Oh people please stop and try this wonderful country diner. You won't be disappointed. The people are so friendly and the food is just plain good. Real comfort food and very relaxed and casual. Today the daily menu specials was We had Choice of Hamburger steak Open faced pork Chicken Fried Steak Beef tips and rice Mashed Potatoes Cabbage Coleslaw Corn Green beans Avocado salad Pinto beans Rice Black eyed peas And the best sweet tea Mom got Buttermilk Pie. The good, the bad, the ugly. My last breakfast there was over $22 after coffee and tip. Breakfast should be the least expensive thing on the menue, not the most expensive. It's eggs, not crab legs. Staff is mostly nice, but you will probably need to ask for the things you need. No one seems to be very happy about working there. Everything comes from food providers. Canned gravy, battered and frozen fish, canned vegetables. No one actually cooks anymore. they heat things up that Sysco and Ben E. Keith brings. I bet the food storage area has 300 one gallon cans of processed food. Lunch specials are fairly priced. Burgers are great, but too expensive. Fried catfish is good. Clientele is mostly 85-115 years old. I guess those are the people who can afford to spend $25 for breakfast. read more

This is the closest you'll get to eating in someone's home -- the menu is filled with classic, down-home American dishes. Breakfast is served all day, the lunch specials are very reasonably priced, and there are daily dinner specials including the ever-popular chicken fried steak, hamburger steak, meatloaf, and grilled chicken. Desserts are always changing, so you may or may not have the same choices on repeat visits. But, I liked that it was not always the same 3 options you might find at other places. The staff is very friendly. I visited about twice a week -- sometimes more -- to sit at the counter, have some coffee, and most of the time order breakfast. It's a hoot to just watch the servers interact with each other and their regulars. I've told them before, "It's like dinner and a show!" I don't have a favorite server -- they're all wonderful -- but I will tell you to watch out for Cathy! She doesn't take any lip off anyone, she gives as good as she gets, and she's alway quick with a comeback. BUT! She's really a softie, so don't let her fool you! I love Kinfolks. Our stay in Nacogdoches was only for 5 months, I definitely miss it, and it is the standard by which I measure all other diners. read more

In today's world, this has to be the best customer service I've seen in a while. Though I can't remember her name, I'm horrible about that, she called everyone at our table by name. My wife and I ordered one plate to share, and she had the kitchen put together two plates for us with everything already cut in half and portioned. I wish I would've took a picture. I have called in several orders to this place to be picked up, since my dad is elderly and can't get out. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME., the waitress puts me on hold, I wait 30 minutes, then hangs up on me. I can tell which days she works by the number of times this has happened. They need more reliable waitresses there, or at least one who knows how to answer the phone and take an order. read more

Cozy family style dining for a couple or a group. Sunday afternoons are our favorite when they have a special menu and everything on it is hot and tastes a lot like Grandma's. Just an average restaurant. Nothing special. Our group had chicken fried steak and hamburgers. The chicken fried steak was thick, crisp, and not at all greasy. The mashed potatoes are made fresh, however, they were dry. The gravy is most likely packaged. The burger is large and my friends said it was great. Their onion rings are hand dipped and they are crispy. I observed two cakes sitting on two different racks in the open without lids, one on the second rack from the floor. I would hate to think this would be the cake I would be served as dessert. Yuk! Dirty! The service was not that great. We were there at about 3:00pm when the restaurant was not busy. read more

We've lived in Nac since August 2017 and just found this place. We weren't looking, really; just had occasion to stay at the adjacent hotel for a few nights. I wasn't expecting much when we visited for Sunday breakfast and when the food came out it didn't look like a LOT of food or even like the portions one might get at another family style restaurant, chain or not. The environment is nothing special, but their teapot motif and the collection of teapots placed around the windowsill was an interesting and unique feature. We were VERY pleasantly surprised with the quality of the burgers we had today. Seasoned well and a quality cut of beef. Very, very tasty. The onion rings were really, REALLY good, too. WAY better than the Dennys across the road. I can't remember the last time I told the wait staff to give the cooks my compliments, but I did today. Add to it that Tuesdays are two burgers for the price of one and it was a recipe for an excellent experience. read more

My husband and I came in for lunch, we are traveling through the area. The most recent review was 2 months old, but they all looked consistently positive. The staff was great and welcoming, atmosphere is a local diner but very comfortable, very clean. I had the fried catfish with a side salad and fries, my husband had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. We cleaned our plates - it was delicious! The fish and chicken were cooked perfectly. For what seems like a "hole in the wall" diner, we were pleasantly surprised. Wish we had a place like this back home! I'd like to say this place has improved much to my liking. The fly problem has been addressed and much improved! Their food is wonderful and the wait staff are always friendly, kind and efficient. We love their breakfasts, their fantastic hamburgers made to order and their fish is so good! On Fridays and Saturdays after 4, they offer all you can eat fish; I make a real effort to go on one of those days for sure. I love this place! read more

I drive a truck and eat a lot of crappy food. Not because I want to, but because so many good truck stop cafes no longer exist, and all too often, fast food is all that's handy. Today, for instance, I ate McDonald's for breakfast and lunch. I wanted a decent sit down meal for supper. I knew Kinfolks was coming up, and there is parking next door at the truck stop. Kinfolks ain't the best cafe by far, but are well above average. I've never had a bad meal there. Iced tea is good. Service is excellent. Food is tasty. I'll keep stopping.
