OH MY GOODNESS, where has this ice cream and fudge been all my life?! I think it's an East Coast company, but California needs one of these ASAP. I stopped in late Wednesday night and sampled some of their fudge. It was absolutely amazing. Heavenly Slice Fudge truly lived up to its name. I also tried a sample of their Caramel Sea Salt ice cream, and it was a 10/10. Ultimately, I chose not to buy anything that night since I hadn't eaten dinner yet, but I knew for sure I was coming back the next day. On Thursday night, I brought all my coworkers with me since we were in town for a work trip. BLUF: Good ice cream in St. Armands circle and even better when it's not crowded. Yes, I like Kilwins ice cream and I love it when I don't have to find a parking spot or wait in line. This Kilwins is located in St. Armand's Circle. Given that, parking can be tricky and lines can be long. Conveniently, this Kilwins was in walking distance to my hotel on a recent stay in Lido Key so I was sure to stop by for a scoop. Also, I am glad to see Kilwins was able to renovate and recover after back-to-back Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton hit the area. I wouldn't drive to St. Armands Circle and fight parking just for Kilwins but if in the area and craving a sweet treat, Kilwins has visitors covered with ice cream, fudge and candy. read more

So, this time, I though readers would like to learn of our experience with two non-traditional items for us: chocolates and peanut brittle. Bottom line is - both were excellent! We wanted to bring home treats for those who could not join us for ice cream. Chocolates and peanut brittle were practical and appreciated choices. The appended photos convey more information than these words would - so please see them. Notes: 1 ) There is no indoor seating. So, plan to sit outside on benches or stroll the circle with ice cream. 2) Afternoon street parking was surprisingly available. Perhaps a weekday afternoon in summer is not prime time. 3) Free samples - The staff will gladly offer a free sample of ice cream. They have the BEST fudge, fresh chocolate, ice cream, etc., etc., etc. You can never go wrong with anything you get here! My absolute favorite is the peanut butter cups. This location doesn't have the larger ones, so I got the smaller ones -- one dark chocolate and one milk chocolate. I already ate the milk one. While vacationing in Sarasota in the St Arnauds district, we were fortunate to locate a Kilwin's! They seem to always be located in touristy areas where parking is hard to find. That's not their fault that they are so popular! Just letting you know. We are diehard fans of Kilwin's so it's worth the hassle. My favorite of theirs is their fudge! Unbelievably delicious. Smooth. Silky. Melts in your mouth. Many different flavors. Smells like real chocolate. If you buy two slices, the third slice is complimentary. This shop is beautifully decorated and clean. They have a variety of sweet delicious desserts. Their ice cream is also out of this world. Little kids love this place. They also give out free samples. Parking is on the street and hard to find. I've been coming to Kilwin's with my family for years! It's one of my favorite places to get ice cream! I'm giving it one star because the service has really gone down hill. You no longer see the flavors on the large board behind the counter and the only way to see them is by looking at a small printout once you get up to the ice cream counter. The staff immediately want to know what you want and if you don't know it seems like they have an attitude or are annoyed by it. Tonight, one of the staff members was very unfriendly to me and my family. We had 8 people in the group and only wanted to try 2 samples before ordering. She was clearly annoyed by our request to try a sample. This is just not the friendly welcoming place that I remembered from years before. I come here every time I'm in Sarasota. It's super packed all the time with a line out the door. The mouthwatering aroma outside of their shop makes it so irresistible where you have to go inside. Its a little overwhelming when you're inside. The line is formed where you can't really look at the ice cream before ordering. By the time you're at the beginning of the ice cream section, the workers ask for your order. They have the ice cream menu posted throughout the shop. I try a new flavor every time I visit. Today, I ordered their New Orleans Praline Pecan. Super creamy!! I love my ice cream and I don't think I could ever live without it. read more

I stopped going to Kilwins years ago Why ? not because of the quality of the product or the service. Rather because they weigh every serving ! Their stated reason is to ensure the customer gets the full serving they are paying for ! I've watched servers actually shave off a tiny amount if the cone was " overweight. Obviously the reason is to ensure Kilwins gets every last ounce out of the container for inventory control. Maybe I am old school but I find it insulting . This is not medicine they are serving. It's ice cream.! At the end of the day how much more or how much less could occur out of the large container from " free scooping " by the server. It is bad optics .Lessens the experience . Much prefer the old school ice cream shops where they simply scooped your ice cream and so what if you got 1/16th of an ounce less or more. no one knew or cared i'm sure it evened out in the end . First off I am fully vaccinated, we are in Florida were there is no mask mandate, CDC has removed the mandate across the US. I explained this to the young lady and she told me to leave that the store policy is to serve no one without a mask. So, we left. We had been shopping all day and respectfully when a store had the "mask requirement" sign on the door we didn't enter. I was so excited to go to Kilwins for a Salted Carmel on a waffle cone. I actually said "I can't wait to go to the happiest place on earth" as I walked in. I ordered my cone, and the server gave me a the tiniest ball of cream in a large waffle cone. The server measured it. Not sure why - if it was over were they going take ice cream away or if it was under were they going to add more? I just wanted a nice ice cream cone. It was more like a cone with some ice cream. It totally ruined the experience. I really don't care if you want your charge more for a cone but just give me a nice ice cream cone. Very disappointed. There are fresh made chocolates, fudge, candied apples, chocolate covered pretzels and ice cream. The best part is that they have many choices and flavors of all of these items. My favorite is the milk chocolate almond bark. I had pistachio ice cream in a freshly made waffle cone. My wife had chocolate peanut butter in the same cone. You can watch a staff member making the cones in the front window. Both flavors were excellent. They have a small area with tables to sit and have your treats. I missed this location I hadn't been to Armand Circle in a number of years. I believe the last time I patron a Kilwin ice cream store was m at Ellenton factory outlets and it's no longer there. Of course, we headed directly to the fudge counter and indulged in the free samples. Then were silent $20 on fudge (but 2 slices get 1 free). Or daughter ended up getting a rock candy lollipop. So what fudge did are get you may ask...heavenly hash, chocolate pecan, and turtle. They all taste slightly different, but are so good. Heavenly hash has some marshmallow and pecans in the fudge and was my favorite. Would I share? It's so good I might actually say no n.v if you aren't family...lol. Even then it's hard to share! One of the VERY best hand made fudge I have had ANYWHERE ( nationally, California included), and I am passionate about TRUE chocolate and penuche - - also called maple walnut! I am a very very serious connoisseur of chocolates and walnut flavoring. The fudge must have the right amount of sweet excellent quality butter, must have the right sturdy texture, should not feel elastic nor gooey, and most of all must NOT be overly sweet!!! All very very hard to do. But Kilwins succeeded perfectly! I have come here for almost 25 years -- in-laws were snow birds since the 70's and then later moved here full time so we ALWAYS came to St Armands, back then it was MAGNIFICENT! Wonderful truly beautiful creative stores!!! Miss them. We brought my young daughters here religiously for the fudge and COOLING ice cream ( I honed in always to the fudge!). I gave the 2 stars for the lovely smell upon entering. Otherwise it would have been zero. The ice cream servers were rather rude, almost hostile. I don't think I saw a smile during the entire visit. I went here with my family and a creepy, baldish man working in the fudge kitchen was making my daughter uncomfortable with how he was staring at her after we came off the beach and went in for ice cream.
