Kimpton Hotels are fabulous. Huge "pros" Fantastic staff. They must be managed extremely well because the staff is highly professional and polished and it's not "fake." They seem to be excellent in hiring good people and in training employees as well. This hotel setting in Cambridge was ideal for us because of the welcome for our little dogs and the proximity of the park next door! It was so comfortable. Even the round about courtyard was nice because we could walk out and not instantly be in traffic. The true sign of a great hotel for me isn't that there are never "glitches", it's how the staff handles those "glitches." We are all human, mishaps happen, it's the aftermath that counts to me. Upon our arrival we found that the bathroom of our room was not cleaned. Truthfully, I have stayed in countless hotels over the course of many many years and I have never had this happen that I have been aware of. So I was a little confused about how to handle this, so I called the front desk and they were beyond apologetic and both responded and moved our room (to an even nicer room) faster than the blink of an eye. Actually I never even asked them for anything it all happened so quickly, I just called the front desk and told them that I thought something was a little odd and off...about the bathroom. I really want to stress that I have stayed in other Kimptons (even before I was a "karma" member and I regret not joining their "points" at an earlier date!) and I have always found the hotels clean in all areas, so please do not take this as a "norm" under any circumstances. They even compt'd our brunch the next day to make sure we were really happy. (I want to iterate that in general, if I do not care for an experience at a restaurant or hotel, I would rather just not go back than expect "perks" and in this case, as I have found in other Kimpton Hotels, their efforts are genuine and professional in their interaction with their clientelle, and I really appreciate how swiftly this particular issue was addressed). They have a sweet "wine hour" with little bites at this location, and the restaurant was lovely. One staff member (manager?) was even working on his birthday because another staff member was out, and he was super professional, friendly and efficient. I am plant based in diet and I was with someone who eats a varied diet and both of us were very happy with our restaurant experience there. Huge thumbs up for this Kimpton, we loved our stay there and can't wait to return! (p.s. I have wonderful friends in the area there and in spite of their gracious offer of hospitality, we opted for an adventure at the Kimpton Marlowe.....so happy we did!!!). read more

A very dog friendly property, they provided awesome pet beds, treats, bowls and a friendly greeting everytime we went down for a walk. The room was great with a very comfortable bed and furnishings. Absolutely wonderful ! I am writing this review as I sit in our suite on the 7th floor overlooking the Charles River and panoramic views of downtown Boston. High end and very contemporary furnishings, very clean, great location, paid parking, a 2 min interior walk to very large mall, great room service, fair price. Stayed two nights at this location. Very cosy and stylish rooms. LOVED Etro shower amenities. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Was pleasantly surprised by the wine tasting in the evenings. My family has stayed here for three years straight and love this hotel! The staff are very attentive, rooms are clean and cozy, and great walking distance to TD Garden and other Boston sites. On this past visit, I wasn't feeling too well after a long drive. We arrived around 11:30am ( typically too early for check-in) but one of our three rooms were ready and they allowed us to check-in to that room so I could rest. The woman behind the desk even offered to send up hot tea and crackers to me!! In addition, we were having some technical difficulty with the TV in our room. They promptly sent up a technician and offered a free breakfast for our inconvenience. This is a wonderful hotel with great customer service. They even had a fish in a small bowl for my kids to enjoy during our stay. Will definitely be staying here again! read more

What isn't there to love at a boutique Hotel?? Hotel Marlowe has it all, really you can't go wrong when there is a mall right next door! The staff was very friendly and helpful from beginning to end. This is a very hip hotel with style sure to bring the animal out of you. Leopard print everything even the bathrobes!! The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. The hotel offers a happy hour for guests with free wine and beer so make sure to take advantage of that. Also take advantage of the town car which has a flat rate of $20 for transportation around the Boston area...well worth it! read more

This review is long overdue, but each of my experiences at the Marlowe, including my wedding, get five stars across the board. Upon reserving the hotel for my November 2014 wedding, I had an opportunity to stay there for one night, as I was in town for a business meeting. Elizabeth D, my event coordinator, knew I'd be staying and had complimentary chocolates and champagne as a thank you waiting in my hotel room. The rooms were very nice and decorative, the beds comfortable, and the service from everyone was impeccable. I also had a chance to meet my wedding photographer and videographer and we were pleasantly surprised that a reservation was already waiting in my name for the three of us! Now, onto the wedding day--the one thing that everyone raved about was the superb attention to detail, and I couldn't agree more. I almost don't know where to begin! From the very formal food tasting/décor selection, to our favorite snacks that were placed in my and my husband's suite the day before the wedding, to the day-of details that were beautifully executed by Elizabeth and Anthony, I almost want to get married all over again! All the food was delicious, from the passed hors d'oeuvres, to the fresh fruit & crudité, to the main courses...everyone raved and had full bellies! The décor throughout the hotel made for wonderful pictures and fit nicely with our Hollywood-themed wedding. The staff were also very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I had many guests who were visiting Boston for the first time, and their experience at the Marlowe has them wanting to come back for more! It also helped that the Cambridgeside Galleria is right next door, as we had a few shopaholics in town! I picked this place thinking it was top notch. All I was left with is itchy skin, and fraudulent smoking charges. They charged me $500 for smoking, when I know for a fact that there was no smoking going on in my room at all. Managers are all pretty unhelpful when trying to resolve issue. i was in Cambridge the last week of may for apartment hunting. this place had the best rate in its class, but otherwise i knew nothing about it. after a week here now, i'm beyond impressed. it's probably the nicest hotel i've stayed at at this price point. the king size bed is large, clean and comfy, the wireless internet is stable and speedy, and the room is well insulated from noise and has a great AC (it hit 90 while i was here). the bathroom had high-quality Aveda products in it, and the TV is a large LG plasma with HD cable feed. the staff is attentive and friendly, and the housekeeping service was unreal; i frequently stayed camped in the room until late afternoon and they never bothered me. yet they always found the opportunity to make it up when i finally did leave. the single complaint i have is that they don't offer complimentary parking, so if you rent a car plan on tacking an additional $20/day onto your expenses -- there is an attached private garage that connects to the hotel with this rate, but you pay for it separately. if you can get here from the airport, you really don't need a car. that's because the hotel is walking distance from both the Red and Green lines on the subway system which will get you just about anywhere in Boston. i bought an unlimited use week-long pass for only $15. read more

After a great stay at a Kimpton property in DC for Thanksgiving, I only looked at Kimptons when looking for a few nights in Boston/Cambridge and decided on Marlowe. And again, wasn't disappointed. Pre-puppy days we had stayed a couple of times at the Le Meridian, and even if we didn't have the dog, I would have preferred the Marlowe. Comfortable, friendly staff, a room upgrade, even free continental breakfast on Christmas Day because the restaurant was closed. All that and the staff just laughs when my corgi pup decides to practice her newly found furniture jumping skills in the lobby? We have a winner. read more

This is my second time staying at the Marlowe in Boston. Both stays have been exemplary. The rooms are unique and luxurious and the customer service is just stellar. The concierge who checked us in, Aidan, was especially accommodating and thoughtful to the point of renewing my faith in humanity. What can I say? I am totally in the holiday spirit now, and feeling the love in spite of being here under not so great circumstances. 10/10 would stay again every time I'm in Boston. I had to stay here last night due to winter storm Juno. The hotel location is great and easy to get around Cambridge and also Boston. They also provide a number of amenities just in case you forget to pack (including a straightening iron). Night toiletries and bath robes also provided. I found guest services at checkin, room service, and check out to be friendly and efficient. I will definitely make this my place to stay in Cambridge - a much better value for your money than the nearby Marriott. read more

Hotel Marlowe is SO great! My husband and I came here for his birthday in the executive suite. The jacuzzi tub felt so nice, and the aesthetic of the room was amazing, from the telescope, to the view of the river. When they found out it was a surprise for his leap-year birthday, there was complimentary champagne, chocolate and fruit waiting in the room. They rock! And the bed was crazy comfortable. You just have to join their (free) rewards program in order to get free wi-fi. read more

We came in for my boyfriends birthday. We originally booked for two nights but enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it another day. The service from everyone we encountered was top notch. The Baramba Restaurant and Bar in the hotel lobby was excellent. The bartender Chris was so attentive to our needs and really personalized our experience. The breakfast was delicious! If your work's holiday party location continues to be lame and cheesy year after year, drop the hint that Hotel Marlowe has great function rooms in a high-class setting. My company has brought us here for 3 years in a row and it has always been an outstanding experience. This year, a new coworker who has inexcusably exclusive tastes was quite skeptical, but beamed a big smile as her taxi pulled up to the door. She couldn't help it--the overall effect is lavish but modern and, most importantly, low-lit. Who wants to be seen under bright lights thrashing about on the dance floor after all that booze? All right, maybe you. And, me, I guess--I've seen the photos. The food is buffet style and, I thought, very good traditional fare (turkey breast, filet mignon, pastas, lots of apps), but high standards woman pronounced it "mediocre and boring," adding that the turkey tasted as if it had been injected with water to add more weight. Also, the wait staff had a habit of snatching people's plates when they were getting drinks from the bar. This happened to one guy so many times that he didn't really get enough to eat and ended up sick as a dog, so that's a star off this review. While the hotel provides the food and booze, the DJ must be taken care of separately, but that's not your job--you just need to drink enough to forget that you grinded up against the CEO during "Love In An Elevator." read more

We just got back from staying at this hotel for 5 nights ( our first time to Boston! ) We loved Kimpton Hotels from our first experience at the Argonaut in San Francisco, this is the best hotel ever! 6 stars customer service! firm pillow top beds, hot toddies and build your own hot chocolate in the winter! Fun energy, happy employees) However, before writing a review for Marlowe Kimpton in Cambridge, MA, I was looking over the reviews to see if I could find if someone else who might have had the same , one bad experience as us and there it was... The beds! The one reason why I will not stay at this hotel again.... The beds..Ugh! Cheap mattresses that sank! Are you kidding me? Oh no! I already advanced prepaid! No refunds for 5 nights of back and neck aches. The pillows are all a really, really soft feather type of pillow. I requested 3 firm pillows but, they were too firm.. no middle ground here. So, I used the decorative pillow to sleep on. I dreaded going to bed every single night of my long awaited and well deserved vacation. It hurts my back just thinking about it. I waiver between 3 and 4 stars because there are some nice things ( come on, it is a Kimpton Hotel after all ) and there some nice employees at the front desk and all of the concierge were great. Even our maid, May was very friendly and sweet and we spoke with her daily. May left us little goodies when we got back from sightseeing, that's the Kimpton I was used too. All and all, I don't know, I was disappointed after being so spoiled at the Argonaut, Kimpton in San Francisco but, there is whole different energy at this particular Kimpton that just didn't feel great. However, Boston made up for it and for my stiff neck and back pains in the morning! We will stay in a different hotel in Boston next time. On a side note, the hotel never smelled like dogs as one reviewer claimed and I have a very strong nose. Loved seeing the few dogs here. Saw about 3 in the 5 days of staying here. All well behaved and friendly, these dogs were a little more friendly than a couple of the employees are Marlowe Kimpton, Cambridge. I stayed here the night of my bachelorette party and it was perfect. The frontdesk staff are super friendly and helpful. (Love the late night pizza delivery they recommended too). Thanks to my fellow yelp friends, this is the hotel we recently stayed at during a celebratory trip to Boston. To put it simply, we felt "special" being at Hotel Marlowe. It was more than a nice place to stay, it was an experience. I travel often for work and I've become a bit blah about staying in hotels... but not at Hotel Marlowe. I got a certain giddiness the moment I walked in the door. I arrived at happy hour and was able to pick up a glass of wine before I checked in (how perfect)! As promised by other reviewers, I let the front desk know it was my boyfriend's birthday and they made it a big deal. He was welcomed with sincere birthday wishes and staff stopped by the room with champagne and chocolates. They also were able to be accommodating on our arrival. He arrived first and they did not require (or ask him for) his credit card to check in; they were able to use the one I had on file and take my actual card when I arrived a few hours later (very much appreciated this effort). The hotel bar was fun and was a great first stop on our evening. It wasn't cheesy or depressing like many hotel bars- like the rest of the hotel, it called you in and made you want to stay awhile. Cambridge is a short hop away from Boston and it was not inconvenient to be outside the downtown area. Most of our activities were in Boston and we took cabs to get around (never paid more than $20). Highly recommend for those looking for a "special treat" without taking half your week's salary. read more

From the design, to the service, to the pet-friendliness, to the wine happy hours, they truly showcase world-class attention to detail...and the Marlowe is no exception. My family stays here every time they travel to Cambridge to visit and are always extremely pleased with the experience Kimpton & the Marlowe staff provide. The rooms are all wonderfully interesting in terms of decor and how can you not love the animal print robes?! Their most recent stay was made even more spectacular when they were given a lovely room with a phenomenal view of the Charles, and some wonderful treats were sent to them from the Manager, Michael Holzwarth. As loyal Kimpton guests, we are consistently impressed with everything about their boutique hotels, and Marlowe leaves no detail overlooked. Now that the weather is nice, the courtyard area outside the hotel near the valet parking has wonderful outdoor couches/seating where guests can wait for the vehicles, or even enjoy a cocktail outside...perfect. I cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel and their attentive staff...there really is no reason to stay anywhere else in Cambridge! read more

We stayed at Hotel Marlowe on September 15, 2017. It was a Friday Night. The circumstances for our stay, we wanted to be close to BIDMC in Boston. The staff realized our situation quickly and could not do enough to make our stay feel more comfortable. From reception (Ali Haddad), to the bar tender and the doorman, all were most accommodating. The recommendations for dinner close by the hotel were countless. Breakfast the next morning at the hotel was extraordinary, Really!! The overnight accommodations were exceptional. The details in the rooms are incredible, when you stay look closely in the room, you will find many!! We plan to go back to Hotel Marlowe for pleasure now that medical issues are behind us at BIDMC. read more

My wife and I stayed recently stayed here and really enjoyed it. It's next to the Cambridge Side Galleria Mall, and near the Museum of Science, and overlooking the Charles River. Very Welcoming: I pulled into the courtyard, and the valet parking attendant explained to me the parking process, I told him I had a package, and he said okay, I'll take your car. He also helped with our luggage. I did not have to wait to check-in, I just walked up to the desk and checked-in. The guest services desk person told me everything about the hotel (amenities). Important: Everyone called me Mr. [name]. I felt like I was important because I felt like everyone knew who I was when I checked in, called guest services to get my car, and when we got our breakfast in bed. We enjoyed the wine reception and (we didn't get carded - always appreciated) enjoyed the wine. Hip / Cool: Hotel Marlowe was very welcoming, professional, and yet still fun. The staff were professionally dressed and helpful, yet there was an atmosphere of 'this is a fun place, come to have a drink by the fire, chill out, stay in your room, etc.' The "tiger printed decor" was a little over the top, but hotels need a theme to create a sense of fun and/or seriousness...or both. Care: Before I arrived, I emailed the concierge about the Boston Opera House, telling him that I was going to see Dirty Dancing with my wife, and he was helpful. Also, upon check-in, the guest server knew we were going to Dirty Dancing, and recommended that we snack before and eat/drink afterwards; helpful and insightful. Later in the day, we went walking around the mall and along the Charles, and when we came back, there was a gift in the room. Very tasty and thoughtful! THANK YOU! As part of the package we got, we had breakfast in bed, and it was excellent! Very tasty. I had two eggs over medium with real potatoes, and bacon, while my wife had french toast with bananas. SO GOOD! and we got a [free]newspaper to read too! Fun: The leopard print decor was something out of the box, yet still felt as if we were in a fancy hotel with character. I liked the hallway rug design (compass). The iHome was a nice touch in the room, as we brought our Ipods and played our music...felt very homey. The large window in the room over looking the Charles, Zakim Bridge, and Museum of Science. I love looking outside! This was a fun get-a-way hotel to go to, even though we live in the area. I would recommend this hotel for as a good place for a night out on the town and/or a short distant escape. read more

Stayed here one night this halloween with my girlfriend. This was our first time staying at a kimpton and we both loved it! The entire hotel from the lobby to the halls to the rooms was immaculate. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was in a great location, attached to the mall and about a 5 minute walk to leechmere. We would certainly stay here again. read more

We had Hotel Marlowe as the "home base" for our destination wedding. It's a great location with plenty of amenities. We stayed there in the winter so we unfortunately didn't get to use the free kayaks or bikes, but the wine hour is fabulous. They also had spiked hot chocolate during wine hour as well (for winter). The front desk was very helpful and amiable working with me to give each guest a personalized welcome cards that I would give them and they would give to each guest when they checked in. They only lost one (which happened when the day and night team switch happened). We also had a lot of young singles at our wedding who Hotel Marlowe had no issue helping us schedule as people were coming and going on different days. It was a lot of logistics and they handled it without rolling their eyes or bundling anything. It was fun to work with them on creating a fun experience for our guests. They will even put pictures in your room for you if you send them the jpg. The hotel itself is lovely and has a great atmosphere. It is cozy and elegant simultaneously. The rooms are well-sized and clean. I love that they allow dogs and I would pet them whenever I could! On the day of the wedding, I didn't have bobby-pins and someone from the front desk (I don't know who because my friend got them for me--please reveal yourself and I can give them back!!) actually gave me theirs!! Hotel Marlowe's staff really goes above and beyond and they look cool doing it in their animal print robes at night. Honestly, it felt like visiting family when we stayed here. We also had a medical emergency while at the Marlowe and they were able to handle it with ease. They were supportive and accommodating and we were able to focus on the person who needed help and not what we were going to do about our hotel rooms (we were supposed to be checking out and ended up needed to stay another day). We couldn't have picked a better place to stay and we will most certainly be back!! read more

We had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party here this past Saturday night - 100 adults and 50 kids. Every single detail was excellent. Our catering Manager, Ellie, was superb. When we first met with the hotel, during our "shopping" period, they were very warm, friendly, and definitely wanted our business (as opposed to some places that didn't really seem to care one way or another). They include a number of nice little amenities that help make the event extra special - the logo from daughter's invitation shining up on the wall of the hotel entrance was very fun, and they tried to accommodate all of our special requests. They worked well with the other vendors, we never had to get involved or solve any problems. The night of the party Ellie greeted us when we arrived, and then she and her assistant were always available to take care of any need that came up. All of the food was excellent - hors d'oeuvres, and entrees. The room and foyer are beautiful, and definitely have more personality than the typical hotel. We did not stay over at the hotel that night but a number of our guests did, they all gave it a rave review. This was our 3rd Bat Mitzvah, but our first time at an event at the Marlowe, and they surpassed our expectations. I would recommend this hotel for a wedding or bat mitzvah, without reservation. read more

Had a fantastic stay for a weekend. Love love love the decor in the rooms/hotel. The decor is chic and modern and just fun. Kimpton hotels are themed and this one was kinda nautical/world traveler which was just my style. The bed in the room was so comfy that we were going to try and walk out with it! The rooms were roomy, comfy and clean. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the complimentary kayaks or go to the wine hour. We ordered room service for breakfast and it came on time and nothing was missing. The staff is great and the location is good too. It's connected to a mall (but I didn't even notice) and there's a nice little park area in the back. It would have been perfect if parking was free but $20 a night is cheaper than most other places I've stayed at. The T is also a short walk away and there are plenty of residents just walking around so it definitely wasn't shady. I will definitely be back again. read more

The Yelpers have spoken!! This is a great hotel. A true 4.5 stars. Great location in Cambridge, attached to a mall through a parking lot (didnt feel the safest taking this route but it was ok), 30$ overnight valet parking, and great service. The hotel has one small restaurant inside which is delicious! If that is not what you had in mind, there is a cheesecake factory and CPK just steps away as well as a mall food court if you are looking for a quick bite. They gave me a free glass of wine at check-in. The room was spacious and well decorated. Everything was clean. The bed was comfortable.There are Iphone docks in the rooms for your convenience. There are a list of items in the bathroom that they will bring you free of charge if you happened to forget to pack yours (hair irons, toiiletries etc). The bathroom counter was a bit small and the room did not have a tea/coffee maker. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I will recommend this hotel without reservation. You will love it! Pathetic excuse for a boutique hotel (and I normally like Kimpton hotels). The room was clean and the hotel was well kept, but otherwise you will never hear me recommend this hotel. The average age of the staff seemed to be about 25 years old and had no regard for manners. To start, the valet told us it would be $20/night for parking and when we checked out they charged us $35..oopsie? Saturday night we decided to check out the hotel bar for a glass of wine and the bartender was unbelievably rude!! The bar was not terribly busy and while I patiently waited for my turn at the bar he turned to me and said "you're at the bottom of the line" ... I mean, really? For no necessary reason. We went to talk to the front desk and they just laughed like it was some kind of joke. Regardless, I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. You're better off paying a few bucks more and staying at a 5* hotel where you actually get what you pay for! read more

Hotel Marlow is an exceptional hotel that I cannot believe I am just finding out about. My boyfriend and I frequent the city for over night/weekend trips and tend to stay in hotels in the center of the city so we are close to everything but parking gets costly, it's loud because of traffic, etc. We found this gem on the car ride up to Boston for our recent vacation and booked it based upon reviews and more importantly, the price! What an affordable hotel for Boston - it gives off such an eclectic vibe. Modern with a twist of wild patterns, textures and furniture. The lobby and lounge are stunning, the front desk during check out was beyond helpful as they struck up a conversation with us. They even offered us complimentary glass of wine tickets even though we arrived after the promotional window. Our check in was smooth and easy, room was incredibly clean and had leopard and zebra bathrobes!! Probably one of the most exciting things for me! :) The bed was beyond comfortable, we sunk right in after a long night out in the city and slept in the next morning without being bothered. It is close enough to the city, you're only about 2 miles away from everything and the Museum of Science is across the street. There is also a mall attached to the hotel. We forgot toothpaste, called downstairs and next thing I know, there was a knock on the door with a tube of toothpaste. We also ordered a late night room service snack - milk and cookies! You could not go wrong. I remember the bathroom being a little tight but the size of the room was great for just two people staying the night. On our next visit to Boston, we will 110% be staying at Hotel Marlow again. It is a 4 diamond AAA rated property and it holds up to it! The grounds are kept very well and there are beautiful views of the Charles River. Make sure you stay at Hotel Marlowe! read more

Had our wedding here a few months ago and cannot say enough great things about the hotel and staff. They were so great to work with and the hotel is so beautiful and clean. A bunch of our family and friends stayed at the hotel also and they loved it and cannot stop raving about. The customer service really stood out and far surpasses other hotels I have stayed at. It is in a convenient location, very close to the museum of science and a short train or cab ride to downtown Boston. The attached restaurant, Bambara is also very good! The hotel is dog friendly, but you would never be able to tell because it smells great and is very clean. For our wedding we worked with Hollie, and she was incredible. Cannot say enough good things about our experience. I can't wait to come back and visit soon. read more
