bro this sh!t is soooo goood I landed from my flight and got to my hotel at 1AM and was starving so decided to come here since it was a 10 min walk away im not even kidding i literally had a mouthgasm when that first bite touched my tongue. The chicken and the lamb was so juicy and tender, the rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the veggies were refreshing. I asked for extra white sauce bc im a fat b!tch and omg. portions are amazing and prices are affordable. Im sure there are more places, but here in LA the only thing i have tried that is similar is halal guys and this place literally blows them out the water and into outer space, far far far far away bc halal guys sucks compared to this next time I come to New York, I will definitely be coming here again, i would sell my organs to eat here. love yall read more

Ive been ordering chicken over rice from this place a few times already. But I'd never order from them again. The rice and chicken are well seasoned, however, I don't like that their rice is very oily. The chicken has good flavor but it's cut in very tiny pieces in comparison to other halal carts. I ordered chicken over rice for lunch and found a piece of melted plastic in my food. It makes me not want to order from this place ever again because of how unsanitary they are. I can't think of how this piece of plastic got here. It's not the first time that I encounter something like this in my food when I order from them. I've given enough chances... It's disappointing. I was pretty disappointed after reading great reviews then trying the chicken and rice platter $8 (not $6 - not sure why) just now on a Friday afternoon. This must cater to the drunk crowd. The platter was mostly rice, very little chicken, 4 leafy greens, a pickle, 1 falafel and 5 fries with white & hot sauce. The few bites of chicken had no flavor, the fries were super soggy but the falafel was great! Crispy texture on the outside and moist on the inside. First off, huge props to this man for being the first to give me exactly how much sauce I want when I ask for "extra white sauce." Usually, I have to prompt halal guys two or three times to get that extra squirt. My man here doles out a nice healthy portion on the first squeeze, but will also look to you to see if you're happy. For anyone else like me who loves their halal drenched in sauce, this is the place to go. I got the chicken over rice, which is $6 and comes with a soda or water during lunch hours (until 3pm). You get a choice of a yellow or a brown rice and the salad is actually real salad greens (standard spring mix), not just the chopped lettuce and tomato usually served at halal carts. You also get a small side of french fries. They're nothing special - a bit soft for my taste - but a nice touch to make this cart stand apart from others. They've also got the rare green sauce. I'm still not sure what green sauce is even supposed to taste like or why it's a bright green but it sure does taste good. The chicken itself is solidly good - not the best I've had, but nicely seasoned with seasoned grilled onions that lend some flavor and moisture. (And happy to say there was none of that carrot nonsense mixed in with the chicken.) The chicken was a tiny, tiny touch drier than I would've liked in a couple bites, but it was nothing a good dousing of white sauce can't fix - and certainly by no means bad given the standard halal out there. Overall, I was happily surprised by the green sauce and free soda and the chicken was good enough that I know I'll be back more in the coming months for sure. If it wasnt for the halal carts, I would be a hobo by now...lunches cost 10 to 12 dollars in the upper east side in Manhattan where I go to school (hunter college). I remember going to McDonalds two blocks away buying a McChicken and it coming out to be close to 4 dollars for one. For a Mcchicken!! But it's only 5 bucks for a packed hot delicious meal with drink at habibi's. Anyway, I've been to over 15 different halal carts in the past few years in New York City (yes I keep a list). And this one hands down is the best flavor, good portion size, and great salad. You dont feel greasy or too full after a chicken over rice. With some carts I dont feel comfortable after finishing a meal because it feels greasy. You can taste the spices mixed in with the rice with each spoonful of hot chicken over rice , dont forget the white sauce. Chicken over rice is like a drug. The first time I had it I got addicted because it was so good. I gained 10 pounds freshman year of college because I would go 3 to 4 times a week no kidding. I still vividly remember the day I think it was sophomore year where it was pouring rain and windy as hell. No one was on line but I addicted to the food fought through the weather and walked there. I said chicken over rice please...and the guy was yelling CHEEEKKEEEN OVER RICEEEE FOR YOUUUU MAAHH FRIENDDDDDD while smiling with the downpour of rain surrounding us. I had tried the famed halal guys at 53rd and 6th the first night I came here. The guy at this Carr was so much nicer than them too. The pricing is the same as the other halal cart, at $6 for a mixed grill over rice and $1 for 2 falafels. He asked me if I wanted spiced rice and that was when I learned that the color rice at the other trucks is just that, colored not spiced. Makes a big difference! After I picked my order he set about making it fresh right there, slicing the meat off the stick girl and cooking it fresh on the grill with onions and veges. Portion side just as generous, and so much fresher as he keeps the veges stored in his containers and only opening them when he is putting together the order. Only item I would ask for is instead of putting the white sauce on top of it directly, to give it to me on the side in a container. Had this for the first time today... So good! I have no idea how I'm a native New Yorker and have never eaten street meat like this before. I've been missing out on some great (and affordable! $6 chicken over rice w/soda or water?! Whaaat) meals. Got extra white sauce and some hot sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's definitely spicy so if you don't like heat, stay away, but for me personally, next time I'm asking for extra red. Portion was huge, actually got lunch and dinner out of it. Salad greens were great, not just bland iceberg. Some fries added just put it over the top. Get a forkful of lettuce, chicken, rice, white & red sauce, and a fry. Yep. That's the bite! Edit: I've had this a billion times since, and already twice this week. Get extra fries too and mix them all in. That's the winning move! This is my favorite halal cart from back in the days when I studied at Baruch to even now. The portion is very sufficient so don't worry about going hungry. I asked for chicken over rice and just noticed that he already premade a pile of chicken which made me a little concerned. When I actually ate it I was not disappointed at all. I would travel so far for Habibi especially late at night. The people who work the Habibi cart are super nice and always accommodating of requests and don't charge extra for fries, etc. They also have a bomb green sauce which I haven't seen at many other Halal carts. I always get the chicken over rice and the chicken is always super juicy. The spices they use to flavor the chicken also sets it apart from other carts. I think I have found my new favorite halal cart . Got the combo over rice and it was delicious. You have the option of having spicy or regular rice and I went with the spicy. It's not spicy at all. Everything in the container tasted sour, which I guess is their main flavor profile. I definitely see a couple people posting pictures of a different cart in the photo section. This particular halal cart that I am writing a review for is the one outside of CitiBank/Seven Eleven. This halal cart is interesting, they have a $5 lunch special which is a chicken halal w/ a drink. But, I've never made it in time for lunch special so I just pay $6 for a chicken halal with no drink. This location also had video surveillance incase anyone was thinking about being mischievous! Usually see younger guys working here, between 20s-30s? Food is alright, never really had bad halal so my review is not rated on the taste of the food, instead this location hella skims you on the amount of rice AND meat that they give!! And they always put so much salad for me instead, WTF ?? They also put leaves to flavor the halal.. this is weird to me because the first time I had it, I was sort of confused and thought this leaf had fell from a tree or something. A couple halals later, realized it's part of how they cook the rice. Take your business to the halal cart that is located on the Baruch plaza! read more

Don't know that this place is a "true 4 star" objectively it might be three but I'm comparing it directly to the Halal Guys I just reviewed a block over from this cart, and I have them 3 just based on fast and efficient service but because I like the food here better I'm gonna give em 4. So the offerings and prices here are pretty similar to the more famous Halal Guys the next corner over but there are more choices and they do things a bit different. For example, on the gyro sandwiches Halal Guys uses a Middle Eastern style pita whereas Habibi Halal uses a traditional gyro pita (smaller, softer, pocketless). Like at Halal Guys the hot sauce is very spicy. There are significantly more menu choices here which is good but I'm not sure if they ever get as busy as their competitors-- it wasn't busy when I went but certainly in the event of a long line of people like at Halal Guys the extra menu options at Habibi would likely slow down service. But again, as I write this review I have no way of knowing if it ever gets that busy to where this would be a problem or not. The most important difference between the competing carts is the meat quality. I tried both the chicken and lamb gyro and both were moister and better seasoned than Halal Guys (and I've tried the latter a few times just to make sure I wasn't getting them on an off day). For the sandwiches they also sautée onions and peppers on the grill with the meat which I think makes a big difference in flavor too as opposed to just tossing it on with the lettuce after the meat has been cooked and put in the pita. So yeah I've had better Arab street food for sure but Habibi Halal definitely superior to Halal Guys the next corner over. Plus they have fried pickles! I think I'll try those today. read more

Best food in the area For me, I passes by often, i finally decided to try. I went around by school trying to find an average lunch for few weeks... water(or can soda) with meat +rice$5 I ordered chicken rice, taste better than other place close by. I was digging for drink in the ice and i didnt get my favorite can soda inside, too cold, then I grab a bottle water. I will come again. Nothing too special for me, not dry with vegitable the flavor(spice) is good, and it is not salty or greasy! They also have carrots and cabbage, which is healthy. Really nice food and good portion especially the combo. A bit too much white sauce for my liking but my boyfriend loves it. Depends on your own preference but if you want sauce but not too much, let him know before hand. Nice and fast and very convenient. Super close to the 6 train and a couple different bus stops. Walking distance to the yellow trains and a bit further but still within walking distance for the red and blue trains. From non To after midnight.
