll update this weekend. They're super professional and friendly, and the venue is cozy and clean. I saw a few other clients while there, and they seemed really pleased with their hair services too! Moderate pricing for the area, and services need to be scheduled individually, i.e. blowout and haircut. I'm looking forward to returning this week to see how the color turns out. Update: Took about 3 hours, and I love the cool blonde with silver highlights! Vassi and Victor did a really great job and I love the color. Most surprising was how healthy my roots feel after it all compared to my processed ends from previous treatments. Super awesome experience, and I'll be coming back for cut and color needs. Also, all of the other clients within that three hours also talked about how they liked their blowouts, so it seems like CH has a really strong base of regular customers!!
