As someone who tries to stay in shape, I have been so procrastinating on providing TLC for my body. I was so overdue for a deep tissue massage. I am so glad I found Kim through Yelp! I've been hesitant for a while due to her pricing, but I thought why not treat myself during my birthday week? I booked a 1.5 hours session with Kim and initially regretted it but then loved it at the end. Kim is the real deal when it comes to getting your knots out! It was almost 80% of the time not relaxing until the knot was pushed out hahaha. I couldn't believe all the knots she found in my calves, my traps, my upper back... it truly felt like the weight off my shoulders were relieved by the end of the session. I'm thinking of going back to Kim on a quarterly basis but taking into her recommendation of foam rolling more. We only have this one body so might as well treat it right! To enter Kim's practice you'll have to enter the Hair Salon and walk to the back room. I had the opportunity to see Lim On a Wednesday morning. First time Here . Had made an appointment the month before. Note to park in the parking lot , unless you want to feed the meter. Given some release forms to sign, was instructed to dis robe and go under the sheets. To my surprise the massage table was heated. Kim came in and gave me the best massage I have ever had. Kim Pon is remarkable! Why did I not go to her sooner? If I could extend to 11 stars, I would. My experience was nothing short of excellent as a first-timer, and I really needed some serious deep tissue release for my hips & back. I was extremely lucky to find an appointment for the next day. She is always booked out weeks -- sometimes a month -- in advance. Time is a commodity. So is your body. For us heavy-lifters that need work NOW, luck was on my side. Here are my 2-cents: Upon entry, she listened to my concerns (emotional stress held in certain places, back impingement, hip/psoas tightness) and took notes about my physical well-being (sleep, hydration, stretch/exercise regimens). She lets me get ready, and to be honest, I was sweating under the covers before starting (profusely sweating at the end). Kim made it feel like a safe space where I could sweat, tremor, scream, & be myself. The thing about her work is that she understands referred pain and works on complete complexes, not just the area of discomfort. She finds the spots, and though it feels like torture for me, she helped me breathe through it (warning of the inevitable). Then double-backing over, working on the opposite side, and ensuring the bad juju leaves my body. This includes the gunk from injuries/scarred tissue, knots from emotional stress, muscle tension from overuse, and making sure the inactivated butt-cheek gets fired. Wrapped it up with a menthol topical and water. There were moments I felt she was communicating with my body. Every minute was worth it. And no, it wasn't relaxing. I truly needed work done, and felt lots of emotional release in the process. Kim was such a hype-woman. Cherry on top: speaking with her was such a delight. I'd give my money to Kim any day. I've had over 100 massages and have seen many massage therapists and Kim is definitely the BEST out of every single therapist I've seen. I just returned from a 10 day trip from Walt Disney World and was constantly carrying my 2 year old. When I returned from the trip, I had major back aches. My first ever professional massage. Luckily, I live up the road & was fortunate to find Kim. After reading every single one of her reviews, I booked an appointment right away. I really appreciated her telling me how to take care of myself after the massage & making me laugh during the more "tougher" moments; I was laughing & semi-screaming at the same time. Visited here a few times and love it! Kim is simply amazing at what she does. I tried her deep tissue massage and her Swedish massage - both are fantastic. I told her areas I need work at and she totally gets it - I had a terrible shoulder, back and neck ache and after 3 deep tissue massage visit I can see the difference, my back pain is gone and I can move my neck and shoulder at ease again. Another plus is the place is clean and neat - I am a rather clean freak so I brought my own massage oil, sheet and face cover and she accommodates my every request =) She also have a great deal of promotions lined up through yelp or her website - I often got 35% discount on my massage visit because I use the YELP check in promo. This is just great! Lots of other massage place out there charge way too much for the quality they could offer. Besides she always reminds me of using promo even if I forgot, how generous of her. Last but not least, I happen to pay her cash on one visit and it's suppose to be 35% off and both of us happen to get on the wrong track on our MATH so after I got home I realized it's $10.00 short on change,... I had an hour and a half deep tissue massage yesterday with Kim and it was probably the best thing I did for myself in a long time. For a while now I've been going to the reflexology places to save some money but I tell you, going to a real massage therapist makes it all the difference and all worth the money! Kim is very knowledgeable and definitely knows her stuff. You can tell how passionate she is about her work because she really gets in there and takes the time to work those knots out! Like really work those knots out!!! I've been going through a lot of stress for the past couple weeks and this was much needed. I didn't realize how much of my emotional stress and even physcial stress I put on my body can contribute to everything that Kim massaged out. The massage session is not just any massage session, she really walks you through and asks you questions about your daily activities, your illnesses, etc.. I rarely review but this is the FIRST 5-stars I am giving; yes, that's a big deal. I have sporadically gotten massages since 2008, I've been through at least 10 therapists from different places. Why is Kim the best (for relief of chronic pains and aches--least that's why I get massages 90% of the time), hands down? 1. She's intuitive; she knew which spots to get and she knew what kind of pains I've been having without my telling her. She can tell while working on me. 2. She's knowledgeable and informative. She educated me about why my body was the way it was but not in a lecture type of fashion; it was a good balance between our conversations and serene silence that I needed to not tap out (I'll explain later). She told me the important stuff; why a muscle was so tensed up and what I need to do to prevent knotting up again. 3. She's personable and genuinely tries to put your best interest in mind. I didn't feel like I was a customer, more like a guest at her home. My scheduling for our first appointment was complicated because of my work schedule but she was pleasant to work with through and through. Most importantly, I walked out of there with the relief I needed. Though she warned me it may be temporary; it has been a week and I'm still feeling good! Granted, it was one of the most painful massages I have ever had. It was the type that was so painful but so good! It crossed my mind 100 times to tap out but I'm glad I decided to trust her and believe that if she thought the pressure was safe and okay, I should go with it. My chronic back pains were awful; caused a distraction on almost a daily basis. I will be back here! Even though it is a bit of a drive from my home. Best therapist yet! I don't plan on shopping around for another one for a while... unless I move out of California. But maybe even then, I'll just fly in for a session since the location is somewhat near SFO Airport. She is that good. Just try not to tap out ;) She occasionally has specials, look out for those! Otherwise, $120 for 90 minutes, $80 for 60 minutes. I've been visiting Kim for over a year, on average once a week. I've had a back injury a few years back (herniated disk at L5-S1 segment), and am in constant need of doing physical therapy and conditioning. Throughout the years I have been going through numerous massage therapists for my back pains -- specifically at Emeryville, Oakland, San Mateo, Cupertino, and Daly City -- and most of the times I come out feeling the same as going in... Kim's the only one who actually made a very noticeable and significant improvement on my issues. And she's a cool person to talk to :) A year of physical therapy and Kim's weekly massage therapy have drastically improved my health issues, and I've been able to do more impacting exercises (tennis, weight lifting, cardio, basketball) without any problem. Kim is an AMAZING massage therapist. I used to see Kim years ago and I have been looking for someone with the same amazing touch every since...but no longer, I found Kim again - YAY!!! I even recently became a basic member at Burke Williams Spa in SF and I will still always come back to Kim for a massage therapist that actually fixes those pesky knots! What makes her excellent is her sincere desire to make sure you leave that day feeling tension free. It isn't about running the clock and just going through the motions like it is in many of the posh spa resorts. I haven't come to her in years because her books are booked solid. I've been going to different massage therapists here, tried some in Korea and Japan, but none compares to Kim. I've settled now for a membership to Burke Williams, but I miss the deep tissue massages from Kim. For such a petite lady, she is strong and rolls everyone knot out of my body. Mind you, I love to feel pain during a massage and Kim can roll it from the middle of my back, shoulder blades and right out through my shoulders. When the knots are released, I can feel that pain radiating down the side of my shoulders. I pay for the pain during the massage but I felt so good days after. Just checked her calendar and nothing. Kim is a phenomenal massage therapist. She was able to focus her work on the areas I needed most, and I walked away from her massage feeling like progress had actually been made (versus most massages which don't really address areas of accumulated tension). Her pressure if firm, not excruciating, and she knows how to work muscles and tendons without the feeling that my ribs are being used as a cheese grater (as in many massages I've had in the past). Kim's massage space is in the back of a hair salon, which is different from having a spa-massage experience, but Kim is so wonderful and her prices are so reasonable, that it is a compromise I am willing to make. Kim is friendly and positive, and I appreciate her focus on "self-care," asking about how much water I drink, how I stretch after working out, etc. I have recommended Kim to all of my friends in the area, and I've just booked my second massage (with more to come!) I went to Kim yesterday for the first time. Oh boy, the pain is worth it!! I have been getting migraines that would cause my neck and shoulders to hurt. After taking pain killers for about a few months, I decided to try out massages. Kim was able to identify where the source of the problems were and worked out the knots/tightness. I felt so relaxed and detoxed afterward. Oh..remember to drink lots of water before and after your session...flush out the bad stuff. hehe. ANNDD..Kim is extremely knowledgeable about what she does. Kim Pon is very professional and knowledgeable about her work. She operates in a room located at the rear of Elements Salon. She offers three types of massages that I'm aware of: deep tissue, Swedish, and shiatsu. I came redeeming an offer I bought from kgbdeals (on the last day for which it was valid, no less). I requested for the shiatsu massage because it's not the style I have very often. While working on you, Kim was excellent at providing insight to body maladies that she notices and gives great advices on what to do about it. Namely, she gave excellent insight to my stiff shoulder because of something she noticed about another part of my body, something I never heard about and proved to be very good information. She also told me to get up slowly after the massage so my brain and body can get back into synchronization. This is especially useful and may explain why I am more and more often having near faint spells when I get up too fast from a crouched position (and sometimes even from a sitting position). I asked my doctor about it because it does get terrifying at times, and even the doctor was miffed about it and only asked me to pay attention to its frequency in occurrence. I have heard of many (such as coworkers) who have similar problems in terms of getting up too fast. Thank you, Kim! read more

Kim is very personable and very, very knowledgeable about alleviating muscle points around the body. I just had a recent sports injury and a day after Kim's appointment, I could amazingly walk normally! Give it a few more days and maybe I can start getting back to my running routine. I been on Yelp for years but this is the first time I've really felt strong enough about a business that I just had to write a review. Kim is THE BEST for massages! I've been going to Kim for about a year now and if you are into deep tissue massage, Kim is for you. She can do all the other "relaxation" massages but if you ask for deep tissue, its not for the faint of heart. Its intense, achy, take me to my limits good but its good nonetheless. You will be sore the next day and the day after (although she's great at helping you mitigate this by mandating that you drink a ton of water to flush out toxins and salts baths too) but your muscles will thank you. I've just realized that I'm not nearly as young as I'd like to think and my body needs time to recover from trying to be young and athletic and her bodywork definitely helps with that. She gives great advice on stretches and exercises that are targeted to your problem areas. I've had back problems for years now which recently has turned chronic possibly to all the running I've been doing. Kim gave me wonderful insight on specific muscles she found to be super tight that is pulling on my lower back and more importantly, the stretches and exercises I can do at home on my home to help alleviate that. Kim isn't just all business though, she's got such a bright, wonderful and vivacious personality that just makes you naturally gravitate to her. Been on a little massage kick lately trying out different places. Kim is a keeper!. I've been working out more lately and been getting massages to help with my sore muscles. The other places I've tried were okay but didn't quite hit the mark. With Kim she hit all the trigger points in my body. She also pointed out some issues with my alignment, worked them out, and gave me tips to help prevent them. None of the other places I went to mentioned any of this and the massage I got from her and her knowledge of the body places her a the top of my list. I've been to several CMT's this last year because of tingling and severe nerve pressure pain in my neck, shoulders and arms (most likely from computer work and daily life with my kids). Prior to seeing Kim, my experience with massage therapy was limited to chair massages at the mall. Boy, was I in for a surprise! First of all, Kim's studio is located inside elements salon. However, it is very clean, professional and relaxing once you're inside. She has a heated table so your muscles begin to relax almost immediately. Plus, she has a paper lamp in the corner that throws a soft glow in the room complimenting the warm and serene surroundings. Even for the most modest you won't feel uncomfortable naked under the sheets. Kim is sure to keep you covered up. Kim is truly a skilled healer! After just one session the results were unbelievable. I had much better range of motion and most of the pain and numbness had subsided. I had tried other CMT's as well as acupuncture but the results were worlds apart better with Kim. As mentioned in other reviews, Kim really makes a point to work out the bad knots and doesn't quit until they submit. She is amazingly dedicated and committed to relieving your pain. She uses a unique blend of acupressure and shiatsu style massage undoubtedly honed to perfection from years of experience. Be forewarned...This is not your superficial Swedish (surface) massage. Kim gets "medieval" on those knots and really digs in deep. I have to admit that It could be very uncomfortable at first making your eyes roll to the back of your head (but it hurts so good!). If you hang with Kim and not "tap out" the benefits and results are truly outstanding. Try to relax and breathe through it and remember that Kim would never hurt you. She is pro with a firm but gentle touch. I just cannot say enough good things about Kim and her practice. You never feel rushed nor neglected and the atmosphere is remarkably serene and private. I've seen a total of 5 different CMT's over the course of the year and I can confidently say that Kim Pon CMT and her skills go unmatched. In my humble opinion she is the best there is. I make it a point to see her at least once a month because her therapy has made all the difference in the quality of my life. Don't hesitate to give her a try. I had a one hour deep tissue massage with Kim yesterday, and it was the best massage of my life. Now this was deep tissue, which hurt a little, but it was well worth it. Kim helped to alleviate some major tension in my neck and shoulders. Today my shoulder is pain free and my range of motion has even improved! I also have sciatica, and she worked on my hip/buttocks, and today for the first time in about 10 years I am walking without pain! Nothing else has ever helped me like this, not chiropractic, yoga, medication, nothing! I absolutely intend to visit Kim again. Very professional, knowledgeable, and intuitive.
