Before the sale of my house 1/7/26, my buyer agreed to continue with Kimlin and my attorney assured me that letting her open an account and get a refund based on remaining fuel once the tank was filled was standard. After 4 months with no communication/refund, I reached out to Kimlin. The rep told me that even though my 500-gallon tank was locked by Kimlin with 48% fuel remaining the day after closing, when they finally picked up the tank 5/12/26 they claimed it was empty. They said it is not their responsibility to reimburse me and suggested I pursue the buyer of my home or another party for theft of the propane. read more

Kimlin Propane has been extremely disappointing to deal with. I was repeatedly talked in circles or outright hung up on when calling to question charges that I was told would be covered by a credit on my account. This all began when I called to request a delivery and the driver filled the wrong tank, causing me to run out of propane. They later returned and capped my tank, claiming it failed inspection. this was in December. However, the technician who came out explained that the tank did not fail. The issue was a non-functioning shutoff valve, and the driver clearly did not know what he was doing. I was told the tank would need to be replaced. After weeks of back-and-forth and scheduling issues made it more difficult because I work full time and someone had to be present. The tank was finally replaced two months later. I was explicitly told the replacement tank would be delivered full. It wasn't. At this point, the lack of communication, accountability, and basic competence is unacceptable. If you're looking for a propane company, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Kimlin Energy Customer Service is is despicable We have been given a scheduled pick up of our 2 tanks 6 times requesting pick up of our tanks for the past 9 months, and no one has shown up all 6 scheduled times. Spoke with several reps last one was KIM, guaranteed they would be there to pick them up, again no show. Reason i suspect we have automatic delivery they just filled the 2 tanks $550.00 we paid them what we owed then we switched to a different company. When Kimlin comes to pick up the tanks they MUST reimburse us our money paid for the Propane $550 dollars they owe us. So i suspect they this is why they are NOT PICKING UP THEIR TANKS. Why did we switch we pay our Bills to Kimlin and have a contract for auto delivery and Kimlin caused us to run out of propane in the middle of winter 3 times last year ..very cold in my home with children and Kimlin took 2 days to come to fill the tanks. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE who ever you talk to not pleasant very defensive and derogatory. KIMLIN is now withholding my money by not picking up their tanks that are FULL of Propane. I will be taking them the small claims court due to taking over 9 months to pick up their tanks and withholding money owed to us. read more

I would strongly advise anyone considering Kimlin Energy to look elsewhere. Shortly after my mother passed away, I called simply to ask when her next propane delivery was. I was on her account and paying her bill. The moment I informed them of her death, everything changed. The funny part is if I never called to ask, they would have never known she passed away and this nightmare wouldn't have happened. I was told I had to sign a new contract immediately--either under my name or "the estate," even though I explained there was no estate and we didn't yet know what we were doing with the house. They claimed they would "pull the tanks" because they were a liability, and they proceeded to send me daily emails for over a week, plus texts and calls, pressuring me into signing. While grieving, stressed, and concerned about the freezer full of food and frequent local power outages, I felt forced into signing a contract. They also insisted they "owned" the tanks, even though my mother had always told me she purchased them. I had no way to prove otherwise during all this chaos. When we later decided to sell the house, I emailed the office (I had told them I would not speak on the phone). Suddenly I was told there would be a fee to remove the tanks--information no one had ever mentioned before. The office rep then calculated the numbers and, amazingly, the removal charge came out to exactly the same as the remaining propane, calling it a "wash." I was also told if the new homeowner canceled, that would be free--but not me. At that point, I wrote to the owner. Instead, I got a call from someone named Alan who said he'd been hired to "clean things up." I explained, again, how inappropriate and stressful this entire experience had been during my grief. I requested the tanks be removed and a refund issued. The tanks--supposedly such a "liability" they needed to be pulled immediately--weren't scheduled for removal for five weeks, missed their first appointment, and were finally picked up only because I followed up myself. This brings us a refund which took ANOTHER MONTH to process. I was told the check was cut on 11/26 and mailed. It didn't arrive until 12/9, with a check dated 12/4 and postmarked 12/6. Worst of all? The check wasn't even signed. I was then promised a new check would be delivered personally. At this point, it's almost comical how much time and emotional energy I've wasted. After everything I've experienced--the pressure, misinformation, lack of compassion, conflicting dates, sloppy follow-through, and finally an unsigned refund check--I will never use this company again and if you are using them, I strongly urge you to look for another provider. They've lost me as a customer for my own home as well. This entire process was far more exhausting than the refund was worth, and I am genuinely shocked that a company can treat a grieving family this way. read more

Kimlin energy offered a prebuy on propane for the season,I paid about $1500 prepaid for a suposed savings , I used about half of the prepaid propane that season. They then charged me $600 to RESTOCK the propane I never used. Then an additional $200 charge for not using enough propane per tank. I have two tanks. The contract I signed had the cost, and lwo use penalty on page 2. The fee of $2.00 per gallon of unused propne was on page 11 of a 18 page contract. I had thier tanks removed they want to charge me $221 for removing thier tanks. Stay away from Kimlin Energy. read more

From my first phone call to the installation of our new tanks, the level of customer service I received was above and beyond my expectations. From the amazing women in the office who helped us set up our contract to the gentlemen who installed our new tank, we cannot thank you enough. Kimlin worked with us to get an amazing rate; they explained that the contracts run from May to May to get us the best rate for our propane. Then they charged me $100.00 for not using enough per tank. Then charged me $225.00 to pickup thier empty tanks. I didn't save any money did I. They suck it . Less than zero. I called to ask that my new gas stove be converted to propane. I already had the conversion kit. I was quoted $138 for the service and $50 something for the dispatch, the latter charge already being BS Mountain to begin with...there was no emergency, or short notice. Anyway, around $190 sounded reasonable. Days later, the dude arrives, spends exactly one hour in my kitchen converting the stove, and leaves. I then get a bill for $367. How, exactly, did it double? Oh, they had plenty of their usual reasons for padding, including "if the installation was more than 1 minute over an hour, we charge an extra half hour." However, I was standing right there, and he was not there for over an hour. Stay away from this company! I have never seen a group more determined to self destruct from greed and outright misrepresentation. Btw, months ago, I told them they could no longer use my credit card to charge for propane I did not order, but they bizarrely took our arrangement ("I will call when I need more propane and pay at that time") to mean they could keep delivering more propane when I didn't want any, delivering half a tank without consulting me first. "Oh, " they said, when confronted. "Automatic payment being disabled doesn't mean automatic delivery will cease." Stop playing games, Kimlin Propane! This is not the company you want to work with! We were talked into doing a pre-buy for a lot of fuel at recommended numbers by Kimlin. We didn't come close to using the amount they recommended. We were told toward the end of the year to "use it or loose it". How do you use up propane? So we lost it. We had 4 locations with Kimlin. We asked them to come take away their tanks. The tanks still had a lot of propane in them. They had the nerve to send us a bill for the removal of the tanks and a fee for having propane in them. They took my annual deposit for their tank, then told me they were no longer servicing my tank size. I switched companies immediately and then waited for weeks to have them retrieve the tank and months for them to refund at a rate that I was unable to argue because it was bundled with the propane I had used. I can say only that the refund was a good deal less than I had anticipated. They used to be a highly reliable mom n pop outfit. They are now apparently run by someone with an MBA and no heart. read more

Kimlin sent me a bill on 9/4-it's not even over 30 days and they are calling with a nasty attitude saying I have an "overdue balance." Now they want to charge 5 $ to call the office for an order, 5$ to get a paper bill and a 4% credit card surcharge! Worst energy delivery company ever but to try to get out of using them they charge outrageous disconnect and tanks pick up fees. luckily I only use them for cooking and I hate to cook. used to be a great company 15 years ago-don't know what happened but wow-are there any nice people working the phones over there??? read more

I posted about 2 years ago with an incident that we had with Kimlin Propane. That incident was not resolved in my favor after they locked our tanks regarding a missed payment that we did not realize we had missed. We tried to explain our end of the confusion and acknowledged that we owed them money. They locked our tanks within days of those conversations - even with the understanding that we were going to pay them. We incurred additional expenses for unlocking the tanks and other random fees. In October of 2024, we made the switch to Ulster Energy. They have been AMAZING! When I called Kimlin in October, I let them know that we had switched and that they could pick up their 3 tanks. They said there would be a fee (about $300) for them to remove the tanks. The representative said they would remove them in about 2 weeks. I requested that they remove my bank card information from their system because the card was only on file so that we could have auto pay. Since we were not going to be purchasing propane from them any longer - I did not want my card on file. I requested a bill or invoice. 6 months later - I called to see if they were still planning on picking up the tanks. I was told that they do not do that in the winter because they are busy filling people's tanks with propane. I explained that I had been told by a rep in mid-October that the tanks would be picked up by the end of October. I was told that that rep should have never told me that and that they would listen to the recorded call. I added that winter doesn't start until December 21st and that we had actually had a very mild winter. The rep said she would place us on the priority list for pick up. Fast forward 1 more month. I called and spoke to a 3rd rep. She said that she saw that we were on the priority list and that she would make a note to prioritize us again. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She finally gave me the first name of a supervisor and that person's email address. I sent them an email - no response. 2 days later the tanks got picked up. I got an invoice in my email. 2 days later I saw that Kimlin had gone ahead and used my card on file (the one that I directed them to remove) and charged my account $314.49. I called my bank and had to file a claim because the charge was unauthorized. I have emailed the supervisor again and an automated response says that they are out of the office for a week. Our experience with Kimlin has been extremely frustrating. I have no recourse because it is my word against the words of the rep that I spoke to in October and I do not have access to the recorded conversation. I highly recommend Ulster Energy and I would strongly discourage using Kimlin Propane. I was very clear with the rep in October and she promised that the card would be removed from the account. As a customer, it is my right to decide how I will pay the removal fee - cash, a check, a credit card. Kimlin did not honor the verbal agreement between the rep and myself. Very frustrating and disappointing. The second representative and the third representative that I spoke with were particularly rude and did not seem at all interested in working with me and/or speaking to me in a manner that was conducive to anything remotely close to quality customer service. read more

When you finally have enough and get rid of them, they won't timely pick up their tank and seem think that they're entitled to store it in your property for months on end and continue to make promises to pick it up that they break. When I cancelled in the middle of December, they said it would be locked up by the middle of January. In the middle of January, they did not pick it up, I called again and was told it would be picked up by February 21. I called again on February 23, and they told me they were too busy and would pick it up within two weeks. They seem to feel that they are entitled to free storage for as long as they want. If they don't have enough personnel to handle their customers and pick up their property, they should hire more. It is not my responsibility to store their property indefinitely, regardless of what excuses they make. I asked to speak to the owner, and was told he was "off site"... so much for the small family run business they claim. read more

My experience with Kimlin is brief, miserable, and consistent with every bad review (aka authentic review) you will find. I moved into a rental in February, the middle of an upstate NY winter. Obviously, I didn't shop around for propane providers, but instead transferred the already existing service to my name. The house I'm renting is quite small. It is around 750 sq ft at most. Still, though I'd already paid for a propane delivery (which I'd somehow not noticed though my wife and I both work from home) in March, another delivery occurred (again with incredible stealth) and was charged, this time in 2 charges over 3 days in excess of $1300. I was truly astonished, and when I reached out to them to kindly inquire how this was possible, how my tanks could possibly hold enough propane to cost that much, no one was in the office who could help. This was a Thursday in May, and I was told someone would get back to me on Monday. I waited, and was told a mistake had been made. They had accidentally charged me market rate rather than the "locked in good rate" I was promised as long as I agreed to automatic deliveries and automatic bank charges. I did not yet know this, but have since discovered, market rate was never anywhere near the $6.20 they charged. In fact, all winter long, market rate was lower than the $2.45 they charged as their "locked in good rate." Once I found out that their rates are not competitive, I received another surprise charge in JUNE, and that there are MANY other services in this area to choose from, I let them know I'll be leaving. I was informed that they charge a fee to remove the tanks, separate fees for each actually, as well as a restocking fee. To get them to leave, I'll owe another $300+ for tanks and a service I never selected. As it turns out, this is not an industry standard practice. It's just another way for them to over charge their dissatisfied customers. They are shady. They are evasive, rude, and unethical. Do not use Kimlin. read more

this is the absolute worst business it's a shame. so sorry I bought my home and was stuck with this company. they are extremely rude when you call, I have babies and they tell you they'll deliver when they deliver. over a week at a time and they don't show up but will be at the next house. myself and neighbors have reported them to better business many times. they wait for you to run out of fuel to come so they can charge extra for emergency or a leak check. Empire DVC55SPXPLP 55,000 Btu Direct Vent Counterflow Wall Furnace - Propane (LP) I purchased and they installed the above heater on March 5, 2020 from Kimlin Propane in Gardiner, NY. The heater was used for 2 winters. In June 2023, it was starting up and shuting off. Kimlin service guy came and without diagnostics, cleaning it or checking the thermostat said it needed a new pilot and thermocouple, then left. I got a bill from Kimlin for $455.58 for installed parts and service in July but no one was ever there. They returned on Sept. 21, 2023. The original service guy was fired for lying. I told Kimlin not to install any parts without a thorough diagnostics. They sent a guy who insisted on istalling the thermocouple and the new pilot. The heater started up and ran for about 15 minutes and then shut off again. The tech then told me it needs more parts....a Limit Switch and a Fan Switch. He returned two weeks later on October 4th to install more parts... the heater still was not working !! The charges with parts and services came to $809.00 !! I believed they were ripping me off badly. The service guy then felt bad and admitted he never worked on a propane wall heater and didnt know how to fix it !! The audacity of these theives. When I spoke to the customer service manager to complain, she was nasty and told me there would be no refunds for not fixing the heater. threatened to come take their propane tank, which I told her was owned by me and she hung up on me. They all talked to me like I am an idiot. I called the Empire manufacturer. Empire said it was ridiculous and offered to trouble shoot over the phone with Kimlin. Kimlin refused. They finally sent a Service tech Supervisor that told me the problem was a cracked condensor. This was the fourth service call and 3 service techs later and four months later. The part was expensive he told me, $275 plus shipping, $500 installation, at least 4 hours labor.!! I already had spent $800 for nothing. I was paying for a new unit that was still broken. This is outrageous and should never have occurred. I researched the cost of the Pilot and thermocouple and it came to $70 plus tax. They charged me for shipping separately for the parts for $182.00. for the first install $455. They charged me another $288 to put these switches in. The two parts cost $37 and they are charging me $125 for these parts. All service calls were added $59 then taxes. This heater is brand new. Does this sound right to you. Then Kimlin Supervisor said he would install the combustion chamber and make an adjustment to the other incorrect part installation costs. He lied. There was no refund given ever. He also tried to charge me $350 for the combustion chamber which Empire Company told me was a free warranteed part. Empire told me the labor is under 2 hours. Empire then sent the part to me direct for free. I hired another Heating company to install it and got far away from Kimlin THIEVES and LIARS. Kimlin refused to send me detailed invoices because they knew they were upcharging parts by 400% and they did not put any of their incorrect diagnosis in writing. I was able to go to my Barclay credit card for help requesting a CHARGE BACK refund for FRAUD and THEFT by Kimlin. I won the case and proved that I had all the written correspondence to Kimlin and to Empire company. I also proved I got the combustion chamber free. Kimlin will not quote in writing because they are thieves. They just want your credit card to bang you. I had to close that credit card for fraud. They also never fixed the Heater at all. This went on from June to October 2023. I read another complaint on this page saying the same thing...about Kimlin not fixing a water heater and they just kept charging for parts and service calls and labor. Now it is April 3rd, 2024. Yesterday, I received an email bill from Kimlin for the original $455.58 invoice dated June 2023 and another $9.11 'LATE FEE" added for non payment since they had the credit card payments reversed. They have indicated that I would be incurring late fees and interest each month until I pay it..... all for services not rendered by them. I will now report them to the Attorney General of their district in New York for fraud, theft, lying, incompetance and now... harrassment added to it. This is OUTRAGEOUS CORRUPTION. Under no circumstances should you use this company! They will make you sign a long-term contract with a teaser price upfront, and then they make up their profits over the course of the contract. Prices kept rising, even though I was told I had a locked in price. When I asked about why my rate kept rising, they said they never guaranteed a price. I was guaranteed a rate of 2.99 a gallon for the entire heating season, only to have my rate jump to 3.49 and even 3.69 per gallon immediately after the first delivery of the season. They never call you back and are very confrontational. Extremely nasty people to work with who don't care about their customers at all. They will lie to get you to sign their contract, and then proceed to screw you every way they can to get every last cent they can from their customers. My advice would be to stay far away from this company, as there are better, more reliable, and more affordable providers out there. read more

People considering Kimlin as their home/commercial energy provider should know this, so I will be brief. I signed on with Kimlin last year for my propane. I also need kerosene, so I had Kimlin replace my tank, and worked on a contract for kerosene delivery in June. After several iterations, we finally agreed on a contract. The contract called for an initial delivery price of $4.99/gallon. However they listed a delivery time frame of only a week from the current date. I asked the individual doing the contract (Cristina) that I apparently needed to have delivery right away. She told me that Kimlin did not have any kerosene at that time, and would not have it until the fall. I suggested that the contract date should be modified, and was told that that would not be necessary, and Kimlin would never alter the contract price due to the fact that they were out of product. Trusting "Cristina", and not wanting to redo the agreement, I thought she was being honest with me. I still do. Huge mistake. Trust no one, and get everything in writing. I called Kimlin back in November for a kerosene delivery and was told that the price was now $7.99. After explaining what had happened during the contract process, I fell on very unsympathetic ears, and basically told, "tough luck", as they jumped all over the date on the contract, making me think that this bait and switch was a carefully orchestrated scam that Kimlin runs on a consistent basis. Impressive if you think about it. I once heard some say, "Honesty struggles to recognize dishonesty", and that fits here. I then contacted Cristina, and she apologized profusely for the error, tried to get the pricing correct, but could only get it to $6.99/gallon, making me think of another saying, about "Don't feed me crap . . . " Cristina apparently did not have authority to make and enforce contract terms. I was told that the price in November was now much more expensive. Knowing the industry, Kimlin purchases their energy contracts off the futures market, and they profit from the margin of difference between what they buy kerosene/propane from the energy futures market, and what they can sell it to their customers. They've paid prices for kerosene at much lower prices than the $4.99 they first offered. At this time, they overcharge customers in the winter, due to the demand. They could certainly afford to make this situation right, they simply choose not to. I was silly enough not to insist on modifying the delivery date, so they have me based on the current contract language, even though they manipulated the situation to charge me $3.00 more per gallon, Upset, but wanting to give Kimlin every chance to make this obvious injustice right, I wrote a long letter to owner, Max Kimlin explaining the situation in mid-December. After one month, crickets. He apparently is not concerned with his, or his company's reputation. I really hate to have to go through social media to air a grievance, but I have little choice, and it is extremely important for all consumers to understand the company they either deal with, or considering, before making a decision. Kimlin is a duplicitous, corrupt, enterprise, and I simply feel it is extremely important to make honest homeowners aware of this. read more

I have had a propane tank with Kimlin for many years at a rental house. Tenant moved out. I was considering moving back and called to find out price per gallon to fill the tank. First customer service person had no clue and said she'd get back to me. That person never did. So I called again and got a different customer service agent and was told that she had to review my service record and couldn't tell me at that time. I hadn't lived there for more than 3 years I explained. I felt that 1. I was being shoved around 2. Something fishy was happening when they couldn't tell me immediately what it would cost to refill the tank. I asked for a price to remove their tank and was told $129.99. I said it's registering empty and they should remove it. Fast forward I see the tank is gone. I get the bill...for $289.12. Charged a recovery fee and a pump off fee when their gage read empty. Very unpleasant, unprofessional and definitely cannot recommend. I am in the service industry ...I know what it takes to provide good service...I did not receive it from Kimlin. read more

DONT under any circumstances buy a FURNACE from them. I made that mistake . They started making "repair" calls on the brand new unit within a few weeks of installation. Now they inform me (after at least 30 repair visits on the new unit) which still doesn't work...that the warranty is up and I should deal directly with the manufacturer or they'll start charging for the repair visits !! The folks who work there and the men who have made the repairs are all polite and professional. But the company itself is a sham ! I'm so regretful I didn;'t go with another company. All the critical comments you are reading below are (sadly) true. And do NOT have any conversations with them that are not writing. Because they own one of our tanks, we looked to them first (despite warnings from friends). Not only are their prices higher than others (which we researched after) they want to short change your first fill (which is the best price you are going to get for the ENTIRE THREE YEAR CONTRACT they get you into). I had a verbal conversation with someone there to agree that the first fill I would call to make sure we maximized to offset the higher costs. They just showed up regardless. I call them and what a crap show. They will f@ck you and agree on phone but get amnesia after - and the throw the contract in your face with no desire to resolve your concern. Kimlin took 5-months to diagnose an issue with my hot water which took Kosco a 5-minute call to do the same. They charged me for service calls during which the man said he does not work on propane and sent another serviceman, I got charged for both. Then I got charged for each misdiagnosis, I spent over $400 on labor/ parts, hours of phone calls and service calls, to still not fix the problem until Kosco confirmed the last diagnosis in 5 minutes. 5 months of losing hot water and They're solution was to remove the service fee but they will not provide service to my account. I am happy to not use their service when they want to charge $400 for a $40 expansion tank. They still have not gotten the job done 5 months later. if I could give them zero points, I would. Last year, despite being on automatic delivery, I ran out of propane 3x and several more times where I had to call to ask them to come out because I was getting low. It seems many other customers have had the same issue. They finally corrected this by placing a meter at the unit to tell them when to come out. Customer service was rude, and took several different people to finally get this straightened out, and refunded on emergency calls when my propane heat ran out in mid-winter (despite having prepaid and on automatic delivery.) read more

We signed a fixed price agreement to purchase fuel oil and propane from Kimlin Energy Services in August of 2021. The long and short of it is they began hitting us with Environmental Compliance Fees which were not part of the agreement, started charging us rates well beyond the contracted rates, eventually stopped delivering, tried to bill us back for the unused portion of the contracted quantities even though it had not reached the term of the agreement, held our money for months until we badgered them sufficiently to refund us most of it, and still owe us funds that did not get refunded. I believe if you do a search of social media you will find this is a relatively common practice of this company. They regularly make up extra charges or fees, do not honor agreements, and when confronted with this do not return calls or other communications. read more

Absolute trash company, don't waste your time or money! I moved in to this area about a month ago and my land lord had a Kimlin tank here. I called to set up an account with them, it took two weeks from start to finish! This is with a tank here on the property, who knows how long it might of taken if they needed to install one. I called every day for two weeks letting them know that I needed the propane tank unlocked because I have a toddler at home and Mcdonalds and other fast food is not cheap or healthy for a toddler! What really upset me tho was the fact I was being promised call backs after call backs and I was the one having rot call them everyday... At that moment I was going to write this a review for them but decided not to after all what's two weeks without being able to cook right? Its been a month now from the day they unlocked the tank and checked for gas leaks... Out of nowhere I have a charge on my card for $350 dollars from Kimlin. I thought it was a mistake so I called and they told me that its for propane delivery and that my account is on auto pay that I signed the e contract stating that. Also on that e contract tho I signed to only have propane delivered when I call and ask them to deliver it as I work out of state and am not home all the time. Being that the other option was a monthly delivery service. I was told that the reason I am being charged for a full tank of propane is that when they unlocked the tank it was full because the previous tenant had gotten a delivery and not used the propane. Soooo the previous tenant paid for the propane and now I'm being charged for it also a month later! After arguing on the phone on the fact that I did not solicit propane from them I was told that they would review the account and call me back. sure enough no call back no nothing... For anyone in the Rosendale/New Paltz area I'd love to recommend NOT using Kimlin for your energy needs. Why? - horrible customer service, inconsistent deliveries, and general shitty crappy service - even when you sign up for refill service they forget and you have to fight them to return your money when you lose heat in the middle of winter and they have to make a weekend/evening call so your pipes don't freeze (happened at least twice in a year) -you have to hound them to answer emails and send you refund checks -when they finally send refund checks they send it to the address you no longer live at (despite you giving them a new address) then claim if you want them to send another check tell you you'd be responsible for paying the check cancellation fee. read more

Do not use Kimlin. If you have their service then I suggest you leave. Their goal is to get the customers to pay as many fees as possible. Any chance they get they will hit you with fees and not wave them. If you call them they are just a rude bunch that act like they don't care if you leave them. I am still waiting since May 21st for the credit due to me to be issued. I initially talked to to Melissa on that date and it clearly sounded like it would be handled promptly once she got the approval from here boss. Well... nothing happened for almost a month so on June 15th I talked to Carol who said that they were still waiting for authorization to issue the credit check to me. So here is am July 12th and still nothing.... no credit refund check in my hand. Over the last 40 years I have done business with KOSCO, ACE, Central Hudson and a number of other excellent service providers and Never Never had a problem like this getting my money back..... I am going to soon contact some public officials to see if my situation has happened to others, and see if business practices have been violated by this kind of conduct. Anyone else care to comment ? Bf hit line with backhoe and Kimlin was out here in less than an hour. I am very impressed since the propane only runs a standby generator and Viking stove so it was not a dire emergency. Nonetheless they were here much more quickly than I would ever had guessed. I have never had a problem with Kimlin and even had Max (?) here to consult on bigger tank. I like them a lot but with all the huge corporate suppliers I suspect they'll be gobbled up like so many other small provider. Scale economies in a commodity business I'm afraid... read more

For the most part, I was happy with Kimlin's service. What I wasn't happy with was how every year they would jack up their propane prices way beyond market value. I was told that it's like your cable bill. The longer you're a customer, the more you'll pay. New customers get the steepest discounts. I got tired of bargaining with them every year. This year they quoted me over $5 a gallon. What a joke. I'm locked in with my new provider (who doesn't play those games) for less than $4 a gallon. Bye Kimlin. read more

Just an addendum to my earlier post about not getting my refund. I just received my check from the company

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Just moved to NP, called Wednesday of the week prior to have them unlock our full Propane tank for the apartment. Customer service was absolutely the RUDEST! They refused and charged me through the nose for the service and told me I needed to sign the contract before someone could come out here. I sent it back to them the next day (Thursday, NYE) in the morning and never heard back. They told me they would call and Friday was New Years Day so they were closed. Now it's Sunday of the same week and I still haven't had a hot meal in my home. Thank god for my portable camp stove so we can at least have hot water to boil. I wish I had known there were other options than this company! read more

I was quoted a price for propane delivery by Kimlin on the telephone. I accepted their price. To get propane delivery Kimlin demanded I sign a 3-year contract with a higher price than quoted to me by telephone and agree to various penalities and stipulations all in favor of Kimlin. I said I would accept the higher price and all of Kimlin's contact stipulations if Kimlin would just reduce the length of the contract to two years. Kimlin responded by sending me a terse email canceling the offer of the 3-year contract. I received no apology, explanation, or any other response after that cancellation from Kimlin. I recommend those seeking propane delivery avoid Kimlin Energy Servies. read more
