We were very happy with the food I enjoyed the field green salad which was very fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette dressing was nice and not too much. I had the fried chicken my daughter had the pork chop. The breading on the chicken was very nicely done with the right amount of spice. The chicken was juicy and had good flavor throughout. Quite the refreshing restaurant experience in the FLX. Yes, the restaurant is in a small plaza in front of a chain hotel. Once you make it inside, though, the restaurant is stunning. Think Grappa with a rustic charm. There is a huge, sparkling wall of wines and spirits separating the bar and lounge area from the main dining room, and a large open window to the kitchen, letting the energetic flurry of food preparation seep into your dining experience. I joined two friends for dinner here, and we were all terribly excited to try this place, following the featured review in the D&C. The menu is adorable, albeit slightly confusing. There are sides separate from the main dishes, but the servers are really helpful in explaining the layout. My order was the fried chicken. It looked delicious, and came with a cute crock of coleslaw, hot pickles and sticky sweet barbecue sauce. The briny coleslaw and sweet sauce didnt work for me, but it was recommended to me by someone who swears by this dish. At $21, I wish it came with some fries to cushion the bold flavors. Twice we've been, and twice we've been astounded with the quality of the food and the service. Even something as simple as a cheese plate appetizer is a special treat. The servers are all attentive. As others have mentioned, the fried chicken is fantastic, but probably more than one person can eat. We can also vouch for the salmon with gnocchi. I was rummaging places to eat in Geneva and Kindred Fare popped up. We started driving and called. They could handle a last minute walk in (now a reservation). We were pleasantly surprised. (The short version: We'll be back). Our server, Clare was very friendly and helpfully. She brought me a taste of the Cabernet Franc Rosé (I ordered more). We ended up sharing a garden salad as an app. It was very fresh and delicious. We had an entreé of salmon and a pasta of "Cameline" (my spelling of it is a train wreck), that had a sun-dried tomatoes with a dusting of pecorino cheese it was perfectly al dente. Oh my goodness! What a memorable place! Dark, seductive, candlelit interior. It's intimate and great for dates. I love the relaxing music. It's awesome for private conversation. I even ventured twice. We walked in one time with a reservation at 6:30 pm. No problem. Another time, we came in by walking right in around 8:45 pm and had no issue getting a seat. I love how it has a classy feel to it. One thing you will definitely notice is the layout. Look at the remote corners and you see lush greenery surround you. Luckily, there is plenty of seating outside as well as inside. A menu with plenty of vegetarian options and gluten-free options. We were visiting Geneva for a wedding and are from NJ. This restaurant has great food and the service is also wonderful. My husband had the Pork Dumpling Ramen Which was very tasty. I had the salmon special which was good but just a little bland. Can't complain about that but I have a 4 star because I was taken back by the 2% Supplemental Hospitality Surcharge. I never saw such a charge so I asked the waitress and the explanation was the its a charge that big cities have to continue to source their products locally. I told the waitress we eat in NYC and other big cities and never saw this charge. Why are you adding a surcharge to source your products locally? The prices are already high enough so don't keep hitting your dinners for extra fees. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in the area. We try to go every week or so. The food is all made in house including sauces and condiments including ketchup. The owner, managers, chefs, serving staff are all top notch, friendly, and accommdating to specific dietary needs. Every thing on the menu is fantastic. Some of our favorites are the cauliflower wings (which we order every time we go), kale salad, fried chicken dinner. The homemade pasta is outstanding. Daily specials are always unique and delicious. We really enjoyed our first trip to Kindred Fare. We do not typically share our dinners so this was a nice change of pace. We started off with a couple glasses of Finger Lakes Rose. It was hard to choose a drink because they have so many great cocktails, beers and wines. We did not go wrong with our rose! We ordered the cheese plate to begin our meal. All selections were local and accompanied with fresh baked bread and mustards. It was a excellent reasonably priced cheese plate. For dinner, we ordered the fried chicken, small kale salad and hand cut fries. The salad was delicious and served with a herb dressing, feta, pickled onion and amazing thick cut bacon bits. The chicken was cooked nicely. Not overly greasy and tender/juicy inside. It was coated with a lovely crisp cornmeal breading and a honey hot sauce. A perfect selection to share. The fries were also delicious and fresh and came with a garlic aioli. The only negative I saw with Kindred Fare was the service. Empty plates remained on our table 15 minutes before being removed by our server. Just one of my pet peeve but thinks like that separates good restraints from great ones. read more

There was alot of hype for this one and solid expectations but honestly it couldn't hold its own. Sure the inside of the venue is cute and the service was good, heck even the food was good but that's it. Good. Not great. None of the several dishes and courses we tried I would highlight and it's quite expensive for what it is. I've been to a lot of restaurants in the cny area and truthfully we wouldn't go back. Do not show up late to your reservation!! 6 of us enjoyed a wonderful day of wine tasting and were looking forward to dinner at Kindred Fare. We were running a little late and showed up 15 minutes late for our reservation (though I had confirmed it earlier). They WOULD NOT seat us and continued to "thank us for understanding", which we were not. We are not from the area and had a hired driver until a specific time. They would not even let us order drinks and apps at the table to shorten our time there. The salad had a nice and somewhat unique blend of greens with chick peas. The dressing was wonderful. Very tasty without being salty or overpowering. Since we were sharing, a small set of tongs and two plates were provided. I thought the tongs was a nice touch. The pasta was just as notable. It was fresh and cooked perfectly. It was blended with pork belly, fennel sausage and green and red bell peppers. It had this amazing creamy, non-tomato sauce that really made it stand out. I also liked that everyone in the restaurant help take care of all of the tables for faster and more efficient service. Various servers helped bring our dishes and take them away. As it was a Sunday night it was a bit slow - we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation and were able to be seated. They have a pretty decent wine list. Bubbles, you say - well of course because of the rave reviews of the fried chicken we decided what better combination than that??? Definitely got a side of mac and cheese to go with that. We did start off with a large kale salad - again, as noted in previous reviews of the region, the produce here is just so fresh and so good. This has a little bit of bacon and feta cheese in it as well that was just delicious. We didn't get a flatbread however we did see another table that got one and it really looked amazing! And they really looked like they were enjoying it! (yes, you know who you are!!!) Got some homemade ice cream to finish off the meal - the chocolate was good but the maple pecan was outstanding! Nice and modern setting. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable with their foods. I had kale salad and burger with a glass of Shiraz. The salad was generous portion for side order. Kales were fresh and chopped in perfect size with perfect amount of dressing and flavor. I had a great dinner with a couple friends at Kindred Fare tonight after a day exploring the Finger Lakes. I had the house-made pasta and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've enjoyed at a restaurant. Usually, when a pasta dish says it has rabbit in it, I expect no more than small shreds. Kindred Fare's, however, had delicious good sized morsels. The pasta itself was also very good. The portion size as well. It was the perfect "probably could have taken a few bites home, but it was so good that I finished it" size. I had the Billsboro cabernet sauvignon, but next time I go back, I want to try a cocktail or two. The cocktail names were pretty entertaining! I was too full for dessert, but my friend got orange thyme sorbet and chocolate beet sorbet. Both were good, but I found the chocolate beet to be the most scrumptious. We have been coming to Kindred Fare since it opened, and although its a schlep from Rochester, its one we don't mind making because it is always a great meal. The atmosphere is big open and industrial, so with this comes the proverbial noise issues that oftentimes plague these restaurant designs. So its maybe not so conducive to a romantic evening out, however the decor and vibe of the place fit nicely with the food. Service has always flowed nicely. Timing of drinks and dishes has always been great. Wait staff has always been friendly, keeping in mind that big industrial restaurants don't really work on the premise of fussy wait staff. The drink menu is good and cocktails are solid. But where Kindred shines is its food and the consistency of it. They have built a solid farm to table menu that really showcases ingredients in a straightforward well executed manner. Unfortunately for restaurants in the Rochester/Finger Lakes area, consistency in the kitchen is always a problem. Kindred Fare has no such issues. Their kitchen never falters. read more

The green salad had very good flavors but was overdressed and limp. I think it had been made and mixed ahead of time. The burger was very good, great meaty flavor . It was cooked to medium instead of MR and we thought the roll was too thick. Nitpicking maybe but $22 for a burger is a (very) high bar. The pasta special was very good and I liked the longish spiral shape. We enjoyed the succotash side a lot. The caramel ice cream head great flavor but had a grainy texture as another reviewer said. The cocktail menu was very creative and very impressive and the ones I tried were well balanced. The cocktail menu's focus on sherry and amaros was odd especially for summer. And it felt they were trying to impress you with ingredient names you didn't know rather than identifying them as types of sherries or amaros. I'm not local to the area and did much research before coming to Seneca Lake/Geneva and was very excited to dine at Kindred Fare. Unfortunately I don't think it matched it's hype or reviews. We started with a bottle of Cab Franc- they have a great wine list with lots of local options and a range of prices. We got a meat and cheese which listed that it came with crackers, and we asked if we could substitute bread for crackers and was told that would be no problem. The cheese was an itty bitty piece and the sausage was 4 small slices of sausage. Each was $8 and when it came, it came with crackers. We had mentioned we have a nut allergy and it turns out the crackers are made with almond flour. As common as nut allergies are, that should probably be listed on the menu. They ended up bringing us bread, but then charged us $5 extra for it. This wasn't mentioned and it's more the principle than the $5 extra charge. We split 3 entrees- a flatbread, mussels, and the burrata salad. All were pretty good, but very salty. The mussels came with completely burnt bread. I thought maybe it just looked that way because it was a wheat bread but I had a bite and no, definitely burnt. They nicely brought out new bread but also just surprised they sent it out like that. We got dessert (honey ice cream) and that was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive as well, so qualms with the service. Overall, this meal was fine. But sadly that's all. read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant! I love the ever changing farm to table menu. There's always something new and wonderful to try and supporting local farmers and vendors is a bonus! They have the best vegan menu available and the house created cocktails and mocktails are fun and fresh. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
