Finding a good chinese restaurant is like finding a good dentist. Things go well for some time..then all hell breaks loose. The previous restaurant that wifey and I used to go to (for three years) really messed up our orders 3-4 consecutive times. So I did some research to find one nearby who had better Yelp ratings and came across Xing Xing Rong Chang. So far we have been ordering from this spot about 5 times and each time my general tso chicken and port fried rice is cooked perfectly. My wife absolutely loves her chicken eggfoo young. Ever have a used band-aid with your shrimp fried rice?? (yes I said a band-aid!!!) I have! and trust me, it was not a pleasant experience. I recently ordered my meal from XING XING RONG CHANG Chinese Restaurant in Elmont (strip mall by Western beef) and shortly after serving myself a plateful, I bit into something that felt very odd. After pulling it from my mouth, I examined what appeared to be a plastic sheathing of some sort. At this point I feared the worst, and as I unraveled it, it became apparent that it was actually a blood stained band-aid! I assumed it must have come from the finger of the cook that prepared the meal. yuck!! Aside from the trauma I am suffering, and let's not forget about the health hazard I am disgusted by the thought that this establishment allowed a staff member to prepare the food without gloves or to use any type of safety & hygiene protocols to ensure that the customers are protected from these kinds of hazards. I returned the food with the band-aid and threatened to sue them - they couldn't care less! This is hands down one of the best Chinese food restaurants I've gotten food from. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the restaurant is always clean. Front desk lady is highly disrespectful. I called to place an order. She got an attitude after I ordered fried plantains and told me the order will take 30 mins to be ready. I replied that the time frame was fine with me. After completely my order she abruptly hung up the phone. I called back to ask for the total amount for the order and that I will be picking up. She caught an attitude again and told me that the order will take much longer to be ready because they were busy. The time frame wasn't a problem for me and she proceeded to bark instead of answering my question regarding the total amount. I cancelled my order and told her I will no longer be buying food from her again. I have been ordering Chinese food here for years and have watched her catch attitude with other customers. My personal go to options are their sweet and sour chicken and orange beef. One of the great things about General Tso's Chicken is that nice, crispness. The rice that it comes with should be fluffy, or sticky and have some flavor, without tasting salty. The chicken should also have a little bit of spice too. Anyway, down to the facts. The meal cost me $8.45. It started at $5.25 but a $1.50 charge for white meat chicken plus another $0.75 for egg plus tax. They used real, recognizable chicken breast! That is one absolute positive. However, the chicken was not crispy, not even a faint crunch (because it wasn't sliced thin nor breaded properly). It wasn't the least bit spicy. The rice had no flavor.
