So thoughtful, and such a great touch to start the evening for us. We decided to order the family style menu and we enjoyed the whole dinner. All of the dishes on the menu were really good and great price for $74pp. I wish we had a 4th in our party so we couldve had the duck, but we'll definitely be returning to do so. Came back here for dinner largely to get the cheesecake. It's certainly unique and huge - both this and the caramelized pineapple could feed 4 people each. The cheese is on the lighter side and the textural combination is nice, sort of like a baklava cheesecake but crispier and lighter. I like heavier cheesecakes though. Drinks: golden negroni was spot on, but didn't like the sangria. They had a medjool cocktail that went off the menu to my disappointment. Appetizers: the octopus carpaccio was the best and I'd order again. The tuna tartare was a little too heavy on the sauce flavor, and the golden beets were unmemorable. The yellowtail was good I think, but didn't stand out either. Mains: the duck borek has more of a sausage like meat texture. I thought it was decent but the meat being duck didn't do much and I've had better boreks in Astoria. It comes with a vegetable side that is a nice offset. Mixed feelings towards Zou Zou's. Having dined at most of Quality Group's restaurants, we had high hopes for Zou Zou's and booked a table for dinner on Easter. Walking in, it's a stunning restaurant and on this night, not too crowded which made us wonder why they would seat us next to the servers station away from dozens of much nicer tables. Note that I booked through Open Table where I have Gold status which I thought meant you get a better table. Next fail, we wanted to start with a Mediterranean dip, but they only offer that if you go with a $39 tray with multiple dips. Not something a party of two would be able to east, so we skipped apps altogether. Sucks too, because several tables had it and it liked amazing, just too much for two. For dinner I had the Yemeni Au Police Kebab, Filet Mignon which was absolutely delicious. The peppercorn Hawaii really sweetened the meat's flavor. So high marks for the steak. My wife had two small dishes which she wasn't as thrilled with, Grilled Artichokes which were too dry for her liking and Manti, which she liked. Main takeaways. My friends and I had reservations here on a Sunday for brunch. We arrived about an hour after they had opened but half an hour early for our reservations. There were only a few tables seated so they were able to seat us early. Let me just say that by the time we paid the bill and got up to leave the place was packed! The first thing you'll notice is the beautiful space and decor. They've done such a great job. You don't feel piled on top of the other diners and you can take in the beautiful interior designs while actually having pleasant converstations with your tablemates. The next thing that will capture your attention, if you're like me, is the menu. I love reading menus and the descriptions of the dishes. I was so intrigued by the creativity that I was looking up different things like "green tahini" and taking pictures of the menu and sending family members text messages about various items like the manti. I even felt compelled to look up the original chefs who helped open this place and wasn't surprised to learn about chefs Juliana Latif and Madeline Sperling (especially chef Latif's Lebanse and Jordanian background). The staff were friendly and attentive, the restrooms were clean and spacious, the food was good, the ambience was perfect. I absolutely loved this place. Came for an early dinner on a Saturday and found this gem tucked away near MSG. The service was phenomenal- all the staff were kind. Our bartender gave us great recommendations on what to order and made great conversation with us. We got 3 things to share for 2 people and confirmed it was definitely a lot. This review is for their private dining. I have zero photos lol but if you're looking for a private dining space, this one is literally perfection. There are several options depending on your party size - I did the Parlour Room which accommodates up to 18 people. I had 16 people and it was the perfect size - intimate, but not cramped at all. Ambiance feels elevated and chic, so it's a great option to celebrate something special. If ordering bottles of wine/champagne and or doing open bar, you will easily hit the minimum. The food is PLENTIFUL - honestly way more than I was expecting so people will definitely not leave hungry and there's no need to do additional à la carte dishes. For decor, they supply candle votives (only around 3) - I would recommend ordering 2-3 bouquets of flowers for the table that you can order through the restaurant. Service was impeccable. And if doing a surprise, get the host in on it. When we checked in, they didn't say anything about the room or other guests and instead grabbed two menus to "show us to our table". read more

Zouzou is an experience! The ambiance and attention to detail is the first thing you notice as you walk in, and then you start looking at the food being served and cooked and you are wowed by both! We went without a reservation on a Monday night and got a seat at the bar right away. The service was prompt and good! We tried some wine and a signature drink both of which were amazing. We got the dip tower, and everything was so good. The big thick homemade pita was amazing! We also got the grilled artichoke and it was by far the best artichoke I've ever had! Let's start with the ambiance and service since that made the biggest impact.. For starters I wouldn't really classify this spot as Mediterranean new American. There is a distinct spice pallet that is more Israeli and middle eastern. Lots of outdoor seating but no heaters. I know it just got cool but if you have that amount of seating outside you would like there would be heaters. The service was pretty terrible. For a table of 2 we were there for about 2 hours. There was one waitress for the entire outside table section and plenty of bussers and people delivering food but our table never got cleared. Drinks that were empty before appetizers remained on the table until dinner arrived. Appetizers were never cleared by the time they arrived with our dinner plates so there was no place to put the food down and he couldn't get anyone to help. We ended up having to stack plates ourselves on the table next to us that had left. That table remained until cleared for about 20 minutes. It was just messy, unorganized and felt very not attentive especially given the amount of people. The food was decent but not worth the price. We were a table of two and opted for the $75 chefs menu. Honestly it's way too much food for two people and honestly wouldn't recommend it, even though it's a good deal. The standouts we had were the fattoush, manti, Bronzino and the rice. The fattoush is super fresh and flavorful. People rave about the dips and truly they are just dips. Nothing crazy outrageous to me... The Bronzino is very simply done but filleted and grilled to perfection. This is not typically a place that I usually dined at, however I wanted to use up my Chase credit from Infatuation and this was one their list. The place itself is super vibey and super lively even on a 8 pm on a Monday!! I think it is commonly used for work dinners - solid place for groups (a lot of the people there were actually in a large group or it seemed like they were there for a work dinner). It is super spacious with both outdoor and indoor seating. The severs were extremely friendly and nice - they gave great recommendations for food and cocktails especially if it was your first time there. Some of the cocktails can be made into mocktails which was really nice. The menu was not huge but a lot of the dishes sounded really good: -Octopus Carpaccio: So fresh and yummy, very light -Tuna Tartare: another solid dish, very light and fresh and a great starter. Highly recommend -Whole Lobster Kebab: This was alright - they pretty much come on a "sword" and it's pieces of lobster on cabbage. The lobster was a little on the tough side. -Brussels Sprouts: Really cannot go wrong with Brussel sprouts -Roasted Sweet Potato: This was another dish that was really good, highly recommend. After looking around for a dinner reservation for 5-6 people, all of our local favorites were booked up. We anticipated to find the same at Zou Zou's, but were pleasantly surprised to find an opening at prime time on Thursday evening. Our table was ready upon arrival and we were greeted by the friendly hosts and seated promptly. Our server was attentive, paid close attention to any table allergies and intolerances, and our waters were kept full and our plates served and cleared by the team as needed. Of our group, the majority of us got the Field Trip cocktail, made with mezcal, mint, and cucumber, along with the herbal liqueur Genepy, and a salt and pepper syrup, which was enjoyable. For appetizers, we ordered their take on a fattoush salad with red cabbage and pita crisps, their potato latkes which were perfectly crispy and came with 4, and their dips tower which included several varieties along with pita bread and crudité. For entrees, we got the lobster skewer, the filet mignon au poivre skewer, the Moroccan fried chicken for two, and the duck borek. The portions on the mains were sizeable, and everything was delicious - but for me, the favorite was easily the filet mignon skewer... and I don't usually eat red meat. It's such a beautiful space, too, feels very upscale / and is adjacent (attached) to the Pendry Hotel. The entrance is in the Manhattan West plaza right by Whole Foods and across from Daily Provisions,...not necessarily street side. Nice ambiance. Easy location in somewhat corporate plaza by the port (midtown/w 39th port). It's a bit annoying that the dips cannot be purchase separately. So if you want an appetizer you have to get ALL of them for 39$. They were very tasty but it was a lot. I also got the branzino which was delicious but the chard it came with was a bit overly bitter. I'll start by admitting I am a Steak and potato lover. I'll seek out the best steak house in town so this was really a one off for me. The take away is it's important to step out of your comfort zone as each dish was amazing and different from the next! The lighting is dim, seating comfortable and the back ground music just right. Our server was, "Amelie" and notch, period! She didn't hover and didn't need to as there was an army of people looking over the tables. Your glass does not get below half full. We completely over did it with food but I can honestly say there was nothing I did not like. Started with my normal Hendricks Martini, no Blue Cheese olives but it was mixed perfectly. Moved on to the appetizers: Started with the Yellow Tail and Oysters. The Yellow tail was served with a Clear sauce (not Soy) but very good, The Oysters came prepped with their mixture of Horseradish and hot sauces. It was a perfect mixture and the oysters amazing. DIP tower: It is served with fresh vegetable to dip as well as a Flat Bread. All of the dips were excellent but the one off I loved was the "Green Tahini". I was told it has Avocado I believe as well as many other flavors but just blew my mind with flavor. Hot Kasseri Cheese: This is served Flaming! Just a really nice cheese you spread on your bread. Wonderful. Salads: Tried a few and can't honestly remember: Golden Beets was again something I would not have ordered but it was so full of flavor. Fattoush was again something that was shockingly outstanding! Main Course: Had the Filet Kabob, Lamb Chops and fresh Salmon. The Filet was as expected just on a skewer but the Lamb was out of this world. Full of flavor and not buried in any sauce to cover up poor cooking. Just amazing... The Salmon! If I had to pick one this this is it. I am from the Pacific northwest and love Salmon. I wait all year for Copper River and always buy as much as I can of the King so I do know a bit about Salmon. I have have eaten Salmon from Anchorage Alaska to Seattle. This was Arguably the BEST salmon I have ever had! Again not covered in heavy sauce just a nice filet cooked to absolute perfection! It was so moist and delicate I am still shocked! Sides we had the Brussel Sprouts and Wadi Rum Jeweled Rice. Sprouts were cooked perfect and I wish we had more. The rice was a lot and after this meal might have been the one thing we didn't devour. Desert: Kataifi Cheesecake and a chocolate dish. The Cheese cake is something I have never experienced. It's not tradition. The inside is heavy and soft at the same time kinda combined and extremely rich! It looks amazing and seems everyone was getting it but not my thing. I'm more traditional I guess. The chocolate dish (Can't recall its name) was as expected... If you are in the area and want to treat your senses to a five star dining experience you have to try this out! Located near Hudson yards, this spot is located near the shopping area and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Service here is kind and attentive. We ordered their dip tower, grilled branzino, Mediterranean fried chicken, steak, and a side of brussel sprouts (along with some drinks). The dip tower, although delicious was more of a plate than a tower. Nonetheless, the dips were delicious and was paired with veggies and soft, fluffy bread. Their grilled branzino was a bit underwhelming and didn't stand out. Their fried chicken was also alright and a huge portion (note: it is for two). And, the steak was delicious but definitely cooked on the more rare side (when we asked for medium rare). We were greeted with moody lighting, fun decor and great service! They have an extensive cocktail menu and would recommend a cocktail versus a wine/ beer as that is what they are known for. Came here for a business lunch, so the vibes were definitely different compared to a date night, given that this is in Manhattan West it was no surprise that everyone around me was also talking shop with other stakeholders. We ordered: Appetizers- Three Dips (Chickpea, Ember-Roasted Eggplant, Whipped Ricotta) French Fries Roasted Sweet Potato Mains- Grilled Branzino Whole Lobster Kebab Salad Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad Dips can be pretty straightforward and basic, however the three dips platter was aesthetically arranged and for a second, we thought the black garlic oil garnish for the Chickpea was caviar. The Whipped Ricotta was such a hit and nice surprise; it went really well with the Saffron Apricots and in a heartbeat I would order this one again. The french fries tasted like an elevated version of McDonald's fries, but there needs to be better dips than the ketchup which lowkey masked the umamai-ness of the main attraction. The branzino was divine and thankfully didn't have any bones, the accompanying Escarole was charred way too hard and I found it a bit of a pain to cut into and eat; bok choy or a softer vegetable would better complement the fish. The one thing that left me scratching my head was the Whole Lobster salad because on paper it sounded bougie, but once it arrived to the table, it looked like a disassembled salad from Whole Foods with a giant sword holding bits of lobster on a line. If I were to order this dish, I'd ask for the salad to be mixed and there to be less/no onions-there was a slight bowl of onions that got scrapped so that felt like a miss or something that could've easily been avoided. This felt like a more sit down/fancy version of Cava/The Gyro Project, however the food menu during lunch can feel a bit limiting; there are only two seafood options. read more

This lively Mediterranean spot in Manhattan Plaza West serves tasty, often creative interpretations of Mediterranean classics, in a refined but unpretentious and fun atmosphere. I ordered a bottle of white for the table which worked with most entrees and it wasn't exactly what I was expecting/wanting to drink, so we kept the bottle for the group and she provided a separate glass of another wine complementary. A sure sign of a great somm. The 5 dip sampler with crudite and pita is a must. We got extra crudite which is great since the portions of dip are generous. Among our group, we had the Tagine fried chicken which was served with injera bread, lobster kabob, chicken with green buttermilk, and the charred broccoli and brussel sprouts sides. Yum! The fried chicken looked stunning but wasn't anything that special. The chicken was tasty. The lobster was also great but a little awkward on a skewer. Typically we have enjoyed the halloumi, the Branzino and Bass for two. While tonight was not my favorite meal there, I highly recommend this place. My advice would be to order more classics like the lamb/beef and fish dishes instead of the chicken entrees. They're sure to shine brighter and provide a flavorful meal. Thanks Zou Zou! Stopped in, Mediterranean food with a twist - this by Hudson Yards. Very busy when we were there - a private event upstairs, and lots of people at the bar and waiting on seats. We had the pre fixe meal for 3 which cuts out the cheese dip and the duck borek (only for 4+). The 5 house dips mix was excellent (bread was good though, like a thick scallion pancake), the yellowtail was solid but unspectacular, the manti (beef dumplings) was only ok (spiced ground beef), and the fatoush salad was good. Mains - the grilled branzino was smoky (the veggie was good smoked though, like a bok choy or similar with deep flavors, very good), as was the yemini au poivre kebab was smokey but lacked much other flavor as it was tough and overcooked. Wadi rum rice was interesting color and texture, harder, and charred broccoli was ok.. smokey theme throughout. Dessert - The kataifi cheesecake was lighter than expected, crunch and a bit of tart fruit with the pink dusting. We added a couple items to try: Fried chicken added was good for 2+ people, and was only ok (semi-moist but the flavor didn't carry through much other than the curry/smokey sense), though the added cherry lamb chops were perfectly cooked and delicious. Overall some good, a lot of smokey/grilled flavors so if you don't like that, might be tough. I was very happy with my experience! Initially I had a reservation for 2 and we were seated at a table behind a small wall and wedged between another table; this table honestly should not exist. However, after requesting to be reseated, the waitstaff happily obliged and helped us be reseated to a nicer location. Food was brought out in a timely manner and portion sizes were enormous. Dining at Zou Zou's was an experience. With a stylish interior and dimmed lights, it's fancy yet lively throughout the night. We went for the Chef's Feast (for others wondering, the main question we had was whether we needed to pick from each category, but actually everything on the menu is included and shared across the table). It started off strong with a tower of dips that were all unique yet all delicious. My favorite was the eggplant, and the carrot was slightly too sweet for my tastes, but overall all were good and the variety was enjoyable. The crudite served as a good backdrop, as the bazlama was a bit too thick for us -- don't fill up too early, there's plenty of food coming up! The manti were delicious, we loved the fattoush, and the yellowtail was good as well. For the mains, we had the branzino which was good (but I don't like branzino much in general), and the kebab was out of stock so we enjoyed the duck borek instead, which was probably my favorite of the night. The rice was also delicious, with tons of texture and inclusions that made a normally plain dish quite exciting. The broccoli was alright too. And finally, for dessert, we got an entire kataifi cheesecake to split between us -- too much for sure, but good enough that we could have finished it if we tried. The cheesecake had a wonderful flavor -- classic yet unique -- and the texture of the kataifi made this a dessert to remember. Overall, it was a wonderful meal with plenty of food -- too much for the small table perhaps -- and beautiful presentation. If you go thru the back entrance it is thru the Manhattan West building. It is a beautiful building. The restaurant itself is stunning. This is in the Quality Branded restaurant, so think Quality Italian, Bad Roman, Don Ainge. Thus nothing is minimalist, its a bit whimsical. This place is very good for groups (tons of booths) but also bar section looked very fun too. The staff took great care of us. You have to do the dip platter! They were all very taste, shout out to Whipped Ricotta. They were not stingy with pita - they got us more in a heartbeat. The mains and sides were phenomenal. Steak kebab was beyond extra - it comes out on a sword. The latakes and brussels were a good mix of sweet and savory. I loved it all. Cocktails were creative and top to bottom they hit. Favorite was the Golden Negroni. My biggest issue is the identity. I thought it was Bad Roman. For a mediterranean restaurant I wish it had more culture in the space. read more

My wife and I came here for a date night, and overall it turned into a really enjoyable meal with a few standout dishes. I started with a cocktail called Field Trip, which was surprisingly creative. The Salt & Pepper syrup added a unique layer of flavor, balanced nicely by the freshness of mint and cucumber. Light, refreshing, and with a subtle kick -- a really interesting combination. We then had the Dip selection, which is supposed to be one of their signature items. Among the five sauces, the Ember-Roasted Eggplant was the most outstanding. It had a smoky depth and a strong eggplant flavor that really came through. However, the other four sauces were a bit too light and subtle -- not quite bold or distinctive enough. Because of that, the overall dish felt like it fell slightly short of its "signature" expectation, even though it's still something worth trying. For my main, I ordered the Yemeni Au Poivre Kebab made with Filet Mignon. The meat was tender, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the sauce. Definitely one of the highlights of the night. We also shared the Grilled Branzino, which was beautifully cooked with crispy skin and zero fishy taste. Paired with escarole, it was flavorful, clean, and absolutely a dish I'd come back for. The Wadi Rum Jeweled Rice was another pleasant surprise -- colorful, aromatic, and almost like digging into a bowl of hidden treasures. Portions were generous across the board. The Charred Broccoli wasn't really my cup of tea. It had a smoky and slightly spicy profile, but overall it didn't stand out for me. We finished with the Kataifi Cheesecake. The kataifi on top gave it a fun bird's-nest look and added texture. Good overall, though I felt the walnuts were a bit too much. Zou Zou's is the kind of place that makes you wonder if you've been eating wrong your entire life. I went in hungry and left convinced I'd just had one of the best meals New York has offered me in years. The service? Impeccable--like a well-choreographed dance. The drinks? Quite good, but let's be honest: they were merely the opening act for the food, which stole the whole show and demanded an encore. We began with the famed five dips, which I swear deserve their own showcase billing. Hummus, baba ganoush, ricotta, tahini, and their crudité ensemble--each one an aria of flavor, harmonizing so beautifully it was worth the trip just for the bread-and-dip affair. And speaking of bread: imagine a lovechild between pillowy pita and a cloud of focaccia. Yes, it was that good. The fattoush salad? I could eat it every day for the rest of my life and never complain. Crisp, fresh, perfectly dressed--basically salad royalty. Then came the grilled artichoke: slightly awkward to navigate in a nice dining room, but so divine that dignity quickly took a backseat. The manti dumplings were an out-of-body experience, at least according to my mom and boyfriend, who looked like they'd found their new reason for living. I stuck to the garlic dipping sauce (meatless life), but even just that was a masterpiece. If sauces were jewelry, this one was a diamond. Tuna carpaccio arrived like silk on a plate--fresh, light, kissed with chili crunch that whispered rather than shouted. And then, the main courses: the branzino. I don't use the word "transcendent" lightly, but this was it. Simply grilled, touched with butter, yet somehow elevated to the divine. The filet mignon kebabs earned rapturous praise from the birthday duo (mom and boyfriend), and if jewel rice is ever declared currency, I would happily pay my rent in bowls of it. The spicy broccoli divided the table--my mom thought it fiery, my boyfriend thought it tame, and I thought it was broccoli doing its best impression of a sidekick. Pleasant, but not stealing any scenes. For dessert, cheesecake arrived with candles and flair. It wasn't your classic New York wedge but rather a creative little tower: rich cheese piped onto a baklava-like base and crowned with kadayif crunch. The ratio of textures didn't quite balance, but honestly, at that point, we were already so blissfully full we just smiled, ate, and called it perfection anyway. All in all, Zou Zou's is a jewel box of Middle Eastern and Moroccan inspiration, a feast both indulgent and soul-warming. If food could flirt, this meal had me blushing all night. As a vegetarian I never get too excited but Zou zou had many options and the mezze plate was so delicious and the pita was almost like Israeli style! The menu had a bit of everything and great for my friends and I because we love sharing plates. read more

We came here for brunch and it was a solid choice for brunch - and now we need to come back for dinner! We started with their mezcal espresso martinis, which were really good. Their dip tower was super tasty and each dip was very good. My favorite was the aquafaba with avocado dip. The "everything" burek was also really good. It was flaky and filled nicely. Both the brunch entrees were decent, though seems like a bit on the smaller side. The shukshuka was tasty but the egg was cooked all the way through. I've been to Zou Zou's for brunch before, and I came for dinner recently. Both meals were excellent!!! The restaurant is huge and beautiful, and the bathrooms are nice too (although I wish there were more). When you check in at the front, the host will make you wait for a couple minutes and then call your name to escort you to the table. We actually had some confusion because since it was kind of loud, we thought they said our name and we followed them and realized the error when they brought us to a table for two instead of four. For our party of four for dinner, we ordered: Dips (5/5) This comes with unlimited bread (and vegetables but I don't think those are unlimited) which is nice. My favorite dips were the whipped ricotta and smoked carrot. Little Gems (4/5) A simple salad, but the grapes were good. Hot Kasseri Cheese (3/5) The texture of the cheese and the bread were great, as well as the presentation of this dish which they light on fire. However, the cheese itself did not taste good to me (I feel like I still tasted the alcohol in the cheese). Yemeni au Poivre Kebab (3/5) The meat was good but it was overly salty. I've had the privilege to dine in Zou Zou's right before Christmas. The place was hidden in the Manhattan West Area and the ambiance was pretty. My friend started off with red wine and I had the Road to Jericho cocktail (Grey goose, pomegranate, fig and orange blossom). The beautifully presented cocktail was unfortunately on the small side with lots of ice. Not worth for the price of this drink. We ordered the Chef's Menu which was $74 per person. We had a choice of three appetizers and we each picked the hamachi (I ate it all because my friend does not eat raw), fattoush salad and hot kasseri cheese. All tasted amazing and portions were family style. For the main entrees we got the grilled branzino and Yemeni Au Poivre Kebab. Both tasted amazing. We both liked the Kebab more. To end the night we had the Kataifi Cheesecake which was beautifully presented. We were so full that we only had a bite or two but it tasted very good.
