I have seen this place for years and never went in. Now I love love me some Chinese food and they didn't disappoint. My parents introduced me to this place and they go every Sunday after church. So yesterday (Sunday) I joined them. We were greeted by friendly staff but again my parents come every Sunday so they were friendly because they know them. But I think they do well because people were coming in and the place has been serving clientele for 30+ years.. The inside is very spacious and nicely decorated and maintained. The food we had reminded me of Chinatown (Wo Hop on Mott St). We ordered pork mei fun, veggie mei fun, General Tao's chicken, spicy prawn dish and broccoli w/ garlic sauce Oh and we started with hot and sour soup and wonton soup. We also had these crispy chips on the table with some good sauces ( chili paste, hot mustard and duck sauce) to dip. Services was super quick and plentiful. Everything arrived hot and tasty. I've been going to this restaurant for many years. Takeout menu is awful the orders are always wrong they forget to give napkins, condiments, etc. food is questionable at best. Tonight I dined with my family for whatever reason they forget to add black bean sauce in the shrimps, this is not the first time. We ordered lobster with ginger and scallions, tho we got scallions and ginger along with lobster shells no lobster at all we paid $30 plus dollars. Haven't been here in years, hoping food had improved - it hadn't. Had one of the lunch specials and it was tasteless and prepared poorly. 9/6/25. A rainy Sat night called for Chinese food, and the place was crowded! Much better experience this time. Ribs were good but could have used more seasoning. Ordered shrimp and garlic sauce, but added all kinds of mushrooms, including my fav the flat kind/wood ear. Hunan shrimp was tasty but the garlic sauce had more flavor. Chicken and broccoli super bland in a white slimy sauce not brown. Wonton over cooked and broke apart trying to eat it. Only good thing was egg roll. Bits of pork in it. Came highly recommended by my cousin for that authentic Chinese we had growing up. Didn't disappoint. The only thing I found disappointing was the parking, but hey, there was a public lot nearby and this is NY, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Went with the steamed chicken dumplings, BBQ ribs, scallion pancakes and hot & spicy cabbage. Service to the table was beautiful, with dumplings in bamboo steamer and all others on reasonably size plates that didn't take up the entire table. Hot & spicy cabbage was not over-the-top hot, and loved the scallion pancakes! We kind of had to draw straws on who got the last BBQ rib. ;) Dinner was the vegetarian Buddha's delight and the Beef and Scallop Sizzler. Had white rice and ordered a side of fried rice as well. There were almost NO leftovers, and there were certainly no scallops left over. Very nice sized, not overcooked and we shared equally. Buddha's delight was so flavorful and used such an assortment of veggies, I almost forgot there was no meat. But again, there was plenty on the beef & scallop platter to share. I live not that far away growing up, and it's always been a place I wanted to try. The truth is, I wanted to try the ramen spot right across the street, but they were closed for what I guess was an afternoon siesta - Yikes! Anyway, I was hungry and desperate and didn't have an hour to kill. So Far So Good for me was a bit underwhelming, but I did appreciate the appetizer of fried wonton with duck sauce. Always always an absolute pleasure coming here. Walked in on a Friday night and was seated within 10 minutes. The staff is always kind and accommodating. They start by bringing you crispy noodles, duck sauce and a spicy mustard sauce. Super yummy! A pot of hot tea was on the table waiting for us. We ordered the steak on a stick (my son's personal favorite) and the barbecue ribs for appetizers. From my son: "The steak is so juicy and sweet!" Barbecue ribs were salted well with a nice layer of fat and a nice layer of char. The ribs are big and honestly we were pretty full after that. For the entree, we shared the orange chicken. Comes with white rice. Soooo good. Served nice and hot, super crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Slight amount of spice to it which was enjoyable. Orange peels were cooked with the dish. This always makes me feel like I'm getting something homemade so nice to see that. Veggies cooked in the dish were crisp and delicious. I came here with my family and we had a good time. The place itself gives you an old Chinese restaurant feel the seating area was a large room with many tables. We were seated and they gave us the large chips that I absolutely love with duck sauce. Just for this I'm coming back I really like these and it makes me feel like a kid all over again. It made me feel like this place was authentic ny Chinese. For drinks we got a pina colada which we thought was ok and a Cosmo which was also alright. We ordered shrimp lo mein it was a good portion and tasted good. A large fried rice that I would have preferred to have more in it so next time I would probably get veggies and a meat. Shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce my only problem was there was no sauce at all they had to bring me a side I'm not sure how that happened but they did fix that for me. We also got an order of chicken wings which I thought could have been better they were cut up which is not really my preference but overall nothing special. So far so good, as I write my review. I actually stumbled upon it, as I stopped for the noodle place next door and they weren't open yet. The restaurant had ample seating although at noon on a Tuesday, they weren't crowded. It was clean and enough spacing between tables that you wouldn't be on top of your table neighbor. Upon arrival they bring noodles w sweet and sour sauce and mustard, which I absolutely love! It's the bread and butter of American fare that Asian restaurants do not seem to do anymore. They also bring a pitcher of water and tea pot for you to serve yourself. Nice for someone like me that drinks a lot of water and appreciates the tea. The egg drop soup was a tad salty, but good overall. I ate it all, if that's any indication of how bothered I was. My entree was large shrimp and with broccoli, spicy. 5 jumbo shrimp on the lunch special. The broccoli was perfectly cooked with a little crunch. Delicious. The shrimp was cooked well, not rubbery and tasted fresh. It lacked a little seasoning for my taste, but overall a good choice. The mai tai was typical and orangy. I love having soup with the Crate and Barrel Miles soup spoon-- it is big and round and holds a lot of soup. I add some freshly ground white pepper (you can buy white peppercorns with the grinder attached). I am serious about food and utensils. Like that food critic in Ratatouille: I don't like food, I LOVE it and make every calorie count! I am obsessed with the lobster. Made in the traditional Chinese style of your choice: ginger and scallion;, Black Bean sauce or Cantonese. I like that they will deliver to areas that are not that close for a small fee. Excellent hot and sour soup and chicken corn soup. The website allows you to choose a free item with your purchase. The best item is the crab Rangoon: crispy pillows of heavenly creamy warm cream cheese with pieces of Kani. The only thing I don't like is that they give you the soup that comes in the lunch specials in coffee cups and they are really small and the cups taste weird. We ordered the egg drop soup with wontons, fried chicken wings, chow fun with shrimp, pepper beef, and moo goo Gai pan chicken. The egg drop soup was too thick, didn't have flavor, and the wonton skins were so thick. The fried chicken wings were underseasoned, but fine after adding soy sauce or dipping in the sweet and sour sauce they give for their fried wonton pieces. The pepper beef had no flavor and the shrimp in the chow fun were the tiny shrimp and the dish was extremely oily and lacked flavor. They gave us the moo goo gai pan sauce on the side and we didn't realize it until after our meal, which explained why we got the blanded chicken dish. With the sauce it was fine, but there are plenty other Chinese places nearby that I would much rather go to. read more
