Pathetic excuse for a boutique hotel (and I normally like Kimpton hotels). The room was clean and the hotel was well kept, but otherwise you will never hear me recommend this hotel. The average age of the staff seemed to be about 25 years old and had no regard for manners. To start, the valet told us it would be $20/night for parking and when we checked out they charged us $35..oopsie? Saturday night we decided to check out the hotel bar for a glass of wine and the bartender was unbelievably rude!! The bar was not terribly busy and while I patiently waited for my turn at the bar he turned to me and said "you're at the bottom of the line" ... I mean, really? For no necessary reason. We went to talk to the front desk and they just laughed like it was some kind of joke. Regardless, I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. You're better off paying a few bucks more and staying at a 5* hotel where you actually get what you pay for! read more

Hotel Marlow is an exceptional hotel that I cannot believe I am just finding out about. My boyfriend and I frequent the city for over night/weekend trips and tend to stay in hotels in the center of the city so we are close to everything but parking gets costly, it's loud because of traffic, etc. We found this gem on the car ride up to Boston for our recent vacation and booked it based upon reviews and more importantly, the price! What an affordable hotel for Boston - it gives off such an eclectic vibe. Modern with a twist of wild patterns, textures and furniture. The lobby and lounge are stunning, the front desk during check out was beyond helpful as they struck up a conversation with us. They even offered us complimentary glass of wine tickets even though we arrived after the promotional window. Our check in was smooth and easy, room was incredibly clean and had leopard and zebra bathrobes!! Probably one of the most exciting things for me! :) The bed was beyond comfortable, we sunk right in after a long night out in the city and slept in the next morning without being bothered. It is close enough to the city, you're only about 2 miles away from everything and the Museum of Science is across the street. There is also a mall attached to the hotel. We forgot toothpaste, called downstairs and next thing I know, there was a knock on the door with a tube of toothpaste. We also ordered a late night room service snack - milk and cookies! You could not go wrong. I remember the bathroom being a little tight but the size of the room was great for just two people staying the night. On our next visit to Boston, we will 110% be staying at Hotel Marlow again. It is a 4 diamond AAA rated property and it holds up to it! The grounds are kept very well and there are beautiful views of the Charles River. Make sure you stay at Hotel Marlowe! read more

Stayed in Feb 08 at the Marlowe for one weekend night for our anniversary -- we had a wonderful stay. The concierge, Frank, had a bottle of wine and some chocolates waiting for us in the room, which was well-appointed (in the Pottery Barn overstuffed/plush style, if that makes any sense). The room service menu charges were astoundingly outrageous (like $14 for eggs and bacon, plus $3.50 delivery, plus tax plus mandatory 18% tip -- when's the last time you paid more than $20 for eggs over easy with bacon?) , so we went to Toscanini's for breakfast the next day... Other than the room services prices, the hotel was great, and we got a great deal through their website ($125 after tax!)... read more

Hotel Marlowe Great Hotel - right in the heart of Cambridge. Easy walking to most everything we wanted to do without a car. Subway travel is a breeze from here. The hotel itself is actually connected to a mall, so you are basically right in the heart of everything, food, shopping, so the walk is not bad at all. We also had a great view room on the 7th floor overlooking Boston, the canal, and the water. Highly recommend if you want to stay in Boston for a great adventure because staying here, you can do all you intend to do. Don't forget to take a Duck Tour too! read more

Had our wedding here a few months ago and cannot say enough great things about the hotel and staff. They were so great to work with and the hotel is so beautiful and clean. A bunch of our family and friends stayed at the hotel also and they loved it and cannot stop raving about. The customer service really stood out and far surpasses other hotels I have stayed at. It is in a convenient location, very close to the museum of science and a short train or cab ride to downtown Boston. The attached restaurant, Bambara is also very good! The hotel is dog friendly, but you would never be able to tell because it smells great and is very clean. For our wedding we worked with Hollie, and she was incredible. Cannot say enough good things about our experience. I can't wait to come back and visit soon. read more

My boyfriend and I planned a trip into Boston to see friends and I had no idea he was planning to propose. As soon as we got to the hotel we were amazed at how beautiful the lobby was and how friendly the staff was. Our room was a gorgeous two room suite complete with a gigantic jacuzzi tub. We took advantage of the complementary wine and hors d'oeuvre hour each night and were able to easily get to downtown Boston to meet our friends using the hotel's taxi stand that was never empty. What made the stay even better was the help of manager in training Georgina Heasman. She was so helpful throughout our stay and apparently helped set up rose petals, flowers and chocolate for the proposal. It was a perfect weekend! We will definitely be staying at the Marlowe the next time we are in Boston! read more

This is one of my favorite all time hotels anywhere! We stayed their last night for a quick last minute getaway. I have stayed at the plaza in NYC and multiple four seasons throughout my life but this hotel could teach them about hospitality. From the moment, we got to the hotel, we were greeted with their daily free wine tasting in their living room. After complimenting the fish tank, the bell hop proceeded to tell us we can have a fish in our room! Next thing you know we have a fish named John hanging out with us in our room. They have complimentary organic coffee in the morning which is a plus. So much to offer! Can't wait to stay here for a longer time! read more

As many of the other reviews have mentioned, the staff here goes above and beyond to take care of you! The concierge is down to earth and so accommodating-perfect complement to the gorgeous and unique hotel itself. Kimpton hotels are consistently awesome, so sassy and a ton of fun. Rooms are adorable and spacious, showers were hot and luscious, service was prompt and friendly. Bambara, the hotel's restaurant, is also great-we had cocktails there and the bartender made great recommendations. I booked on my phone and there's a mobile deal for reservations if that helps you make the choice to stay here. read more

The Hotel Marlowe is always my first choice when in the Boston area. The staff is incredible. We just spent the weekend there too celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and brought our Boxer with us. The staff made sure there was something special waiting for both Roxy-Dog & my boyfriend, and went out of their way to make our stay special. me and my mom stayed here on a fun one-night starvation kinda thing. first off EVERYONE WAS SO SO SO INCREDIBLY NICE. i know this is kinda weird, but the elevator was super super fast and always arrived super early, and was often already there. Our room was adorable. We had written in our online reservation that we were going to have a movie night and they provided us with free nuts, two free ali drift sodas, and free candy, and wrote a long personalized letter to us. the room was large and spacious for a city standard king room, and the view over the charles was incredible. the bathroom was clean and provided us with everything. the bed was very comfy. it was a tiny bit corporate, but super boutique-y and cute. i can't get over the view! We watched two movies in a row, but when we finished them both, the people next door were having the loudest dance party ever. we couldn't sleep. we called the front desk and they responded very kindly and promptly arrived and told the people to turn their music down. as soon as the front desk person went back downstairs, the people next door turned the music back up really loud! we called again, and they were so nice and asked the people to be quiet. they finally turned off the music and we could sleep! also the curtains were super blackout which was nice bc i can only sleep in complete darkness. when we woke up we went downstairs and we're greeted with a kind good morning. they immediately apologized sincerely about the noises and did not charge us the 20 bucks of one of the movies!!!! also, the restaurant downstairs was good! very good! not amazing but i would go again!!!!! I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY INVEST IN STAYING AT THIS HOTEL! AND NEXT TIME WE WILL BRING OUR DOG (super dog friendly, free dog beds, treats everywhere, all dog families go on seventh floor, dog-sitting behind front desk!!! they all genuinely love the dogs!) love this place! read more

Stayed there with three friends for four days. Asked for a two hour extension at checkout to catch a late plane. Told had to pay 1/2 days room rate. Not very customer friendly....too many other good hotels that would have extended the courtesy. read more

Probably the best hotel experience you can get in this price range. Great location. I've stayed 3 times so far and each time it's been a great experience. You don't feel judged by anyone. Great Hotel. The beds are very comfortable, the restaurant is way above average, and great extra's like free kayaks and bikes!

Accommodations were comfortable, but the hotel restaurant was horrid. My sister and I tried the "fish and chips", and were served greasy gobbets of gelatinous "fish", embedded in poofy blobs of oil-soaked breading. Still, everybody has a bad day now and then. Would not have thought of this again, but the remainder of our party tried the breakfast. Of three plates, two had to be sent back; raw eggs, omelet made with spoiled mushrooms (just how LONG do you need to keep mushrooms around before they start to reek of ammonia??). Given the two servings of fish and chips, this means that 4 of 5 meals were inedible. read more

While the front desk staff were extremely friendly, I would not recommend staying at this hotel if you are used to a Kimpton level of room. The view of the Charles River was the nicest part of the room. Unfortunately, the comforter to the bed had multiple stains of dried blood on it. Upon calling the front desk, they did bring up a new comforter. The toilet paper was 1 ply. The chair to the desk was dirty as well. This was not what I would have expected of a Kimpton. My fiancé and I stayed at the Kimpton Marlowe hotel Sunday 7/29. We checked in early and our room with a view wasn't available so we took a room with no view because it was available ASAP. No big deal, we were early, no fault on them. We notified the front desk we had an early flight the next morning out of Logan airport and asked about taxi services etc. we got back to our room around 8pm and noticed it was a little warm so we lowered the AC down to about 74 to get it nice and cool. By 9pm our room was 82 degrees. We called the front desk and explained that the AC was not working and they said they would send someone up to fix it. 20 minutes later, no one. We called down again. We were told someone was coming. 20 more minutes, same thing. Finally at 10:15 pm we get someone in the room to fix the AC. It took about another hour to fix. So around 11:15 is when we have our room back, mind you it's still 80-something degrees because now it needs to cool down. With how much was spent on this room for the night, when we called down at 9 saying we had no cool air and them knowing we had an early flight, we should have been offered a different room that had a working AC unit. Not waiting 2 hours in an 80 degree room. During our checkout at around 5am the next morning I calmly explained how this was unacceptable but was told that since I prepaid for the room we could not be credited anything back. They did however pay for our taxi to the airport. I was told by the gentleman at the front desk that our information would be passed on to management so this situation could be remedied and still have not received anything 6 days later. The hotel is beautiful and in a great area, which is why I gave it the Stars I did, but the staff working that night were not up to par for the price of the room and what is to be expected at that level. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone because it seems to me the staff is not consistent with their customer service and you can't guarantee a good experience. read more

We had an excellent experience with this hotel. Booked room online, thought we had to cancel after deadline due to car problem, then found after we cancelled we could get to hotel after all. Got rebooked by phone and staff at desk were super nice and helpful. Room was ready about 1PM and it was super quiet, with very comfortable bed and pillows. After speaking with the hotel manager Joe (who was absolutely amazing) I decided to give Hotel Marlowe another go. Just as before, I was greeted very nicely at the front door and at the front desk. I love the decor at this hotel. There were no problems with the room, I got exactly what I had requested and I had a beautiful view facing the river. The rooms are so cozy and the beds are so so comfortable that I almost didn't want to get out of bed to get ready for my evening out. I had a friend flying in from out of town and I had arrived several hours before her so I decided to order room service. I ordered a burger and fries. It was delivered fast and was really yummy. Later that evening my friend and I headed out for dinner. There are always cabs right out front so no waiting and its a quick ride into town. When we got back to the room I was so pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne and chocolates (which just so happen to be two of my favorite things) and a lovely hand written note. This was really a nice touch and so thoughtful. The next morning I had to run to a meeting so my friend had brunch and some cocktails in the hotel restaurant and said it was fabulous! She's a huge foodie too so that's definitely a good sign! I am definitely glad I gave this place another chance. My friend commented that next time she visits she would like to stay here again. I have to mention one more time that Joe was amazing. I really feel like he cared about my original concerns and was so sincere. One of the best customer service experiences I've had! read more

I booked this hotel with the help of yelp reviews and this is a case where I'm so glad it worked out. Hotel Marlowe is the best of the boutique hotel world. They have nice seating outside and in the lobby for gathering and relaxing. In the mornings, they have a nicely set up coffee bar. They are conveniently located next to the galleria mall in case you find yourself in need of something. We were given wonderful restaurant recommendations by the staff [I loved Tatte, it is a short stroll from the hotel (get the pistachio croissant or the cheesecake!)]. Hotel Marlowe provides yoga mats in the rooms along with umbrellas, complimentary bikes are available for your use. They also have umbrellas at the front desk in case of inclement weather. The staff really cares about their guests. I ordered decaf coffee one night after dinner, expecting to be charged room service, but Terry delivered it to my room at no charge. I ordered decaf, he took the extra time to brew it since I imagine it is not something they regularly have on hand. I am telling all of my friends and family who have business in Boston or Cambridge to stay at this lovely place. My husband and I will definitely be returning (and soon, I hope). read more

I could not wait to write this, because this place is unbelievable. My husband, three children and I traveled to Boston for a family reunion. We booked the hotel based on customer service reviews and location and in both cases, the hotel exceeded our expectations. Especially the customer service. We arrived hot and tired after an early and long travel day, hoping for an early check in, and Ali at the front desk made it happen. This place is all about the small touches. When my son asked about the telescope in our room, which, as it turns out, was decorative, the porter who came to check on it offered to bring a pair of binoculars from home! When my husband and I got back from a run, the doorman handed us each a towel and bottle of water. When we went down to get another cup of coffee and found that the lobby setup had already been taken down, the front desk agent ran and got a couple cups from the restaurant. So we were so disappointed when we had a terrible brunch on Sunday morning. They were clearly understaffed but the service and food were both super disappointing, and it was expensive. When we got back to the room I gave this feedback to the hotel's comment line. Within two minutes, Ali called the room, apologized profusely for the experience, and took the meal off our bill. I was so grateful but also explained that I thought they'd want the feedback, because it was such a contrast to the rest of our time in the hotel. A couple hours later, I got a call on my cell from the restaurant's manager, who thanked me for the feedback, apologized again and offered to buy us dinner. And when we got back late that night from a day in boston with family, in our room was a hand written note from Ali with a variety of snacks and drinks for us to enjoy. ABOVE AND BEYOND. I would recommend this place highly - it was stellar. We will definitely be back. read more

Excellent. Amazing. Perfect.We got married at the Hotel Marlowe on Oct. 15, 2011. It has been two weeks already and people are still raving over how amazing the entire event was. Working with Regina made our event easy and flawless. She was amazing and easy to work with, especially with all my crazy last minute changes. The hotel catered to our very demanding food needs and menu edits. Their display and service was phenomenal. The servers are experienced and know how to properly take care of the guests. The bartenders were super nice too! The taste and quality of the food was to die for and more importantly the portions were large enough to keep my family happy. We had about 190 guests at our event and every person was taken care of and content. We thought parking would be an issue, but they took care of the complimentary valet (included in our package). We also received a complimentary night in the hotel bridal suite. The room was SO CUTE! We really could not have been happier to have chosen the Hotel Marlowe. All of the staff and service are excellent and this is a great place to hold a wedding (or even stay for the weekend). I am such a big fan of Hotel Marlowe that I returned for a second time in less than a year. The condition of the hotel is great. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. The wine hour actually has good wines and if you miss it, you can request a voucher for a drink at the restaurant on site. The check in was effortless! Besart checked us in both times and he is truly a pleasure to deal with. I also like the special touch of champagne in the room with a special note for our anniversary (the first time we came). The valet are also very generous. They give you the price to park with them or to park in the neighboring garage. We opted to park somewhere else but he allowed us a few minutes to bring our things up while we left our car downstairs. The kayaks are a nice bonus--call early because they get reserved quickly. Also, the location is near the Charles River, a shopping mall, and train station. Train ride is not inconvenient but cabs get you to main sites in Boston in 10 minutes vs 30 min train ride. I will be returning here! This is my favorite Kimpton so far. read more
