BBQ sandwich platter: includes two sides.
    Susan M.

This place was fine. My fiancé and I were in Calico Rock for the day, but, it was Monday, and very little was open. So, we pressed on to Mountain View. Not much was open there either. But, a storekeeper recommended this place. I got a pork BBQ platter which came with two small sides. I chose coleslaw and baked beans. You also get a small coleslaw with the sandwich. The sandwich was good. The beans were good and had a kick to them. The coleslaw was very sweet like KFC's, but, that's okay with me! We also got ice tea and you get free refills. My fiancé's lunch came with dessert, which was a peanut butter brownie. Very good. A very down to earth place.

First time ever coming here. We've passed by this restaurant many many times on our way to listen to the folk music sang by the locals. This restaurant wasn't our first choice (it was actually our fourth) but the other two we normally go to were not open, and we tried to try a different BBQ place on the edge of town but it was also closed. So, we ended up here. First impressions: the place smelled good, and already had several people sitting and eating. It's a cozy cabin feel. The lady in front of us took several minutes to order, I suspicion because the girls at the cash register were not working very fast. After she was done, we were left standing at the register while the girls working there messed around with changing the paper roll, with the old roll flying off in our direction with no apology. Simply a laugh and uncomfortable smile. I've never seen a restaurant offer apple cider to drink, so I ordered it, along with a glass of water in case I didn't like it for some reason; however, the apple cider tasted like hot water with very little flavor. Very distasteful. I also never received my water - I had to ask for it and a different drink. They happily brought me a Sprite. Didn't arrive until the end of our meal. Our orders arrived like most restaurants: about a 15-20 minute wait. We ordered the "Family 4 Pack" which comes with 4 BBQ sandwiches and 4 orders of fries. The waitress mixed up the sandwiches and gave my dad my sandwich and gave me his - only difference was cheese on mine. That was quickly fixed. My sandwich tasted like it had been smoked or cooked too long - the meat was dry, even with BBQ sauce, and tasted almost completely like smoke (if anything at all). The fries were average - looked and tasted like the same kind you could buy frozen at Walmart. Overall, I would NOT recommend this place.

Really good place to eat! BBQ was very good. The service was fast and very nice servers. It was laid back and it had an old feel about it. I absolutely loved the surroundings.

Surprise find in Mountain View. Excellent BBQ with great sides. The staff was so friendly it was like visiting friends.

    ribs on a plate

We stopped in here on our way to Blanchard Springs. The ribs had an amazing smokey flavor that I haven't really had before coming from Southern California. They were also some of the most tender ones too, you could just pull the bones right out! I would definitely eat here again if I'm ever in the area.

Ribs and pulled pork was great. They also have daily specials. Hamburger steak with onions is good. Just a good hometown place to eat.

Casual wire tables and paper plates. Family friendly atmosphere.

We had lunch here. The service was excellent and the food was good but the "plate with bbq and 2 sides" had small portions.

Brisket sandwich is great. If you aren't from Texas it's hard to get brisket done right.

You folks threw me all the way off with this 4.5 rating here…read more How can you have that many relatives that have Yelp accounts! Pretty baffling. First.... They are as sweet as can be here. All of the ladies we encountered were great. They were so very nice. They pulled this from a 1 star review, if I am being totally real. They have a cat sanctuary outside. That helped too. Here, kitty, kitty! Our server was "filling in" and was a little "off, and trying to catch up". Inside is a hodgepodge of country type decor. It's homey and I really like the different types of salt and pepper shakers that's they had on each table. Some of them were really cute. The other star is earned by this creativity... I dared the kid to steal them, glad she is better than me. LOL She didn't. Everything else for me basically sucked. We had a sausage cheese board. Just no. Sausage looked to be soaked in water???? Why was it so white? Tiny thin slices of cheese and water crackers. Another smoked or processed meat would help. Well, I was wrong.... except for the kids sandwich, she really liked it. I think it was a ham sandwich. She had ruffles. C had the Hash and it looked awful. She confirmed that it was. Look at the pics and you will see. Kids boyfriend had a bacon cheeseburger. He said the bacon was the best thing. I didn't even take a picture. I had a two meat platter. I asked when I ordered if I could request "fatty brisket" . Her response was, "no, she already has it all cut and portioned out". I said "no brisket please, I will have pulled pork then. I want that and a sausage link. " Well, I received brisket and a sausage link. I am a forgiving man, so I just ate it. Beans were the best thing. This is getting long so I'll just finish up. That's the worst brisket I have ever tried to eat. I am certain it never saw any smoke. I almost question that it may have come to them as precooked, pre-sliced brisket. Check out my pic. It's as white. C said "that's not brisket, that's turkey". Nope. It was beef in fact. Sausage was low quality and also never had heard of smoke. I question if anything is really smoked here. I done now. '26 - 86

We ordered the Pulled Pork Combo & the Chopped Brisket Sandwich. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our server, Felicia, did an excellent job of taking care of us & the prices were quite reasonable ( 2 entrees, 2 soft drinks & a side ) for $ 39.21. Carolyn's was close by and had good reviews so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. We were quickly greeted and given menus and offered something to drink. Our server, Stacy, let us know right away they were out of ribs and pulled pork which was understandable since we arrived after 7 pm on a Monday evening. After perusing the menu, we decided on the brisket sandwich, sweet potato fries and coleslaw, and a meat platter with brisket and their smoked sausage which comes with two sides. We also got the spicy nips as an appetizer (sliced jalapeño peppers battered and fried to a golden brown). All the food was delicious and expertly prepared. The batter on the nips was unique and crispy and I tried to figure out what they used, but I couldn't quite make it out. They were really good and super spicy, we loved it! The meats were fresh and obviously of good quality. The brisket was perfectly smoked and had a nice rub on it and the barbecue sauce was delicious as well. The sausage they use was also very good, smokey and lean. It reminded me of a sausage I had when I was a kid, visiting my grandparents in the south. Everything we had was outstanding. So much so that we came back the next night for their brisket tacos which are served on, you guessed it, Taco Tuesday. We got there early the second day so as not to miss out on the ribs. The Saint Louis style ribs, had a nice rub and were perfectly smoked. They were served with just enough sauce so you could leave them as is or add more if you prefer more sauce. The meat was fall-off-the -bone tender, but still with enough bite to chew. The service was great too. Stacy was very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed talking with her. We also met another customer who came back the next night and said he goes there most nights for dinner. We certainly would come back frequently if we lived in the area.
