Went here for dessert. They have samples on the counter that you can try. Blueberry waffle cone was good. It was rich, sweet, tangy with crunchy texture. The dark chocolate sea salt caramel cookie is Oreo cookie coated in caramel with dark chocolate and sea salt. It was a little too sweet for me. Service was quick. I love fudge, and when I saw that they had some kind of promotion going on (this was a bit ago - just now getting to writing a review!), I decided to stop by and get grab some sweet treats! They actually have a pretty spacious shop, but they didn't have a lot of their products on display when I came in. I did come in towards the end of the day, so that's probably why they didn't have much left! The staff that was there were friendly and answered any questions I had. I had ordered 1/2 pounds each of the chocolate, chocolate peanut butter and the chocolate English walnut fudge. I really liked the chocolate peanut butter fudge. I think it's my favorite. They're all pretty good, but the chocolate peanut butter fudge was my favorite. Their fudge pairs well with milk, if that's something you like! We tried some fudge, three different truffles, and some ice cream. None of them blew us away- pretty average. The ice cream is quite expensive for what you get and the quality of the cream. I prefer fudge with a bit more flavor and richness; Kilwins fudge is pretty mellow in flavor and not rich, including the traditionally rich fudges like the dark chocolate. Kilwins has amazing chocolate treats. I spend about $50 on Valentines Day on chocolate covered strawberries and truffles. The only problem with Kilwins every time go in is the staff. They don't greet you, no one asks if you need help, they will just stare at you and then you have to speak to them before they speak to you. read more

I stopped in while waiting in the everlasting line for Christmas at the jasper and grabbed a hot chocolate and some turtles. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy and the turtles were amazing. Been to Cary town so many times but never actually checked out Kilwins until now! They have a large selection of sweets, chocolate-related goods, fudges, and ice cream. Their hot chocolate also looked very bomb but didn't get a chance to try this time. I was craving some ice cream so I got the Kilwins Turtle, which was a limited edition flavor. The chocolate ice cream base unfortunately did not stand out and was similar to that of in typical Rockyroad flavors. Nevertheless, I very much enjoyed the caramel fudge and the generous amounts of chunky walnuts. The caramel fudge seemed a little lighter than your typical caramel but still retained that sweetness and buttery taste. Their waffle cones were pretty standard in terms of taste, but I did appreciate how nicely it's folded so that ice cream doesn't drip out of the cone at the bottom. The music was kind of loud so it was hard for the staff to hear me but they were nice. I can definitely see myself coming back to try out some of their other sweets! read more

I decided to venture around Cary Town during my lunch break one day and was told about this location. I was able to find the spot next to "The Bar" and was immediately greeted with a delicious fragrance of fudge/chocolate. You can actually try a sample of their fudge before purchasing, which I totally took advantage of. I liked the mint, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. They have a lot of beautiful options to choose from and I def. ordered several! haha. I got some of their chocolate covered pretzels (I got their white chocolate, milk chocolate, AND dark chocolate). All were amazing. My favorite are the chocolate bars that you can get with different options. (Such as rice crispies, almonds, plain jane). The best part about these bars were that they literally melted right away in your mouth and probably just as delicious and amazing as the chocolate in Germany. Recently went to Kilwin's and it's a chocolate lover's dream! I love everything about this place. The drinks, the chocolate, the ice cream! I had my 2 year old with me and we ordered a lemonade and their seasonal apple pie ice cream which has chunks of apple pie mixed with vanilla ice cream. YUMMMM! Both were really good. I am partial to their lemonades. I LOVE that they have an orange lemonade option! This is the perfect place to pop in and get a treat. I didn't know that kill wins was in Richmond at all until visiting a neighboring business the night before period I have to have one of those caramel apples any time that I see 1 so of course I went inside. At there were a few apples in the case but none of the varieties that I desired. I ended up purchasing some candies instead and was given a little bonus from the cashier due to the issues with the apples being prepared later in the day. We left a big tip headed out. These guys have the best hot chocolate! It can be pricey, about $4.50 for a small cup, but trust me, it's delicious. I also swear by their "chocolate bark" for making your own hot chocolate, as well as their jumbo-sized marshmallows. The first time my husband and I were in Kilwins, we bought some fudge; two flavors. It was good, if a little dry on the outside. This past Saturday, March 23, we went in again. I asked if they had any chocolate candy with hazelnut. The woman at the counter said yes and pointed to one she said was a hazelnut truffle. It was awful! No detectable hazelnut flavor and no moussy truffle consistency. I spit it out and told her it was terrible and had no hazelnut. I went to throw out the tissue with the candy I had spit out and saw the counter help exchanging glances with expressions of derision. I said they could at least have offered me a refund or try another chocolate, but instead they went on about how no one else had ever complained. Needless to say, I shall never patronize Kilwin's again and certainly will not recommend it, if only for the deplorable customer service. if they had offered a refund - with grace - I would not have taken a cash refund but used it toward a piece of fudge - with grace! And I no doubt would return for fudge the next time we went to Cary Street. read more

I have been to Kilwins twice thus far and found the ice cream to be the best in Carytown! Kilwins offers lots of unusual flavors such as blueberry waffle cone, chocolate coconut, and banana fudge pie. I have tried both these flavors and they were excellent. Customer service is very good and they will let you sample the flavors. The store is very clean and bright. There is indoor seating as well. I am happy to now have a great go to ice cream/candy store in Carytown. read more
