We arrived at 6:35 waited 5 minutes for someone to come out from the back. I finally went to the door of the kitchen, which was open and found a young lady to help us. She said they don't open until 7. The sign in the door said 6:30 and the door was unlocked. She very graciously seated us. 2 minutes later a gentleman walked in who was obviously a regular customer then another at 6:55. So they obviously open before 7. Visited for the first time this late morning! Hosts were super friendly, we were seated right away. Our server Kamryn approached immediately and took our drink order. She was sweet and friendly! Kamryn was back immediately with the drinks and my cappuccino was perfect. Kamryn was knowledgeable on all of our questions on the menu, since this is our first visit. Food came up so quickly, we were blown away by that. Our meals were delicious. I had the South Beach scramble with diced potatoes and pancakes. So delicious! The portion sizes are HUGE. Sunday brunch at Brunch Cafe has become a weekly tradition. BC has the local breakfast eatery feel with the brunch entrees you really want. There's booths and tables. It's all very clean, but I wouldn't really call the ambiance memorable. The focus is definitely on the food. My go-to is the salmon toast (I add cucumber to it and highly recommend) with either the side salad or the hash browns. The smoked salmon on an open faced sammy is the perfect start to the day. Occasionally I venture over to ordering berry filled crepes or French toast. Everything is delicious and pretty hardy. They usually have some kind of special items too. I have my fingers crossed for candied bacon at some point. Drink wise, you can get your usuals as well as black coffee. Cappuccinos and lattes would be a great addition to the menu, but the current options work for brunch. I've done the mimosa flight once and it was pretty good. The drinks for the flight are a little smaller than ordering a regular mimosa, but it was still enough that I was content. If I'm ordering a mimosa, I tend to alternate between the pineapple and the strawberry. Everyone there is always quick and friendly, but it is always busy so keep that in mind and give a little grace. The wait staff is great about checking on you throughout the meal, but they really can't stop unless you need something so it's always a quick checkin. We came in for brunch on a weekend, and although the restaurant was packed, we didn't have to wait for too long for a table. The inside has a lot of cute decor brunch/egg related, and the restaurant is just one big rectangular open space. Parking was a bit hard to find as it shares a parking lot with other businesses. We didn't reserve in advance but came in around 10am on a Saturday and were seated in about 15 minutes. The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly which was impressive with how busy they were. The portions are large, and we appreciated the quality and taste of the food. Almost every group had at least one bag of food left overs after eating. Brunch for 3 people including drinks, entrees and dessert came out to about $80. read more

I have been here numerous times. It is always bustling with energy and patrons. They have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu as well as a few specialty coffee drinks. They always have unique specials. I am an omelette person so fairly regimented on my order, but I have tried their specialty pancakes and specialty French toast. I highly recommend the carrot cake pancakes. Probably my favorite item on the menu. I have also tried their bennys. They are ok, not amazing. I have not tried any lunch items, I'm a breakfast girl. I have been here a few times and I wish I could afford to go every day. They're always busy, staff is on the ball, and it's a great menu. I first got a steak dish, it was a total treat and I am fairly sure it took me forever to finish it. Guys sat down next to me and ordered the same thing based on how it looked and I just plowed through it. The portion sizes here are wonderful. Second visit, I got a more traditional breakfast and it was decidedly perfect. One of the ladies from the local church took me for a nice visit and I got to hear some of her story. Kindest lady ever. She took leftovers, I think I didn't have anything left. I'm not fond of eating and talking but hey, I can behave myself once in a while! And I know I went in there just for a plate of crispy hash browns with onions in it, probably got a coffee. It hit the spot. Come get fed! Food is consistently great. Service is great. I will always come back for brunch. However, this last visit was on a Sunday at 1015. It was 2 of us. When we walked in, the manager, Brooke, told us it "won't be too long" as we put our name on the waitlist. We stepped into the doorway and heard another lady say she was told the same thing. Then another group of people were told the same thing, it "won't be too long." Brooke called our other groups and sat them appropriately but since it was extremely crowded we couldn't hear so we opened the door. She came over to us and said she needed to close it because a table was complaining about the draft. We said we couldn't hear and Brooke said she would come find us or text us, but she had not taken a phone number or anyone else's phone number when we came in. After about 20 minutes we were able to move in and find a seat to wait. As we watched others come in, we kept hearing it "won't be too long" being told to each group. We even heard Brooke say "don't tell them 40 minutes because they will leave." Other groups were complaining about not being given a specific wait time. We were finally called at 30 minutes. I spoke with both the hostess and Brooke that a specific wait time would be much more appreciated than hearing "it won't be too long" when it's clearly a 30-45 minute wait. Brooke said she was "sorry I felt that way". As someone who works in the restaurant industry and manages one, I feel like not giving out specific wait times is not good for business. Telling the hostess to not say it's 40 minutes because you're afraid people will leave, is not good for business. The phrase "it won't be too long" for a 30-45 minute wait is not what people want to hear. If people choose to leave, that's ok. But most people are going to stay if they know the food is good, the service is good and they know a specific wait time. Clearly, the manager, Brooke, is training her hostesses this phrase and was overwhelmed by how busy it was. By not giving a wait time, Brooke had the whole wait area full of customers trying to guess how long they'd wait and whether or not they should stay. It was so overfilled that I'm pretty sure it was against fire code to have that many people blocking an exit. Again, we love Brunch Cafe and the food and service, but next time make sure to specify how long of a wait it is. read more

Normally our go- to is Southern Belles in Barrington because they have amazing skillets but we decided to try something different. We were a bit disappointed in the variety of skillets and the ingredients in them that they offered, but that's just because southern Belles skillets are unmatched. We ordered the meat and potato skillet which comes with ham, bacon, sausage, and cheddar cheese. The skillet was over salted but overall it was a decent skillet. It was a bit of a small portion. It comes with a side of pancakes or toast which you can upgrade to any specialty pancakes, French toast, or crepe. The patty melt was just average. Nothing special. A bit dry, and my boyfriend didn't like how it came on sourdough bread. The stuffed waffle was my favorite item. The waffle was so crispy and the filling was nice and sweet. There were bananas and strawberries inside and it was topped with whipped cream. It is a bit sweet, but if that's what you're craving then it's perfect for you! We also got a side of the cinnamon roll French toast which I expected to be crispy but it was soft and almost soggy. The flavor was good though, especially with the cream cheese icing. Overall, the service was good and food was pretty good. They have a lot of good options, but if you're looking for a good skillet I would say this place isn't it. read more
