The smells are wonderful especially when they are making their waffle cones. Lots of delicious looking candies, free tastes on fudge and ice cream and they are yummy. Had pistachio which was good and hubby had chocolate peanut butter which he thought was good too. Also bought some chocolate treats for the granddaughter for Easter. read more

Tonight I tried this place after many people had recommended it to me. I sampled the blueberry waffle cone flavor, the maple walnut, and the sea salted caramel ice cream. All were very good and made my selection a difficult one. It's the kind of place I would go back to again and again and probably never get the same thing twice. I went with the the sea salted caramel on a waffle cone which was very good. In addition to the ice cream they have homemade candy and fudge and specialty coffees. Normally, everything is great here. Because both coffee shops I usually go to were closed, I asked for a cappuccino here tonight. I should have checked it before I left the store: it was a cup of steamed milk with a teaspoon of coffee. $4. I won't be coming back here. read more

I really, really want to like this place. The building is so cute and the setting is amazing. Service is great. There are so many good ice cream flavors. So what's the prob? The ice cream is melted--has the consistency of a milkshake. Every time. Pretty pricey for a cone of flavored Cool Whip. I went back hopefully a few times, but have given up. One of the employees told us that the current owner didn't want to spring for a new freezer system when he purchased the business. He should reconsider. read more

Got a lemon sorbetto and traverse city cherry bowl. Lemon was pretty good, decent for normal standards, but I love lemon and think it could have been a touch more lemony. Cherry was good because it had big chunks of cherries, which I appreciate. Also got a little caramel chunk, and it was too light - very little caramel flavor. Tasted more like karo and butter, so that was a waste of a dollar. Learned after getting 2 scoops that they'll do a 'split scoop' which is half a scoop of each flavor at no extra charge, so that got them the 4th star, otherwise this would easily be a 3 star review. Overall, cute place, good service, nice people. Prices were a little high for not being anything super special. Mostly just a different version of a Russell Stovers. read more

Kilwin's,needs to review customer service. If someone is crazy enough to be willing to pay $64 for one of their cakes, they should be willing to take the time to write Happy Birthday on the cake and not tell the customer they have to wait a half hour. What? Wait? I'm spending $80 here on cake and candy and you can't take 2 minutes to write on the cake for me? We went to Dierbergs got a much more reasonable cake, they happily took the 2 minutes to write Happy Birthday on it and it was delicious. Kilwins you lost a large sale and a customer. You should have saved the sale and the customer. Shame on you for not realizing customer service first. Thanks Dierbergs. read more

What an awesome place for adults and kids alike! Our first visit to this wonderful candy and treat store and certainly will not be our last. We went fairly late on a Friday night but as soon as we entered we were greeted kindly by the owner who promptly started telling my wife and my daughter and I about what they make fresh and are famous for. He then started proving his worth by offering samples of those specialties. Let me tell you that he was not bluffing. The pecan brittle was the best brittle I've ever had and the fresh caramel was unbelievable as well. After trying the samples we also tried their homemade ice cream. It was certainly the best in the area. Great products, wonderful staff, and great place to take the family! We will certainly be back! read more

As an ice cream snob and connoisseur, I'd have to say that you have come to the right place. Lines out the door sometimes on a good day but worth the wait as you peruse the racks of homemade brittle and other delights, or watch them make and dip the cones. I took my grandson for ice cream this afternoon and discovered tbat it is quite expensive for mediocre ice cream. The chocolate and candy look very good but I did buy any. I probably would have been convinced to if we were offered a sample. The girls behind the counter were somewhat friendly but they said they were not giving out fudge samples today, even though there is a sign on the door stating that there were always samples. My grandson wanted water and they gave him a cup of water from the hand washing sink. Another girl was making fudge and my grandson wanted to stop and watch. The girl making fudge looked at us with disgust, did not smile or speak to us. My grandson asked a question and she completely ignored us. I guess everyone has bad days but why take it out on a child? Not dying to go back. read more

The design of the antique malt shop, and the welcoming smells of the handmade fudges, fills the air . They have a LARGE variety of "specialty" ice creams, but wait thats not all, the caramels (sea salt) chocolates (milk & dark), taffy's, fudges, GIGANTIC COOKIES, and more (waaaay too many to name)!!! The staff are very helpful, and almost "psychic" in knowing what you'd like, (sooooooo many flavors of ice cream). Stumbled upon this place during my first trip to St. Charles. I came here with a bachelorette party group, and we were super excited to explore Main Street! Even though there are several ice cream and dessert places on Main Street, we decided to stop at this one because of the ah-mazing smell of fresh waffle cones! It did NOT disappoint. I ordered a small milkshake and at the checkout found to my unpleasant surprise that the cost was $9.70! That is a ridiculous charge for a small milkshake. It goes without saying that being charged two to three times what a small size should cost did not make for a very enjoyable experience. These prices should be very clearly displayed to avoid nasty surprises. read more
