This dude was recommended by a friend and did a lazy job when putting my coil packs back into place. He put the wrong screw back into place, and my car was misfiring and I couldn't figure it out. My heart was so sad when I went by Kike's and saw that they are now closed indefinitely as of two weeks ago! I have no idea what I am going to do. Recently I needed new rotors and brakes and Kike went above and beyond for me. He always makes sure to answer all my questions and be that "father figure" when it comes to cars for me. My radiator cracked as I left LAX. Called Kike based on the great yelp reviews and they had my car ready by the end of the day. I highly recommend his shop. It was really clean, well organized and the crew was very polite and efficient. When I picked it up he had gone the extra mile and topped off all the other fluids and checked and tightened other hoses as a courtesy . The price was extremely reasonable too. read more

LADIES! This one is for YOU! Last week I would have given this place a five star review but after my experience this morning my entire opinion has changed. Being a woman, finding a mechanic you like is especially hard. Generally I have found that most mechanics are both sexist and total rip offs, but after the first couple of times dealing with Kike, I was happy to say he was just sexist (you should hear how he speaks to me vs to my boyfriend, it's almost laughable!)! If I have to pick one or the other, I'd rather be spoken to like I have an inferior brain than be totally ripped off, at least as far as dealing with my car goes. Anyway, took my car in to Kike this morning for an oil change (along with my boyfriend who also brought his in for the same thing. This is probably the third time we have taken our cars here together as we live super close and were happy with the service we had received before today) and when I picked it up a couple of hours later I noticed a nice dent on the drivers side door along with multiple scratches that removed paint on the same side from front bumper to rear. I brought this up to Kike who promptly informed me that it couldn't have been any of his guys who did that to my car, because (wait for it, this is good) there is only one place in the ENTIRE SHOP where they could possibly hit any car! Only one! In a whole shop and tiny parking lot that they are constantly cramming cars into and juggling cars around in. Imagine that. Only one place, and if they had hit my car in this one special place, it would for sure 100% no doubt about it have blue paint transfer on my car, which it does not. Now, I've got a couple of dents on the hood and roof of my car from a bad hail storm back east a few years ago and one scratch from someone else opening their car door into mine, but other than that my car was fine this morning before I dropped it off. This new dent is on the drivers side door and I noticed it IMMEDIATELY as I walked up to the car. If it had been there before I took my car in, I would have noticed it then. Anyway, long story relatively short, he's refusing to take responsibility for messing my car up and refusing to pay to fix all of the damage he or one of his guys did. You know what he did do though? He didn't charge my boyfriend for his oil change. Dents my car, gives my boyfriend a free oil change. What a guy, that Kike! Don't take your car here - if you're in the Hawthorne area there are a million auto shops around - TRY ANY ONE BUT THIS ONE! read more

ZERO STARS! I don't know if BERNIE is his real name but do not let this so called mechanic touch your car. I should personally let the owner know that side jobs are being done in his shop but I'm over it all. I've paid some much cash for a simple break job. I would understand if I were having mechanical issues but all I went to this person for was a change of break pads, rotors and calipers & ended up with a nightmare and an unsafe car to drive. Had to go to a dealership just to get some REAL HELP and ended up being told the opposite of what this guy told me the problems were. Having to pay for ALL KNEW CALIPERS AGAIN after I literally just paid this guy for new ones. Being told I was getting good quality break pads when they're the cheapest ones. Damaged all 4 of my bleeder tips (one chipped off completely) when I only went to get the two back ones at this shop. Car felt completely fine prior to going here. All I went in for was simple break maintenance. I could go on in more detail but It's not worth making this any longer. read more

All I can say is... Kike is the man. He tells you the truth, gives you a great deal and is cooler than the other side of the pillow. He talks to you so that you can understand. I went through Kike through a friend who blew our his engine. And Kike work out something with him. When I had my 1995 Jeep Cherokee, he was came through for me multiple times.... Yup, multiple times. He kept me up to date with it and he called me whenever I had to leave my Jeep there. One time he stayed open log enough for me to pick it (my Jeep) and it was like 15-20 minutes after they close. Kike is a good man and I would trust with butter in a sweltering desert. NOTE: They are a "Check Only" smog place. Needed to smog check my '91 Wrangler and they are close to the house, so went at 1:45pm on a Monday (will advise to call and let them know you are coming, smog guy doesn't let the shop know when he takes off so I had to return 25 minutes later). They charge $40 with certificate, but no free retest (it's $10). Most places charge close to $50 with free retest so I decided to take the gamble (which it was, I had have the Jeep fixed last time to pass at a different tester and shop). If you are fascinated by large macaws, there's a blue and yellow one in the waiting area to hold your attention. If not, you're out of luck - their dish/cable went out 5mins after I arrived. Also, if you have small children, you will need to keep an eye on them as the cage is left open so the bird can climb on top. The test was finished in about the standard 10-15mins and my midnight blue girl passed with no problems. BIG CON: the test bay is directly off El Segundo Blvd, so you will need the tech to help you back out onto a relatively busy street and sidewalk (about 20 people walked by while I was there). BIG PLUS: there is a Mexican seafood place (El Puerto Escondido which has a 4 star Yelp rating) directly next door and on the other side of it is a McDonald's with WiFi that was completely rebuilt just last month. read more
