Very nice and efficient and very good haircuts for a reasonable price. Clean place and the barbers are friendly.

A nice gem tucked away in an unlikely strip mall. They are very welcoming, polite, and efficient. The grand finale to my cut was a lovely steaming hot towel cleanup. That was super refreshing and got rid of the pesky little trimmed hairs that make me feel icky after a haircut. The price for a men's haircut at $20 is way below what you might find elsewhere around here. This is my new go to place for haircuts from now on. Only thing to keep in mind is that parking can be a little tricky at times. read more

Can't beat this $18 haircut (for women)!!!! Although they accept both walk-ins and appointments, I called in the same day at 4pm and got an appointment for 5pm. Kim was super friendly. She's very pleasant to talk to. My haircut took 20 mins, but Kim was extremely precise and made sure my cut is straight. Great customer service! I enhoyed my experience here. This shop has been here for years. They mostly cut men's hair here but they can also cut women's hair. read more

I've been 3 times now, had 2 different barbers and I've gotten good haircuts each time. I had Choi twice and Eunice once, I'd recommend either one. 18$ is a reasonable price for a men's haircut and I haven't had to wait long on any of my visits. The downsides are the parking and that you can't put tips on credit card, tips have to be in cash. The upside is the hair cut. I also like how they lather and shave the back of your neck with each haircut. read more

NOT GOOD!!! AVOID!!!!!! I had my first haircut here with Chan. I gave this place a try due to great reviews online... but it was a total mess in reality!! There was a few people waiting. But my que came up and Chan greeted me, bring me to his chair. I don't think he understands English. I tell him not too short, he cut it too short. When I said "this is too short" .. he said "more short? OK" and then kept on cutting. I came out looking like a military guy!! Beside that.. both side of my head is not even!! The top of my head was flat 1 cm... My hair has never been this short before and one side is longer than another.. .. If I wanted a hot-mess military style, I would go to Military camp.. and not spend $16 + tips here.. what a waste!!! I end up going to another salon after to spend another $35 just for them to fix the mess that Chan made.. I will not be going back and I urge anyone reading to avoid this place. My husband used to come here a lot back when he still had hair for their great prices and cuts. I figured I'd give them a try since I just wanted a quick trim and I remember seeing plenty of female hair dressers. I don't like all the fuss at other salons and they gave me a great cut for only $20. Love this place would definitely recommend if you're low maintenance and just wanna go in and out. read more

I have been a regular at Kim's Barber Shop for several years, where Sophia has always cut my hair. My hair is a challenge for tonsorial artists so when I find one who can handle it I stick with them. When I called today I was told that Sophia had retired. This shop is a bit cramped and parking can be challenging so I set out to find another barber shop. I was absolutely delighted to find Sophia at Bel Pre Barbers and Stylists in Plaza Del Mercado. She is as cheerful as ever and she did a fabulous job. Worst haircut ever I ask for a trim and they give me a buzzcut not touching the scissors once. They gave me a 1 when I asked for six. This woman had no clue what she was doing I could cut hair better with my eyes closed. Also, this woman didn't speak English or Spanish. read more

Honestly, I used to go to a place in D.C., paid $53.00, and felt it was styled appropriately for someone my age. Little did I know that Sophia could do a better job for $14.00. I have curly hair that is difficult to cut well in the best of circumstances and it had grown particularly unruly during the pandemic since I had been reluctant to have it cut. This is, by far, the best barber shop in Montgomery County. I would go as far as to say the Best in the state, but I haven't been to every barber in Maryland. Nor will I, to any of them. This is the only barber shop I trust. I currently reside in Arlington, VA and still only go to Kim's. Albeit I do have family that lives only a 2 minute drive from the shop I will go months until I have the opportunity to visit Kim's. Pros: * The employees are always extremely friendly and greet you with a smile on their faces. * Each Barber invests as much time on your haircut until they are satisfied with their work, a quality you would expect from an artist. If you aren't fully satisfied, which is only applicable to the length in which they cut it, it is because you didn't communicate enough to them what you wanted. They'll gladly continue working until you are satisfied * Bringing in a picture of the style you desire is practically a guarantee they will achieve it flawlessly. * Hien and Sophia are seemingly always there. The pair, as well as Kim are just as good as the next. My particular favorite is Sophia but that may be due to her mastery of cutting very thick hair with surgical accuracy. The descrepancy of talent there is negligible though. There is also a male barber, whom I believe his name is Tuan. The only reason why he wasn't mentioned before is because he actually takes noticably longer than the others, but that's usually not a bad thing unless you are in somewhat of a hurry. Kim's been cutting my hair for 15 years and I don't know if I'd ever be able to go anywhere else anymore. She's fast and always pleasant. I've had my hair cut by some of the other barbers there, who are generally okay, but if Kim's working, I'll wait 15 minutes for her. The only warning I have is that Kim and her staff are all native Korean's and have thick accents, so they can be difficult to understand if you aren't used to it. read more

After reading the wonderful reviews on Kim, I decided to make an appointment for my boyfriend to get his haircut fixed up. I received excellent haircuts from Sophia until March 2019 when one day she was unexpectedly no longer at Kim's. More peculiar, no one at the barber shop was prepared that day or since to say where she was or what had happened. Thanks to another reviewer, I discovered finally that she had moved to the Bel Pre Barbers and Stylist at the Plaza del Mercado on Bel Pre. She is fine, still giving first rate haircuts, and was silent about the unusual treatment and behavior at her former place of employment. She was, however, delighted to see me and told me of other customers who had found her. Sophia fried my hair with the perm chemical entirely from roots to the tips. I was there for four hours and the cost was $200. It will take at least 3 years to regrow my hair to the same length. I read others' reviews and the five stars are all haircuts. Nobody should go there for anything else. read more
