I waited a very long time for Elda to come back to work. She formally worked at blondies. She has the most amazing skills of anyone I have ever had cut my hair and color it. When I walked into the salon I had 3 inch of gray hair growing from my scalp. Not only did she get my hair back to beautiful she cut it she colored it and I look Simply Amazing. I would definitely definitely say she's five stars and I will be back. The atmosphere at the salon is very low-key they treat you like you're a queen or King if your man. Very very calming and extremely relaxing to go and not have any craziness going on around you. I will give 2 stars... I have been going here since it opened for color, largely because it was convenient. Alma is a good colorist. Back then I would give 4 stars for color with Alma. I stopped getting cut here about a year ago because I didn't like the cut. It grew out very uneven. I didn't mind changing stylists for cuts and quietly started going elsewhere. I went yesterday for a second highlight appointment with Violeta. I usually see Alma, but Alma does not work Thursday and Violeta did a pretty good job on a full head of highlights on my last visit. Yesterday was a completely different story. I'm not sure what she was thinking, but my usual golden blonde highlights that needed a root touch up not only took 2.5 hours (I've had a full head done in that time BY Violeta) but she made the roots a "pearl blonde." Her words. Not only does the color not work with my medium skin tone but i now have roots that favor an ash grey and the rest of a head that is golden blonde. Picture a cheap looking reverse ombre. I went back for toner and it did not do much to help and also caused some breakage. Alma asked me to come back and she would fix it. I know she means well but I am not sure why people think people have nothing else to do but allow them to play hair salon all afternoon, as we are already 5 hours invested of my life, and I am not sure my hair can withstand any more "modifications." I will never set foot in there again. A color correction is what has to happen and is not only expenIve but time consuming (and like everyone else, I don't have time to do it) so I think im going to let this grow out for a bit and head to the salon where I get excellent hair cuts for color. Side note, when I came back Violeta was laughing at the situation, which caused me to become irate. She did not like how I spoke to her. I was very angry. I guess she thought I should have given her a big hug and thanked her for ruining my hair. Note to self next time someone wastes your time and money, and laughs at you hug them and thank them. I would be very careful going here for blondes. I have completely lost faith and will never be back. read more

Oscar is a true artist. Walking by on a sunny Saturday I stopped in for some low lights and balayage to smooth my root line. He knew exactly what I wanted and proceeded to make me comfortable - I trusted him immediately. The final color turned out so beautifully. Darkened roots blended into a lovely medley of browns and blondes. His warmth, artistic touch and genuine desire to make his clients happy is something rare in this city (I've gone to many, many stylists over the last 15 years in NYC). I've should of written this review a long time ago, I used to live on the upper west side for a few years and stumbled across Alma at a previous salon. Oh boy is she amazing. In the past shes taken from extremely dark hair almost black to a beautiful blonde. Now a few years later moved out of NYC but still make it a point to visit her and every couple of month! Definitely not the place to go for guys looking for a fade of any kind. Probably fine for just scissor cut. Went here randomly because my regular barber was unexpectedly closed and I needed a haircut. I showed a picture and explained what I needed (nothing complicated- a medium skin fade and 1/4 inch off the top). I've never seen someone so scared to use clippers. She asked me if it was short enough, I said she could do more, but she claimed the machine was on the zero setting and she couldn't take more off. It's not a bad cut necessarily, but it looks like my usual fade after about 10 days. Not worth paying $35 when you can go to a barber for $27 and get a cut in half the time that lasts twice as long. I felt bad pushing her to take more length off so I just went with it. It's not the most even fade I've had but it's not the worst either. I'm sure they're great for women's hair or longer men's hair but not what I needed. Won't be returning. read more

I came here the first time a few months ago and really liked my hair cut. The most recent time I went scarred me, though, which is why I'm ranking this so low. Not to get into so many details, but I had a bad experience with a bang trim that the stylist blamed me for, then told me that yes it was too short for side bangs after she cut it straight and then told me that if my English was an issue, I should bring a photo next time. I cried when I got home. This was a negative experience and I will not return. read more

I walked by Class Hair Studio and it looked gorgeous and modern on the inside, so I decided to book an appointment. I called the salon and the owner (Alma) picked up and she was able to book an appointment for me within a few days. This is awesome considering at some other salons in the area it takes months to get an appointment due to COVID. When I walked in I was greeted and taken right away. I showed Alma a picture of what I wanted and she delivered beyond expectations. She matched the picture almost perfectly and my color and haircut looks BOMB! Alma and her staff were also very friendly and personable. The whole vibe was on point and it was a very relaxing environment. This just opened around the corner from me. I was previously going to Drybar but after having a bad experience there, this may be my new go to place. I went in to receive a blowdry and was immediately seen by Vivian. She did an amazing job, blowing out my hair smooth but with a bit of body which is exactly what I wanted. It is a bit small, about six stations but very clean with a fun and lively playlist. The young girl gave a nice head massage and I only paid $35 for the service which may be introductory (?) while they are building clients but what a great deal!
