I fell in love with Kilwin's in southwest Florida. The ice cream is so rich and decadent. Their freshly made waffle bowls are sweet and crisp. My only disappointment with this location is that they did not have Rocky Road which was my favorite flavor of theirs. I would think that would be a basic staple flavor, but I will keep my fingers crossed that it makes an appearance on one of my future visits. It's the only thing keeping me from a 5-star rating. The staff is very helpful and will let you try sample of different flavors if you are unsure of what you want. They all seem to have a great sense of humor too. Be sure to ask for a punch card which allows you to earn a freebie after so many purchases. They also offer several varieties of fudge and chocolate dipped goodies such as Rice Crispy treats, pretzels, apples, marshmallows, and more. The items might seem a little pricey, but worth every penny where the quality of the product is concerned. The first time I was in a Kilwin's was in North Carolina. When I was strolling out of Kotobuki in Babylon, I couldn't believe my eyes. Even though Kilwin's is a chain, it is superb! The ice cream is on the level of a stand alone mom & pop owned ice cream shop! No joke! The girlfriend and I happened to stroll in on a day where they were doing buy one get one free cones! $6 for 2 big ass cones w/ some premium ice cream. Oh my goodness where do I begin? This is a bakeshop but I came here for ice cream and I was overwhelmed with the choices. Everything looked so decadent, rich and bursting with flavor. I honestly couldn't settle for one flavor so the kind girl attending me suggested I can get 1/2 scoops so I can experience more flavors at once. I picked a scoop of cake batter, 1/2 scoop of marshmallow s'more and 1/2 scoop of salted caramel. All in a waffle cone topped with rainbow sprinkles. All I can say is that I was not disappointed. I am sooooooooo addicted to caramel apples & they sell some pretty cool ones. I actually went there specifically for the caramel apples for the first time back in October 2016. I was so excited because it was my first apple of the season. You walk into this store & the scent of chocolate goodness is everywhere. I am instantly transformed to being a kid again. I attempt to engage the teenager behind the counter, to no avail. When she decided to pay attention to my lighthearted jokes about loving how the place smells & looks, she stands there stone faced. I try more smiles & jokes but nothing worked. I finally just ordered my apples without asking about the other products I was interested in because I just wanted to get away from her. I paid & left. A couple of week later I went back & was pleased to see that same girl wasn't working. I had a better experience and was even told that they have a caramel apple club (so to speak) where you buy XXX amount and you get one free (or something like that). Tiny little store front with paid parking only. However.... The sweets are absolutely delicious. The fudge is creamy, chocolatey and melts in your mouth. The datk chocolatr is delicious, the salted caramel chocolate is also incredible. They have a special, buy 2 slices get one free. It costs 8.99 per 1/2lb and each slice is 1/2 lb approximately. The smell brought me in here as I waited for my group to arrive for dinner in Babylon. Oh my gosh, this place is heavenly! The staff were friendly and offered us a tasting of the fudge- yum! I ordered a Tonga (like a Girl Scout Samoa cookie, but with more short bread and less "stuff") and a dark chocolate peanut butter cup ($10 together), as well as a small ice cream ($6). The ice cream was AMAZING. I wish I skipped the Tonga and went right for more ice cream- the Tracks and Babylon ice creams were phenomenal. I haven't eaten the peanut butter cup yet but it was very large! My only complaint was that it was pricey. I spent $16 on a few small treats, which I certainly can't do all the time. We usually go to Kilwins for the ice cream. The kids like superman ice cream, moose tracks and the sorbetto. And the toasted coconut is great. If you are looking for a sweet treat in Babylon Village- forget every other shop. THIS is the place to go. The service was incredibly friendly and helpful. They let us try just about everything. The maple walnut and chocolate fudge was amazing, fresh and not too sweet. We also had the ice cream which was to die for! I experimented with their homemade salted carmel and it was incredible. Ther ice cream selection is a bit limited though they do offer seasonal flavors. They have an assortment of fudge (yum) and chocolates, BUT I was most excited by their variety of chocolate and caramel covered apples! My favorite is their salted caramel covered apple complete with a layer of caramel, a layer or (milk or dark) chocolate, and a sprinkle of sea salt. AND you can ask them to slice the apple for you (I tend to think it tastes better that way letting you actually experience the combination of flavors all at once in appropriate doses rather than taking bites of the chocolate and caramel first, and having leftover apple with no topping). read more

I'm giving Kilwins 4 stars for their ice cream but if it were on chocolate alone, sadly id have to give less. I have given the chocolate several chances hoping maybe it was just the selection Id made and each time I'm disappointed. Last night was the validation when I took my friend and let him decide for himself without any opinion from me. There's some flavor in their chocolate that just doesn't belong there. Idk what it is but personally I don't like it. Maybe it's just a personal choice but I've never NOT liked chocolate. I grew up on Grandma's Kitchen in Wantagh as my go-to chocolate shop. That was my heaven and Kilwins I LOVE your ice cream but I'm hoping for you guys to step it up on the chocolate flavor! I was only at this shop once and greatly controlled myself and only bought a few of these adorable ice cream cone shaped chocolate pops. I should have taken a picture before eating/giving them away because they were so cute and make great gifts/favors, especially for kids. I ate mine and it was delicious. After stopping in at the Kilwins in Babylon a few times after I visited for the first time in September 2014, I am happy to report than I can upgrade my previous review from four stars to five stars, as the owner John M. responded to my previous review by addressing the lack of my favorite flavor, Banana Fudge Pie and explained about the portion sizes seeming smallish in my perspective. Thankfully, on my visits after September 2014 in June 2015, September 2015, and today, I found that this Kilwins was even better than I remembered! Not unlike other times I have been to this Kilwins, the smell of treats like chocolate dipped Oreos, caramel apples, and fudge being freshly made lured me in like a fish on a hook! As always, I found the store to be spotless and slightly old school, with a black and white checkered floor, the treats up front, and the ice cream counter in the back. I was greeted by Alex, who was a very enthusiastic, efficient, and helpful employee working when I came in.I also met John M. the owner, who has always been very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating whenever I came in. While I wanted to get Banana Fudge Pie Ice Cream, which is my all time favorite flavor at Kilwins thanks to its sweet and mild banana base along with sweet, rich, and robust pieces of fudge and it has been available here previously, it was not available today due to it not being rotated. Still, I appreciate that this Kilwins has had it, showing that they really do listen to their customers. Nevertheless, I was not deterred and after sampling various flavors, which were all fantastic, I went for Chocolate, which was creamy and had a sweet and bold flavor along with Mackinac Island Fudge, with a creamy and mild vanilla ice cream base along with velvety chunks of fudge. As always, the ice cream was fantastic and the small, which had two nicely sized scoops (just like in June 2015 and September 2015 too) came out to $5.50, which was very reasonable (and on par with other ice cream shops on Long Island) given the fantastic quality and larger portion size of ice cream than when I first came here, making the ice cream definitely worth the price! All in all, I will definitely return to Kilwins when I am in Babylon (and anywhere they are located) thanks to their fantastic ice cream and sweet treats, excellent service, and clean and pleasant surroundings. read more
