After reading the Yelp reviews I totally wanted to check this place out. Located next to 7 devils brewery I ran in to place my order. Prices are cheap and selection is small. I went with the shrimp and veggies and got beef and rice for the lame. Tried to order fresh Spring Rolls but she told me I have to order 5 or more. Not happening since the man doesn't like Spring Rolls and their not good the next week. I witnessed her putting shrimp in the microwave!?! Why?! It takes minutes to stir fry shrimp! After years of wanting to try this place my coworkers & I finally picked up some lunch. For 6 people we only paid around $56 tip included. Super yummy and authentic. I tried the beef stir fry with rice which was delicious. No spice level just a neutral taste. I also tasted the dumplings with noodles which were pretty ok. I find myself getting the Kung pao chicken every other week. It tastes great and you can't beat the price. I call my order in and it's ready in 10 minutes or so. Love it. Just to warn people that haven't eaten here.... Most people expect Kung pao to be on the spicy side but it's very mild here, I personally like that. It's only $6 every day and I doubt I could make this dish from scratch at home for that price! This is a great hole in the wall place for Chinese food. There are a few items to choose from and then a daily special. I had the curry chicken with rice and it was delicious! The curry wasn't spicy. The king pao chicken is also good and has a slight kick to it. Each meal comes with white rice and mixed veggies. The market also has different sauces and items for sale. Having come from a larger city with many Asian supermarkets to choose from, I was a bit disappointed in North Bend/Coos Bay only had one. So naturally I had to check it out. While first impressions can lead you away, I think one should look at it differently. The community here lacks Asian influence. According to a study by City-Data, Asians make up less than 2% in the area. So you can't imagine this store being chalk full of items people will need. So when someone will say, "shelves are bare" I see it as, "Quality control". The owner only carries items necessary to sell and after rummaging through many items, I can say they are as fresh as any other store. The prices are a bit higher than I'm used to, but in comparison to what Safeway sells, it's right in line with the area. As for the food available to order, I had only tried the chicken stir-fry. Overall it was okay. Not memorable or out of this world. I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. I'm interested in what else is offered though and plan on eventually trying something else again. On another note, the Kimchi is good. One last thing. BRING CASH. read more

This is a little hole in the wall asian market that sells Thai sticky rice steamers, sake sets, Vietnamese drip coffee makers, Chinese woks, etc. Selection of groceries is definitely limited, but that's not what is good here. What is good here is the food. The owner offers a limited selection of daily specials along with the always available chicken curry, pot stickers, and stir fried chicken and vegetables. I have tried most of the other "bigger" asian restaurants in town and can say with 100% confidence that this is the best asian food in town. Being on a budget while being close to the end of our road trip we found this place. As we pulled in the parking lot we almost turned around as the place is really run down. As we stepped through the old rickety door we were greeted by the owner and was patient with us as we choose our food. We choose the Curry Chicken and Lemon Chicken. My girlfriend and I are amazed at the quality of the food specially for the price. We have paid more for less quality food. This place does not disappoint and has a feel of an old Asian bodega. Don't let the rundown appearance or it's location fronting an alley in downtown Coos Bay throw you. If you are looking for the best Oriental food in town, you eat here. As you wait you can also browse the shelves to see the best (if moderate) selection of Oriental products in Coos Bay. Open Mon-Sat, each day offers a different main offering as well as the standby of potstickers and rice. Friday is my favorite day as the spring rolls are available along with what I call "Chinese Chicken Nuggets", made with a tempura batter that are used for the lemon chicken. Everything here is made from fresh ingredients including the sauces. You don't get some shipped frozen product, you get what the owner makes by hand with the best stuff that can be found. She abhors poor quality food and you get to watch her make it with your own eyes right in the store. It can get busy as people inside combine with the called in orders to result in waits but once you eat the food, you will know it was worth the wait. The basic daily meals are $4, with potstickers able to be added for 35 cents per potsticker as a side. The spring rolls are $1 when they are sold on Friday. Make sure you get them. No one does it better at any price! There are more expensive places. There are nicer places. There are easier places to find. None of them offer the tremendous value this local treasure of a place does and I've eaten a lot of Oriental food from LA to Puget Sound. We're lucky to have Kim's here! read more

Kim's is where I frequently go to get sushi wraps and other hard to find items that the grocery stores in Coos/ North Bend for some reason choose not to stock. It is a little hard to find, because you have to take a right after Coney Station on the 101 and then another right into the lot behind that main street- there are stores and restaurants in the back area as well as the front. There is often no one else in the store, and it can have a sparse, not completely clean feeling to it, but it is definitely worth a visit if you like Asian cooking and Asian food. This place is FILTHY, disgusting and unsanitary. There were tubs of raw meat just sitting out on the counter. I am new to town and desperate for Chinese food, so I attempted to overlook these issues, and based on favorable yelp reviews ordered the daily special of cashew chicken with rice. As i was waiting, i looked around the "market" area, and found a lot of old, dirty items, many with opened packaging. When my "food" was ready, I went outside to a nearby table and opened the box. There were no cashews in my cashew chicken and the smell was just heinous! My stomach lurched in protest, I tasted a sliver of zucchini and knew, if I continued, there would be many painful hours in the bathroom ahead. The price seemed fair so I strolled on in the tiny hole in the wall. I was welcomed by whom I assume to be the owner. She was a tiny woman with a kind smile. She asked if I wanted rice or noodles with my stir fry and I chose noodles. Right before my eyes less than 3 feet away she retrieved fresh ingredients and began to assemble my lunch in a huge wok. She seemed to make an art of it. I walked around the market and saw a selection of ingredients likely not from the US. Pretty neat little store. There is no seating. You take it and go. I am a transplant from WA state, and found out about this place while visiting. Coming down and going there was a special treat. Since I have moved here, I have been somewhat of a regular to this establishment. Yes, the place looks somewhat rundown, but let's face it, the best places to eat are not usually the chain restaurants - they are the local "holes in the wall" that serve the best food. Concerning the person who had a bad experience, maybe they didn't order what they thought they did. Once I asked for one thing and got something else, but I was not mad - since that was excellent as well. Kim is sometimes hard to understand, but none the less a very sweet person, so that could have been the reason. Every person I have talked with while waiting, and mind you I don't mind waiting for her food, have always said that this place is definitely worth the wait.
