King Cab exceeded my expectations. I ordered the chicken platter which was only 9.50 (bring cash!) and it was delicious--loaded with fresh ingredients that mixed perfectly together. It had a lot of chicken in it too, they weren't stingy with it at all! The worker running the truck was attentive and clearly puts love into each order. I stopped by this local cart for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the rice and quality of the meat. The line here is usually not very long, the service is fast. I ordered a Chicken & Lamb Over Rice - the consistency of the sauce had a good balance, the viscosity was perfect and was able to provide an even coating to the individual grains of rice. The fries on top provided an additional dimension to the platter, but the highlight of this platter was definitely the portion of lentils that was mixed in with the rice. This was a unique touch that I have not seen at any other halal cart and truly catapulted King Cab Halal into a league of its own. This was close to where I was staying so I stopped by for lunch. This food cart is open 24/7 which is good if you have those late night drunchies. I ordered the chicken over rice ($9). They also had fries and some small bits of crunchy tortilla chips in it too which was an interesting surprise. There were even pickles and jalapeños which the other food cart places didn't have. The portions were pretty standard but this place was a lot cheaper which was nice. The food also felt cleaner than the other chicken over rices that I had in the area. I didn't think I'd ever find a place that could rival Halal Guys but this is actually even tastier. It has a lot of spice. I had the lamb over rice with extra white and red sauce (per people's recommendations). Not only was that good, it also came with a few fries on top (mediocre), some jalepenos on the side (a nice touch) and salad. When taking bites with all the stuff together it was fantastic! One of my favorite meals in NYC. I've been to NYC 4 times and find the local dishes here very average and not good like other cities in the country. Very disappointing for a world -class city! This cart is located in a dark corner by the Hudson Yards area. It's not a busy corner at the street and the owner isn't friendly but the food is really good and very trainable priced. I ordered two lamb gyros, a chicken. Plate and a fish plate. All good but I wish the fish better was crispy. I docked 1 star off as the owner isn't friendly at all and asking him for ketchup and sauces to go was difficult. He has none. My favorite halal spot in the neighborhood, I go at least once a week. They have brown rice available which is a rarity among the halal carts. That alone is reason enough to go. Our office ordered from here for lunch via seamless. They forgot 2 of our meals out of 9. I got the gyro sandwich ($7) and the falafel over rice ($6). The gyro had plenty of lamb and was spicy - I asked for tahini and green sauce. The falafel plate came with fries, salad, rice and 7 pieces of falafel. The fries were flavorless and soggy so I didn't eat them. The salad was covered in a white sauce that I didn't ask for so I didn't eat that either. The rice was good and the falafel that wasn't covered in the white sauce was salty but had a nice bite and flavor to it. It's good if you want some cheap halal but maybe order at the cart for a fresher meal instead of getting delivery. read more

I pass their spot nearly every day for four years! It got to a point where I didn't even see them b/c, hey, they're always there! Okay, so today was the day! I'm starving and yup they're here! Checked out their extensive menu. I chose the falafel sandwich. I had to wait, and wait...you get the point. And, oh, did I mention I was starving??? I checked my attitude when I realized, yeah, these guys are ALWAYS here, and they're ALWAYS working! Turns out they informed me that it would be a few minutes since they were making fresh ones for me. Nice!! I have to give kudos to Yelp for helping me discover this place. I feel like people aren't normally too friendly to street food around here, so for a place like this to be highly rated, even with a small number of reviews, was enough to spark some intrigue. I'm not quite sure how the daily operation of the cart works, but it seems like there's variation in the menu depending on who's serving on a given day. But the consistent things so far include: a lot of delicious meat, a nice little side salad of lettuce and goodies, a handful of french fries, and a great formula of white and red sauce. Every kind of meat I've had here, from the gyro to the fish has been more than satisfying. I'm always partial to lamb, so that would be my top recommendation, but in general, I'd recommend starting with some mixed options and finding out what you like from there. The red sauce is a bit spicier than what you'd normally find, so proceed with some caution if you're sensitive. They don't necessarily drown everything in sauce which might be a plus for some people, but they're amendable if you're an addict as well. The rice, sauce, and meat combo go together splendidly, and I have to praise their meats for being well seasoned and tenderly cooked out. If you're lucky, you'll get some extra fries or some extra falafel with your order, and the falafel has a wonderful crunch and flavor. By now, I've had most of their stuff, so I feel comfortable saying that I don't expect anything to disappoint. If you haven't spent a lot of time trying to find places to get lunch in the area, then you might not be able to appreciate the incredible value that King Cab Halal offers. It's pretty much impossible to feed yourself for less than $12, much less half that, which is what food here typically costs. Their slightly more expensive ($8 vs. $6) option of mixed grill could literally feed you for a whole day with the amount of food they give you. Also, even on an absolute scale, the halal food here is good. It may not be the very best I've ever had in my life, but it's up there, and it's more than enough for what it represents against its surrounding options. Plus, they're real people people, and by that, I mean that being a customer here feels like having a relationship with the person making your food. If you're looking for something not quite offered on the menu, they'll mix and match. They list a few mixed grill options, but I've had friends come here that have figured out their own thing. They undercharged my group once for something, and when I told them about the error, they left the change they gave me. So if you're looking for anything, my only advice would be the speak up, and I'm sure you'll figure something out. I expect to be a loyal customer for as long as they're here and I work around here, so I can only hope that they plan on sticking around for a while. read more

Honestly this was one of the best halal cart experiences I've had in NYC for several reasons. I was on my way home from a night out and this cart was conveniently located on 28th st and 10th ave, just one avenue away from where I had gone out. When I arrived, the gentleman operating the cart prepared my food lightning fast, must have took under 2 minutes. I got the lamb over rice (highly recommend and this is always my go to choice) and it was just as expected and more! It came with FRIES distributed throughout which tasted incredible. This is a new flavor sensation and I don't know why all halal carts are not offering this!
