People told us waking in that the breakfast was amazing. Told us to order anything for breakfast. We didn't listen and got a Reuben Sandwich which was amazing and the Chicken Salad Cranberry sandwich which was also very good. The homemade potato chips were the most amazing potato chips you could consume maybe ever. The decorations are also fantastic honoring America and Veterans. A very off beat Resturant in an industrial mall, but a tribute to all our past and present veterans. That said, good seating and plenty to take in. Food was great, well presented, and delicious. Service by our server, attentive and very friendly. Totally recommend breakfast here. This was not the "homey place downtown" that we expected. It's located on an industrial park-like location and is quite a modern building. But it's welcoming and socially warm inside! Very nice environment and the walls are adorned with hundreds is portraits of service men from all branches of armed forces including fire and police officers. It's amazing! The menu is very expansive, almost dizzying in its expansiveness and it includes a huge number of vegetarian options. We were surprised because we're vegetarian and don't often find places with this kind of variety. I got the veggie skillet and my wife got the potato pancakes, which were spectacular! read more

Admittedly, I'm in a physical rehabilitation facility nearby and I count on DoorDash to bring my meals from local establishments! I try to steer away from chains and order from local owned eateries but I'm consistently disappointed in the food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a cup of soup. I can tell you the sandwich was good but bland, and I couldn't eat the hash browns because they forgot to pack any utensils or condiments even though I had checked the order form. I drank my soup broth, which was a creamy chicken with chunks of veggies and that was really good. If only I had a spoon and some salt and pepper, but...I can't give a complete review because without utensils I'm lost. read more

This place is amazing. We stopped on our way up to Lake Geneva. We will definitely be back for the food alone, but the service was awesome. My toddler was throwing a hangry tantrum until she got her pancakes. Our server was patient and kind the whole time, and got her food out quickly. The food is outstanding from sandwiches, salads, breakfast, soups and much more. All made with love and quickly made to order. Being vegetarian they have a number of good options and will modify menu items to your liking. We went earlier today on a busy Saturday morning and everything on the menu sounded great, so it was hard to choose- the 7 adults of us had different breakfasts and they were all delicious! My sister and I just found out about this cafe yesterday. We had breakfast. The place was clean and quiet with tables not crammed in everywhere. We were given coffee and menus right away and then we put our order in. We didn't have to wait long for our food. It came quickly and it was delicious and the portions were generous. The food is fairly bland, and the coffee is not very good. Service was a bit slow, but there were a lot of people there. As a veteran, I was insulted by the extraordinarily tacky and excessive display of military flags, pictures, etc. It isn't honoring our military, it's pandering in an extremely disrespectful manner. So I've been to most of the 30 or so breakfast cafes/diners in Mchenry county. This is my favorite of 'em all! It's kind of in an odd location, off the main roads in a small strip mall on a pond. i posted a pic from where I sat and ate. Inside its very modern and clean with those cool 15 foot high industrial type ceilings. The menu has all the standards, some nice formal things like steaks and a bennedicts section plus about about 10 weekly specials. Everything appears to be homemade and high quality, prices very reasonable...so this is what I got for $10...the country skillet. So they take this large skillet, fill the bottom with hash browns, then cover that with a generous portion of yummy pieces of ham, sausage, and bacon. then a scoop of country gravy. then covered with melted shredded cheeses, then topped with 3 eggs any style...obviously the way to order the eggs is sunny or over easy so the yolk runs into all the hearty goodness down below! I almost forgot, served with pancakes too. sooo good, couldn't finish it all. anyway, this place is full of awesomeness, and you must try the country skillet. I have spoken! read more
