    Chicken Meal

I had tried this place so many times, this is the only picture I took. First off, most items are pretty pricey, while the portions are good, some of them are not worth the price in my opinion. The place is very clean, nice and quiet, they usually get busy around lunch time tho. The staffs there are friendly and very helpful if you need help with your order. Lastly, the food is delicious , highly recommend the katsu set, the fried chicken is nice but a bit too sweet for my liking.

Order through Grubhub because of free delivery and $5 off, it's a good deal. I was expecting my food to be delivered at 1:05 but got noticed that it's delayed to 1:35. That's a little bit disappointing because it would pass my husband's lunch time so the meal became dinner instead of lunch. Fortunately it arrived at the new ETA. Spicy pork: decent portion size, packed with rice. Pork slices are thin but tender and not dry. However, it's not too flavorful, needs sesame oil and soy sauce, a little bit bland. It asked for level of spiciness and I wanted spicy. The pork as is without extra gochuchang isn't spicy at all. They put extra gochuchang on the side.

When I think of Korean food, first thing came to my mind was their fluffy rice. The very marinated galbi, insanely mouth drooling flavor and its tenderness texture, yum. And of course, can't forget the spicy and vinegary kimchi. Is this the same Rice and Mix that used to be on Walnut Street? It sure don't taste the same.I thought the older location was better! The interior design and the seating is waaay nicer than this new spot. We started with Korean fried chicken in soy garlic. I've requested the wings to be fried well done, and the requests were ignored after she says ok. If it can't be done, just tell me before I order so I don't expect it. Compare to Bonchon's, Rice and Mix soy garlic are pretty tasteless. 6 pcs of wings(not whole wings) were $12.95, I rather go to a Chinese take-out and pay $10 for 6 very flavorful whole wings. Next disappointment, the galbi. I had remembered their galbi to be extremely flavorful. Not today, their galbi lacks the "very flavor" they used to carry, but at least is still tender(the only good part). Let's get to the kimchi, it used to be spicy, all I taste today is saltiness, tryna give me high blood pressure of some sort??? If you think the wings is the worst part of our meal, U R WRONG! The fluffy white rice that I'm used to with Korean cuisines doesn't exist here, the rice is hard and chewy, a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The best part of my order is the Soon Du Bu, I got this order to-go. Rice and Mix's Soon Du Bu is made with huge chunks of tofu which i loved. I have it made with medium spice, i think this is the perfect spice level. Will I return? Yes, because my hubby likes their galbi.

For a seemingly fusion/western palate-appeasing place, I was actually really impressed with my latest visit here. I came here a long time ago and got a rice bowl and wasn't impressed, but it looks like they've changed their concept a little and I can say that I'm a fan. I ordered a beef soondubu, which came with white rice (no side dishes included, sadly), as well as a bottle of water, and it came to around $11, which is respectable for lunch. The flavors were what I expected and maybe even a bit more since I've experienced so many so-so experiences at places like this. It could have been spicier despite me asking for it to be spicy, but I got a lot of soondubu in the actual bowl, though the vegetable choice was a bit different than what I'm used to. The rice was a little undercooked so I basically turned it into juk (rice porridge) towards the end. I will definitely come back to try other K-food staples like galbitang and maybe even brave the ddeokbokki!

I ordered the koreana bibimbap with spicy pork and mild sauce. (Not hot stone, regular). It was amazing! It was very healthy. All the vegetables were really tasty. Also, the lady working there was so sweet ! I forgot my water bottle and she ran outside to catch me and give to me! She also had a great attitude while serving me, which was quite refreshing. Definitely will return, very filling and healthy!

a bowl of soup with a spoon in it

Taste was ok but kinda expensive!!! I'm from nyc and come visit here. I ordered kimchi soup which is $20 the size was sooooo small and just few tiny pork in a bowl. Not worth your money AT ALL!!! I'm an asian girl but everything is smaller than my hands.

Spicy pork dolsot - hot stone pot

Rice and Mix is a decent Korean place on the east side of Broad. It does have its variety of options (dolsot - hot stone, wings, etc). They have a sign that says they gave the best Korean chicken wings - but I couldn't get that for lunch. The dolsot is a my standard Korean dish that i order. I'm located on the west side of Broad so I normally go to Giwa. Overall - still prefer Giwa, but Rice and Mix is good in which it allows you to choose your vegetables. I would say Giwa is like Chipotle as Rice and Mix is to Qdoba. If you want a dolsot, you go to Giwa. If you want dolsot and other things (wings), you go to Rice and Mix. Just like chipotle had their burritos, but Qdoba has their quesadillas, nachos, etc.

Everything was delicious, from the apps to the dishes, and definitely very healthy portions! Service was pretty good as well, with attentive staff despite there not being a whole lot of them. The food is Korean-inspired with some fusion elements, and all of it was nicely executed. Fried chicken bites were a pretty big hit, and the pork buns were good as well - crispier than usual, but still really good. Toppoki was nice too, and have to say that calling it rice gnocchi is pretty smart to make it easier to understand outside the Asian POV. Kimchi paella was essentially kimchi fried rice, but tasty and filling, and the scrape off parts at the bottom, that's rice gold right there. I don't always eat rice, but when I do, I prefer slightly burnt at the bottom of a stone pot. Second visit, I went with fire chicken, which is tasty and has some kick. I did notice that my not Asian colleague was asked if he was sure about the three fire symbols, but I was not :P Space is pretty nice inside too, a nice combination of old and new; the bathroom was nice and clean, and the general feel inside is casual but elegant. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but would need to know much more about allergy protocols and awareness, which admittedly isn't always a strong point in Asian cuisine.

The meats are of high quality, the side dishes always tasty, and staff super helpful. We're never great at eating our money's worth, so the pay-as-you-go setup felt like a better fit. We got the favorite set for two, which ended up being plenty. The biggest highlight right away: they grill everything for you. KBBQ is just better when you can sit back and eat instead of managing the grill yourself. They also use a back grill to keep things moving, so there's barely any pause between rounds of meat. It felt really efficient. Also, the place is surprisingly clean and doesn't have that heavy "you're going to smell like smoke for the next 5 hours" vibe, which I really appreciated. Somehow they keep it all under control even with constant grilling. Service-wise, the staff were attentive and clearly working hard, especially since it seemed a bit understaffed. That said, my friend did feel a little uncomfortable at times. There were a few moments where it felt like we were being watched closely, almost like they were worried about a dine-and-dash situation, and we were asked multiple times if we had paid. I personally read it more as things being slightly disorganized with a small team juggling cooking, serving, and payments, but I can see how it might come across differently depending on how you interpret it. Food-wise, the meat was very good, but the banchan really stood out to me. The cabbage salad with a gingery soy dressing was super refreshing and cut through the richness of the meat perfectly. Free refills on banchan are always a win too. I also liked that the grill came with corn cheese, egg, and sprouts, nice extras you don't always get. The corn cheese wasn't as sweet as I expected, and the egg was a bit on the salty side, but still enjoyable. The tilted grill setup was another plus since it lets the grease drain away, so the meal didn't feel overly heavy like some AYCE spots. Overall, it was a really fun experience. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality and how easy the whole meal felt. Just something to be aware of with the service dynamic depending on how sensitive you are to that kind of thing.
