Technically, bacon strips are pork belly, but what you get are bacon strips. The meat are tiny strips. We ordered Kim chi pancake, asked three times. and it never came. They still added it to our bill. Asked for sesame oil. Never came.

Special callout to the ribeye and giant short rib. The meat was good quality and the rice fluffy. The server frequently changed our grill which helped minimize smoke. He was very attentive to our needs.

The beef bulgogi was full of tendon and oddly stringy, with an overpowering pepper-heavy seasoning that masked any depth of flavor. The flavor profiles across the meats just didn't work. Oddly enough, the pork belly was the best thing...

we tried. After sampling a few cuts, we decided to call it a night, the quality just wasn't there. The banchan selection was minimal, and the kimchi was extremely fermented and sour, not my preference, especially for KBBQ. I also found it odd (and kind of annoying) that they charge extra for ssam (lettuce), which is typically included at most KBBQ spots. On top of that, there weren't many sauce options available, which made it hard to build satisfying bites. One of the strangest parts of the experience was the service style: the servers would place the raw meat directly onto our grill instead of just dropping the plates off. For me, part of the fun of KBBQ is cooking the meat how I want, especially when I like to separate proteins and grill them with specific veggies. It felt invasive and made the meal feel rushed. For the price, the menu options were limited, and I'm honestly relieved we didn't splurge on the more expensive set,we would've just been more disappointed. This place seems to cater more toward people unfamiliar with Korean cuisine, which might explain the flavor choices and format. If you're looking for authentic or high-quality KBBQ, I'd just make the drive and end up going to Thousand Oaks or LA. Even if you're craving kbbq really quick I don't think the price is even worth it.

We ordered the prime brisket, beef belly, garlic pork belly, steamed egg, spicy soft tofu soup, Korean dumplings, cheese corn and beef bulgogi. We also had their kimchi, kimchi cucumbers, and their jalapeño onions. I tried the...

Tteokbokki banchan, but it wasn't what I expected. It was basically a rice cake with spicy sweet chili sauce. I wouldn't order this again next time. Other than the Tteokbokki, all the food was very good. The service was very good and efficient, so you are in and out of there fairly quickly. The employees were all very helpful and attentive. The restaurant is cozy with simple decor and a few pieces of art work. Parking is street parking from what I could tell. Overall, we had a great experience here and would come back. Happy Nom Nom!

We came here at 2pm after two hikes and were famished. We watched all the servers go on break expect for one. There were at least 5 tables of customers. That poor guy. It was hard to be patient when we are hungry. We got platinum all you can eat because we really wanted the beef tongue. There were a few long moments when we finished all the side dishes and the meats and was simply waiting to put in our next order. The server was trying to tend to all the tables and had a positive demeanor but long wait. There is two single stall bathrooms. We were disappointed in the bulgogi nachos as the ratio of chips to meat was super off. We were also disappointed in the Korean soybean paste stew. Too salty. We tried to put some steam egg inside to make it less salty but the eggs didn't taste good anymore. We love the brisket sauce, the pickled radish wraps, daikon kimchi, pickled onions, and beef tongue the most. We ordered five plates over the course of our time mostly off the platinum menu. We were there for 2.5 hours and didn't feel satiated in the end. I would come back to try again.

The service here is fantastic! Servers were constantly aware of the guests needed something or wanted to order more. The detail for me is their ability to know what we needed something as simple as needing more napkins were provided before even asking them. The food was great! The choice in meats and other items was a good spread. I would definitely come back next time that I'm in town!

Tried Kimchi KBBQ in Santa Barbara on a Friday night around 7 PM and surprisingly there was no wait at all. The place is pretty small, probably only around 10 tables that seat about 4-6 people each, so it feels more cozy than a big KBBQ spot. One thing I really liked was that they have a link where you can order food directly from your phone, which made everything super easy and helped avoid waiting around for servers to come by. The service was honestly great. Everyone was very nice, attentive, and the food came out really quickly every time we ordered. That was definitely the highlight of the experience. As for the food itself, the meat quality just wasn't really up to par compared to other KBBQ places I've been to, especially for the price. They charge $36.99 and only offer 5 different meat options, which felt a little limited. I honestly think they benefit from being one of the only KBBQ spots in the wider Santa Barbara area, because in bigger cities with more competition I don't think the pricing and meat quality would stand out as much.

Food is great but servings are small, you are given 99 minutes too eat which is more than enough as long as you order fast. The service was fast and food never took longer than 5 min too come out after ordering.

Super delicious, so much to choose from and staff is so nice. I would definitely recommend this to everyone! I was so surprised by how easy it was to cook, staff was very caring and helped us out, as this was our first time here, and we were nervous. Overall, amazing setting and vibes!!

While we were in SB, my brother in law was looking for Korean BBQ. This place ISNT CLEAN! we asked for water and the cups when we got them, it was the steal ones and when we poured the water, you could see the layer of the oil which is disgusting! Anyways the water didn't even taste good. So we asked for other cups and asked for Togo which they didnt have. So they brought those blue cups and one of them had a lemon seed! Excuse me! Wth is this! So we tell the server and she didn't seem to care. The owner doesn't really speak English. Now we ask for fried rice! Don't bother, it was brought cold and it was disgusting! Some meats were good but I would not return this place! You need to be clean! It's a restaurant! read more

What a great place to enjoy AYCE Korean BBQ. We got there a little late after our reservation because we couldn't find parking. The staff at the front was nice enough to tell us to park in the back. Luckily we eventually found a spot in the front. They didn't bump us out of line. We got the Platinum option. The meat was very tasty. The large beef rib bone was amazing and the meat was so soft. All the staff was really nice. One of the staff asked if we have dogs and offer to wrap our beef rib bone to take home. Kids price is age plus $4. This is the best deal of any Korean AYCE places we've been to. read more

The Khao Soi had egg noodles and chicken in a curry base broth with coconut milk, fish sauce, pickled mustard greens, cilantro, green onions, and housemade chili oil. They also give you crispy egg noodles to put on top. I appreciated that they wrapped this separately in foil, so they didn't get soggy right away! The chicken pieces were quite large, but overall the broth was tasty! I enjoyed the Tom Yum Noodles! For these, they use flat wheat noodles with Thai chili paste, bunashimeji mushrooms, white button mushrooms, fish sauce, red jalapeño, galangal herb, makrut lime leaves, lemongrass, cherry tomatoes, and cilantro. I chose chicken for my protein. The tom yum flavor really came through! They also give a pretty big portion! Since they are located in a food hall, you can sit at any of the tables. Empty Bowl will give you a pager, so you know when to return to the counter to pick up your food.

Santa Barbara has lacked great Asian food places for awhile. Now with boba shops, ramen and Pho spots and now KBBQ available in town, I feel that the more people are exposed to Asian fare, the better these restaurants will eventually become. I'll start by saying no--it's not comparable to the Valley or LA. But I didn't expect that, and Kimchi went above what I had first imagined. First off, prices: yes they're more expensive than most KBBQ joints but for the gas you'd spend going to Santa Maria or Oxnard, you can save by staying in town. Lunch is $19.99 for AYCE and dinner is $26.99. There are obviously more choices available for dinner, and prices usually go up for these entrees. Location: they are uptown near San Roque. Parking was easy to find up front (90 min parking) or they have parking behind the building. Food: I grew up in LA and I know what KBBQ should be like. Kimchi's meats are great, albeit a bit chewy and missing some flavors on the bulgogi, but overall I was satisfied. My significant other and I enjoyed a quiet lunch chatting away and ordering very well-portioned out sizes of all kinds of meats. (I hate wasting food and by the end I was thankful they only bring out smaller-than-most-KBBQ portions at a time. Hey, it's AYCE, order as many of those suckers as you want but don't waste!) I also had the calamari tempura which was surprisingly quite delicious. Staff: our waitstaff was wonderful. It was the end of lunch time so the place was slowing down, but as soon as we asked for an order of meat we received it in 1-5 mins. This kept the fire on the grill going hot! Also quick to refill drinks and teas. Thanks everyone! Overall I'm happy with the food and service we received. I hope that the quality and food offerings only get better and not worse from here...if that remains true then we will definitely be back many times in the future. read more

Last night, my friends and I went to this restaurant to have an enjoyable experience as we've done before. Unfortunately we will not be going back there. One of the staff that was changing the hot plates accidentally spilled hot oil onto my finger and I have sustained a decent burn and blister, still kind of hurts. I am watching it and considering going to urgent care if needed. We brought up the incident to Fernando who we assume was the floor manager, and he apologized and later took 10% off our bill. We discussed among ourselves and ultimately felt this was insufficient and his apology felt rather insincere. When we asked to get the bill reduced further considering my finger and the potential harm, he seemed to reluctantly reduce it further which probably equalled another 10%. The real issue I have, is the staff in question blamed me for having my hand too close to the burner, which it wasn't even on the table, and this Fernando backed her up and they both were rather insincere about the whole incident. So they made their choice. 10% off into 20% and no future revenue from this group. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Poor customer service very small place they let people leave the table with their stuff on it since theres a 2 hour limit so people who be waiting for a hour have to stare a empty table. They don't take reservations but they let people put there name on the list and then they call them and they show up 10min later while the table just been sitting there they dont make room for large parties theres clearly more room at the tables and they let a party of 25 take up the whole place. We have been waiting for 90min and they haven't even asked us if we wanted water and they sit people ahead of us because they were smaller then are party of 6 that we all could have fit at the table instead the put 2 people at a table that could have easily fit 6 peope but they said that table was only for 4 people. These people are so dumb and they lose so much business we saw at least 15 people who waited for 30min and then they just left because of how they sit people and how slow they are very very poor customer service. Alr im from la just moved up here for college so maybe im a little spoiled with the koreatown spots but honestly everything was pretty decent nothing great but decent and we came back a few times but what I just don't really appreciate was, we noticed the older lady trying to flip our food but since im so used to going to kbbq we kept asking her not to but she kept continuing and when she would stop she would be really eying our cooking which was a little uncomfortable but we were the only ones in the resteraunt so maybe that's what it was, but we kept asking for the heat higher and at a certain point it felt like they cut the heat completely. This place is a solid choice for KBBQ, especially considering it's pretty much the only option around. The food is good, and the servers are attentive, which definitely makes for a pleasant dining experience. That said, it's pretty standard KBBQ - nothing that really stands out. One thing that threw me off was the jiggae. The flavor seemed a bit off, especially the doenjang jiggae, which oddly had a hint of ketchup? It just didn't hit the mark for me. They could really benefit from bringing in a Korean aunty to give it more of that traditional, home-cooked feel. Overall, it's good for what it is, but I wouldn't call it amazing. As I got tired of going to Gen, Oxnard everytime, I was searching another place to go. Finally I've found GOLD in santa barbara. They have variety of meat selection. And quality of meat was outstanding. Meat was melting in mouth like butter. Also side dishes won't run out. All the server were very attentive. I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this restaurant last night. My friend suffered a second-degree oil burn during our meal when the waitress was changing our grill. Rather than taking full responsibility for the safety issue, the manager offered a mere 10% discount. To make matters worse, the waitress attempted to blame my friend for the injury, claiming he put his hand too close to the grill. The lack of accountability and the dismissive attitude regarding a serious injury is unacceptable. I would caution others until they take guest safety more seriously. read more

I don't really write reviews but WOW that was one of the best dining experience I had with my wife. I used to work for USDA Food Services and they are indeed prime grade. I've tried other korean bbq places for some what cheaper price (ranging $10-$20) but you can tell they are not prime grade. Thus my overall review, prices are very flexible for both lunch and dinner. Tip: one of the server showed me a "Korean Style" cooking on one of the items. It was the Pork Belly and he fried it with Kimchi and it was amazing. Definitely recommend this place.
