As a business owner, my company has held Executive Luncheons here that included a sit down lunch in a private room with A/V services and it was very well done and the room was fabulous. Our clients/prospects were pretty impressed by the location. There is easy parking right in the Cambridgeside Galleria. In addition, I have gone here often for drinks, lunch and dinners. Bambara - the restaurant in the building is a nice addition. I also was the lucky bidder at the Fenway Women's Dinner for a night here which allowed me to sample their rooms - very nice - leopard prints, reds, oranges, very lush and nicely appointed. I would recommend this hotel for those business travelers and also for those looking for a romantic getaway close to everything. read more

Loved our romantic overnight getaway at the Hotel Marlowe. The staff were warm, friendly, and efficient with check-in/check-out. Conceirge helped with directions and after-dinner drink location suggestions. We also enjoyed a tasty Cote-du-Rhone at the evening wine hour in the lobby. The parking garage is a bit confusing, given that it's connected to the Cambridge Galleria. But that is something I can get over. The lobby is full of dark woods and geometric shapes with royal blue and cherry red. Not too much. The bed. Oh so comfortable. My BF and I talked about wanting something as comfortable as that bed in our own home. Perfect pillow top -- if that's what you like. Otherwise, the room was small without being tiny. Clean. VERY CLEAN. (I look for that). We were also given the option of a room near or far from the elevator -- we went with the quiet corner room. It was perfect. The water pressure in the shower was not the strongest -- but that's not a deal breaker for me. We were lucky to have a room facing the Charles River and the downtown skyline. Love seeing the Tobin Bridge all lit at night. We walked most places once we arrived -- about 15 minutes by foot to the Red Line in Kendall Square and 10 or so to the Green Line near the Science Museum. If you join their loyalty program, you get free access to WiFi and the program's free to join. I would happily go back and enjoy another night(s). read more

We stay here because it's pet-friendly, and wow, the fact that it is nicely appointed and has great service really helps also. Free coffee and tea in the morning and free wine in the afternoon we arrived. I'm not sure if they do the wine thing every day. It's part of the Kimpton family, what's not to love!? I did have few minor complaints but they were mostly related to the things outside the hotel. The decor of the hotel is beautiful with spacious rooms and generous amenities. I'm not a huge fan of animal print but the leopard carpet in the rooms works in these rooms. They have complimentary cocktail and wine hours in the lobby which is a nice touch. The service is very friendly and accommodating. I was a little disappointed that unlike some of the other Kimptons, there is no car service or airport shuttle. The biggest negative quality for me is the location. It's not terrible but it's certainly not the most convenient. It's a painful walk to the nearest train station which is Lechmere and the drive is hectic. Even though it's located right across the river from downtown, the traffic is terrible and the parking situation is tricky unless you valet. It is located directly next to the Cambridgeside Galleria which is nothing special. I actually got the room with rewards points but from what I've seen, the rates can be a pretty good deal. They are extremely pet friendly so it made me wish that I had my Corgi with me to indulge her! In the end, I'd definitely would return to the Hotel Marlowe. The Kimpton service is always remarkable and the hotels are always beautiful. read more

Perfectly located by the mall! Great staff! Nice bedding and they even have bathrobes. One star less than 5 because the robes have this super cheesy tiger and leopard pattern on them. It sort of matches the equally eccentric lamps made with white head sculptures. It's a luxury hotel. The service is impeccable. The staff at the front desk are extremely helpful and friendly and offer a free glass of wine for every night of your stay. The rooms are spacious and clean, as should be expected, and the free (with a free Kimpton loyalty program account) Wifi in the rooms is fast (I tested up to 10 Mbps). The location is pretty good (next to a T Green Line stop and close to a Red Line stop). read more

This place is pretty dang good. For one, the price relative to other nice hotels in Boston is quite tolerable. 150 approximately all taxes included is a nice deal for a comfortable room. The room, as some people have said, could be considered small. But the bed's nice and big, and the TV is tolerable, so I'm happy. Also free wifi. The decorations are gaudy as all hell, which I find appealing. My girl is a big leopard print and gaudy design fan, so this amuses her. If she's happy I'm happy! The service is AMUSINGLY on target. We checked in around 4, got settled and then went out for dinner and wandering around the mall. When we got back to our room around 9, the bed was remade, there were mints on the pillow, the curtains had been drawn, and mood music had been playing. Also, the lights were dimmed. Hilarious and appropriate, thanks for setting the mood for me guys! They offer valet parking for about 8 bucks (in addition to the 20 it costs to park) and have doggy treats for your pets. Didn't use either of those services, but it's cool to have. Also from 5 to 6 they offer free wine and beer in the lounge. Again didn't use that, but neat to have! The connection to the Bambara restaurant should be a huge plus though, go there, eat, drink, be merry, and walk back to your room. Also, Bambara does the room service. Sweet. Little bit surprised there is no parking offered, it's instead 20 bucks a night. I'd figure they can at least offer free parking. Also, prices are outrageous for room service and drinks, but that seems to be a hotel norm. All in all, 4 stars. Nothing absolutely OMG special other than Bambara next door. But definitely good and I'd come back. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Marlowe on NYE during the pandemic. Despite this, we felt extremely safe in the hotel thanks to all the considerations they made! There is plexiglass in the lobby, guests are encouraged to not share an elevator, and unnecessary shared items have been removed from the room. Additionally, the view was incredible, bed was super comfy, the room was beautifully appointed, and the jetted tub in the executive suite was such a treat for our night in! We will definitely be back, and look forward to enjoying the amenities that were closed this time around! read more

Great venue. I was there for my cousin's wedding and and the event space was classically beautiful and spacious. Also, the rooms were very well decorated with state of the art furniture and extremely clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's connected to a shopping mall which you can roam around and their food court is pretty decent. It's also not that far from the city of Boston (15 min cab ride) and close to public transportation. Stayed here for one night for a quick business trip. I *should* have been horribly jet lagged the next day, but the fantastic bedding helped me fall asleep right away--and I generally have issues falling asleep quickly! The mattress firmness, the fluffiness of the pillows, the high thread count sheets: perfect. And extra props to the room's AC actually letting you set it below 68 degrees--I cannot sleep well in a warm room. The front desk service is as helpful and polite as you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. The wine reception in the late afternoon is a very nice touch as well! read more

I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel while visiting Boston to drop my son on off for college. We had taken the red eye flight from California to Boston and arrived around 6AM. Most hotel check in occurs at 3pm. I phoned up to see if I could check in early and Letecia said yes because they had a room available that it would be possible. Once I arrived Letecia helped me check in. Her customer service was courteous, kind, efficient and friendly. She made me feel welcome at their hotel. The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is within walking distance to the Museum of Science and a very nice mall that is behind the hotel. Only took 3 minutes to walk to the Cambridge Side mall. Also, the Charles River Boats too. Location is great. The only things that I would have liked in the hotel is free breakfast and room darkening curtains. If you are an early riser this is no problem, but if you like to sleep in it could be a problem because their curtains are sheer material and the darker part of the curtains don't completely close so sunlight gets in the room quite early. The bed was comfortable, fresh and clean. There is a nice gym on the 8th floor. Five stars for the great service and location. read more

We came to Hotel Marlowe for a romantic night on the other side of the river and had a great time. Totally dug the leopard print patterns (and robes!) and hot pink lounge chair. Took advantage of the free wine and beer in the lobby, and had a great meal at Bambara. The bed was insanely comfortable and huge and the bathroom was super clean. Two things that were not so hot: 1. I had to park in the Cambridgeside Galleria parking lot overnight. Nothing happened to my car, but it felt strange and unsafe to leave it there. 2. The breakfast was pretty terrible and SLOW. Really, though, the important things (general service, decor, cleanliness, amenities) were spot on and worth every penny. read more

Hotel Marlowe was my first Kimpton experience, and it was fabulous. My boyfriend and I arrived fresh of the red eye from Seattle at 8am, and the magical front desk staff whisked us into an amazing room seven hours before check-in -- which pretty much made my life. The staff is very helpful and personable. Though the rooms are pricey, they are worth it. Upon opening the door I felt the need to jump on the colossal bed like a ten year old. We also ordered room service in our awesome leopard robes. Ah, and what a difference free wifi can make in a hotel experience. The one and only downside is that the hotel is not super close to anything fun and Boston-y. This, however is totally compensated by its proximity to a T station. Stay at a Kimpton, you will not regret it. In fact, you moght just become addicted! read more

My husband and I are Kimpton fans so we try to visit as many of their hotels as possible. So on our anniversary, we decided to stay at one of the local ones. Being from the area, I can't believe I didn't realize that the Hotel Marlowe is attached to the Cambridgeside Galleria. You have to walk through the parking garage to get to the mall but still it's attached and that is pretty cool. Our check-in went really well. Plenty of friendly people working and we were upgraded because we are In Touch members. They also threw in a coupon for 2 minibar items - what a nice touch. Our room was nice. Typical Kimpton animal prints and funky mirrors. Our city view though was pretty funny. The hotel only has 8 floors so the city is really just the Zachim bridge. Maybe if you were coming into town it would be more notable. The bed was comfy, though I agree with an earlier reviewer that it didn't stand out as one of the nicer ones in a luxury chain. Sheets were soft but crisp and the shampoo/conditioner were Aveda mint - really nice! Checking out, we mentioned it was our anniversary and they said next time to tell someone because they would have sent up champagne. What a great hotel!! read more

This is an upscale boutique hotel in Cambridge. I stayed here for a symposium. Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly. I strongly suggest you join their club program as it gets you a $10 mini bar credit, free wifi and a newspaper. My room was small but nice. A king size bed, dresser and desk. Nice linens and pillows. The room appeared clean and tidy. The decor was nice. It didn't stand out. The hotel is oddly shaped and you travel down some angle hallways. My room overlooked the courtyard circle. Downside were te roof spot lights pointing down on the arriving guests. Even with the shoes drawn it was too bright. The bathroom was also nice. I thought their towels small and cheap and out of place compared to the image. My only problem was the toilet. It ran constantly. I asked for it to be fixed. They sent someone to look buy they were but qualified to repair it. They said the next day it would be fixed. It wasn't. I asked the desk at the end I the day ad they said it was too late. So another night with a loud running toilet. Not to mention the wasted water. I liked the hotel and had a pleasant stay but for the price I expected more. The conference facility was decent. I wish the chairs are more ergonomic. All Conferences should work on this. Overall I was happy with my stay, but would not seek to stay here if paying myself. read more

My first night, I asked about coffee makers and tea, and I was delivered a tray with a Keurig and tea kettle, along with all kinds of coffees, teas, sugars and creamers. This was gratis. Very nice hotel, great staff and close to whatever you need. The front desk employee was welcoming and accommodating, the doormen/valet employees are polite and fast. They offer valet or self park for very reasonable prices. The room was spacious and clean. The only downside is that the water pressure in the shower sometimes fluctuates, but it's not the end of the world. The bar/restaurant is nice and the servers were quick. The drinks and food were reasonably priced and tasted great. I would recommend this location to friends/family if they were staying in the area. read more

Typical of a Marlowe/Kimpton style, things like wild sheets and drapes in the room. Especially fun are the leopard skin patterned robes! Really friendly/responsive staff, convenient to the shopping mall next door. My only issue is that the two beds in my room are full sized, not queen, so a bit cramped. I've stayed here twice and will do so again. Don't stay in room 804 though, it is right next to the 24 fitness room and you can hear people running on the treadmill when you are trying to sleep. read more

Sadly I had to take away one star for one unfortunate issue at Hotel Marlowe on my most recent stay. My family and I were looking forward to breakfast this morning at our hotel restaurant but unfortunately the front desk informs us that "they close at 10AM". I look at my watch and it's exactly 10:00. My expectation was that the front desk would say "hey, no problem, I will ask them if they can accommodate you" or "how about I set you up with room service". Nope, they suggest we go across the street in the pouring rain and get this, to a COMPETING hotel for our breakfast. My wife and son then comment that maybe we should stay here the next time we're in Boston because it's such a nice hotel. Personally I've never heard of a business sending someone to the competition and they really should have accommodated us for breakfast (kitchen and wait staff are there through lunch anyway). My only other comment which they haven't fixed since my first review is the phone system when calling for room service. I'm guessing they only have one line, so most times you call room service, says "busy w other customers please hang up and call front desk", then you call front desk and they say "will put you thru to room service" and you are literally in an endless loop of simply trying to get some food. Management: are you listening, because this is such a simple fix and is VERY frustrating for your customers. read more

We booked a stay here a few weeks in advance and since Ive had issues in the past with hotels over booking i called and made sure we were good to go and advised them of check in times. When we got there Kareem told me they overbooked and had no double queen rooms available even tho we had prepaid for the room for the 4 of us. He told us he couldn't kick somebody out of their room and we had no options but to get a 1 king room with 1 "roll out bed"We explained the situation and he told us he wasn't forcing us to stay there after we had already paid and had nowhere else to go as we were not near our home. He then told us he could give us a "rollout" bed since there was only one bed in the room. We advised him we didn't know what he meant. During this entire inconvenience he just kept staring at us and laughing at us. He didn't care if we stayed there or slept on the street. He didn't want to accommodate us or let us talk to the manager. We ended up spending 20-30 min trying to get the situation resolved. For such a nice hotel in such a nice area including the amount we spent for 1 night this service was horrible. There was no notice ahead of time. We felt very disrespected by kareem. Ive stayed in a lot worse hotels and have gotten much better service than that. read more

The place it's pretty awesome, the rooms on the 5th floor are somewhat tiny, but it is a boutique hotel to it is to be expected. The decor is great and the common rooms are pretty neat. A funny cool thing is they have leopard and tiger colored bathrobes for lounging around your room. read more

Thin walls and bad manager remark After a miserable night of hearing partying thru thin walls -- was offered choice of three options as a compensation. Picked one and night manager said ok but would have to clear w "manager". When I went in am to confirm, said day manager said "her night desk clerk DID NOT say that" essentially accusing me of a lie. I thought that was uncalled for esp since everything I told her was true. They comped my breakfast but what bothered me most was the above manager comment. She did apologize though. All to say, would not return. Overrated room -- basically a holiday inn express or Hampton inn type with a few nicer pillows. Bath the same. read more

Stayed here for a five day vacation . This place is beautiful. The staff are so professional , kind and welcoming . It's worth every penny. The house keeping did an excellent job of restocking and cleaning up. The doormen always opened sorts greeted us upon arrival and every time we went to enjoy the city . This Hotel is immaculate. Hotel was fine and staff was friendly. Be careful when you stay here about billing, though. They charge a $20/day amenity fee, $10 of which can be applied to food and drink within the hotel restaurant. My bill didn't have this deducted and I had to check my bill details and follow up with the staff several times to get my bill corrected and sent to me. Just a guess - they probably do this to everyone who doesn't check their bill. read more

Found this place on a whim for a one night stay. It is a dog friendly boutique hotel. It was perfect. The rooms were clean. The welcome glass of wine was appreciated. Running into puppies can only put one in a good mood. The gym wasn't huge but decent sized, working equipment and if you prefer privacy a yoga mat is provided in your room instead. The hotel staff was friendly and self parking is located in the mall garage- the entrance after the hotel. It was easy and the elevator to the hotel was right there. I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit. read more

There is no way I would ever stay anywhere else while in Boston... It was beautful. The room was great. The beds were comfortable. The location is amazing. It seemed every night there was something going on for the guests, drinks down in the lobby, etc... and every morning gourmet coffee and hot chocolate in the beautiful guest area. They go out of their way to make you feel special on top of it being such an awesome hotel. I had a team of 15 people with me. Every staff member treated each one of us as if we were the only guest they had. They even let us do a movie and photoshoot in the lobby, let my camera man have access to all areas he wanted, and when we went sightseeing the last day, even though it was after checkout, they let us leave all our luggage and come back and pick it up after we were through on our way to the airport so we didn't have to tote it through Boston. And what other hotel will let you take Kayaks or Bikes at no charge to tour the bay or the city? Also, it is connected to the mall which made a fun way to end some of our days. I stay in a lot of hotels for both work and for ministry trips... and this hotel is truly on of the top all time favorites. read more

If i could i would live at Marlowe. I stayed for three nights before i could move in my apartment in Cambridge. There are other hotels as beautiful as this one but the entire atmosphere here is unique. So cozy, warm and inviting. The stuff is very friendly and attentive. They really pay attention to small details. There are also good connections to Boston (green line, three blocks away) and Kendall square is on your doorstep too. Cambridge galleria is pretty much in the hotel. You can find starbucks, cheescake factory and food courts inside the mall. read more

Overall it was very good. The staff were great. The room was big. Everything seemed pretty clean. I'm happy I stayed here. However, a few issues to note: -The location isn't ideal if you like walking or taking public transit. However, taking Uber/Lyft into the city was quite easy and quick. -I didn't like how the hotel room window didn't open. I really would have appreciated some fresh air. -The bathroom door swings inward and is so big that it makes using the bathroom super awkward, especially sitting on the toilet or accessing the shower. -The mattress seemed quite uncomfortable every time I lay down, but then I managed to sleep very well on it. -There was a hair in the basket containing the shower soaps and shampoos. -It's convenient that the hotel is attached to a decent shopping mall, but the path to walk there (through the basement of a parking garage) is confusing and lacking adequate signage. -It was annoying having to create an IHG account in order to get free WiFi. read more
