    Marathon day

I love places like this - local, creative, low key and friendly. On a long walk with the pup and craving something sweet. It was by chance we were near the place and decided to try it out. There is a huge menu of all kinds of creative waffle with fixings. There is sweet, savory and sweet savory! I chose the latter with a captain berry waffle. It has captain crunch, blueberries, chocolate sauce and bacon bits. I like the mixture of savory and sweet, though I didn't get any flavor out of the powdered form captain crunch. The inside is, just like any old building, tight and busy. So I enjoyed sitting outside with the pup on a beautiful sunny day.

Great location . Really good coffees . Went to Richmond downtown and was looking for a good coffee spot and wanted breakfast .. found this shop. From outside it didn't look like a breakfast restaurant but the indoor was really good . Lots of seats inside and outside to sit and eat . Asked for a latte with extra shot and it was really good . They obviously had tons of waffles but I'm not a big waffle guy :( I like bagels and other breakfast varieties but they didn't have it. Wish my kids came for waffles here , since there were tons of varieties and not that expensive ... parking was tough. Had to park few blocks away (paid parking) to come to this place . Nice experience overalll.

I loved this meal so much. The waffles are fluffy and light. The half moon is the perfect amount for breakfast. I got the chicken and waffle with egg and chorizo. I already want another one. My friend got a gluten free waffle and was very pleased as well. It's a small shop so keep in mind you wanna be in and out semi quickly. I did not get to try their lattes this time but they all sounded delicious. Everyone working was welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this business to others.

As an avid waffle lover I can confidently say these waffles are incredible. Whatever settings their waffle irons are on is perfect. Super fun menu and lots of options for savory or sweet waffle toppings. Great place for a casual brunch or breakfast.

This place was great! I'd give 5 stars but we had to wait quite a while for food ( more than 30min - but, we couldn't be upset because it was crazy busy)! The staff were friendly and accommodating. Standing room only inside (but we were able to eat outside), and the waffle dishes were die for. My kids proclaimed them the best waffles ever (x2 make your own with whipped cream, sprinkles and assorted kid toppings); my husband got the half meats and I got the half veggie. I practically inhaled mine! Definitely a must eat if you're in Richmond.

This restaurant is so cute. The drinks, the cake, and the vibe are outstanding. The cashier was super nice and helpful in recommendations. First time trying and will definitely try again.

We are always on the hunt for good Waffles and Capitol Waffle did not disappoint It was a hard week for us with the loss of a precious family member, rushed travel from Florida and the emotional drag of grief So for those who don't know I am Vegan so rushed travel means no time to research and no time prepare food for travel. so I went without a real meal for 3 days and having a tossed salad is not a real meal yet for 3 days that was all I had. One meal per day and it was a tossed salad So finding Vegan waffles for breakfast was such a treat! I had multiple choices and my husband who wanted chicken and waffles could order that as well. The hours are perfect for breakfast and the coffee was excellent The service was very good, the young lady at the front explained the options and the service was quick and perfect for the morning

Fun, unique and eclectic. Vast array of both savory and sweet waffles. A must try, especially for kids or those that want to revisit their waffle childhood!

After driving up from Hampton, protesting for over an hour, I located this place via Yelp app. They had a gluten free option which was fantastic!

People who love to eat are always the best people. ~Julia Child #yelpreview #richmondva #sanvalentin Happy Valentine's Day-- this past weekend, I spent it in my dad's hometown of Richmond, Virginia. My final morning, my friends and I decided to brunch at the @capitolwaffleshop. What an excellent choice!! It's an intimate breakfast spot that specializes in waffles sweet and savory, coffees and mimosas plus other brunch related items. You arrive and can order either at the counter or with the QVR Code. I use the code because it looked much easier and faster, especially with a line at the counter. Torn -- I was torn between ordering a sweet waffle with fruit, ice cream and whip cream or a savory waffle topped with eggs, sausage and vegetables. I decided to be adult about my selection and order the savory waffle with a pineapple mimosa to keep it company. The prices were reasonable, the waffles were freshly made and the service was cheerful and friendly. I'm glad my friend happened upon this place and we made a plan to eat here, it was an awesome brunch and very satisfying experience. If you are visiting Richmond, I recommend you stop and enjoy this delicious brunch spot. Travel often, eat and live deliciously.

We had the piggy and berries waffle and WOW. IT WAS AWESOME! Highly recommend this place.

was a bit of a wait when we first arrived . We ordered up front and sat at bar . Got a mimosa kit and got pretty hot. food was a bit of a wait but in all It was worth it ! Mimosa was amazing but what alcohol isn't . staffs were friendly and helpful . I got a black eye at the bar ! A coffee , no worries , I wasn't punched it was amazing . now I feel like I can pretty much conquer Richmond . Give their food a shot , you won't be mad . peace

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Supper! has earned its reputation as a longtime Richmond favorite. Great food, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy five-star recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

It is fast casual - you order at the kiosk and grab a place to eat, listening for your number and/or text to alert you the food is ready. We arrived about 6pm on a Saturday night. It was busy and I grabbed one of the last two tables. It got very busy shortly after we placed our orders. The dining area is pretty big with plenty of bar seating around the windows. While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. Two friends enjoyed the collards. The only person who was underwhelmed was the person who got the Asian sandwich. We walked in to find the staff bustling, cooking, and prepping orders, and the smell of some delicious fried chicken in the air. I saw the kiosks and was not too thrilled with the Wawa experience, but we gave it a shot anyway, since fried chicken is one of our favorites. The process was simple and allowed us to add or remove anything we could want, so that was nice. While walking to find a seat, we saw a person panhandling in the dining area, but the staff promptly removed him from the premises. I ordered us the Pimento Cheese Balls for an appetizer, and I chose the Fried Chicken and French Toast as my entree because I always try the "chicken and waffles" at every establishment that offers it. My partner ordered the OG Chicken Sandwich without tomato, and it came with crinkle-cut fries. It was about $40. The chef proclaimed our order was ready in quick succession, maybe three orders behind the guests before us. We waited about ten minutes, maybe fifteen at most. We picked up the orders from the counter, and there was a mix-up on the syrup, but the chef promptly rectified the situation. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy; straight to the point. He seemed firm, yet kind. It was clear the day had been a busy one; he even told us as much, which was great to hear (busy = fantastic food). The French toast squares looked like rye or pumpernickel, and they emitted a sweet aroma, a delightful hit of cinnamon and brown sugar. I drizzled the caramel syrup on my chicken and toast, sliced a piece, and paired a bite of chicken with the toast. I closed my eyes to savor the flavors: the toast was crunchy and almost gooey (yet, not overly so), the chicken was crunchy, the sweet cinnamon-y flavors from the toast, the caramel from the syrup, and the tender, moist chicken were a match made in culinary art. I cannot sufficiently describe the French toast in a way that would do it justice; it was crunchy and semi-gooey, and all scrumptious. I can only say it was the single best French toast that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Next, I tried the fried pimento cheese balls. Oh my. If you like mozzarella sticks, try these. I adored them: elevated fried cheese, for real. My partner enjoyed her sandwich as well; she ate everything except some of her fries. I saved half of my chicken and toast for today because I am like a treasure golem when it comes to delicious leftovers. I am going to air-fry the chicken and skillet-heat the toast back to its original goodness. I told the cooks that that was the best French toast that I have ever had, and I mean it. Do yourself a favor and try it if you're into French toast. This one is the GOAT. Side note: I spoke with the head chef outside, and he is from another branch (possibly Henrico?) to whip this location back into shape. Two words: "Nailed it."
