My wife, best friend, and I came here a couple of months ago and loved the old tavern environment. It was very quiet so we got to talk to the two bartenders compared to Crooked Crab which was very busy. Although they both have a crab in their logo, the two are not affiliated. The name is the original tribe name of Chesepiooc which is where the more common name Chesapeake comes from. The beer we had was all wonderful and is made by both their staff and guest brewers. The owner, John, is so nice! I love to come here with my husband!! It's our local pub. It's such a chill spot to enjoy a few beers. You can bring food in, and there is often a food truck. My go-to is their Blood Orange Cider. It is fantastic. My husband likes all their beers here but especially their marzen, Octoberfest beers, and IPAs. read more

My husband and I when to Chesepiooc Real Ale Brewery on Sunday for a quick beer. I am not sure if I was missing something but the parking appeared to be only along the street in front of the Brewery. There was a lot behind the building but I am not sure if there was a rear entrance. I had the Session IPA which I enjoyed. The staff was super friendly and I like the way the brewery was decorated. The bathrooms were clean. They had a food truck on site which you were able to order from an employee inside the brewery and they would deliver it to you. This is a fun little brewery in an unassuming spot off Route 3. They have a wide selection of beers on tap, they're dog friendly, and they often have a food truck outside. I first came here in colder weather so we sat inside with the pups and enjoyed some brews. I could have used a heavier selection of dark beers, but that seems pretty standard everywhere I go. Their menu of beers is a bunch of icons on the wall, and no matter where you stand there is a glare on some part of them, so it's actually really hard to see what they have on tap while you're standing at the bar. They could use a chalk or handwritten menu somewhere on the wall. I've never really encountered anyone super personable or helpful at the bar either, but nobody is unfriendly... We enjoyed our time there until another dog kept barking at mine, so we eventually finished our beers and left. Came back again in warmer weather and was super excited that they had outdoor picnic tables on the lawn! My dogs love a good roll in the grass, so this was the perfect place for them! In our quest to visit every brewery in MD, we came here a couple weeks ago. Picked up food at Newks and after winding thru the business park we found it. Where to park is not clear at all. Street parking seemed ok but some clarity would be good. It was not busy at all except for a birthday party group. There was a food truck. Grabbed a high top table and ordered our beers. No sours but a nice blood orange cider. The inside is nice and clean. So why the three stars? Unenthusiastic bartenders, not much variety on tap. Also keep the door open for the crew outside smoking to fill the place with smoke. And most of the crew was at least two sheets to the wind. It was unpleasant. read more

The only reason they get 2 stars is the beer is good. However, they willfully refuse to post or otherwise show what the cost of the beers are. You order a beer, and you only find out what it costs when you pay....leaves ALOT of room for shifty bartenders. Not saying they have any, but why provide the opportunity? My friend and I finally got around to trying this brewery as it is right down the road from us. We came on a busy Saturday - the place was packed. They were having some kind of event but we were luckily able to snag a few seats at the bar. One thing that was a little off putting initially was - we were sitting literally right next to the line to order and we asked if we could just place our orders from where we were at the bar. The bartender asks but the main person says no they have to get in line as it looks like they were only working off one tablet at the time. We understood - it was busy and it was to keep things in order but it was like really? Stands up - in the line. Anyways, from there we were served where we were seated at the bar so that was nice. The first beer I had was from a cask. It was okay, but I wasn't initially too impressed. It was fine. A tad too room temperature for me. We stuck around though. Each beer I tried after that seemingly got better and better. They definitely have an array of beers for all different tastes. So maybe just bad luck or my palette wasn't ready with the first beer. Needless to say - happy to have experienced this brewery and would be open to coming by again for another brew! read more

A little hidden gem, opened in Feb '18. Spacious inside, with lots of variety in seating. They have games in the corners, tvs showing the local games, and a large bar area. Speaking of variety-oh gawsh all the beers they have! A nice cross of types, blended with cask specials! While we were there they also changed out two beers. Don't get overwhelmed though, their super friendly bar staff provide ample samples to ensure you commit to a pour you want. Though most of their beer was so great I ended up with two flights (which are super reasonably priced). Their fruit-based flavors have the perfect balance, their porters are bold and heavy-nothing was over syrupy. Very relaxed and chill vibe, located in a one-story building that contains other businesses. The use of wood inside and beautiful bar will make you forget you are in an office park and not an old pub. Quite the variety of ales, beer, and cider on tap. The bartender was very friendly and quick to provide descriptions of the beverages. We used this to plan a reunion of 6-7 people and their 7 small dogs--since it was so hot outside, we needed a dog friendly and air conditioned venue and this filled the bill, since they do not serve food. Came for an event and it was our first time here. It won't be our last. Place is super cute and spacious. The staff was so nice, personable and helpful. We started with two drinks and then transitioned to a flight to try out as many of their offerings as possible. My favorite out of all we've tried so far is the Hazy Express. Finally visited Chesepiooc! Holy crap! This place has been open for 18 months a mile from my house! Shame on me for not getting there earlier and supporting a local business! My wife and I hit Chesepiooc on a Saturday at 1:00 pm. There were only three other patrons enjoying the beer when we arrived. We were greeted by a dog when we arrived, which told me I already loved this place. Yes, your well behaved dogs are allowed inside the bar! My wife and I ordered a couple of drafts. James, bartender at the time, was a great guy and gave us numerous samples until we (read: my wife) decided on a brew. I really enjoyed their selection and had maybe a few more than I should have (read: wife drives home). There's no cooked food. Who gives a crap? They do have salsa, queso, and chips, so they've covered my three food groups. BUT, they have menus from local restaurants that will deliver to the brewery. You can bring your own food if you desire. What's not to love? Plenty of friendly folks started filtering in, so I'm convinced that this is going to be a regular stop from now on. My wife left and went home to get one of our dogs. How many places can you say that you went home and brought your dog back! Steve took over after James and it was a pleasure talking with him. How many folks offer you some of their Royal Farms chicken? These are real good folks. I had a great time here and will be returning soon. They also have awesome T-shirts that everyone in Crofton should buy. They're working on getting a sign on Rt 3 so they can get a little more traffic. I am so glad my husband and I had time to stop by this brewery. They had so many beers to choose from and they were ALL great. There was not one we tried that we didn't like, and that is saying something. My favorite was the smoked beer. Very good smoky flavor-it would go perfect with homemade BBQ. My husbands favorite was the campfire stories. They had a couple of dart boards and plenty of seating. We had a good time. It was a very nice stop to start off our weekend. We came here for a keg opening. Our friends son brewed a keg and it was time to crack it open. They offer this to all patrons. There is a cost but you get to be a brewmaster for a day. The place has a great selection of their craft beers and offers wine and liquor as well. Limited selection but if your partner doesn't like beer they have an option. Snacks are available and they have menus from local restaurants plus food trucks come by. None came by when we were there. A negative is no ice! A positive is you can bring your own food, snacks, ice or whatever except for alcohol beverages. I think that's a good trade off. Roll the dice and try this place. The area was an absolute mess with barely any people inside for a Saturday--it seemed as if there were more kids than adults. Games all over the tables with pieces on the floor. Not exactly what we thought we'd be walking into. We headed to the bar and stood there for awhile waiting for the two bartenders to notice us (talking to each other) and then to clean a table off. The bartenders looked overwhelmed and flustered...still with barely any people to serve? Since we were ignored, we ended up bringing the dishes and wood-slabs up ourselves because they didn't feel like cleaning off the table for us. They then tried to charge us for the receipt that we brought up to them from the dirty table. To us, it seemed someone walked out on their check. Not surprising now. Completely unorganized. We brought in our own food and once we got our individual beer-flights we dug in. Best part of the visit...was our food. Sadly, our favorite style of beers were casked---yucky. I did like two out of the eight we tried but not enough to return. My husband didn't like any of them. We will never return--other breweries in the area have better service, cleaner bathrooms (no soap in their bathrooms) and happier attentive bartenders. read more

Such a good find! I've found that smaller breweries are usually hit and miss but this place is a HIT. I did a flight of pineapple sky, eat a peach, make it a dream and chocolate symphony and they were all amazing. The pineapple sky might be my favorite beer of all time! This brewery embodies the colloquialism "jack of all trades, master of none." I mean that as a compliment. There are a shit-ton of taps. I explored as many styles as I could before getting to the drunk-level that pisses my wife off. This is a sliding window and has to be done with finesse, more an art than science. Anyway... the beer. I had nothing I didn't like, and nothing blew my socks off. Just good, real beer done by people who care. They do flights, and you can get a 5oz pour of anything on tap, which I love. The staff is very beer smart, and super nice. The place is really nice inside as well, which I will admit caught me a bit off guard. Also quite spacious. Don't judge a brewery by its facade, a tale as old as time. They don't have food, but have a binder full of places in the area that deliver. We held our a company event here for about 100 people and everyone really enjoyed it. The space is really well set up for everyone to mingle and chat but there was also plenty of room for people to sit and eat from the food trucks we had parked right outside. There is always great variety in their beer so there was something for all but the biggest hit was the Milkshake NEIPA they brewed especially for our event. Jon and his whole staff were so friendly and helpful, they really made the event easy and fun. I've visited the brewery several times outside of work and it's one of my favorites because I always know I'm going to be able to try something new. They're also very dog friendly, which is a huge plus. The whole pack loves coming here. read more

This is my new favorite brewery that happens to be close to my house--double win! While the selections (and there is no shortage there) rotate, they always keep a few staples. I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to how I like my beer tot date, and I've never had an issue finding a beer I like. They let you sample before you buy, and also offer flights of 4 to try new beers out. Pricing is very fair and the service is friendly and on-point. I also love that they have a "buy a beer" wall where people can buy a beer for a future someone, be that a military member, a special education teacher, a counselor, you name it! Very cool idea! They don't serve food but almost always have a great food truck outside, while still more than happy to let you bring your own food or order delivery. Great spot for Crofton locals, close-by without having to deal with the traffic or crowds in some of the other shopping centers. This is hands down the worst brewery I've ever been too beer wise. The staff was great, helpful, and the service was prompt. Two others and I each obtained a flight of four beers. All of us are beer lovers and had four different beers each. They were all so bad we left. None of us had done that before. This is a cool option nobody knows about because they rarely are crowded. They are in a warehouse in an industrial park across route 3 from golds gym. They have a spacious taproom that is very cool on a hot day. You can sit inside at the bar, sit inside at a table or outside on a picnic table. It's just beer, but if you want to eat bring your own or go to the food truck outside, I mean this place is so cool. The people that work the bar are super friendly, bring your dog or cat. Take home a growler or for free a 32 ounce Crowler. They basically have these huge 32 ounce cans, they fill them with your beer of choice then cap them with a pop top. Recommend putting them in the fridge or even freezer for a while when you get home. The selection is awesome, I had a hazy day pale ale that was fabulous. I recommend you give it a try.
