Was referred to this mechanic by someone I recently met. After listening to his glowing review of Kim's I decided to give this place a try. Months and months of struggle dealing with dealers, Audi dealers in particular and sheer exasperation finally drove me into the "arms" of Kim's Automotive. I DID have a good experience with a previous mechanic but he and I grew tired and since the dealership was involved in this "triangle" of sorts I decided it was time to cut the cord. Right before New Years 2021 I deposited my Audi 2014. This started out 2022 with absolutely no car at all for me. Needless to say I was quite depressed about the the whole car situation. I knew that the dealer(s) that had been involved with assessing, analyzing the problems and promoting solutions to the problems were taking me down a "yellow brick road" of dreams and I wasn't going to get a straight answer nor a solid fix no matter what I tried... There was an issue with a gas pump, gas module and whatever else... it was a small issue until the dealer(s) involved turned it into an even bigger issue and actually caused more problems to erupt on the car. I was horrified! The last several months I spent just being tormented by the situation involving my Audi. After several weeks and then it turned into months, I finally found this mechanic, Kim's Automotive. It was a miracle that I found this place really! Effran and his wife were extremely professional and warm towards me when I brought the car in. I was nervous about everything especially after dealing with one shyster move after another. In fact, even my friends who are so called car experts couldn't believe what I had been through with this car.. they were appalled. Effran was extremely patient, listened, did his own homework on the car and was able to unearth, very hard to find, rare parts, parts that are not made anymore for the car. I was amazed! I'm SO happy and RELIEVED to have found an ethical, reliable, honest, hardworking mechanic who decided to fix the car instead of trying to sell me a "bill of goods". Do not go here the owner is a fraud and his mechanic stole car interior parts from my Range Rover evoque the dummy left his evidence in my car that he used to take it off in my glove box with a dryer sheet thinking I wouldn't notice , to hide his fingerprints .I asked the owner and he acted like he didn't know and his wife was right in front of him in the front office .Horrible I should of called the cops on them for stealing car parts from me , save yourself the hassle and go to a actual good shop where you can trust . I was referred to Kim's Automotive by someone. This turned out to be one of the most positive experiences I've had with a mechanic. The owner figured out the issue and called me with an estimate early in the day. He estimated it would take a few hours. The price and time estimates were accurate, and he called me when the job was done. At my request, his techs gave the rest of my car a look over and explained to me in a comprehensive way what else they found. He did not try to push any additional repairs on me. Instead, he told me what to expect and that they will keep an eye on things when I take my car there for oil changes in the future. Been there twice and both times they screwed my car up. Once they left the Overflow radiator bottle lying up on top of the engine. Then when they did the oil change they put the filter on wrong and now I have many grease spots all over the garage and they won't come out. When I went back to show them I had grease all over they said it was the gasket on the oil pan (very expensive) and they could fix it. Around $500. I found an honest person who took a look and said it was a filter put on incorrectly that was leaking all over. He changed it, wiped the oil pan off and guess what... no more oil leaks. The floor of the garage is now a disaster from their sloppy work. (Sloppy twice.. be aware!) read more

He only fixed what needed to be fixed, and advised me of things I needed to fix in the future. He was so pleasant, seemed honest and trustworthy, and his prices are reasonable. Effran and company worked on my mom's 2013 Lexus RX 350, full brake job, rear hatch shocks and rear wheel shocks. They did a terrific job for a good price. My van computer told me that I had a medium severity Evaporative Emission System Leak. I've had the warning light on for about five days. I was in Mexico at the time when it started. I stayed at a friends last night, because the problem was getting worst and I didn't want to drive all the way back to northern Orange County. Not knowing anyone around here, I chose Kim's Automotive for how many positive reviews they had. When I got to Kim's via Lyft, I told him the problem and he said he'd let me know later on in the afternoon what he found. That was about 11:30 a.m. or so. I had Lyft pick me up from the auto place and take me back to my friend's apartment. I was surprised to hear from Kim's about 4:00 p.m. I figured I would be stuck without a vehicle tomorrow for Thanksgiving. As it turned out the mechanic could not find anything wrong and attributed it to a computer glitch somewhere. The mechanic simply rebooted everything and the light indicator went away. Even though he kept my van for two hours, when I came to pick it up he stated that even though he didn't find anything, he wasn't comfortable charging me for not finding anything wrong with my van. Wow! In this day and age, who does that? Nobody. Even though I live in O.C. if I'm every in this area, and I have any vehicle issues, you can be sure I'll come to Kim's Auto before going anywhere else. read more

I've been a customer of Mike's for many years now, and he and his crew have never let me down. They're busy for a reason, people! Because of that, be realistic and prepare to leave your vehicle with them, find a ride to resume your life, and arrange to pick it up later. I had a problematic Nissan 300ZX a few years ago that was totally hosed up by my local Nissan dealership -- who ultimately told me the car needed a new engine. You truly can't ask for more then what you get from Kim's. They are honest, fair, and hard working. My mother lives alone in the desert and over the past year she has unfortunately run into a number of issues with her BMW. During this period Kim's and in particular Eric have gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping her. I told him my make and model of my car and he quoted me a price... when I took my car to the shop all of a sudden the price raised because he said that I HAVE TO HAVE SYNTHETIC OIL in my 2013 Honda Civic.. umm why didn't you tell me that over the phone? Kim's is amazing. I was told by Big O tires (where I currently live in Costa Mesa) they said I need 700$ worth of stuff done. I was headed to the desert for fashion week. So I couldn't get things done so I denied and took it to Kim's for a second opinion. Turns out that I only needed front brake pads and some resurfacing done. A cost of 1/3 of what Big O was saying. Cory and everyone was so helpful and completely friendly. They are the best. I recommend everyone go there. After reading such great reviews on yelp for Kim's I decided to take my Toyota Tundra in to have an oil leak checked. Jiffy Lube told me it was the oil pan but after putting my truck on the lift they realized it was not that but was a valve cover gasket instead they quoted my a price which was incredible. Dealers would have charged me twice as much. They took me home and picked me up. They repaired both valve covers and changed the oil. They even gave me a 10% discount for new customer. But when we believed we were being ripped off* by their service department, we decided to give someone else a try and called Kim's Automotive. (*Please see my review on Toyota of the Desert) I am so glad we did! These people have integrity. They have been servicing our car now for more than two years. We have always dealt with Michael. It's so great to find someone who will stand by their work 100%. One problem we had reoccurred about two months later and Michael agreed that he should look at it again. It was certainly not an easy problem to fix, requiring a lot of time, so for them to stand by their work and not offer excuses is something that defines the word "integrity". He also took some time to give me a quick outline on what services my car should have in the future to keep it in tip top condition for the long haul since I don't plan on ever selling my car. I dropped the car off, went to grab some lunch with a friend and they called me when my car was ready. When I got my car back, all the fluids were topped off and the car ran as smooth as ever. Kim's saved our car! 100% competent, honest, helpful service. And inexpensive compared to anything else we know. Our 2001 Prius Gen 1 car with 170,000 miles got three warning lights, almost at the same time. We took it to one mechanic and he said he couldn't help us because he couldn't get parts from Toyota. So we took it to a desert Toyota dealer. The codes said we needed about $4,300 in repairs. The car already had the battery replaced a couple years ago. Diagnostics said DC-DC converter, etc., were bad. Obviously a car we just paid $3800 for wasn't going to get that kind of investment. Our Phase 2 began (plan B). I went online and found a 2011 blog that said it could be the thermostat, a $30 part repair. Kim's did that. It didn't work. But that led to another chain of thought. If it was a heating/cooling problem at the root, and the thermostat wasn't bad, what about the water pump (or something like that)? Kim said he had a good feeling about that, and we said, "Go for it, do the surgery!" They were so helpful. We had NO options. The brain surgery was successful. Toyota computers from a dealer may tell the dealer what's wrong. The dealer prices replacing the whole magilla. Kim's is the kind of mechanic we had in the past. People who care, do a great job, expertise from extensive wide experiences with a variety of cars. Pricing was extremely fair. They fixed the problem by creative, resourceful thinking, and a bit of tinkering to get the root of the problem. I just picked Kim's out of search options available on Yelp.com!!!
