Without question, my favorite Chinese buffet, mainly because of the crab legs which are always exceptionally delicious. Unlike other buffets where you must wait around for the bin to be filled, there is never a shortage of legs. Also, the best pork ribs that you can find, and there is a small bar with steak and broiled chicken wings that you don't find in most other buffets. All of the other typical dishes are better than any other buffet that I have visited. The only knock of King Buffet is their so-so sushi bar. Keep in mind, the restaurant is usually packed on weekends from 5:30pm - 7pm. Overall, you can't go wrong if you like Chinese buffets. Dinner for two with a tip is under $35, which is a remarkable bargain. read more

After I've been to many different types of buffets I can honestly say that the buffet layout and quality of the food is on the top of my list of all you eat buffets for the price. We were in the area making the trip up to Storm King sculpture park, and after a good walk around in fresh area, decided to search for a Chinese buffet. Because that just makes sense. This place turned out to be great! We came for dinner around 5:30 and by 6:20 when we were leaving, all the tables were taken with a huge line of hungry people outside.. They have two hot buffet counters.. everything your soul might desire, starting with dim sum, duck baos, chicken broccoli, chicken skewers, fried dumplings... to frozen pizza! And of course there are the fresh crab legs in butter. They do a great job at keeping everything stocked up. There's also a smaller counter in the back with BBQ buffet (strangely enough), hamburgers, and pigs in a blanket. Party continues.. counter with sushi, oysters, and boiled jumbo shrimp with cocktail sauce. And of course the dessert table with soft ice cream! All in all: we ate a lot, and it was great. I've been coming here for over 10 years. I used to come with a group of friends and we would BYOB and it was ok. There are better Buffets in Queens . There is one in College Point. However we live and traveled to NYMA when my oldest son went there and we would stop by. The food and price is good. The place is clean and the selection of food is very good. Whenever I have out of town guests it's my inexpensive go to place and I don't like to cook so this works for me. read more

I love King Buffet! Where else can you get all the fresh shrimp and snow crab that you can eat for $12.00? Food is always fresh because they sell so much of it and it's all very tasty too. Seaweed salad is excellent too. If your selective in what you chose to gorge yourself on, and don't be s total glutton like over been on a numbers of occasions, you can have a healthy meal here with out feeling bloated when you leave. Sushi is their only week link, not so great, but I'm still giving them five stars because everything else is awesome. P.S watch out for random sneezers and never take the top plate. read more

Terrible service! Waiter was constantly looking over my shoulders which made it uncomfortable to enjoy the meal! They had absolutely no type of manners! When I spoke to the manager about a price change because they charged me for dinner when I sat down for lunch(which is remotely cheaper) and the manager laughed in my face! Today, on mother's day...I took my mom to this buffet. Every other day we pay 10$ a person, but today out of all the days the price was 23.50 per person. They did not tell us anything but at the end the Bill was 80$ for 3 people. Supposedly it was "lobster special" yet there was no lobster! The staff was rude and not helpful. My father in law wanted to come to this restaurant since he had heard great things from a friend. Me and my husband are not big fans of buffets like this, but figured it was worth a try so we decided to come with my in-laws. It wasn't anything special and as a vegetarian there was hardly anything for me to eat. Basically anything that could have been vegetarian (fried rice, lo mein) had meat in it. The food did seem to be somewhat fresher than most chinese food buffets, but I'm not really sure since I hardly ate anything. The dessert selection was decent, but I don't think I'd go back. I've been coming here for a few years as my son says it's his favorite. I started here about 10 yrs ago and the food was good, but I could see that it was too inexpensive for them to offer a better selection. It actually improved when they raised the prices. Now they have sushi and sashimi along with Chinese fare and some others. I usually go for the sushi. It has improves also but it doesn't compare with sushi places, but is getting better. Always the salmon is decent, the tuna is previously frozen, so it is mealy sometimes. Anyhow, it is very good for the $. This buffet restaurant is a quality place for A BUFFET RESTAURANT. I'm amused by people who come on to this site to criticize King Buffet for the typical qualities of a buffet restaurant. If you want a quiet, intimate dining experience with five star quality cuisine, then you should go to a fine dining establishment. This is not it. What this King Buffet offers is a vast variety of delicious, fresh Chinese foods in a relaxed atmosphere. They offer crab legs during dinner hours and sometimes have dinner specials including lobster----all at a reasonable price. As such, the place IS often crowded during peak meal times. I agree that, whenever you dine at a buffet, you are unfortunately going to come across families who do not supervise their children or adults who are hogs and behave like they are at their last supper. This is not the fault of this restaurant. Also, if the food were subpar and making people ill (as stated by one reviewer) I doubt that this restaurant would be so consistently crowded. My family and I have been coming to this location for years and have always enjoyed the food. Do I wish it were less crowded? Of course. The only thing that made this experience bearable was Linden and Kalsang, our amazing servers. They really established their phenomenal abilities as waiters. Love LOVE love this place! I've been going here since I was a kid. The wait is so LONG on a Fri, Sat, Sun because the food is amazing. They have the best crab rangoons in the world, amazing seafood, chinese food, you name it. The food selection ranges from general tso chicken, to salt and pepper shrimp, salmon, crab stuffed clams, veggies, donuts, french fries, pizza, fried chicken, stuffed shrimp, dim sum, rib tips, the list goes on!They have an ice cream machine as well. There's a desert section with fruits, sushi, brownies, cookies, choc pudding, rice pudding, all kinds of stuff. Take out is the easiest since sometimes the wait is long. The staff is nice as well. While I've adored the food in the past, I was very dissatisfied with the service we received today. I've been away at college and when i came home, was hoping to have a good lunch at King Buffet. As always, my father clipped coupons from the MOST RECENT mailer we received. The coupon had a misprint, someone forgot to change it from 3/31/13 to 3/31/14. The hostess refused to honor it, and my dad had to speak to a manager who ended up arguing with us saying we kept the coupon from last year. Why would we keep an expired coupon? My dad goes through the coupon mailers every time they come out to replace any old coupons with the latest up to date ones. Eventually they honored the coupon after yelling at us and disrupting our meal . EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this service and will be looking for a new buffet closer to my University. If there's a missprint it should be honored because its not our fault you didn't double check it, and we wouldn't keep a coupon for over a year. When planned to go to the buffet last weekend, we didn't have the coupon, which meant it came in the mail this week. Would give half a star if I could just because the manager that was there was so incredibly rude and very condescending towards us. read more

I wanted to update my review because King Buffet I feel have "upped" their game a bit. We come here often, not because the food is incredible, it's because my teenagers eat like maniacs, and they can chow down as much as they please. Very good lunch value, especially on weekdays with coupons-less than $9 per person. King buffet has definitely improved their sushi offerings. The sushi items now look inviting and are very tasty, with lots of selections. Their egg drop soup is a winner as well. Everything appears to be pretty fresh, however the problem with this kind of buffet is that some selections have veggies sitting for awhile, and they become soggy and unappetizing. For example their Hunan beef and chicken. There are some veggie selection as well like: green beans, eggplant and bok choy. I do wish there were more offerings with Tofu though-they have non. My wife is a big fan of their steak, my kids love the fried shrimp and lo-mein. So why just 3 stars? Well, its a buffet. By its nature, the offerings are not made to offer, so it stays awhile, food gets soggy and not crisp (sesame chicken for example). And while I appreciate the fact they have eggplant in garlic sauce, I've had much, and I mean much better examples of this dish. I don't even try King Buffet's version anymore. I have always enjoyed eating here, but the last few times I have been disappointed. The food just doesn't taste the same anymore. Last night being it was Friday I expected to eat seafood but there was not a very good selection considering it is Lent. As we were going to the register to pay and get singles for tip we were stopped by a bus boy and said we had to pay at the table which I have never done before. We gave him the money for the bill, with that he asked "what about a tip". Seriously!!! They raised their prices up $2.00 the food was horrible and now they are asking for tips. And to top it off when he was cleaning the table he was throwing the silverware on the plates making it very obvious he was angry. I've been coming to this place since they opened. This is the best Chinese buffet in the whole Hudson Valley! I have been all over the Hudson Valley and checked out other Chinese (or pretend to be) buffets. . I have read many other reviews complaining about the weekend crowd, Yes they are crowded on weekends due to the good food they serve and the good turn over (more than I can say about other buffets) If you want to beat the crowds get there around 4pm on weekends, less of a wait. I have sent numerous friends and family there and they all say it's the best with no complaints. read more
