Toronto has the feeling of a a smaller version of NYC. Lots of tall buildings, water, and a very international feeling. The Kimpton on St. George is a tall older hotel. It is in the heart of downtown. The lobby and interior is reasonably fresh and maintained but small. It has a restaurant/bar used for breakfast and as a nightclub for late night drinking. The elevator area feels cramped. They don't have a concierge. The front desk staff were friendly. Interestingly, the main entrance is on the side of the building and not on the front. When walking down St. George you don't see any signage that identifies the hotel. It is very close to the University of Toronto, the main city museum and a shoe museum. You read that right, a "shoe" museum. Lots of shopping nearby.and in walking distance. The suite I stayed in was large and nicely furnished but not "new" nor elegant, The bathroom should have had a larger sink/counter area for a hotel suite. The room(s) on the 12th floor were clean and quiet. It is pricey but that is usually the case in big cities. I would give it 3 1/2 stars and would not hesitate to return. read more

I recently stayed at the Kimpton Saint George Hotel, and the overall experience was really great. The hotel's location is a huge plus. It's right in the city center, within walking distance of the Bata Shoe Museum, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, making it incredibly convenient. It's perfect for someone like me who enjoys exploring. The rooms have a cozy yet stylish design; not overly extravagant, but very comfortable. The bed was great, and I slept soundly through the night. The atmosphere in the public areas was also nice, with a touch of understated thoughtfulness. Another thing that impressed me was their restaurant, The Fortunate Fox. It was much better than expected, not just the kind of place you'd find in a hotel restaurant. If you don't want to go out to eat, eating at the hotel is perfectly fine. I heard they also have a happy hour (with complimentary drinks), which I didn't happen to experience, but it was a nice bonus, and I definitely want to try it next time. Overall, this is a hotel that won't disappoint and might even offer some pleasant surprises. If you're looking for a well-located, comfortable place to stay in Toronto that's not too "commercialized," consider this place. I'd consider coming back! read more

Location, location, location -- this Kimpton truly delivers. Right in the heart of Yorkville, you're steps from everything: the Bata Shoe Museum across the street, several more museums along Bloor, the University of Toronto right next door, and endless restaurants and shops in every direction. One of my favorite features of this property is the heated garage. As a Diamond Elite member, I always appreciate how many dedicated spots they offer -- it makes arriving and parking completely stress-free. The staff is consistently kind and accommodating. Everyone I've interacted with has been eager to help and genuinely welcoming. There's also a small bodega tucked behind the front desk with snacks, wine, and the occasional branded item, which is super convenient. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. We usually book a suite with a living room and bartop seating, which gives us plenty of room to relax. The bathrooms aren't huge, but the tubs are great for soaking, and they're perfect for getting ready for a night out. The only downside on our last stay was the water pressure, which seemed a bit low -- likely due to the wet-room setup. Wine hour from 5-6 p.m. is always a highlight. They partner with a local winery to pour both a red and a white, which feels so much more thoughtful than a generic corporate bottle. It's a fun way to meet the staff and other guests, if you're in the mood. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the heating and cooling systems work exactly as they should. Despite the busy streets below, noise was never an issue -- being on a higher floor definitely helps. And one of the absolute best parts: they're truly pet friendly. No fees, no fuss, just open arms for your furry family members -- which is unheard of in Toronto hotels. Our cats came along and happily snoozed the day away. What a beautiful property! I stayed here recently for a work trip and chose it because im an IHG girlie but I honestly would recommend it to everyone! Location wise its right near the university of Toronto but is a very short walk to both the metro and streetcar which made getting around the city a breeze! And its right across from the Bata shoe museum which is such a gem of a place, if you have time you must visit! During my stay the staff went above and beyond to accommodate any request I had and the place is decorated adorably and SOOOOOO clean! I didnt get a chance to use the gym while I was there but i did check it out and it had everything I needed! The nightly social hour with wine and pizza was the perfect touch. I loved every moment of staying here and I cant wait to come back! read more

The Kimpton Saint George is a stellar example of IHG's top hotels. It is located in Toronto on Bloor Street, very close to high end shopping, the University of Toronto, and attractions like the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Like most Kimptons, there is a focus on art, and in this hotel music as well. In regard to the latter, my suite had a really nice Teac turntable with powered speakers and an eclectic selection of vinyl! I sat back and listened to some albums, and that was very nice. My rooms were amazing, and the cleaning staff kept them that way throughout my stay. The staff in general were really helpful and personable, and guided my experience of Toronto. They helped me find great things to do, and find the necessities in the area. The property also has a on-site restaurant called The Fortunate Fox, which was better than I expected. I'll review that separately, but if you are a IHG Rewards Member that can qualify for free breakfast, I would highly recommend that as your amenity. read more

***4.5 Stars*** Pleasantly surprised by Kimpton Saint George. The Kimpton brand is not really boutique, since they have numerous hotels (80+) internationally, but I guess it's the personalized and more intimate feel that IHG wants to convey to their guests. The hotel has a sort of clandestine and speakeasy kind of vibe. It's easy to miss on the street and its location is less obvious in the Annex neighborhood (on Bloor Street just north of the University of Toronto campus and West of Yorkville). I actually enjoyed staying at this location since my friend was getting married at Casa Loma and lives at Manulife Center, both nearby. I could not tell that this Kimpton was a former Holiday Inn, which I guess is a good thing. Kimpton Saint George is physically smaller than the other Kimpton Hotel I visited in Cayman Islands (Seafire). It gives the hotel a cozy but upscale vibe. I am most impressed about the service and friendliness of employees at Kimpton Hotels thus far. The staff is very welcoming. I ran into cleaning staff in the elevator and she offered me chocolates and extra water. I was also impressed with the hotel's happy hour. Even though it's a small production, it was nice to "pre-game" a bit with wine and flatbread pizzas (which were actually delicious). This makes me think that the attached restaurant is actually decent. I would definitely stay here again. I used a free night which helped with cost. I think I paid $400 for the other night. Value-wise, there may be better options, but it suited me needs and made it a convenient home base for my friend's wedding weekend. If you can find a room at Saint George for $200-300 USD, I say give it a try. read more

This hotel is a literal gem and might be one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in. The location is fabulous on Bloor. I loved how close it was to the University of Toronto, a variety of restaurants, a short uber ride to most neighborhoods, and across the street from the BATA Shoe Museum. There's also a tiny bodega next door in case you forgot something! The staff at the Kimpton are exceptional. After a series of frustrating flight changes (which essentially brought us into the area very early), the staff was kind enough to get us into a room ahead of schedule, which was SO deeply appreciated (we were basically running on empty at that point). Everyone we met was so kind, so courteous, and so special. They really set the bar high for me on future hotel stays. The rooms themselves are sleek and modern with comfortable beds and lots of natural light. Our room was quiet and very home-like. It felt good to come back here and relax. The hotel has nice facilities, including an attached restaurant called The Fortunate Fox, which will certainly do the trick when needed. The lobby had a nice happy hour, and every day we came back the staff treated us like family. We would absolutely stay here again! read more

I've stayed at a lot of Kimpton properties, and after my stay at the Saint George, I can confidently say that this Kimpton is my favorite one. The location is great, close to Bloor Street and a few museums and gardens. A+ for visitors visiting the university. Upon our arrival at valet, the attendant was really helpful. Parking was reasonable and easy, despite the construction going on in the street currently. Then we had an excellent experience at the front desk. Although there was a wedding going on, and the lobby was crowded, we felt welcomed and important. We were traveling with our dogs and we were even given a free gift for our pups at check in via a partnership that the hotel had. Impressive! We originally booked a King room but upgraded to a one-bedroom suite at check-in. It was so worth it. Our room faced the street, but it was really quiet. The room has a bar area, where we were able to sit and eat, and a comfortable sofa (I think it turned into a sofa bed but we didn't utilize it) in the main area. It was really spacious, which we appreciated. The bedroom was equally spacious, with a comfortable bed and comfortable sheets. The bathroom had an enormous bathtub - which was the highlight. The only thing that was disappointing was the water pressure for the shower head. Lastly, the service was top-notch. I was very impressed at the attentiveness of the staff. We needed a few things from them, and they always delivered with a great hospitable attitude. My husband likened it to staying in Beverly Hills in comparison to a different hotel we stayed in that was located within the Entertainment District. I agree! read more

I don't think I've stayed in a hotel with such great service ever. It was pretty high tech too. They have a little robot that will bring things to your room. When I arrived there was still 2 hours before their wine hour which is between 5:00 and 6:00 where they serve free wine and people can mingle. When I stated on check-in that darn it I have to wait 2 hours for the wine I was joking but the gal handed me a free bottle of wine. I had requested a bathtub and I got one and it was a great bathtub I felt like a little kid because it was so big with my head poking out of the top. The front desk woman also gave me some free bath salts! They presented my dog with his own care gift package so I love how dog friendly they were! In his gift bag he got a bag of treats which were banana chips so my dog was not a fan he's a bit of a meat lover. It also had a stuffed toy and a towel!! The area was mostly ecology but a few blocks up is Eataly and I was in heaven there! And that same area there's a ton of great shopping too! I loved at the bath products and they weren't in little individual bottles which I think all hotels should Skip those little individual bottles. They have a list of amenities that you can call down and ask for like a coffee machine in case you missed the coffee hour or you want to sleep in. I highly recommend this place read more

When I travel to Toronto for leisure, I love staying in the Yorkville area. It was my first time staying at this hotel. I booked a room for three (1 adult and two teens), we had enough space inside for everyone. The hall of the building is really welcoming. We arrived really late, after midnight and the service was on point. Yorkville Sonesta is usually my go to in that area but this is definitely a contender. read more

I'm not a big fan of hotels. I like my own bed and space but obviously to travel I have to sleep somewhere other than my bed :D! My travel agent provided this hotel as an option and I liked the location so went with it. It's located right across from the Bata shoe museum. And walking distance to the St George and Spadina train stops. That was the best part since I used the ttc to get around mostly. The hotel room was clean. Liked the shower. Glass entry but no door. The comforter on the bed seemed too big. When I pulled them out to get in bed it would hang on the floor. Not a huge deal but a bit strange. Service was good. I did order room service as there is a restaurant on the 1st floor. So expensive. $50 for nachos and bottle water (and additional fees). Room doesn't come with water you have to ask the front desk. They should give that up front or put in the rooms. 2 complimentary bottles. Free coffee and tea in the morning. Wine tastings in evenings but I didn't get a chance to attend Overall it was a fine hotel. I'd stay again mainly due to the location and cleanliness. read more

Excellent boutique hotel with courteous and friendly staff located in a vibrant section of Toronto. We were within walking distance to several museums, restaurants and shops. Kimpton hotels are pet friendly; however, the Saint George staff treated our 3 pups with first class service as they were each gifted their own bag that contained a plush towel, a bag of treats, potty pick up bags and a pup toy. We also enjoyed their daily complimentary wine hour as they served a local Pinot Noir that was a perfect balance (not too sweet/dry). This hotel's building may look average on the outside, but step inside and you're greeted to a modern, clean, bright, welcoming lobby with the reception directly to your right upon entering. I stayed here on two different occasions - one in late April, and in mid-May following a flight itinerary change that left me stranded in Toronto for a night. Both stays were excellent. This hotel is in an excellent location in the Yorkville neighbourhood, located near great (although pricey!) restaurants, some museums, the University of Toronto, The Royal Conservatory, etc. It is also located a stone's throw from the TTC's St. George Station, served by Lines 1 and 2. Staff are very friendly and welcoming - another minor detail to note is that there is almost always someone by the door to hold it open for you. Wow. The hotel is very secure in that you need to scan your room key in order to operate the elevator. Rooms are very modern, clean, and spacious, something that matters most to me (how big a room is). The bed is very comfortable. Toiletries are provided inside hotel rooms. The shower is spacious but there is no door. There is also a restaurant conveniently attached to the hotel, and yes, you can charge meals to your hotel room. (Don't try to call them though, in my experiences, they have NEVER picked up the phone.) Looking forward to the next time I need to stay in Toronto! This hotel will be it if business takes me to the Downtown/Yorkville area. read more

What an adorable hotel tucked away at Bloor and Spadina. I booked a last minute overnight in the city using the hotwire secret hotel website and got a decent rate. This hotel was modern and clean. The reception area is quite small but gives a boutique feel. The room had 2 queen beds and was decorated quite nicely. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was upgraded with gold fixtures and nice tile. They offer coffee until 11am in the lobby. I would stay here again if I needed to in the area! read more

I'm a big fan of Kimpton properties, in California and now Canada. From what they tell me, Sant George is the first Kimpton hotel in the whole country to the north. Pretty cool, 'eh? On the way from the airport to Yorkville, my taxi driver explained that this was a former Holiday Inn. And even with the updates, it's very clear that there was a recent rehab with the "old bones" of a more dialed down building. That being said, my stay at the Saint George was pretty nice. Rooms are large! Having stayed in various hotels in Toronto before, I was expecting much smaller accommodations. King sized bed, large desk, side table and two chairs. Most similar-priced rooms would be half the size. Also, very nice views of UT right out the window. Walkable score is relatively high as well, with plenty of shops/cafes/restaurants/museums within a mile (1.6 km for all you Canadians). Yorkville is pretty posh, so you're getting a nice hotel in a nice neighborhood. As with all Kimpton hotels, there's a restaurant connected to the lobby AND complimentary wine/cheese hour from 5-6 pm. Little touches like that are what make this brand of hotels one of my favorites. For $200 USD per night, this was not a bad deal, especially for a new hotel. It's not the fanciest, however the location and overall "price per square foot" make it an ideal stay for Toronto visitors. A nice change of pace to the city centre. read more

My first time in Toronto and I believe I nailed it on where to stay. I was in a good area, just minutes from shopping...nightlife and food. The bedroom was nice and warm. The bed was comfortable. I Uber we everywhere and had no problem catching them from this location. The food in the restaurant is wonderful as well. Try the Poke and Pecan pie + vanilla ice cream! read more

I had a delightful weeklong stay at the Kimpton St George while in Toronto for work. The staff is very friendly and professional, the accommodations are lovely, and the location is convenient to both downtown and many other neighborhoods I enjoyed exploring in the evenings. The small lobby looks swanky, but is comfortable and functional. There's a yoga mat in every room, and you can even request a potted plant! The wine gatherings in the evening are also a nice touch. I did not feel at all like I was in a boring chain hotel, which was a plus for me. Great people, great place. I will definitely stay here again. read more

This is a new boutique hotel in the Annex in Toronto on West Bloor. It is the reincarnation of an older hotel but is now much more upscale. The furnishing and service of the hotel are exemplary. Wine hour is wonderful, front office staff are great. Still a few bugs to work out with the hotel, as there is some need to work on a noisy HVAC system and our room door wasn't' scribed to fit the frame without a good slam or yank/pull. I can't fault it significantly. While I won't rate it separately, the restaurant experience in this hotel needs to be seriously revisited as it doesn't work. It's far from a gastropub which I think it is billed as, and to visit for evening or late dinner and to have to contend with bingo or karaoke was a problem. These things do not draw crowds and the staff hates them so why do them. I would also like to state that a negative review here for this restaurant is given to this hotel which it doesn't deserve in m book. read more

Great hotel close to yorkville. Beds are comfortable and bathroom was large. We slept well every night and my daughter slept soundly in the outside room of our suite. Also loved the giant stand alone tub. Made use of that daily. Toto toilets throughout. Yes, I'm into toilets and i love toto. Gym was one of the better stocked ones of the kimptons i've stayed at the past few years. It was almost always empty which is another plus. Valet was super fast every time. Always a plus not waiting around for your car. Very friendly front desk and someone always opens the doors out front. Helpful when you're carrying a toddler and all her accoutrement. Had a microwave brought into the room within 10 min when i called down. Free coffee and tea in the mornings. One complaint is room service doesn't begin until 8am. Super late in my experience. doesn't it often start at 7?? Esp. for business travelers who need to be gone before 8. Anyway we could never wait and had to get breakfast elsewhere. Overall excellent hotel and very helpful staff. read more

LOVE staying here! I'm from Los Angeles and travel to Toronto for work monthly. I always stay at the Saint George. The rooms are nicely decorated and just the right size. Staff is the best part of my stay. They are always ready to help! Food at the attached restaurant is OK. Toronto is known for it's good food. This one is mediocre but the convenience of going up to my room after drinks makes me forgive the bland menu. Get the fried pickles! Staff is always changing- I don't understand why. Stayed here for two nights with the lady on a fast Toronto getaway weekend. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. My amenity made me laugh as it's was Cheetos and red wine which is really all I could have asked for on this dreary weekend. Had a suite, which was a wonderfully large space with a giant tub that my girlfriend took advantage of. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was well appointed and decorated nicely. Really appreciated the record player with Joni Mitchell album which was wonderful to use while reading and sipping wine. Fortunate Fox is the hotel restaurant and bar which made some great cocktails and food. We only had the pretzels and the prime rib poutine which were both delicious. I would get the entrees were excellent as well. If I had to have an issue it's that I wish the windows were cleaner, which I know seems petty, but whenever I have a room with a view, dirty windows are always noticeable. Overall would definitely return to St. George in Toronto and I'm excited to see the Kimpton experience expanding internationally. read more

Nice hotel, nice rooms, ok restaurant (which is really a pub), but it's scary. When my friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights we had really weird water problems. Whenever it was on for anything more than a minute, we got burned. Seriously! It went from warm to broiling hot in a second - for no reason! It happened a few times while we were there so we told the front desk, but we could tell they weren't going to do anything. It didn't happen every time we turned on the water, but it happened enough times that I wouldn't take a chance by going there again. Other than that, the hotel was in a really nice neighborhood. Really close to downtown and lots of cool cafes and restaurants. read more

A group of friends and I settled on Toronto on a whim for a double birthday trip and happened to choose the Kimpton St. George by chance. We were booking pretty blindly as none of us had ever been to Canada, but all had high hopes and standards of getting nice AND clean accommodations. We were all so delighted upon our arrival to this beautiful boutique hotel, which definitely was all that we could have hoped for and more! The rooms are spacious, stylish and we loved the little touches like the super cute golden mini speaker in the room (looking for one for myself now). It made for awesome jam sessions while getting ready :) The rooms are pretty much soundproof, never heard a sound from anywhere around. The beds were super comfortable and a friend repeatedly commented on how much she loved then linens. The bathroom was beautiful and chic-- loved the tub/shower! Everything was very clean and I'm a clean freak so if I'm saying it, it's true! And the cleaning staff truly went above and beyond everyday to keep it spectacular. Every time we arrived back to the hotel, arriving to such a tidy space was a breath of fresh air! The staff at the hotel was also very nice. Super special shoutout to Stefan in the concierge who was so kind and hospitable even amongst our million questions. He gave the best suggestions on where to eat(his picks were really authentic and delicious), things to do(sights to see, places to visit, great music and vibes... I think everyone in Canada has rhythm) and brought popcorn birthday treats and the nicest birthday wishes note! He and Richard at the front desk really made our birthday! He was there during the days and when we arrived back late at night, Richard was always there with a smile! He even took group photos for us-- girls gotta get their photos :) These two men really stood out and I wouldn't be surprised if they are constantly celebrated for their service or have been previously awarded for customer service. Hopefully the hotel reads these reviews and a message of great thanks reaches them! In general, everyone on the staff was truly helpful and cheery. From the front desk to the restaurant, which we also visited-- The Fortunate Fox. The food was great, the daily specials were key, the birthday shots were fun and the PECAN PIE WAS PHENOMENAL! My friends also loved the Apple Crumb. Do yourself a favor, order the Poutine and don't skip dessert. Overall, our stay was so great and I would suggest this hotel to everyone. Nice looking and clean hotel, mostly nice staff except for a few at the front desk but this place is not for anyone on a work trip -- bizarrely doesn't have room service until 7 am. And it's bad. The coffee arrives in a paper cup, the egg order is always cold and wrong and yet it's $70. Outside food delivery service isn't allowed to the room so even hot delivered coffee stays downstairs in their purgatory unless you specifically ask that it is brought up while hot. Deliveries to the hotel stay behind the front desk on the floor, not in a locked off area, and you have to go down and ask for it to be found. Loud annoying lobby bar. There are no amenities at the hotel such as a spa, someone to steam/alter clothes. There isn't even a water bottle left in the room or a snacks mini bar. Again, most of the staff are nice but it's a behind the times place, there are way better in Toronto, go there instead. read more

This is a really amazing hotel. The design, decor and elegance are outstanding. The rooms even have record players in them which is quite a throwback to another era. It was nice to put on a record and jam out for a bit. The bathroom has a soaking tub and shower. Both were phenomenal not only in design but in usability. Amazing views, great mini bar and wonderfully soft bed with Bluetooth speaker that instantly connects to your phone. This hotel has been completely redone and it's fantastic. I can't say enough about that. It's apparent that the meticulous attention to detail really shines through. The staff is super friendly and professional. I wanted for nothing. There are plenty of cool shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and the best of the best in Toronto is only a short cab ride away. read more

She did this without asking us if we wanted food or drinks. I ordered 1 beer and gave her a $10. We then went on to bet $300 on our dart game. They really should have been nicer to us. read more

This hotel is awesome. First of all, it's beautifully renovated. The staff were very kind and helpful, there were lovely little things that made it feel quite luxurious: quality soap, shampoo and so on, headphones for the exercise machines, an umbrella in the room, a yoga mat in the room, and a lovey card letting you know they've got you if you've forgotten something. The food was good too! Overall this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot! read more
