Some of the heavily laden sugar food

This place has deteriorated over the last decade and is now coasting on the reputation it earned back when Fintan Galway provided actual adult supervision. Today, the bartenders appear to have seized control of the building and are running it like a failed island republic. During my visit, the bartender was so offended by the tip he received for providing virtually no service that he told us not to come back. Apparently, this is not an exclusive honor--I heard him deliver the same farewell to other customers over the past month. Business must be spectacular, because management seems confident it can survive with rude bartenders, indifferent service, and a customer-retention strategy built around banishment. At this point, the place is either a prime takeover target for Atlas, the newest leveraged-buyout firm in town, or an ideal candidate for Bar Rescue. Guy Fieri should stay away; there is nothing here worth taking to Flavortown. Unless something changes, the customer base may soon consist entirely of St. John's students who wandered in while debating whether hospitality is merely a social construct.

Charming Irish pub in a quaint street of Annapolis. We opted for this place because it's not in a touristy area. But when you walk into the restaurant, they had a good number of guest in there. The portion of the food here is generous. Server was able to answer some questions and give recommendation. They have good selection of beers.

A nice hidden gem in downtown annapolis! Love the ambiance and vibe of this place. Beers and cocktails are great. The food is all nicely sized portions. The fried pickles were spears which was cool-- never had that before! I enjoyed my espresso martinis. All the men loved the guinness beer in an Irish Bar. Recommend!

Galway Bay was recommended to us by an alumni of the Naval Academy, and I am so glad we went! We ordered the Shepherd's Pie (beef, not lamb), lamb cheesesteak sandwich and fish and chips. All of it was really fantastic! The service was great, and the hosts were so nice. All around awesome place!

Awesome Irish pub in Annapolis. Bangers and mash were delicious. Sat at the bar and our server was excellent. Great decor. A must if you are in Annapolis

I had lunch at Galway Bay last week when I was in Annapolis for a meeting. It's cozy and warm - especially on a winter day - and the service is warm, too. I had their Irish Breakfast (served all day), which I loved. Good thing I was hungry, because it's a classically and comically large breakfast (protein on protein on protein). Irish food is so great on a chilly day - stews and pies and all those dishes that are so warming. Between their warming food, their warm service, and their warm atmosphere (no TVs in this pub, Galway Bay is for conversations), it's a great place to head right now while the weather is chilly!

Great local pub with tons of character imported straight from Ireland - perfect if you want a burger or cottage pie in an easy going but fun place. Not to mention the most gorgeous plants outside during the summer!

Festive and lively spot to grab a drink and enjoy a meal! I haven't eaten here yet but purely off of drinks it's one of my favorite spots in town during the holidays!

When I asked if they had burgers, he tapped the menu and said, "We are a pizza spot!!!" which immediately set the tone. We decided to stay anyway, but things didn't improve. My husband ordered the braised short ribs, not realizing it came with a spicy sauce. When we brought it up, Bobby told us if it was remade, we'd be charged for both orders. No effort to check with the kitchen or involve a manager -- just a flat no. Then my husband ordered an Old Forester 1924, but was given the 1920 instead. The 1924 is highly allocated and hard to find. when he saw they had it, he really wanted to taste it. When we pointed it out, Bobby just said, "Oh, okay," and never corrected the drink or offered a solution. The only bright spot was the bartender, who was friendly and offered him a taste of the 1924; that was the only moment of good service all night. Really disappointing experience, especially for a birthday celebration. 1 star only because of the bartender.

Menu focuses on both Chesapeake and west coast oysters. They also have a variety of salads, seafood and libations. We ordered a dozen oysters (4 different Chesapeake ones, 3 of each). It was creamy and smoky, topped with caviar and came with flatbread style sesame crackers. It was light and savory. My companion ordered the tuna sashimi special. It had melt in your mouth toro marinated in yuzu and sesame sauce. It was topped with seaweed and came with a side of kimchi aioli. It was definitely the star dish. Whitefish Dip was fine but way too much mayo than the fish. Bread & Butter was disappointing. It shouldn't be something they charge. The bread probably was from supermarket and it wasn't chive butter but green onion. OG Caesar was basically wedge salad with heavy pesto oil, overall oily and salty. Lomi Lomi Salmon... Not good. Hamachi probably was the best thing. Happy hour drinks was the best thing.

A patron next to us asked just before we did and got refused too -- then was abruptly cut off and denied service shortly after talking to us about their own bad experience there. ANOTHER patron, came in after we did, was also treated rudely and refused service. My own issue: ordered a lemon drop with tequila (not vodka.. it makes me sick). First one was fine. After a bartender shift change, the new bartender -- who was actually the shift lead -- made my second one, and it was clearly off; I suspected vodka was used. I asked for it to be fixed, was refused.. So I sent it back, and asked for it off the bill. Paid my tab in full, then noticed at tip time the charge was still there. Server said the bartender wouldn't remove it. When I spoke to him directly, he blamed me for ordering something "nobody knows what it is," and when I said I'd dispute it with my card instead, he attempted to snatch my card off the table. I refused to engage further with him, asked for someone else (refused AGAIN) so I left.. I will be disputing the charge with Amex since he was the only one with register access.
