So this isn't my first rodeo with Kim's Day Spa. The first time my fiancé and I went I didn't like the experience because I felt I was being treated differently because I wasn't a regular customer. As I visited more the better the treatment got. I stopped going to any salons for a while because I wanted to save so it's been a while. I am not from Baltimore I am from Chicago and it's a law is Chicago that a price list is posted. There is not a price list posted anywhere in the salon. So weekend before last my fiancé and I decided to go I got an overlay because my nails are thin and gel always peels because my nails are so flat it doesn't stay and the dipped set wasn't in my budget. We both got pedicures the regular one. He got a bottled water and I got a glass on wine. Last I was there an overlay was $25 and a pedicure was $25. When my fiancé went to pay she quoted him $90 I was lost because I just knew it should've been $75 but he paid before I could speak. So today I went and I ask for my previous overlay to be soaked off to avoid breakage instead my nail tech decided to pull the overlay off with a nail tip leaving the old crusted polish and using a drill to thin my already thin nails out. Then asked me to pay before he polished my nails and this week it was $5 more than the over priced overlay I got 2 weeks prior. I didn't get any oil on my dry hands or a hand massage like the lady next to me either. I love my nails but I'm looking for a new nail home. read more

Fellas there will be some vajay-jay talk so please be fore warned :-) My good friend and I decided to go and Brazilian bikini waxes. We were virgins :-p When we arrived, we were told to sit and wait for Kim. We were offered our choice of red or white wine (score).. They had me sold at this point. They had some girly flick playing on the televisions (another plus). It really was a very chill and cool atmosphere. Since Kim is the only one who does the Brazilians, we had to wait for her to finish with her previous client, but it wasn't very long, and again they make it very relaxing as you wait. When she was finished, we were wisked downstairs to the basement area . I won't go into all the nitty gritty details, but I'll say she was quick and efficient. Dani approved. I would rate the pain as about a 4-5 out of 10 but it was really very quick so not bad at all. Kim made it very comfortable (she's very laid back and funny). She boasted that she does all the jay jays in Baltimore. The price was very reasonable. In fact it was almost 1/2 the cost of another popular Maryland spa. I am sold and she will be the only one who I allow to maintenance my precious jay-jay going forward. Can't wait to go back! read more

Finally, a great place for a girl to get a wax! I've been living in Baltimore for almost a year now and have been searching for a good place to get a Brazilian. My search has been terrible. I've been to places in Hampden and wasted most of my day. At Kim's I was in and out (like it should be). Fast, efficient service. I walked in and was offered wine. This has never happened at any spa I've been to. The atmosphere is friendly and I can't believe the prices are so cheap. The Brazilian is $45 (a steal!). I tried to tip her $10, but she would only accept $5. I couldn't believe the quality of the service and wax were so incredible. I wasn't sitting there waiting in a room. The quality of the wax is good (My sister is a cosmetologist/stylist and this is good quality). I fully intend to follow-up here. This is the only place I go to get my nails done. Kim totally runs a tight ship and she knows how to run a business. I've always be offered complimentary wine when I go there. They do have happy hour specials where pedicures are cheaper - around $25 in the afternoon on weekdays (M-W at least). Kim is HILARIOUS. She always makes you feel welcome. I've gotten gel mani's and regular mani's/pedi's and they've always been terrific. I have Asian eyebrows and Kim gets them right. I tell all my friends to go here. It's pretty affordable as well. About $15 for a mani, $10 for a color change, $25 for a gel mani. Don't forget to bring cash for your tips. I've gone to Kim's multiple times since it's close to my house but am very disappointed in their Gel manicure. I've never gotten one before but have heard great things about them-like how they last longer than a normal manicure. I got the manicure a week before my destination wedding and by the time the wedding rolled around my nails looked like complete crap. The tech applied all coats all the way to my cuticles and a smidge past (on my skin) so when my nails started to grow the polish started to bubble around my cuticles. By day 4 the polish and such started to peel away from my nails. Overall I will only be getting regular manicures from Kim's as the Gel manicure is not work the extra cash since mine really only lasted a week and a half. Once the wedding was done I took the layers of polish and gel coats off my nails-which by the way left nails in horrible condition. And yes, I did some research on how to remove the polish, etc. I can't wait for them to grown out. read more

Went to Kims for a Deluxe Pedicure for the first time on a Thursday Late Afternoon. It was perfect! Great Location in Federal Hill, easy to reach from downtown via the Charm City Circulator. When I arrived I walked in and signed a sheet with my name and service I wanted. Was taken right away and set in the first chair going in. Tony was who did my service and got me a glass of white wine. I chose the Deluxe for $45 and was pleased with the service. Tony was skilled in massage and all the other aspects of the Deluxe Pedicure! The Exfoliating Scrub getting all the winter gunk off my feet! The Warm Paraffin Treatment where they wrap you feet in bags that have warm paraffin that has been melted they put the bag on and then squish the paraffin around massaging your feet as well as softening, I LOVED IT! A full leg massage was very relaxing! With the Deluxe Pedicure like I mentioned I got a glass of white wine and even a refill when I finished that! Also Got to watch a Concert of Adele which was GREAT! I'll be going back to Kims again 4 SURE! read more

First time I went to Kim's Day Spa, I was happy with the gel nails I got. However, I'm unsure what kind of gel they use, but it really ruined my nails. Yesterday I went with a friend and I was very unhappy with the manicure I got. The wine was warm and the woman who did my nails painted over my cuticles! Make sure you get the prices beforehand! I went for a bachelorette party and made the mistake of telling the gentleman doing my mani/pedi that it was only my second time getting one. He went ahead and gave me full service treatment without asking... I didn't find out later that you could choose the price and level of service until I talked to my other friends. Otherwise the place was nice, a good spot for a small bachelorette party with lots of chairs in a row in the back so you can all chat together, free glass of wine, good service except for the part where I got over-charged! read more

I have been going to Kim's since she opened in Fed Hill. I love it! I have always been offered wine no matter what time of day and yes, that means 10am, which of course I accepted after a long day/night at work. I usually go for Happy Hour to get my Spa Pedi for $35 and my gel also for $35. Kim has her dog Barbie in the salon and she's adorable!! There's always something interesting to watch on T.V. which just allows me to relax, have a good time, and enjoy my mani-pedis! The prices are decent for the area and you can't beat the service. If you are easily offended, beware... I love the spa gossip and Kim with her "jayjay" talk, I think it's hilarious but I'm not easily offended. I get all my waxing done here by Kim only. She's quick and knows what she's doing. After reading the other reviews:*If you have an issue with anything-nails, waxing, etc.- tell Kim! She will get it fixed! Sometimes a tech may not understand what you want so go through Kim! Kim's has definitely become my go-to spot for nails. They are super efficient. However, I would recommend going during non-busy times like during weekdays as opposed to evenings. I love that they always have fun girly movies playing and offer a glass of wine. They also have a ton of colors to choose from! Additional bonus is Kim's absolutely adoptable pup that roams the salon. The only reason I have to knock off a star is because I have had nail techs who sometimes rush. One recently was a little too rough with the nail file and made a small cut on my finger. Ouch! Sooooooooo convenient. I am a member of the Merritt Athletic Club and it is such a time saver having a day spa in it. I love Erica, the masseuse. She is fantastic. She does everything according to your tolerance. I normally, prefer male masseurs, because I thought they had more hand strength. Erica proved me wrong. Plus she is very professional and clinical. **Tips are cash only** Kim's is a great place in Federal Hill. The prices are okay, but there are some unique benefits. Kim's offers free glass(es) of wine with your service. I can't imagine this is legal (don't you need a liquor license?) but no one is complaining. Kim's has Netflix hooked up to the flat-screen so you can watch movies you actually want to see vs. Montel Williams. My pedicure was really excellent. My technician offered to show me what the two colors I was debating looked like on her nails. My manicure is chipping, but I think that was the Essie polish I selected and not the job that was done. Kim is usually there talking to the customers or with a client. She is hysterical, but not for delicate ears. In the time I was there (2 hours) I heard what maybe was normal nail salon gossip: sex, drugs, drinking, and girl talk. I was amused, but I can see how some people wouldn't be. read more

Visiting my sister in Baltimore for the weekend, got in town on Friday afternoon and decided to kickstart our time together with manis and pedis here upon recommendation of a friend of hers. For starters, the place was packed, employees running around like maniacs (apparently they were in the middle of doing a wedding party) so we had about a half an hour wait, which I wouldn't have minded had the rest of the experience been worthwhile. Starting with the pedicure, I sat in the chair unattended for so long that my water got cold and my sister didn't even have jets going in hers. When a technician finally came to do mine, she literally acted like she was at a NASCAR pit stop and when I told her my water was cold she practically third degree burned my feet to solve the problem. She was so busy talking and looking everywhere else that she clipped and filed my skin off more than once. She literally ripped 3/4 of my pinky toenail off and I screamed in horror she laughed and said "I know I know". My sisters lady did what appeared to be a fine job until we noticed today (two days since our visit there) both of her socks were bloody. Her 4th toenail on both feet the nail is split all the way down the center and there is no salvaging them so she just has them bandaged until they fall off. GROSS and painful. The manicures were less of an issue other than the lady still being way too interested in everything around her and rushing to get me done so thar she could go do someone else. She put three coats of gel on, so my left index finger chipped already because the polish was too thick to set. When she was done she told me "you can get up now" basically saying please get out of my chair. The experience was far from relaxing and they won't be having us as returning customers when there are multiple other salons in the area that do a better job. Took a man here and the pedicure lady put in serious work to make things right and did an excellent job. The chairs were really comfy and the décor is nice and looks pretty clean. My mani pedi was also good except for the fact that they were rushing because we were the last customers and they got a little sloppy with my cuticles. read more

This was my first pedicure of the season and I picked a great time to stop in...there was no wait. There was only one other client when I came in. The staff was very friendly and joked with clients. Try encouraged my husband to get a pedicure! (Too bad he declined-another client with her boyfriend was offered and he agreed for his first time). Do not waste your money here. I had two fake nails fall off within the first week of having them done. When I went back to get them fixed they painted them the wrong color. Did not tell me and instead of just taking off the wrong paint they painted over all my other nails. I thought they were fixing chips until I got home and realized they just painted over everything with the wrong color. When I got my toes done here they just clipped them and painted them. Came here based on two good personal reviews. Seven workers there, no one said a word. Asked for a pedicure. Didn't get asked what kind of pedicure. More people came in, they all got a glass of wine. We didn't even get an offer. Salt scrub was used in about 5 seconds then rinsed off. Lotion was the same. Pumice stone was used sub par. No massage given. Not worth $25 and not worth a tip. Lived in Baltimore for 5 years and I always came back to this place for gel manicure. They have a nice laid back atmosphere and while getting nails done they have some recent movie playing. I've been to salons that are bare, no music is playing or it's ambiguous spa music that I can literally fall asleep to. About $50-60 for regular pedi and gel manicure. My gels have always lasted longer here, as in 4-6 weeks with no chipping or that weird gap where your hair gets caught under. I will miss Kim's day spa! If I'm back in town I definitely will get a gel mani here!! read more

Worst nail salon in all of Baltimore. I have given this place three tries which is fair enough and each time the people have been rude, pushy, and rough with your nails/hands. The nail color comes out uneven and the shape of my nails are uneven as well. I realize that some of them have to be a little shorter, but the shape should at least match the rest of them. I will never ever ever come back here and this is my first review on yelp.com as I never felt a place was worth writing a negative review until this place. This is disappointing...I really wanted to like this place. Came in to get a mani/pedi and I go to pick out the colors I wanted from Essie and they don't have either ones. So I ask them and they are just like sorry that's all we have (took 1 star off). I opted for the pedi with callus remover and all I can say is for the $5 extra I had to spend places will do this for free for their basic pedi. Also the lady did not let my feet soak enough so when she was cutting the skin around my toe nails it hurt and burned (another star off). Let's go to the manicure....they asked me about 5 times if I wanted gel and I kept saying no...first off don't ask your customer more than once and when I told her the gel makes my nails weak she said no it didn't. I've had it done before and it definitely does. She cut my nails crooked and sometimes put so much on that the nail polish bubbled because she was in such a rush. Also when they soak your hands it's just water. At other places they usually put some skin softening stuff in there. When it was all said and done I was kinda in a rush and asked them if they had the quick dry oil/spray that most nail salons have to help the polish dry quicker and they had no idea what I was talking about (another star off). Seriously....your business is a nail salon...the specialty is nails! Maybe I'm spoiled from when I lived in NY but I have been to another salon in Fed Hill that at least did a paraffin treatment with my manicure. So it looks like I will probably be trying Bella Nails which is across the street next time. And oh for people that come here for the first time and plan on continuing their business...there is a rewards program that no one told me about. I tried Kim's for the first time today. I really want to give them 5 stars because I LOVED my pedicure. It was very well done and very relaxing. Its beautiful inside, very clean, and I loved that their pups were running around. I was offered wine and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was playing on their big screen tv. Whats not to love?! BUT - I noticed that while getting my eyebrows waxed, my esthetician used the same stick for the entire process. Which means that I'm sure that is the process they use for everyone getting anything waxed, and I'm a little skeeved out by that. The worst mani pedi that I've ever received. My sister and I visited Kim Day Spa earlier today and both thought it was absolutely awful. They first painted our toenails very sloppily, I asked my person to fix the nail polish that had somehow made its way everywhere but by actual toenails, he removed it from my skin but smeared the polish on the nail and refused to fix it. We then got gel manicures and they just started applying the polish without tending to our cuticles or filing or anything. The finished product was atrocious for both my sister and me and they just kept yelling at us when I tried to ask them to fix it. Eventually the owner came by and scolded the individuals that did our nails but I'm still left with a terrible excuse for a manicure and out $120.00. All the things you dont like about these 'budget' joints Kim does not allow. The place can be packed and it is serene and spa-like and pleasant, positive and not frantic confused or rushed in any way. I was a walk-in and loved every minute. Yes they handed me a menu to point and choose...what's wrong with that? I did get the deluxe pedi and it was great....the male tech...I am extremely sensitive and hate that cuticle stuff and most of all toenail clipping makes me cringe but this was confident professional superb. Got a regular mani and it was not worth the trip or the price. The woman I got hardly spoke English, so I assume she didn't understand when I asked for rounded rather than squared nails. She didn't take very much care in filing them either; a couple ended up crooked. I went in to a packed salon, waited 45 minutes, had the gel color selection stolen from me so a "regular" could take a look (guess she's more important than me). Most importantly, the gel manicure is the most expensive I've ever paid at $35, I thought $30 was the national standard for gel, AND it chipped within 7 days. I had Hong as my aesthetician and she was great. i was able to get a walk in appt early in the morning and had a great waxing session. The brazilian was as pain free as you get, quick, and professional with no damage,bumps, and minimal redness (and I have sensitive skin). the eyebrow waxing was also perfect, not too much, not too little just clean classic shaping. Been a member of Merritt Athletic club for many years and finally made it to Kim's in Canton a few weeks back. I got a mani pedi. Good price, only $35 for both but they didn't last. Manicures never last long for me but usually I get a month or so until my pedicures start chipping. This one did not last for more than a couple of days before it started chipping. But, other than that it was a nice place and I didn't have to wait at all on a Saturday morning so I'm not really complaining. It was clean and the people were decent. All in all, not bad.
