Easy location to quickly get in and out. Good quality produce and meat. Nice deli, with nice people.

Meat is trash. Multiple on multiple accounts of meat that goes old too quick with no "packaged on" date, cuts that don't seem to be what the label says they are, and just over all inconsistent quality. Other things not so sure of. read more

I always was one for supporting small businesses, especially local ones that are employee owned however when it comes, so when you one time need to return an item that wasn't even used still had the barcode sticker price on the bottom of it you use your employee rewards phone number And there's no looking into it to see even if they can look you up to return the item when you don't have your receipt be one thing if it was something that was very inexpensive. This item was pretty expensive and the fact that it wasn't even used. I think I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Simple grocery store; they have a little bit of everything; and their giant bag of tortilla chips is dangerously delicious. Picked some up along with avocado and best decision ever; it was delicious. Customer service is on point; and they have an ATM machine to take out cash if needed. read more

Not a lot to choose from the store was not very organized. I met two other shoppers saying catchy the same. Why would you put the hot food right by the freezers? Why is the cheese across from the beer? Very odd. read more

The staff of Women here are amazing and kind, always try to get in one of their lines. Always polite and always respectful. Sadly the Manager is not, he would not give me my nickel discount for bringing my own bag he said we are discontinuing that soon, and is a nickle gonna make such a difference in your life. Well No, but it is your policy and you should try to hit that little button and honor what you advertise. It also encourages people to bring a bag. Okay, I gotta disagree with Bryce on this one. McKay's is McKay's regardless of which location you visit. There's LOTS of good, and a little that's well... okay, not so pleasant. But, having lived here for what seems like FOREVER, I will say I love shopping McKay's whenever I can. The occasional meat bonanza they have is the best buy on meat you'll find anywhere, and they cut to specification. So, the selection isn't great, and the price is sometimes higher on average. Still, this is one "local" business I do support and encourage others to do likewise. And... the suggestion to choose Walmart instead is just not a better option. I like to buy wine, creamer, and that's about it at Wally World as far as groceries. No meat. No produce. But McKay's? That's a whole "other" story. read more

I go here to get drinks in the morning and I get a lot of my food here. They are always nice to me and I like the selection of products they have. But, I have to say that sometimes I don't like that their are people outside asking me for money or cigarettes. That is probably the only thing I dislike about the store. Oh, and the can machines are also a pain to use. I feel bad for always having to call an employee out when I'm using them because something always goes wrong. read more

A wonderful local market in the Empire district of Coos Bay, OR with a familiar name around the southern Oregon coast area, it's has a feel of a supermarket as well as a mom-and-pop feel. Great selection of veggies and meats and well stocked with household items. read more

Use to work here as the butcher clean up crew. The manager and the staff are all very unproffesional and talk about using drugs and alcohol before and after work. When asked why I was being let go I never got a valid reasoning behind why. They have poor interaction skills with customers and have bad attitudes with not just each other but customers as well. After seeing the way they handle the food they put on the shelves and also the meat department I would gladly shop somewhere else. read more

McKay's market is such a classic model of old-fashioned good service, accommodating staff, fresh produce, great meat cuts and selection that I have to give a five star review. I was born and raised here but lived in Bend, OR for 10 years, shopping Safeway, Costco, World Market, Albertsons, etc., and I can emphatically state that the atmosphere and the friendly staff at Empire McKay's is so refreshing in comparison to larger stores. I'm sure there are those who will disagree but as for me, give me McKay's every time. read more

Gotta say, McKay's had the one item I was looking for that Wal-Mart didnt have. What was it? Oddly enough.. cheese cloth. Hense why local and smaller chains are better then your corporate stores. read more

Since the late 90's I have shopped McKay's. Walmart is off my list. The best service is from McKay's in the Empire District. The personnel are the friendliest. The meat the best. I won't buy meat anywhere else. You can order cuts not out, and available, and pick up the next day. The meat personnel are very accommodating and helpful explaining cuts of meats. The vegetable and fruit section is stocked well. Because I live alone and need say, one half of a head of cabbage, I can get that. McKay's has always been good about keeping outdated items of the shelves. The only other store I shop occasionally if I am down town is Fred Meyer because I like their brand paper products. In the past if I purchased something that spoiled the day or two after I brought it home, McKay's gave me my money back with no questions asked. This happened only three times in the years past. I think we are very fortunate to have this store in it's location. They are doing a great service for the public. Thank you McKay's. read more
