I found this place to be absolutely terrible. I made an appointment and told the front who I was when I entered. I was asked to sit in the pedicure chair and waited 20 minutes at that point I asked when I would be seen since my appointment was 20 minutes ago and they told me that I did not tell him who I was and sent somebody to do my pedicure. Then the person doing my pedicure left because somebody they wanted to do a manicure for came in and somebody else finished my pedicure. I then had a gel manicure. I had to ask for them to do it correctly twice. I first had to ask them to fill in the final polish area near my cuticles. I also had to ask them to trim my cuticles. I ended up leaving without any lotion put on my hands at the end of the manicure. read more

I have been to nail salons that do a crappy job, but this by far is the worst nail salon to go to!! The staff is extremely rude, the owner is rude, and rushes to get things done. I went with a few friends, and they didn't even give us a few minutes to pick out our nail color, just kept telling us to hurry. While we were getting out nails done, we noticed that they do not sanitize their nail cleaning/trimming products. The lady that was working on my nails stated she was going to paint my nails first, and then file my nails and remove the cuticles, its just easier, she said!! These nails came out to be the worst that i have ever gotten, please do not waste your time and money going into this salon. This place should get shutdown for being unclean. Customer service was very disgusting, 4 out of 5 on my nails are bleeding from each side, when i finally lost my patience, the lady working on my nails just laughed and said it was the color. At this salon I have gotten regular manicures, gel manicures, eyebrow and lip waxing, and a deep tissue massage. This review is an accumulation of three years of going to this nail salon. Being that it was a block away from my college and didn't have a car until this year and settled for this place out of convenience. I've had mixed feelings about this place for 3 years, so I've separated my review into positives and negatives; gave it 2/5 because unfortunately the negative outweighs the positive! Side note: This review is 3 years too late, I am new on Yelp, and I haven't gone to this place in MONTHS (and will never go back) but I need to share my experience. I The positive: I have had a few plain manicures I got that were just okay. Nail polish selection is mediocre. There was also a year that I was frequently getting gel manicures (gel nail polish, NOT the monster nails), and those were always great. They were also able to give me a french tip on them for me, which I adore! (I honestly wish I knew the name of the woman who would do it for me, she consistently did a good job and very sweet.) Also one time around christmas time they gave me a "free gift," after a manicure which was a calendar and lotion. Which I thought was just so sweet! Speaking of sweet, the receptionist, whoever it may be, because it's never really seems to be the same person for me to remember, was always nice and polite. I've also gotten a massage, and it was okay. The actual location of the massage area is downstairs, which was surprisingly pretty nice. There was calming music and nice decor. The rest of the experience falls under negative, so read more below: The negative: Like I've said above, I was mainly going to this place because it was so close and whenever I had a break between classes I could just run over there and get my lip or eyebrows waxed, I would never make the trip to there if I was in another area. The wax work was inconsistent, ranging from: just okay, mediocre and just plain horrible. Most of the work was "just okay to mediocre", until the day it got HORRIBLE. This woman took a chunk of hair off top arch of my left eyebrow, and she brushed my hair upward so when I looked into the mirror it look fine, until later in the day I brushed my eyebrow hair in its natural direction and I had a chunk missing! :( I wanted to cry. It's been months, to this day, the hair has yet to completely grow in. Since then I've had to learn how to fill them in with eyebrow pencils, and spent a whole bunch of money on eyebrow cosmetics, because a) I was a newbie and did not know what I was doing or what color matched my eyebrows b) I have thick dark eyebrows, and never felt the need to have to fill them in... until now. Another negative experience was after getting a wax job, I typically paid in cash, but this particular case I brought debit card. For some reason there was a whole ordeal for me to even put the tip on the receipt and apparently was told they do not allow tips to be added to debit purchases; which is unheard of anywhere I have ever been to! The woman who did my job was just so incredibly rude and obnoxious about it, making a scene as if I was purposely not trying to pay her tip. I was so embarrassed over the whole ordeal! She was just horrible to me, every time I came in after that she always shot daggars at me with her eyes! SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I took very big offense to this especially since I am a generous tipper, and because of some shop rule that I was unaware of, she made a point to embarrass me! She got her tip in the end, but still manages to give me dirty looks! What a broad... Again, I wish I knew her name, but all I can say is she was the only non-Asian woman that works there, she had some type of slavic accent if I remember correctly. Back to the negative part of my massage experience: I've gotten a lot of massages in my life time, and it has never been so awkward as it has been at Kim's. I like my massages in SILENCE, the only thing I want to hear is the music, my bones cracking and sound of my own breathing. This woman was nice, but she just wouldn't stop talking. Needless to say I will never go back here for a massage, I will stick to my usual spots. (I got the massage as a gift certificate from a friend, I never thought once to come here on my own.) The massage in general was not satisfactory because she insisted on doing my thighs which I thought was unnecessary especially since I said I mainly wanted it in shoulders and back. Overall this place is just overly priced and the work is inconsistent, which I hate. I want a guaranteed happy and satisfactory job, but this place is just not that. Maybe I've just been unlucky but my honest opinion is if you come here for anything but your nails done, I would advise you otherwise. Location is easily spotted and on a busy street. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS THEY ADVERTISED IN THE WINDOW THEY STAY OPEN UNTIL MIDNIGHT .I got there at 8pm for a fill in was not even acknowledged I had to approach a worker who seemed irritated that I was even approaching her to ask for services was turned away because supposedly it was too late... I would highly suggest not going to this place for many different reasons. The staff is very rude and disrespectful by insulting my nails and complaining and asking for more that just a 25% tip. Just four days after I got acrylics two of the have already fell off and the rest of them are chipping. Overall very bad experience and product. read more

Could not be happier! Hong gave me the best pedicure I've had in years - wonderful scrub, reflexology massage, luxurious lotion and hot towels - and pedi socks to end the treatment. (Oh, and the nails look great!) manicure was just as special. Eyebrow wax perfect. Extended shoulder massage capped off the treatment. They may never be able to get rid of me. I decided to give this place a try because they were next to Umi Sushi. So after my lunch I head on in and the first thing that gets me are the prices. My god they are expensive there, but out of convenience and lack of time I decided to go through with it. I had the awesome luck of getting Frida. Awesome older Russian lady with so much to talk about. It was a pleasure having her take care of my feet and hands and she did an awesome job with my eyebrows. New management? Clearly there is plenty of room for improvements. So I went in for a pedi spa with mani and have both my legs waxed. We had set up for an appointment ahead of time, but I ended up waiting for nearly an hour. My legs were waxed first and never in my life had I felt so rushed and maltreated. The lady scrambled all over the place looking for tools and didn't bother to shut the door for privacy until I told her so. She then slapped my legs harshly a couple of times. She was VERY ROUGH. During pedi spa, I felt as if she was rushing to get things done while the lady next to me was being treated gently and given the attention. She looked like she could relax while I felt mine was rushing and doing a crap job. She didn't clean my nails or file them well. She painted outside of my toes. Oh and the massage was a joke. Paid $61 for the services. I gave $5 tip due to the crap job. I wanted to leave without tipping! That's how terrible it is. Oh and the tools look dirty and the towels were filthy. read more

Just got back from this salon. I'm satisfied with my manicure (O.P.I gel) and regular pedicure. I'm only giving it 3 stars b/c I think my bill was flawed. Firstly, I was trying to select an O.P.I. color to match my toes but couldn't find one. Peter, the person who did my services, suggested I should do the french. What he didn't tell me was it was about $10 more. I found this out when he was done with my nails. Additionally, he told me that my regular pedicure was $23, however, it said $22 on the board. I didn't put up a fight because this was the first salon in this area that I found that did a decent job. Would I go back? eh...maybe, if I can't get to my nail salon in Glendale. read more

I love this place! Beautiful, super clean and open until 11 pm! My 15 year old begged me for gel tips for weeks and I finally relented. They did a great job. But after two hours at hone, she was miserable and wanted them off. So we went back to the salon and they were so nice and took the gel off. Amy is amazing. Highly recommend. read more

Went there today because I really needed a full set done and it was horrible, the nail tech openly talked about me in front of my face because I pointed out that one of the nails were uneven, and she continued the raise the price every time I voiced a concern about her work. Horrible experience. The nail technician was digging her nails on my big toe in order to push the toe downwards to facilitate her effort in painting my toenail. I just flex my toe down, she could had asked or used a different tactic for me to know I had to flex down. The prices are overpriced for the quality of nail colors, and service they provide. When it came to my waxing, I think I made too many requests at once, because when the technician started waxing my bikini line, it felt as if she was (purposely) attempting to rip off my skin. It is sad how much this salon has declined. It's well maintained, pretty, you used to be able to count on a relaxing "spa" experience. Now you can be sure something during your visit will send you into a rage. I haven't seen the owner Joseph there in a long time and he cared about customers. The receptionist this Sunday afternoon, Kay, is one nasty person and I will never go back. My daughter had warned me to avoid Kim's after a couple of her bad experiences and she is right. I get gel manicures all the time so I know how long it takes for the gel to dissolve and Its fine if the manicurist uses the waiting time to fold towels or have tea, whatever. This manicurist did not want to wait for the gel on my nails to dissolve so she started scraping with a blade. When I objected she got up and walked away. 10 minutes later my nails are ready and I ask the manager where my manicurist is and she tells me she is doing another customers pedicure and I'll have to wait since I didn't want my nails scraped. When I objected the manager told me the manicurist wasn't going to sit around and waste her time looking at me. If I didn't want my polish scraped off I could just wait. There's more to this but you get the picture and i don't want to get worked up again. PS I also experienced the review below on an earlier visit when I asked another manicurist not to cut the cuticles on my toes but she proceeded to do so even as I asked her to stop. I don't think she understood English, I didn't want to touch her or pull my foot away and the manager just kept on texting on her phone ignoring the situation. Over. Done. I received a birthday gift card from my bro in law & used it twice on separate occasions, both are walk-ins 'coz of my schedule with the kids, I go when i get a chance...it's a hit or miss, the first time I liked it, the lady who did my mani/pedi was good, I asked her to clean it well & the massage included was good...the second time, the lady was so-so, the 15 min massage that I asked extra was ok, I guess, it depends on who is doing it, I have no problems with their staff, they are all nice, polite & doesn't bother you when your on the chair which I prefer 'coz I want to relax...the prices are a little more, quality is ok, but I had better service @ other nail salons... read more

I had a two part experience tonight. The great think is that I walked in without an appt and was seen right away during the evening. I got a pedicure but feel that the person doing it was unenthused. She scrub ed lightly and almost as of she didn't want to be doing what she was doinf. I didn't get her name. Almost reconsidered getting my acrylic nailed filled in but glad I did. Had a great experience with Jessica. She filed and buffered my nails so they didn't look as thick (the original place did my nails way too thick and wide). I was happy she did that without me asking. ****PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE**** The appearance of the store makes it seems like the employees of Kims Nail salon might know what theyre doing. The interior of the salon is nice but the same can not be said about the employees. My sister and I came to get tips and pedicures 4 days prior her wedding day. Needless to say they did not do the job right. On two of my fingers, the technician did not file it properly which didn't make it look smoothly when she applied the nail polish. Instead of the nail going downwards on the tip of the nail it went upwards. When I showed the receptionist that I want to come in to get it fixed right after I saw it in the salon while getting my pedicure after, she said it was because of my nail. I have gotten my nails done plently of times to know if it were my nail or the technician who was at fault. Another lady came in and told her to book me in for the next morning. The receptionist was a very rude young girl. She did not know how to keep her customers happy. 2 days later 2 of my nail came off! I called in because I know all the local nail salons fix it for free within the week of getting it done and she told me she would charge me $10.00 to fix it. In all, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AND SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. My friend had told me after her own horrible experience here. I will never come back here again. read more

Extremely overpriced. Got acrylic tips with design on one finger for $50 only for one nail to pop off 6 days later. (french tips were painted on and some came out so crooked!) Went back to the salon to get a fix for the nail that popped off and fix was another $7. the fix was super rushed. the place looks super fancy inside but you could definitely find a nice place for a lot cheaper. read more

Waited a day to post this review. In short: First women- nice but incompetent. Second women- lazy or incompetent. Third woman- talented. She fixed botched up eyebrows. Either way this was an experience that cost 9.50. Went in for eyebrows. Lady made my eyebrows different shapes. Complained. Lady blamed my eyebrows on face shape. I pointed out that the thickness was objectively different at different parts of my eyebrows. I had her try to fix it for five minutes. Still looked different. Realized she didn't know what she was doing. I freaked. Tell her I want someone else to do my eyebrows. Another employee comes in. She says it's just my face. I once again point out the objective differences. Finally, manager, I think, fixed my eyebrows. She pulls hair from the center which make both eyebrows look the same length at least. Hm, one more thing, I'm not sure if this place cares about standards. I've come here before with good results. But this time, the second lady obviously did not want to fix my eyebrows. Also when I offered the third lady tip, she requested i give it to the first woman. I said I don't give tips for bad work. Maybe Kim's Nail spa has low standards. Been here twice. The first time was fine, nothing special but my nails looked nice. BUUUT the second time I was rushed to sit down, meanwhile there were no other customers in the store. As soon as I sat down my nails were being filed vigorously without even being asked how I wanted them. Coming in, my nails were well taken care of and had an obvious round shape.. this woman filed my nails so short and to a square. I barely had time to ask her to stop, and she wasn't paying any attention to me. I asked her nicely to change that to round but my nails were already shortened by A LOT. Turns out it wasn't her turn to have a customer, so she was just rushing me so no other workers would notice she took me. The other workers DID notice, and that caused a very unprofessional response. Through the rest of the process she was very rough, and even took a break to thread someone's eyebrows. Overall, I would recommend a different salon. For the prices, this place is unprofessional and really nothing great. This was my third visit to this Salon. I come for powder gel polish. When I asked for the woman I like (by description, because I didn't know her name), the receptionist told me she just stepped out, would be right back, and I could sit in her chair. When the tech walked in she was NOT who I asked for but I really needed my nails done so I let her do them anyway. The worst!!! She dipped one hand in the powder three times and did the other hand twice. She then proceeded to mess up the top coat of the thicker nails by touching them repeatedly to see if they were dry. She messed them up herself three times from doing this. Having to fix them over and over made them super thick almost like an acrylic wrap instead of gel polish. I didn't have to soak off the previous polish because I had done so already at home. A service that should have taken 45- 60 mins took 1 hour and 45 mins. The tech then walked me to the front and waited by the register for a tip. I wasn't happy with her work but my intentions were to still tip her through my card because I didn't have any cash. When I saw there wasn't a line on my receipt to tip and asked the receptionist, she told me tips are only in cash. I said "I don't have any cash" and she told me "there's an ATM right here" (behind her). I said "well not with this card. I don't even know the pin to this card." I used a credit card and do not know the pins by memory nor did I want to pay a cash advance fee. My bank, and debit card ATM are right across the street. The receptionist very rudely said "really?", made a face, and slowly gave me back my receipt with my card. Basically attempting to tip shame me for not giving the tech a tip right then and there. Even if I used my debit card for the transaction I still wouldn't have used there ATM for cash, its just such a waist of money for fees. Not to mention the service provided was not good and undeserving of a tip. I left feeling very upset and embarrassed by the behavior of the receptionist. I got into my car and I was going to leave and never come back. But I got out of my car went to my bank and got cash to give the nail tech. My nails were still messed up, and I didn't think it was fair that I would have to be made to feel uncomfortable for not having cash, but didn't receive any acknowledgement that my nails took soo much longer then they should have, and the job done was terrible. Focus on providing better skilled work then the basic only lasts a day wack of a job done now. Put the sign that says Tips are only in cash in a VISIBLE place that is at eye level. Don't be rude to your customers!!!! That's the fastest way to lose them!! Before you judge someone give them the opportunity to do the right thing. I'm NEVER going back to this place. read more

I went in on Saturday for a mani/pedi and full face threading. I had made an appointment with Freda. She took me right away and gave me the best ped that I've had in quite a while. Also, she took her time with the threading and did a terrific job of removing the hair. I had a facial a few weeks ago by Sunny and it was so well done that I am still glowing. Overall the salon, which I have used since 2007, is clean, well run and respectful of your time. read more

I was at shock at what happened today. I stopped by to get a mani and pedi at 7pm. I havent been here so i didnt know who was good. I was told to sit in a chair and a russian lady named Frida started removing my polish. Oh boy was she unpleasant. First of all, no hi hello whats up..anything. She didnt look at me in the eye and just started removing it rudely. At that time i felt uncomfortable and wanted a different lady to work on it. She then proceeded to rush when there were only 2 people in this store. A mani-pedi should at least take 50mins-1hr if youre not doing them together. She managed to finish mine in 35 minutes. (20 on pedi.15 on mani) If she did a good job then i wouldnt have been annoyed. She did a horrible job. She messed up my cuticles. Theres nothing more to that. I really wanted to talk to the owner but he wasnt there. She thought i was going to give her a few dollars for tip so she "jokingly" mentions about tips. She should be lucky i gave her 5.
