Since it had been a few days since confirming the late afternoon appointment, I called and sent a text to confirm with Jessica that morning if the scheduled time still looked like when she thought she would arrive, since my wife and I had a long drive to the jobsite as well. I did not hear back from her and called and texted again. Still no reply and left voicemails too. We first got a quote through Costco's company; 5 shutters plus 9 blinds was almost double the cost of doing 10 shutters and 4 blinds and roller shade through Kim. Price alone was completely worthwhile. She was very easy to work with listened to what we wanted. The shutters took less than 3 weeks to be installed from the time we ordered. 3 guys showed up and worked extremely quickly to get everything installed. They wore masks and booties and were careful in our new home (new walls and paint!). Kim even showed up that morning to check on the guys. I can't remember how long they were there, maybe 2 hours? We used Kim's Drapery over 10 years ago to install shutters throughout our entire house and for drapes in the living room. 10 years later, our shutters are still in excellent condition, but the drapes needed to be replaced. As usual, Kim did excellent work and it only took 3 weeks to have the custom drapes with blackout lining made. Where do I begin? I guess I'll start out by saying that I'm so happy to have found Kim on Yelp. I'd been looking for window coverings for my brand new home and wasn't finding the right products. If you are reading this review, I am sure you are like me a few months ago that I have exact idea what I am looking for but I am not sure which drapery stores or designers I should go for. There are so many... First of all, I started with Home Depot and other big stores so on which all have the same tones to answer all the questions with the standard answers. I am not sure they are good or not even though they are huge company. OK, then I started to do research in the internet, and did some yelp search, and finalized to a few drapery companies with good reviews, Kim is one of those in the final list. I then visited her store, and she showed me the samples, and gave me her recommendation, and quote. Well... she sounded sincere and professional enough, and I took the quote home and call a few places. They are offering me the same thing but charge for whole lot more. It does not mean they are bad, the fact is they are just more expensive, realizing the fact that every business have their own way to run their business. OK... based on my gut feeling, and called Kim to come by my place to do the actual measurement, the cost came down a bit because it is the actual measurement, and she also recommended me to have the roller for the patio door which have 10 foot height. I placed the order and after exactly two weeks, the drapers were installed, and in fact those two drapery installer are friendly, and professional. So far, I am a happy camper, and I do recommend Kim to anyone who wants to have good services, good quality of product with a very reasonable cost. Kim is the nicest lady! She helped me and my wife pick out the right window treatment, from shutters to roller shades. She was extremely knowledgeable and was never pushy or impatient. Her hours were flexible and was willing to stay an additional hour or so past closing just to help us. This meant a lot to us. Her prices were also very competitive and selection cannot be beat. Kim is one of the sweetest ladies that I've had the pleasure to work with. She is diligent on her workmanship in being able to deliver first rate window shutters and blinds. We compared 5 other shutter companies before deciding to go with Kim. The other shutter companies were either overpriced, too expensive, had poor quality, or were both expensive and poor quality. One or two of those other companies even tried to up charge me in fees for no reason, called them service and processing fees. My first thought when they did that was to immediately cross them off my list. I don't feel like being charged for miscellaneous fees that have nothing to do with me, the service, or the shutters that I'm purchasing. Kim presented sample shutters that seemed to be the best quality out of the other 5 and her prices are very reasonable, even flexible to meet a client's budget as best she can. She was wonderful to work with. She followed up and followed through with her promises. The average shutter production (since they are custom made to fit your windows) took 8 weeks from time of order placement. It seemed like a long time but now that I have my shutters, I'm so happy waited. They were worth every minute that I had to wait for them to be manufactured. Other shutter companies boasted 2-3 weeks delivery time. Those kinds of shutter companies scare me because I know and have actually visited a warehouse where they manufacture shutters in only a couple of weeks and let me tell you...the quality was NOT GOOD. Be patient and wait, you won't regret it and its worth the quality that you'll be getting. I would definitely recommend her shutters and her services to other's who might be thinking about installing plantation shutters & blinds in their home. She does draperies as well. Her shutter and blinds installer Jack Osterhoudt was also excellent. He took his time and made sure all my windows were installed correctly, securely, and properly. We were very disappointed with her business. We ordered the wood blinds and wood shutters form her. She gave me the soft wood blinds which consider is faux wood blinds. These two products are totally different in price and quality. The soft wood blinds she gave me is cheaper and heavier than wood blinds. We didn't get any discount from our price. Thus, I paid full price to get the cheap product. Second, the size of wood shutters were measure it wrong. In the beginning, I told her exactly how I wanted the shutter to be looked like in the Model Home's. Kim and the shutter factory didn't want to deal with it. In the whole process, I felt so much headache and lots regrets to deal with her. Her price was lower than other vendors. But, price was not a main concern, my sister and I end up going with her with a simple trust, her experience, since she said she's been doing for long time. What a mistake.... huge mistake....her measurement went wrong from begining. All of her blindes are inner mount rather than outer, and all of her blindes are either uneven or cricket. Basically POOR quality. We totally understand why her price was much lower than other vendor measuring everything short size. Few blindes did not even go up, but all she said was someone will contact from Century Blindes, WOW! No one contact my sister, my sister end up contacting Century. Waited few weeks, Century came with corrected few blindes, but finding other blindes same problem... Unbelievable!!! Basically, she did not measure them correctly that most blindes don't roll up or sit evenly. While going through all this mess, NOT a 1 single follow up call was made by Kim. She careless. Blown away.... Once she collect check from you, you are on your own dealing with her poor quality work. Absolutely NO service. Do Not make mistake like us, go with other vendor who has much more quality window treatments with a good service. Kim is NOT recommended and not suitable for her business if she can't even measure correctly and donot even know how to apologize, wow! I called Kim on 09/21/2013 and requested for a shutter quote for my Bay Window. She came, took the measurement and gave a quote. To be honest, I have called a few others companies and the price are very similar, I would say within $50 for a $900 quote. So, price is not an issue. However, I picked Kim because she is responsive, professional. I called her and she showed up a few hours after despite i am in Fountain Valley and she came from Tustin. I was in a hurry because I will have a major event at my house on Nov 2nd. Her installers showed up twice during the process to make sure the measurement is correct (This window is fairly tough to do). Then on 10/18/2013, the shutter was installed, perfectly and professionally. My wife was so happy and decide to stay in the living room most of the times just to look at the new shutter.
