We were able to check in when we got here early as a room was ready and available. Much appreciated. Hotel is nice, room was nice just definitely a smaller room which was fine for the night we were there and it had a desk for my husband to work from. No surprises as the room we booked online didn't make us think it would be enormous. We were never able to connect to internet and there was no coffee pot in our room, we had to call and have them bring one up. Location of the hotel was great since we had no car and were walking. If this is what a boutique hotel is I am not fan and won't stay at a Kimpton again, especially this one. However friendly and clean it was, for the price it was not worth it not to mention they charge a resort fee and for what I am not sure, they should pay us a resort fee for staying here and it not being a seamless stay. We got charged $25 for amenities yet no coffee in the room, wifi did not work and the room was super stuffy since no bathroom fan. Glad we paid $25 for nothing. Not to mention their website claims to have yoga mats In the rooms but ours didn't. So false claims. read more

Disappointment and average service. Had been wanting to come here for a staycation for awhile. So booked a king suite for a belated Valentine's Day this past Sunday for my wife and 8 month daughter. At $270 plus $50 valet this was a very disappointing experience. Especially since have had far superior stays at a better price point at many other Seattle hotels. I have no issue with a valet fee. But when I pull up and no one comes out, so I Sherpa the bags and baby. Then when checked out no one tells me the valet won't be there but have to hunt them down and learn keys were at front desk after searched for the valet for 5 minutes again towing bags and baby it is unclear if thee Monaco knows what valet means. The room was fairly nice and was spacious and liked the curtain to separate the living space from bedroom. But the bed wasn't comfortable and the bathroom was a standard tub with a poor shower head and a look dated back to the 80s. What was really annoying is they advertise their restaurant with room service every day till 10pm. But learned not on Sundays and when called room service reroute to front desk that was fairly rude and said "we don't have room service." When have an 8 month old this is frustrating since dining at restaurants often not a real option and when booked you said you did. I had to door dash valentines dessert. Would not be an issue if they noted this when referencing they have this service as an amenity. So look elsewhere:The Paramount is better location, has room service and better beds. The W and Thompson are far superior and sadly even the Grand Hyatt was a better stay and all well under the Monaco price point read more

Having had excellent experiences at Kimpton hotels in the past, we went out of our way to stay at the Monaco during a recent Seattle visit. Despite a couple of high points, the overall experience was somewhat lacking. The biggest thing I hope to find in a hotel room is comfy seating - I've never been able to use a hotel bed as a place to read or to watch TV. I was initially encouraged to see a stylish sofa in our room, but a lack of both lower back support and arms made this piece of furniture unusable. My only alternative was spending my waking hours for our 48 hour stay in the desk chair. Perhaps due to Covid, this is the only hotel I can recall without a coffee maker in the room. My wife checked the options in the lobby, and they did not have a decaf (doctor's orders) option there. Another missing item was a fridge. There was an empty minibar cabinet, possibly another victim of Covid. Before our visit, I knew that we'd be staying in a part of town that was uphill from the waterfront, but upon arrival discovered that the building behind the hotel is taller, so it appears that no rooms have any kind of view to the west. While making reservations, we were pleased to find out that there was a valet parking discount for hybrid vehicles. At checkout, they initially did not apply the discount, claiming it had not been logged correctly by the valet, who was standing nearby and was unhappy to be used as a scapegoat. Stayed here for a long weekend just this past weekend in a double queen room. The room itself was fine for the most part with the exception of a few things. These included a broken hairdryer, a minifridge that wasn't accessible due to a cabinet door being stuck, and a standing lamp that didn't turn on. All of which ended up getting reported to the staff which I hope gets fixed for the next guests. When it comes to the positives, the best thing would definitely be the ease of convenience of getting to Pike Place Market. It is about a 12 minute walk from the hotel. Another thing that I enjoyed were the complimentary water bottles when I checked in. If you want any additional water bottles, you can ask the hotel receptionist. The hotel also offers free water, hot apple cider, coffee, and hot chocolate on the first floor. They also have free wine from a certain time period in the evening each day. Other than that, the hotel is good and I would definitely go back in the future if I visit Seattle again. read more

We had 2 stays at this location within a month. The first one we got in earlier than planned and didn't call ahead for early check - in . " Caelan " did what he does well and got us a room. Later that afternoon, he saw me in the lobby and asked how things were and if I needed anything as far as restaurants, tourism ,attractions etc... . On my second stay I was helped by another clerk . Everything went smooth as expected. After a long day of exploring I came downstairs to visit the restaurant and just happen to see " Caelan " and he asked things were going and let him know if we needed anything. The hotel was good , the restaurant ( Outlier ) was good , all of the associates were good ( no issues at all ) but Caelan work ethic is why I will return. A building is a building . If they keep it clean , its a good purchase . Great customer service & clean building makes it a great purchase . Customer service is a priority to me . Great job Caelan !! read more

We have stayed here a few times over the years and we enjoy the evening wine hour; the location is perfect; the valet is fast; the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms we've had are very comfortable and spacious. In the past you could request a goldfish for your room which was actually pretty entertaining but they no longer do that. As a tip, if you are an Elite member and you call and inquire about the likelihood of an upgrade they might just upgrade you on the spot. read more

We stayed here for a long weekend recently. We had the King Deluxe on the 11th floor and it was fine for our needs. The view was a brick wall, which was disappointing, and the restaurant doesn't serve breakfast, which equally was disappointing but we ordered Uber eats for the next morning when neither of us could move and that was fine. The only complaint, other than the lack of room service, was the check in chick (blonde with tats) who is definitely in the wrong profession if customer service or hospitality is supposed to be her bag. Newsflash, it's not. Hotel was clean, bed was comfy, majority of the staff was cool. The location was great. A few blocks from everything and the W Bar across the street did us in one night. Great front desk staff! We had 3 rooms reserved through a third party, and had to cancel one of the rooms. Despite our efforts two weeks prior to arrival, our request for refund was denied by the third party. When we checked in, we asked about the cancellation refund again, and Kyra was so helpful. She made arrangements to approve a refund and encouraged us to contact the third party. Within a couple of hours, it was done! In addition, the room was comfortable and location is great. This is my second stay at a Kimpton, which offers a boutique style hotel lineup within the IHG hotel group. Enjoyed a two-night points stay here in October 2022 and overall it was a positive experience. Pluses: friendly staff, updated interior and nice lounge area, king size room was large, convenient location to nearby Belltown, Seattle Center, and Pikes Place Market. Minuses: no welcome bonus for IHG Platinum Elite, wine happy hour was average, and said location was a bit sketchy to walk around at night. We used points for this stay but I would considering staying here again given the relative value for the price point. read more

I scored a pretty sweet last minute deal here during my visit to Seattle last year. Here I am finally writing about my visit.... haha. This was precovid days, so not sure what has changed since then. Anywho, I had never stayed in a Kimpton before, so I didn't know quite what to expect. This particular hotel is conveniently located and is within walking distance to public transportation, restaurants, and major attractions in downtown Seattle like the aquarium, Pike Place Market, etc. I also felt very safe which was top of mind for me as I was traveling by myself. Check-in was easy despite arriving early and the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions that I had. Once I got to my room, I was quite surprised. I've never seen such quirky, brightly colored decor. However, it was well done and wasn't tacky at all. My room was also HUGE for one person which I loved. The views weren't great (you can see across the way to the neighboring building), but I didn't mind as I wasn't staying long and planned to be out and about most of the time. The bed was very comfortable and I even took the time to enjoy a very long soak in the tub. They provided ample amenities and you could call the front desk for other needs and they bring it to your door. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. It's a nice, upscale hotel, and all the staff were really really friendly which still stands out in my mind today. Really good customer service! read more

I felt like I had to update my review after my most recent experience at the Monaco. From start to finish, it was a great experience, truly what I have come to expect from Kimpton. I received an amazing room (which may have been an upgrade, but I don't know), and it was quiet, clean, and very comfortable. I brought my portable noise speaker this time, but I honestly didn't even need it. If I had to note any hiccup, it would be that I didn't get a new room service tag for breakfast after I used my first one, but honestly.. minor complaint! Kimpton continues to wow me, which might be why I am Platinum now. I know I can always expect greatness from them, and Monaco completely keeps the trend going! read more

I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco from Thursday - Sunday and it was in great location! I was able to walk to Pike Place Market within 10 minutes each day! I was also close to the Monorail that takes you directly to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, and Chihuly Garden and Glass. During my stay there was also a Sea-fair parade and marathon on the same street and I was able to watch the festivities from my window. The staff (especially Taylor) were amazing! There was nothing that I asked for that they didn't provide or accommodate me with as quickly as possible. The Outlier restaurant that is attached is also really really good! That avocado toast was to die for! Overall, if I make my way to Seattle again, I will stay here! Thanks for making my vacation memorable! P.S. Taylor deserves a raise! read more

The checkin process was rather smooth and desk staff were rather friendly and prompt. Sadly, we didn't spend the night in this hotel due to bedbugs! As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed one crawl (rather quickly) across the bed. We promptly called the front desk who collected the bedbug. Upon discussion with them they said this was the first living one they had seen. We left our pajamas there and discarded the rest of the belongings. Very, very disappointed. I'd been under the impression Kimpton was a classier, boutiquish type of hotel. Not this place. The location itself was fine. The place charges $25 a day for a RESORT fee. The best is how they "explain" it. It's for the "free coffee" in the lounge from 5am - whenever (a time frame for "free coffee"), access to their gym (are you f'ing kidding me!), and there's a wine hour from 5p-6p. We get into our "premium" room. It was kinda cute looking but 2 things really bother me. 1. There was no body soap for the shower. You had to either use what was on the wall--body wash--or use the hand soap. For $400+ a night, gimme a fucking bar of soap when I shower. 2. They have shampoo, conditioner and body wash attached to the wall. I hate that. Ours was close to empty, so useless!!! Oh, the remote in the room barely worked. Especially since we were early birds and wanted to watch some TV before bed. We wanted to have breakfast in the restaurant but they didn't want business. We wait for about 3 minutes to be greeted, even though 4 different employees walked right past us. The "manager" comes over and says it will be about 15 minutes to get seated. (The place is half empty). He advised us it was for "staff to catch up". Really? On a Saturday morning, your 4 employees can't handle half a restaurant? Geesh! The mirror in the room was awesome. Ive stayed here multiple times and will be taking a break. Services have deteriorated. My room wasn't cleaned. The coffee pots are gone in rooms. The front desk is not trained. Example of the latter. I called for my car, gave the front desk my number. Went downstairs-30 minutes and no car. The front desk didn't inform the valet. To make it worse the manager, who did apologize, blamed it on the phone system. Others were having the same problem. At the end of the pandemic service is being impacted. I understand that but this place has some real issues that need to be resolved. read more

The resort fee is charged per night, but for what? The only parking they had is valet parking and that is not even covered. There is no pool, the bar/restaurant was closed when we got there so we could not even enjoy that. Overall, not staying here again. Just felt like a complete waste of money. I've always been a fan of the IHG Kimpton boutique hotels. On my last trip to Seattle, I decided to book a stay at the Hotel Monaco located on 4th St. The positives: Location was good. It was located in a central part of downtown Seattle and was within walking distance and a short Uber ride to all the attractions we wanted to see. Was able to check into our room earlier and drop bags off. Rooms were decent. Not the greatest, but a place to sleep at night. The negatives: Room are definitely on the older side and have been renovated. The bathroom facets had rust on it, and given towels with lots of stains. Had to remind staff of our requests many times, and had to wait upwards of 1 to 2 hours for towels and toilteries. Very apparent staff was not trained. Right after booking my stay (prior to check-in), I had called and emailed the conceirge to let them know I would like to note my reservations as a chain stay. They told me not to worry and they would take care of it. Of course, when I arrived, they had forgotten and this made the check-in process slow. Was told at check-in I was was given $10 a day ($20 total) of bodega credit and $15 a day ($30 total) of food & beverage credit to redeem at Shaker + Spear (restaurant at the Kimpton Palladian). The receptionist at check-in told told me I would charge my room for the bodega items and they will be creditted at check-out. To redeem the restaurant credit I was told to charge to my personal card, keep the receipt, and they will take care of it at check-out. Just to make sure, I went back down to the front desk to confirm. Receptionist at check-in forget to give me bodega vouchers, so I was able to get those from him before purchasing any items. He also reconfirmed how to redeem Shaker + Spear credit so I went ahead and made reservations at the restaurant and paid with my personal card. Now when it came time to check-out that's were all the snafus occurred. At check-out, staff were refusing to take my bodega credit vouchers and my Shaker + Spear dinner could not be covered by the food & beverage credit. I had to fight them on this saying at check-in and throughout my stay, I had tripled checked to make sure these credits could be applied during my stay. A check-out process that should've taken 5-10 minutes ended up taking 45 minutes. I almost missed my ride to the aiport! At the end, they were able to apply credits to my bodega purchases, but only was able to reimburse me for $15 for my dinner at Shaker + Spear. Essentially, I was robbed $15... One star for being a place to lay my head down at night and another star for being decently clean. In conclusion, I would not stay at this hotel again. I have been to my fair share of Kimpton hotels, and the Hotel Monaco was everything, but an upscale boutique stay. I would've been better off saving my money and staying at a lower-end IHG property. read more

I finally found "The Hotel" in Seattle. I have to travel at least once or twice a year to Seattle for business purposes, and so far, I was disappointed with the Hyatt at Olive 8 and the Kimpton Vintage in Seattle (you can find both of my reviews in Yelp). The Kimpton Monaco Seattle is one level (or maybe two) above the rest. I have IHG Gold Elite status, but sometimes I receive great discounts with Expedia Group and I book with them instead of using the IHG Website. Unfortunately, I feel that some hotels treat you different with those reservations. But this was not the case with the Kimpton Monaco Seattle, everything was perfect (customer service, location and room). As well, I love that they have a great lobby with waiting area with sofas and even a big table with chairs. I heard her make fun of disabled guests as well as employees with disabilities she has called stupid. The entire company is chaotic. The employees save your credit card information illegally. Half the staff is on drugs or drunk during their shifts. This place is way over priced for what you're getting. You will have a better time at a motel 6. You will probably get stuff stolen from your vehicle and pay for the valet, as well as you may have stuff stolen from you room. Check your credit card statements they will bill you for extra things you aren't aware of. If you have never been here then you're not missing anything great. read more

Visited Seattle for New Years and stayed at this lovely pet friendly hotel. We got into the hotel around 11am (I think check-in time is normally around 3 pm) were welcomed by very friendly staff and a little doggie welcome sign with my name on it! They didn't have any rooms available yet, but took my phone number to give us a call when the room was available. We got a high floor, but because the hotel is one of the shorter buildings on the block, you can't really get a city view. The room itself was very nice and clean! No pet hairs anywhere! What I didn't know about when I reserved the room, was all their complimentary events! Every night there's a wine hour where complimentary wine is served. In the mornings, there's a little drinks booth where you can help yourself to coffee, hot chocolate or tea! On NYE's there was a guitarist who played music in the cozy lobby area and they had little munchies for you to enjoy while having your wine. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Kimpton. It's not too long of a walk to Pike's Place and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I also loved seeing cute doggies everywhere! read more

Not sure I would really recommend this place overall. For the price we paid, we definitely expected a little better. This hotel wasn't terrible by any means as the hotel staff was kind and helpful and the location was very good. You can walk to the public market in less than 10 minutes and there are many things to do within a very short walk of this spot! A few things to note though is that the rooms are outdated and our room in particular was not cleaned very well as there was hair in the shower and some dirt in the bathroom. We noticed that a lot of the furniture had paint peeling off of it. There is also no daily room cleaning service due to covid supposedly which we thought was a little odd since previous hotels we have stayed in recently have gotten past that. You can still get cleaning upon request though (just have to remember to actually call). read more

This hotel has definitely gone a bit downhill since the last time we stayed here (maybe 4-5 years ago, pre-pandemic for sure). It's a 4 star hotel apparently but really it's 3. I didn't realize how dated and run down everything is at this hotel now. They were able to accommodate a bit of an early check in for us which was nice. The room was clean. Bad water pressure and we had plenty of hot water our first night here (Friday) but struggled for it Sat/Sun. The bathroom was really small and dated, no fan or any type of air circulation in there, and no lock on the door. Cheap ass economy toilet paper. Free coffee in the lobby 5-11am but it's not quality. The on-site restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. Also how do you have a premier floor but ice located on a different one? Doesn't seem very premier to me. Multiple staff seem unhappy here. We had a convo with our bartender (who was very nice and amazing) at Outlier about how disorganized and dysfunctional the restaurant part is. When I requested for housekeeping service Saturday afternoon (since they didn't come in the AM) and the woman at the front desk gave me a ton of attitude and told me all housekeeping had already gone home for the day but they could send a maintenance guy to empty trash and give us fresh towels. She could not be bothered....don't work the front desk then! We probably won't stay here again. read more

When I was browsing through Yelp listings, I almost bypassed this lovely Kimpton boutique hotel because the pre-renovation photos were fugly. You know what sealed the deal? The business responses to what I called 'Goldfish-gate'. Tom W in particular handled the "outrage" beautifully. And as someone who was hounded (see what I did there?) by animal advocates over a review of a business that had NOTHING to do with animals, I felt his pain. From start to finish (after one minor hiccup re-booking our reservation to get a lower rate) service was outstanding. It started on-site with a hearty greeting offered by the valet staff upon every arrival and departure and continued with the front desk and concierge. We felt very well cared for and appreciated. This also included on-line correspondence before and after our visit when the staff was ultra responsive. If you are going to stay here, definitely sign-up for the Kimpton In Touch program for a few great perks (free internet, free mini-bar item and room upgrades, if available) and check-in on Yelp for a free bottle of wine. It was delivered to our room within minutes. We enjoyed the free wine hour from 5:00 - 6:00p daily and the coffee bar (with marshmallows and chocolate shavings) added to the usual offerings in the morning. There were a number of eco-friendly touches and everything just seemed really well thought out (like having four different newspapers - local and national - in the lobby) rather than delivering a paper that may or may not be read to your door. I really hate paying for parking so that was a bummer. They do charge by the night, not the day, and it includes valet service. If you are a AAA member and not taking advantage of another promotion, you can typically get 1/2 off parking as well as a reduced room rate. Would absolutely consider staying here again, since we loved the room, location and service. Hotel with a personality This is my first experience with a Kimpton Hotel and I am glad we decided to stay here. Staff really is friendly and accommodating. The trick working at any service type of establishment is being fresh and understanding when a customer has asked a question you have heard the umpteenth time. These guys do a nice job of not rolling their eyes or trying anticipate the question before you finish your sentence. The room was superb, clean and spacious. The mediteranian theme provides a somewhat eclectic room design but still a fun and comfortable place to stay. Pet friendly, they allow dogs for an additional fee. Some added security- you have to use your room key to access the elevators. A little more secure feeling. Parking (like in any city) is pretty expensive- $39 for overnight parking. Join the Hotel rewards program (free) and get free wifi and a $10 raid the room bar credit during your stay. We grabbed a bag of dark chocolate almonds that hit the spot. The hotel is located kitty corner from the Seattle Central public library- an architectural marvel. A great place to spend a rainy day, and just across the street from the hotel. This nice central location for the hotel gives easy access to Pike's market, the Seattle Central Monorail, Pioneer Square and other points of interest. The rail from Sea-Tac airport stops just two blocks from the hotel, a real convenience. But the interesting feature of the hotel, a small but interesting feature is that you have a resident goldfish that stays with you during your stay. We were in a suite so we actually had two goldfish, kinda one for me, one for da boss. A nice touch, especially after a long day of sightseeing or meetings. If staying in Seattle Hotel Monaco will always be a go-to hotel in my book. read more

It was my first Kimpton Hotel experience and I am sold. I was in Seattle to mark the anniversary of a significant loved one's death. I found the staff to be respectful and personable. Also helpful, for example in helping me find food delivery when I arrived into town late and ravenous or printing out ferry tickets when my stay was extended (thank you Ethan and Chris!). As a woman travelling solo I appreciated: that the elevator required a key card for floor access, the in-room safe, and the kind assistance from the valet's. I also valued the efforts at recycling and being 'green'. Little touches like - a board that identifies the names of the pets staying or places for recharging devices right beside the bed - actually mean a lot. The hotel was very close walking distance to the King Street Train Station, the Ferry Terminal, Pike Place and even Woodland Park Zoo was not too far away by cab. The attached bar/restaurant is beautiful and the bartender's are Master's at concoction. I found a great deal on hotwire, but many I talked to are regular's and I understand why. I would stay again gladly. SUCH comfy beds and pillows!!! In a (or my rather ;) perfect world there would be coffee available in the room rather than in the lobby or through room service. This is a tiny mention though as the room's are mindfully appointed and decorated and I had to search my mind to think of what could be improved. read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago and had a blast! Came in pretty late from a somewhat delayed flight from SF and arrived soaking wet from the typical Seattle rain outside. While I was wet, I didn't mind it as I was "warmed up" by the staff's warmth and hospitality. At check-in, I was upgraded to a Monte Carlo Suite, which was very nice as well. In my room I had my welcome amenity waiting for me, which was exactly on point to my exact personal preferences. Most of the Kimpton hotels I've stayed at have provided a welcome amenity that was pretty close to my personal preferences, but Hotel Monaco in Seattle was the first to get my favorite sweet, snack, AND drink 100% correct. Props to them to the staff at Hotel Monaco Seattle for paying attention to these little details. Hotel Monaco Seattle is similar to all other Hotel Monacos I've stayed at -- clean, well appointed, and swanky. The Monte Carlo Suite has two "rooms", a bedroom and a living room area,which are separated by a bulky silver curtain that is hard to pull. I kind of wished that there was a door instead of a curtain since it would help with blocking out any sound that might come in from the main room door. As a solo traveler, I definitely had plenty of space to lounge, sleep, and roll around to my heart's content. As for the bathroom, it's housed with Gilchrist & Soames bath products (in dispenser format) which I believe are part of the "Spa Collection" line -- by the way these bath products smell super good. I just wanted to mention that the front desk staff, like at all Kimpton chains, is superb. The staff knew how to make me feel welcome and made my stay an enjoyable one. If I'm in the Seattle area again, I would definitely consider staying here again and continue my good experiences that I've already had at the Hotel Monaco! read more

One of the worst experiences I have had with a hotel. Terrible management and customer service. Provided us a room that was uninhabitable due to its condition (so smoke filled it was impossible to be in there). When we asked for another room, they told us none was available and left us without anywhere to stay at 10:30 at night with my family. After that, we have received no communication or apologies from management. If you have any other option, do not stay here. read more
