Went in on a Friday night and was surprised that we were seated immediately. Started off with the Deep fried corned beef appetizer, and was the opposite of disappointed. What a flavor combo! While I had the Shepherd's Pie, and was thoroughly amazed, the other offerings looked appetizing as well, making my choices from the limited menu (a sign of the times) difficult. Everything looked and sounded appetizing. Our server was attentive and friendly without being overly intrusive. The decor is very pub-like, with lots of comfortable seating, even with the reduced table count. Parking isn't bad, at least when some person doesn't take up 6 parking spaces with their truck and boat trailer. I look forward to my next visit! read more

A gorgeous Irish pub with amazing food and atmosphere. It was crowded when we went for lunch, I had the stew while my girlfriend had Shepard pie which both were delicious. I personally wasn't feeling that great but the food itself hit a savory spot and helped me perk up a ton. We'll definitely return again as it seems we have found a new favorite restaurant. What a lovely surprise. The lamb stew is delightful! I prefer it with the potatoes on the side. Either way it is delightful, and the staff was pleasant. I do prefer lunch time dining as it can get a bit booming and loud at dinner time, so those with hearing aids should be forewarned. I love this place! I grew up coming here with my grandma and grandpa. We stopped after my grandfather passed, but recently we started coming a lot again! I did not have a good experience with Mother's Day Brunch. Our reservation was at 10:00 and we did not see a waiter until 10:20 when he came for our drink order. We were a family of 5, including my mother. There were no flowers, nothing special inside for the occasion - just a dark corner booth by the bar. They had just opened and did not appear too busy. There was no regular brunch menu on the table, so I asked the waiter and was informed they were not serving their weekend brunch menu, only the 4 "Mother's Day Brunch Specials" plus the regular menu. When I made the reservation, I asked if the regular brunch menu would be served and was informed it would be. Otherwise, I would not have reserved. No one in my family wanted these 4 items and it was a bit early for the regular menu. Also, I cannot eat gluten or dairy so my options were even more limited. I explained this to the waiter and that I really just wanted an omelet and he checked with the kitchen. They would not oblige. My boys ordered the waffles which came with strawberry and whipped cream topping. It was not fresh strawberries, instead was watery strawberries that were clearly previously frozen. The topping soaked through the waffles. There was only a tiny bit of whipped cream. My sons did not like them as they were soggy with strawberry flavored water. My 10 year old wouldn't even eat them even though he was starving (I made him waffles when I got home). There was no sausage, no fruit, no bacon, etc., which we all expected would be standard with brunch. Just this fixed menu of 4 items. The coffee was served with no saucer or napkins - no place for the spoon! The food took quite awhile - almost an hour. We were served without any silverware and they did not even notice. Waiter was polite and tried to accommodate, but seemed inexperienced. Overall, this was really disappointing, and not sure I want to go back. read more

I love this place...we stop by fairly often and we like to sit in the bar side. The crowd is always nice. Tonight my husband wanted to eat dinner at the bar. I was hesitant...I like to have a table. We had a great time. We met another couple who sing in an Irish band. They are performing two dates in March. The band is called Tipsc (spelled correctly, checked twice) and they are performing on St. Patrick's Day (12 noon-5). Again, visit often and everything is so good. Tonight was exceptionally good. I ordered the baby iceberg salad...always so simple and deliYou can't go wrong with blue cheese and bacon on a salad. My husband had the corned beef dinner. The portions are huge and I had a few bites of his dinner. The corned beef dinner had a side of carrots and parsnips....try it...absolutely delicious! We brought home a piece of chocolate cake. I knew my husband would want it later. The cake was about 5 layers of dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream between each layer. We have been home for less than an hour and the cake is gone! He said he is a expert on chocolate cake and this is one of the best! UPDATE...I just called to order a piece of chocolate cake for two...and the server that answered the phone told me that I could not order anything off the menu during brunch!!! I was stunned!! I said, "Are you telling me that you won't cut a piece of cake to go?" Again she repeated her speech about the menu. I just hung up! I understand not cooking dishes during the brunch buffet. After dinner was done a dust bunny floated down onto the table from the ceiling fan. The amount of dust layered on the blades gave the impression the fans hadn't been cleaned in some time. I had the worst drinks I've ever had, even what is usually the best Irish coffee anywhere was nowhere near as good! We were at a table right near the entrance to the outside tent and even though there were two bands nearby, we couldn't hear either one and it wasn't because of people talking...it was the equipment. We had to leave our table off and on to go stand next to them. As for the bands, what we could hear, they were terrible!!!! It's St. Patrick's Day...no one comes to hear country, gentle rock or top 40 especially when you're NOT good at it!!! We come for Irish music!!! JUST Irish music!!! My friend asked one band to play a popular Irish song that we hear every year and they didn't even know it! I will tell you that the wait staff were AMAZING!!! They were running back and forth non stop and making it happen! Kudos to such a great staff!!! That said, Killarney House, DO BETTER!!!! You're better than what you gave us yesterday especially on St. Patrick's Day! If you're going to charge the same high prices then give us what we pay for! My Wife And I Love This Place! We discovered it on a whim while traveling, and to Our amazement, this place was the perfect destination! Our server Donald was so wonderfully kind and attentive. I just love this place! The service is as excellent as the food, with one exception- my wife ordered the fish and chips and was ill later that night; we figured it had to be that since we'd eaten all the same stuff the rest of the day. Usually, that's a dealbreaker for her, but...well...its the only Irish pub nearby and we really like the place so we decided to give it another go, she'll never order the fish again tho, that I can tell you. Anyhow, we stuck with our usual order- burger and steak fries and as usual, it was awesome! I know, a lot of folks would say a burger is a burger is a burger...except, it isn't. Of all of the places in and around Bowie where one can get a burger, the ones I've had here are the best I've had in the area. There's some great ones to be had in this area too- but these ones are just right- ground chuck, grilled to order, not overly seasoned or bland, just the right balance. They serve them on these kaiser rolls (they give'm a different name but it is mostly the same style of roll) that are perfect for the job and who doesn't love hot, crispy yet tender steak fries, right? This review is going to encompass the last three visits since our last review- Mistie is still awesome, she was our bartender for one of those days, Allie was our bartender for the two Sunday visits we made- we didn't know they did brunch on Sundays so we ended up sitting at the bar, and are we glad we did! With the brunch setup, the bar is sort of closed off with just enough seating for eight or so patrons, very cozy. Nothing like being able to get your drink right when you order it, and Allie was as much fun as Mistie- and both of them pour a perfect Black & Tan, which I found out, isn't as easy as it sounds because they showed me how to do it. It should be, but I don't have the patience for it and just end up with black beer. LOL In any event, a couple of updates w/regard to the food- the medieval stew is FREAKING AWESOME, as is the shepherd's pie and I don't know if either dish is authentic Irish cuisine, but I do know that both are very good- ended up ordering the shepherd's pie to go, it was fantastic the next day. Considering that the owners came over from Ireland, they probably are. Also, it wasn't all that warm out when we went, so both of those dishes served us in good stead. I can see me ordering that pretty regularly during the cold weather months...those two dishes are the very definition of 'stick to your ribs'. Ordinarily, I'm a habitual type...I find one or two dishes on a menu that I really like and I'm all set- that'll be all I ever order when I visit a given establishment. I'm determined, though, to work my way through the menu...but everytime I go, I seem to get a burger. Funny, that. Before I forget, Monday nights are $5 BURGER NIGHT- say what? You heard me. I also plan on making my way through their on-tap lineup but I, well...I just started drinking Black & Tan's a month ago when I was curious as to how they tasted and now I order them wherever I go and judge how well they're poured. Good stuff, that. But they've got all sorts of interesting sounding beers, it'd be a shame not to at least try them all one time! One last thing, I have yet to be seated in the restaurant side- something about the bar area I find more relaxing and the patrons are also pretty friendly, too which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Almost like I have my own version of Cheers- they don't all know my name just yet, but they will. My wife has a friend, her and her husband have never been in the bar area- but they love the place just as much as we do. They must be doing something right! If the fish hadn't set the wife off, I'd be giving 5 stars for this place...and I really, really want to because I love the place. read more

My husband drives by here on his way home from the city and suggested we try their brunch as he knows I am a breakfast/brunch kind of girl. The staff were all sweet and you could see by their interactions with many of the guests that this is a family kind of restaurant with many regular customers. The selection was quite nice with salads, hot dishes, desserts, omelettes to order, roast beef. While it wasn't the best brunch I'd ever been to; nor was it the worst and the friendly, cozy atmosphere of regulars over tourists you run into in town made it a lovely Sunday drive and meal! read more

We also had the corned beef poppers with spicy mustard. Fried to perfection with just the right amount of batter. The spicy mustard really takes these poppers to the next level. Stopped in for lunch bc I was craving fish and chips. This place receive a lot of great reviews and is fairly close to home. Wasn't very busy and I sat in the bar section where there were a few tables. The bartender was also the waiter which makes sense since there were only a few people. The fish part was delicious, with a very crispy batter. I've never been to England or Ireland to know what the authentic platter tastes like but I would bet this comes close. You can taste the beer in the batter but it's quite subtle. Now, I don't like beer at all and hate it in any batter but this one wasn't bad. The chip part was sadly a disappointment. It was warm but I could tell it wasn't right out of the fryer. I'm the type of person that prefers to eat food piping hot and straight out of the pot. Fries were on the soggier side. Oh well at the least the fish part was good. Also I originally ordered a glass of lemonade and then for my 2nd glass I ordered a cherry coke the old school way, you know, coke with cherry syrup. This is not the type of place I would normally stop at, but we came here for a dinner fundraiser and I was pleasantly surprised. The place is divided into a bar side and a restaurant side. The ambience on the restaurant side is warm and the service is efficient. I had the potato and leek soup to start and the shepherd's pie as an entree, which was piping hot and delicious and oh so hearty of a meal. My friend had the portabello mushroom sandwich and it was only okay, nothing special. This is not the type of place you would bring someone who likes to eat clean and fresh and organic, but if you're looking for a hot and substantial meal, Killarney's is good for that! read more

We went to Killarney House for Sunday Brunch. There was a sign outside that said to just seat yourselves. We picked a table on the outside which was closest to the road. The patio was very spacious and clean. There was some red flowery bushes between the road and our table that were very well kept and beautiful. Especially at 1:30 with the sun shining on them. We ordered 2 Black and Tans 10 $6.75 which were served at perfect temperature in Large Guinness Glasses. Perfect amount of creamy head! We ordered the Beat Salad 8.5for an appetizer which they split without asking (That's called great service?!). Served with an Apple cider vinaigrette. I was looking forward to candied walnuts. But they were not candied. But still delicious and fresh. I would definitely get this again! Irish Reuben 7.5 for Main Course. Rye was not overly saturated with butter. Perfectly Crisp. The Corn Beef texture was like it was taken from the corn beef and cabbage (not sliced or grilled). Very moist like pot roast. Sauerkraut was not overly coarse. Tasted bagged but hard to tell on a sandwich. Irish mustard was a change, but I was left craving the zing of the 1000 Island Dressing. Served with Steak Fries (pre frozen) like Red Robin but fried longer to get those crispy brown edges! Dessert 7.5 was served room temperature with A Vanilla Sauce. Coffee was fresh and served piping hot! Service 10 CARRIE was our server. Amazing how Incredible Service makes you want to come back! We played it safe and we received safe food and awesome service. I believe that if you cant get safe right, there is no sense wasting your money trying the challenging dishes.
