The kimchi duruchigi was probably my favorite -- the pork was tender and really flavorful, and the kimchi added a nice spicy, tangy kick. The spicy beef stew was comforting and hearty. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the chicken yaki udon had great flavor with perfectly chewy noodles. Everything came out hot and the portions were generous. Bordering on good authentic Asian nook, great staff, large menu, familiar and somewhat Americanized options make for easy eating in this low ceiling quaint spot. My sister and I enjoyed the glass Noodle and dumplings apps. Her basic big soup and my bulgogi were fine. There's nothing surprisingly great or annoying here, feels like some local spot copy pasted into the west side of Lafayette. Heard a lot of good things about about this place, decide to visit on Friday night. The restaurant was packed, but they still managed to bring in our food really fast. The service was above and beyond, they even split our leftover hotpot for us in the containers! The food was very legit and delicious. Was in town for a short time to take my Purdue student out to eat. He lives too far to walk here easily which was perfect for the evening. The decor is sparse. The tables and chairs were not that comfortable which just means they can get you in and out I suppose. The food was very good and we loved trying new foods. The spicy Pork... rice on bottom of the bowl and topped with egg was our favorite. The dumplings were really tasty dipped in a red spicy sauce. I make SURE to stop by kimchi restaurant every time I'm in the area. I usually order their Kimchi Jiggae which never fails, but decided to try their hotpot recently which did not disappoint. I thought the hot pot which was meant to serve two (for $37) was very generously portioned. We barely got halfway through it all and so we left with plenty of leftovers. Came here for the first time on a Saturday night early around 530 and luckily were seated immediately as it was not full. I also do not think that they take reservations as I checked. However by the time we left it was getting busy and there were a lot more people. The menu has some very traditional Korean dish staples which was great to see. Portions were fair if not more generous for what you ordered. It was great to see a lot of Koreans in the restaurant because it helps me understand the level of authenticity of the recipes and the cooking. I would definitely come back again however they also do take out which I would gladly do because I am close by. Our server this evening was very nice and very helpful because we had a challenging time distinguishing between the two chicken noodle and chicken udon soups on the menu. read more

First Korean spot I've tried in the greater Lafayette area and I was not disappointed. I haven't had the chance to visit the restaurant yet given the current COVID-19 situation, but we had food delivered via GrubHub. I'm a pescatarian so these are the dishes I tried: - spicy pancakes: this is a staple Korean dish for (I get it pretty much every time I go out for Korean food). 5/5 - spicy squid: 5/5 - spicy seafood udon noodles: 3/5 We also got 2 small complimentary dishes: boiled broccoli with some pickled vegetables and a type of miso soup. Both were fantastic! Although all the dishes we ordered were labelled as spicy, it's not an overbearing kind of heat. I felt it was just the right amount (for me personally). Portions are reasonable for the prices. They have a good variety of seafood, vegetarian and non-veg items on the menu. Will definitely be ordering from them again. Keep up the great work. Giving this place a 4 star considering there aren't many Korean options around this area and this place definitely appeals to those seeking the "home cooked" experience. The ambience overall at this place was just normal with a focus on cleanliness and attentive service. Oh my YUM! A great little Korean spot open late enough to stop by after picking up the child from camp. We got the duk bok ki, mul neng myun, bibimbop and the bulgogi. All so delicious. This place really hits the spot when it's a rainy or cold day out. I love getting the tofu soup- it is a dish that is close to home for me. Their side dishes are also very tasty, but I am unsure if I can ask for more without charge like other restaurants. Service is attentive also. This is some of the best Korean food I've ever had!! My husband and I were up in the West Lafayette area and decided to try it. We were so surprised. We really wanted to try pigs feet (Jok Bal) since we saw it on a YouTube video. It was listed on the menu as an "appetizer" haha wow what an understatement!!! It was a huge portion!! The side dishes were assorted broccoli, kimchi, potatoes etc.. The kimchi was so good BTW. We also ordered spicy pork and a seafood pancake. We ate SO MUCH!!! It was such a refreshing meal, we definitely ate our hearts desire. So if you're in the area or traveling north or south on I-65 and you're craving that special dish you saw on YouTube or a K-Drama then you should seek this place out. Came to visit my sister and her friends at Purdue and they picked this Korean restaurant to eat at! Kimchi is located right off the road, next to a gas station with the restaurant name in big letters. Walking in around 2pm, there weren't many people so the atmosphere was quiet and nice. The interior was spacious and would be great for big parties (we comfortably sat 8 of our friends with us). I had ordered the Korean cold noodles and the bowl was HUGE!! I had eaten a lot of KBBQ at a different restaurant the day before so I wanted something light to counterbalance all the meat. It was the perfect choice in my opinion. The broth was a good balance between refreshing and tangy and there were many noodles in my bowl - I was a happy camper. They also gave you two bottles of sauce and vinegar if you wanted to add a little bit more of each into your broth. The waiter was very polite and very friendly - he made our experience great. Only downside about Kimchi is that it is a little pricy compared to other Korean restaurants I've been to. Overall, good experience and would come here next time I'm at Purdue! read more

This restaurant was very confusing, to say the least. I went here with friends awhile ago based on the schick/high-end looking menu online when we were looking for an Asian place to go to for dinner, and we arrived at a small, dingy eatery with high school auditorium chairs and tables, dirty drink cups, and rowdy patrons with screaming toddlers, clashing with a smartly-dressed wait staff. An unpleasantly-contrasting ambience, to say the least. What they did get in accordance with the high-end airs was something I wish they hadn't -- namely, the tiny serving sizes for the cost of the food. I suppose you could fill up on rice if you are willing to pay for extra bowls, but generally you are not looking to buy a bunch of rice when you pay for a meal at a restaurant. I anyways ordered the short rib patties, being one of the only carnivore-friendly things that looked like it wouldn't be drenched in a sugary soy/teriyaki sauce, and what I got was about six small, not-very-tasty patties for the amount of money I could have bought several pounds worth of ground beef and made an infinitely better meal at home. Add to that I had indigestion afterwards, though probably from the bit of soy there was on it with the sauce and not necessarily from something being spoiled. Though who knows? Overall, the atmosphere is uncomfortable and the food is overpriced. I'd give it a miss. read more

It's nice to have a pleasant surprise in this town and we dropped by the restaurant since our daughter goes to school nearby. We had the traditional foods that we pick up as main courses for Korean food. We haven't had this for about a month and truly miss it. The one that we usually go to in Niles, IL moved to more of all-you-can-eat for a flat rate of $35 and only serve steak or meat for this price. Since we aren't big meat eaters, we are scavenging to find the right restaurant in our hometown right now. As for this place, it's more of a no-thrills-looking place without much music or ambiance. They were playing music off of a little speaker in the corner of the room. As for the food, it's decent and good enough for you to give it try. One thing that is weird is that they charge extra for more appetizer dishes. Someone probably abused this in the past by ordering more and didn't finish it up. We probably need to find other places around town as well. We will visit the place again and enjoy their kind and friendly hospitality. We got takeout from Kimchi while in the area. My boyfriend got the bulgolgi and I ordered soondubu with beef. Both came with broccoli and bean sprout banchan, plus rice. I thought my soondubu was very good. The heat level was just right and the beef was well flavored. I tried some of the bulgolgi -- it was a more mild flavor than I'm used to, and cooked and served with veggies.
