We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Main Deck! I first visited last year and loved it so much that I knew I had to come back--and this time, it was the perfect place to host my birthday celebration. The staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Our group of 11 enjoyed a beautiful sunset view, and we could hear the live band playing downstairs, which they have every Saturday. It created such a fun and memorable atmosphere while still allowing us to enjoy our conversations. And the food... absolutely amazing! We tried every appetizer and almost every main course, and everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and truly gourmet. We were excited to try this restaurant after the remodeling. We had been to the previous one (Top of the Lake) and it was terrible. So, seeing the updated decor and menu, had me thinking that the new owners are really serious about providing a fine dining experience to Kueka Lake. Evidently NOT. We went on a Tuesday at 6PM for our Anniversary and despite that being in our reservation notes twice, it was never acknowledged. Our water tender filled our glasses after 15 minutes of sitting and waiting with no greeting after the hostess stand. We asked her what the soup of the day was and she didn't know. Our server Riley B. Had no personality or personal skills. She did not offer any suggestions on drinks, meals, appetizers, etc. also failed to acknowledge our anniversary. She did inform us that they were out of the short rib. We ordered the crab fritters, mussels, and French onion soup for appetizers. 35 minutes for appetizers to arrive and the mussels were ice cold, shells were all cracked. It was terrible, ate about 2 each and sent them back. Crab fritters were ok, still undercooked in the middle, but we were so hungry we ate those. Onion soup came out about 10 minutes after and that was the ONLY item of quality. Our entrees were the Steak Frites and Alfredo pasta with chicken. Those arrived about 1 1/2 hours after we were seated. Service was terribly slow all night, as well as zero follow up, despite the restaurant being about a quarter full. Entrees did arrive hot, so that was appreciated. Pasta dish was not an Alfredo, more of light tomato pepper cream sauce. Steak was prepared as ordered, however about halfway through eating, I enjoyed a piece of jagged plastic that poked my mouth. That was the final straw. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the foreign object. Saved you a lawsuit, you're welcome! The new decorations were made less enjoyable by the constant onslaught of flies in the dining room, which we discovered was caused by your staff keeping the door to the deck wide open. The irony is there was no patrons on the deck, so that was an unnecessary waste of AC and failed sanitation practice. Our view of the lake would have also been better if you can manage to clean the windows once in awhile. Of course I was prepared to address all of these issues with the manager, but after asking for the manager and two servers searching for about 10 minutes, we were informed he went home for the day and the person in charge was the chef. In summary, the Main Deck is a pig in a pretty dress. Food is inconsistent, mediocre at best, service and training of the staff is lacking and poor. Standards in the back of the house are also missing, as evidenced by cold appetizers, slow arrival times, foreign objects in the food, and out of stock items. I joked with my wife and daughter about the axiom.... "Never dine at a restaurant on a Monday because nothing is fresh!" Sort of came true. Ordered a side Caesar salad (no Croutons as I'm Gluten Intolerant.) Romaine lettuce was lifeless, old and a lot with that browned edge look. Dressing was lifeless. Just shouldn't have been served. Ordered the Short Rib and it was not a good choice. Served over a potato purée with pickled peppers (which turned out to be Jalapeños and very spicy.) Short rib was very dry and the whole dish was crying for some kind of jus, or gravy or some kind of moisture. Daughter had the scallop special which she said was okay but when she was done she had a pile of bacon lardons she didn't care for. Wife had the salmon and it was the best of the three entrees Decor was beautiful. Nicely decorated and loved all the Penn Yan boat pictures as I grew up in that era when a Penn Yan lapstrake was the boat to have. View is delightful. It was rainy but imagine sitting on that deck out back would be wonderful in good weather. Not sure we'd return and if we did we would stick with the apps and drinks. Menu execution and quality of cooking need improvement. Kitchen and food need to up their game to match the beautiful decor and view. read more

A little disappointed with the service and organization but it has great location and excellent taste for food. I don't know if this is because the season hasn't arrived yet or this is general but it was a disappointment. We came here late for lunch, to find a mostly empty place with a large bar overlooking the Keuka Lake with host at the door and 1 waitress running the entire room. Considering how large that room is it was a surprise. Dishes we had to wait for some time but I was impressed with them. They had southern flair and taste and the taste was good but service left wishing for the best. read more

We wanted to find what we thought would be a more upscale restaurant for my friend's bachelorette weekend and it wasn't exactly what we had hoped for. The views are stunning and the service was accommodating when we asked if we could wait for a table outside. The outdoor deck as you watch the boats go by in the lake is picturesque. The food was just okay. We started with the bread with three dips. The bread was just not it. The dips wete okay and very small. We got the chicken and corn chowder soup. That might've been the best thing. A few of us got the garlic fettuccine, it had a good kick but the flavor other than spice was pretty bland. We got it with steak. It was just a hunk of steak on top, it would've been nice if they sliced it as they did for the chicken. The steal was also bland. We also got the tuna tar tar. It was pretty good. Cocktails were also just okay. One thing I really liked was the brussel sprouts. If I was ever in the area I would maybe just go back for apps and a view. read more

Beautiful setting on the lake, but very hot on the deck at sunset. Sit inside the tall glass windows and enjoy the view - because that's the best part. Service was literally non existent once we were seated by the hostess who was working her Fanny off seating parties, cleaning tables, doing back bar work, etc. When no waiter came after 30 minutes we moved to the bar where they had to serve us because they had to look at us! Bartender was nice, drinks ok. The chicken sandwich -- with chips not fries:-( -- was excellent. Side salad tasty but tiny. The chicken Caesar salad was the smallest I've ever seen. I hate to give a bad review because the venue is nice and the wait staff were friendly -- but you go out to eat good food and well... it just so was not good food. The burger smelled and tasted like a hot dog - honestly, worse burger I have eaten in a really long time. I visited Main Deck for the first time last night, and while the setting is absolutely stunning, the food was a major disappointment. The restaurant itself is a beautiful new build (opened July 2024 I believe) with incredible views of Keuka Lake. The décor is thoughtfully done--the upside-down wooden boat hanging over the bar is a standout piece, and the vintage photos throughout add charm. The atmosphere had so much potential... but unfortunately, that's where the positives mostly ended. My friend and I started with the French onion soup. It was the only dish that had any flavor, but even that was underwhelming in portion--maybe 1/4 cup--with an oversized, hardened piece of bread that took up most of the crock. For entrées, I ordered the pasta with beef bolognese and ricotta. As someone who is 100% Italian and an avid cook, I can honestly say this was one of the most tasteless pasta dishes I've ever had. The pasta was completely mushy, there was very little beef, and the sauce had virtually no flavor whatsoever. My friend ordered the braised short rib with butternut risotto. What should have been a rich, comforting dish fell flat. The short rib itself had a large, untrimmed piece of fat and was slightly dry--far from what a properly braised short rib should be. The topping described as a dollop of parmigiana resembled a loose, whipped mixture with minimal cheese and certainly not the quality you'd expect from Parmigiano Reggiano. The risotto lacked depth and cohesion. To make matters worse, all of the food was served lukewarm, and neither entrée had any real flavor. There wasn't even salt or pepper on the tables, which felt like a missed basic. The bathroom, while modern in design, was noticeably unkempt, with dirty-looking floor tiles. It was a warm Saturday night, and for a 6:45 reservation, the restaurant was nearly empty--we were only the second table seated. That alone was surprising for a place with such a beautiful location. The one true bright spot was our server, Matt. He was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. Pricing is consistent with an upscale dining experience, which I have no issue with--if the food delivers. Unfortunately, it didn't come close. With better execution in the kitchen, this place could be a gem, but it's been opened long enough that these "bugs" should have been worked out by now. We opened a business in the area & are checking out local restaurants so we can make recommendations to our clients. We've heard mixed reviews for this restaurant, and after our own experience we definitely won't be recommending this one. The menu & prices say fine dining.... But that's not what we experienced. We had to ask for the wine list, it wasn't given to us with the menu as you would in a well run restaurant. The view of the lake would have been great, but the windows were filthy on the inside and out. My husbands steak that was ordered well done arrived blackened on the outside and literally ice cold and raw on the inside. The only person who offered any kind of acknowledgment for nearly giving my husband salmonella was the waiter but it wasn't his responsibility to apologize. My steak was cooked correctly but it was a very tough piece of meat. The price markup on the wine was OVER DOUBLE. Pretty sure our deserts were not made fresh.... They were awful. There was really no excuse for a bad experience... there were only a handful of customers. (Now we know why.) Very disappointing experience and we will not go back. I worked in the fine dining restaurant industry for decades... the main deck is very overpriced, very poorly run & desperately needs a new manager. The only positives were the waiter was good, and the risotto was very good. This place has potential with competent management & kitchen staff. Went there for dinner with a large party. We all ordered and then the waitress Hilary came back and told us she only had 2 short rib, which several of us had ordered. Another person ordered a side salad with dinner and she came out with a full side salad without telling them they could not get a side salad. Hilary was very ubatentive and never came back during dinner to ask how it was. For those who were able to get the sorts rib, it was very small with a bone, it was the size that came out of a calf. Some diners got larger portions. I could not get the short rib so I got the Spitzer and it was dry and overcooked. But the spatzel were good. My wife got the salmon and it was overpriced and tasted like soot. Also we had a group and a tip of 20%was added, I would have given 15% at best. If you want poor service and to be disappointed by half the dinner options Main Deck is the place for you. read more

Had dinner on a Sat night. The bar area with the boat look is very cool. Nice views of the lake. Beautiful room. We sat in a booth. There was music coming from the bar downstairs but it was not bothering us, we could talk to each other. The room did not echo with people talking, good acoustics. The corn fritters for an app and the short ribs for dinner were delicious. Waitress was super nice but forgot to offer us dessert. Water glass was dirty when we sat down. Friendly, professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, she carried herself with a level of grace and care that you rarely see. She made us feel like we were her only table, even though the restaurant was busy. Every detail mattered to her, every question answered with genuine enthusiasm. I want to preface this review by stating that I rarely write reviews, and only do so when the experience is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. Unfortunately, this time it was the latter. This restaurant has a beautiful interior and that's where the positives end. Our party of 5 waited 2 hours for our food to come out. I understand being short staffed on a Monday night but there was no apology or explanation for the ridiculously long wait. One table got up and left their food was taking so long. Short rib risotto was decent but a small portion. To their credit there was a decent amount of short rib but for 34 dollars I expect more than a cup of risotto. Shrimp pasta was overcooked. Burger was overcooked and bland. Truffle fries were decent. Service was lacking and we were charged for 2 risotto entrees when 2 risotto sides were ordered. Auto gratuity was added despite being a party of 5 (clearly stated on the menu that auto gratuity was for parties of 6 or more). If the kitchen/waitstaff/restaurant in general could get their ******* **** together it would be such a wonderful experience with the great view of Keuka lake. Until then avoid this restaurant unless you want to wait 2 hours for food that's mediocre at best, and service that isn't much better. read more

Great food! Beautiful atmosphere! Terrible service. We made a reservation through the website just in case it would be busy. When we arrived there was a group of 4 already waiting ahead of us with no host/hostess in sight. We waited for ten minutes while watching servers, food runners, and other employees pass us without acknowledging us. Then another group came in behind us and waited as well. Finally someone stopped when they noticed the full lobby. The hostess came up and seated the party in front of. She then returned and a took us to a table. We waited another 10 minutes before a server greeted us. During dinner service I went to use the bathroom and both hand soaps were completely empty. When we were ready to cash out we waited another 10 minutes for the server to grab our card. This restaurant has great potential but needs to be better staffed. read more

The food is exquisite and the seasonal cocktails all made with fresh ingredients pair well with seasonal food offerings. Always a good meal! We walked into the restaurant. The view is outstanding, but... I ordered a strawberry margarita. It took the server 20 minutes to bring it to me. I don't know what it is that they brought me but it tasted like horrible sweet medicine. Before I continue, I must say, the restaurant was not full at all. As a matter of fact, the place was quite empty. I was finally able to get a hold of our server, and she said that she would bring me a new drink. I want this a spicy margarita, that too took some time to get. Around 45 minutes later, after we had our appetizers, the server came back and we asked for our main courses. I ordered a pasta and I asked him to make it very very light on the sauce. Our meals came, my pasta had shrimp on it, which was very good, but as far as keeping it light on the sauce, my pasta was swimming in sauce. I took 2 bites and couldn't eat any more. When the server came back, she asked me how was our food. I was honest. I told the server the truth. It took forever to get a drink. I asked for very light sauce (more than once), and I got fettuccine al a SOUP. She did deduct the drink from the bill. Staff was accommodating with our big party's different wants but even without - the variety on the menu gave my whole party lots of choices even our vegan and vegetarians. and great appetizers and small pates. It was the weekend with live music down stairs. And the decor remains lovely with seating options in dining room, in the charming booths and of course on the deck - all with amazing views of Keuka Lake. The restaurant looks fabulous. Very classy interior and outside deck seating. It is located on the shore of Keuka lake. I got the food is a bit of a letdown. Portions are a bit stingy and the taste was just ok. On this night there was something wrong with the Halibut and Risotto dish and some of the dinners were returned to the kitchen. The view and the styling of this restaurant is top notch. The drinks are also great and the service was good. However, we definitely wouldn't come back here for food. We should have known something was off when the rolls that were brought to the table looked like they were store bought. I tried the appetizer special - Halibut Meatballs. They were incredibly dry and the sauce they came in was just weird. I think they were going for some kind of Asian fusion gravy but it just didn't work. I couldn't even sleep last night because it gave me the strangest heartburn. My partner had the beef cheek pierogies as an appetizer, and he hated them. The filling inside was lukewarm but the mushrooms that were served with the dish were piping hot. That could be overlooked if the dish had flavor but not amount of salt or pepper could save it. I had a Caesar salad as my main dish, which I thought was impossible to mess up but... it somehow lacked flavor too! There was no saltiness or nuttiness to their dressing which made the entire salad bland. I had ordered a side of Brussels sprouts and they were pretty good so I put them on the salad in an attempt to make it better. My partner ordered the burger which wasn't too bad but the fries looked like they came from the freezer section at Walmart. We're both foodies and truly don't mind spending a lot for a good meal - but for $145 I have to say this was one of the worst meals I've had in the Finger Lakes. read more

We had a great time at Main Deck! The restaurant itself is lovely - great views of the lake, big spacious interior with a beautiful bar. Plenty of unique menu items and a great wine list. We tried a French Rose that started our wine trip out perfectly, though there are plenty of selections from local wineries that caught our attention. The apple and arugula salad hit the spot (I appreciated being able to order a half size portion) and we split the Schnitzel, which was huge and served with spaetzle and pickled cabbage - a German classic that was done well. The real highlight of our visit was the service from bartender Nicholas. He was super friendly and helpful with recommendations for wineries and other suggestions in the area. He really brought our experience above and beyond. It was so convenient to just hop on over from our hotel, so we can't wait to visit this beautiful little gem next time we are in the area. read more

Ok, lock in fam. We were really excited about the view, aesthetic of the restaurant and the live music! All of those were incredible. The ownership outdid themselves. The waitress was great. Very personable and attentive. She deserves a great tip from everybody. Now to the food. After reading other reviews this seems to be the common trend. Appetizers: we got the corn fritters and the Brussels sprouts. Both exceeded expectations. With how good they were we all mentioned how excited we were for dinner. Entrees: Two people got the Halibut. It was cooked well but seemed like it was all over the place. If they would have removed 1 ingredient (any 1 of them) it would have tasted like it was a complete dish. 1 person got the fish fry AND the salmon. He's a two dinner kinda guy. Fish fry was very watery and lacked seasoning. The salmon he got was maybe only 4oz. It was more like salmon bites not a meal. I got the tomohawk pork chop. It was so good but they put a yellow sauce on it that tasted like Heinz mustard and it was swimming in it. Why would you put a ton of sauce on an already good Parmesan crust just to make it soggy and ruin the flavor? read more

We had drinks and ate at the tunnel bar. The Good: The location and the lake view is great. The Bad: The bar seemed understaffed. Only two bartenders to make drinks and deliver the food. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and it took almost 30 minutes before it came out. And it was the smallest plate of nachos I've literally ever seen at a restaurant. And for $16, waaaaaaay overpriced for the small amount you get(see pic). Our group ordered fish tacos, the smashburger and the mushroom burger. Again, service was extremely slow and took forever to come out. The food was ok, but not worth the price. Here's to hoping they can get the food to match the view someday! read more

This was the second company gathering for dinner and the staff, owner and food were beyond reproach again. Most of the food is locally sourced and/ or chef prepared in house. The first gathering was a couple of months ago with 15 attendees and this week we had 11. The owner was personable and attentive to our group and the wait staff was great. The ambiance in the back room was pleasant. The food: We ordered a variety of apps, including oysters, meatballs, cheese tray, meat tray, smoked wings and lobster balls. Each were delicious in their own way. The group's choices ranged from smash burgers (huge!), Schnitzel, duck, steak and mushroom tart. My wife and I ate there for lunch today. We ate outside . The lake view was wonderful. We were seated promptly and our server was there in less than ten minutes. The menu is very sparse I ordered short ribs. What I got was 4 or 5 pieces of boneless beef about the size of a silver dollar. Mashed potatoes and asparagus. I must say the food was excellent. But it was a so little amount. I walked out hungry. And it was 24; dollars. My wife had roast chicken and some kind of pasta. it was a very small amount but it was very good. And it was 20 dollars. Bill came - my wife had 2 glasses of wine. But it seems like we we charged for 3. I asked and didn't get a good explanation. Service was good. Ambiance was great.
