Will start with, if you're going to a strip mall buffet you already understand the basic food quality you're getting. But this last time we went tonight there was a roach crawling on the wall next to where we were sitting. We were so grossed out we got up to go pay and inform the host. All the food was cold, I'm just gonna start with that. Some of the plates were still dirty as well. The food just had a strange taste for some reason. The Sweet and sour sauce really made me feel nauseous. The place was fairly decent and clean but the food.....it was just cold, everything was. I was really confused by the egg rolls, how do you deep fry something, but burn one end of it? Some of it seemed as if it was frozen and then reheated. The soups....didn't try the soups because when I pushed the ladle in, the top layer wrapped around it like I was hydro-dipping a helmet. We tried it...but will not be returning. Went to this place only a couple of days ago. tried a small amount of food from the buffet. The food was cold. Tried some fried shrimp which was cold and stale. I then order egg drop soup from the buffet. I pour some in a small container and a long hammerhead worm comes out with the soup. Food: Since we recently moved back to the area, we were hoping we would have a new "go to" Chinese spot. King Chinese Buffet will not be our "go to". The food was not good at all. It was luke-warm and it really did not have much flavor. The General Tso's Chicken was mushy and a bit slimey. The spring rolls were old-tasting and were not crispy at all. In fact, they were chewy and tough. The vegetable lo mein was flavorless as they tasted like plain noodles. My wife and kids all agreed that the food was some of the worst Chinese food we have ever had. Atmosphere: Plenty of seating...not many customers in the place. The air conditioning system was broken so the restaurant was at almost 90 degrees according to the thermostat by the restroom. The restrooms were clean. My wife's dishes were dirty as the her spoon had someone else's food on it. Customer Service: Quick and very kind. She kept our water replenished. Price: For four of us to eat it was $43 (with water to drink), so for the quality of food and our experience, the price was considered high. Conclusion: 1 Star. Gross, tasteless food...fair customer service, somewhat dirty restaurant, dirty silverware...simply not worth the money. I have visited this restaurant on 3 different times and on every occasion I was overcharged. I always get my food to go. I told Fiona that I believe that he always overcharged me because I am a Black senior citizen and that I would no longer buy food there. The food is mediocre at best, the chicken wings has feathers and filament on it. The breaded shrimp was tiny and smelled bad, the crab casserole was not made incorrectly it had no celery with scant amount of cheese topping. The ambience is somber and outdated. But hey, I've frequented many a hole-in-the-wall dives that are diamonds in the rough & fantastic grub hubs. This shithole is NOT one of them. Three buffet counters full of fried, refried, and fried again tough, greasy YUK, and unidentifiable crap that I wouldn't let a dog eat. And then there's the "sushi" bar - not fried - but equally gross variations of imitation crab concoctions. No fish; just imitation crab meat and vegetables... Of course, after a look see around this dump, I'm certain raw fish would be far more of a gamble than I'd be willing to make. We ended up at this sham of an eatery because my elderly father, for some reason unbeknownst to me, likes this garbage. Had my father not been part of the equation, I would have absolutely walked out and refused to pay the ridiculous sum we were charged to leave still hungry & now feeling ill. I shared these thoughts with the lady at the cash register who simply smiled a confused smile as she, of course, did not speak English or perhaps pretended not to as clearly I was not a happy customer. Nothing whatsoever that could even be consider 'fresh' or 'healthy' but a great opportunity for someone looking for a potential food poisoning lawsuit, those who enjoy a good case of diarrhea, and / or anyone with a reckless disregard for personal wellbeing, desiring to exacerbate their health issues & needing a giant push toward the grave. We were surprised at the number of poor reviews, but gave King's a try on our last ride back from the beach. As buffets go, this one was definitely above average. There was a good variety, a couple of unusual selections not found elsewhere, decent sushi, and a selection of ice cream. The grill was just so-so. We used to frequent this establishment quite often but I will NEVER eat at King Chinese Buffet at 40/42 again. While having lunch with my mom and 2 sons, my last bite of egg roll contained this large piece of metal. Upon telling the waitress, she brought over the manager who immediately said they order their egg rolls and do not make them themselves. Never once received an apology. They then asked if I would be eating any more. I said no because I was obviously sick to my stomach at this point. So they said they could give me "a small discount" (50% off my 1 meal). My mother requested the info for the egg roll distributor then so we could file a complaint with them. That info was never brought to us. They immediately brought us the bill you see here and cleared my plate. The waitress continued to hover by our table as the boys finished eating since they were still being charged for their food. We went to the counter asked for the distributor info again and asked if the owner was there. The manager stated that the owner was "in the back working on some things". When asked to speak with the owner, the manager said the owner couldn't step away from their work. Then when asked for the owners name and store phone number, the manager said the owner can't speak English and all communications go through her. This whole encounter was the epitome of how not to run and own a business. I'm so saddened that customer service is not of importance here and more so that no concern was shown for how dangerous this could have been. It's the only Chinese Buffet in the area so they have a one-up on the market. Bathrooms are in dire need of an investment. They don't switch menus between lunch and dinner or daily versus weekend but they change pricing. That's really unusual in the Chinese buffet business. But again, they're the only buffet now in the area and the food is good but the rusted stalls in the bathrooms and the calcium and mold buildup in the bathrooms is becoming a public health hazard. Food is usually good and I'm a frequent customer but it's getting rather boring and nothing special is added to the somewhat expensive dinner price buffet. read more

Had lunch there today. It was horrible. I had to spit the egg roll out of my mouth! Foul, stale fish flavor. Chicken on a stick was cold. Dumplings were burned black. Sushi rice was like gravel...and I watched him make it and put it out! Fried rice had black cabbage in in it. Stuffed mushrooms had nasty chemical taste. Sauces on all the "Chicken and ______ " dishes were thin and flavorless. Iced tea was good. Waitresses were very pleasant and attentive. (I don't blame them for what the cooks produce). Hadn't been here in awhile, so when my sister came from WI, with her grandkids from the coast, they wanted Chinese food, so we tried this one again. It was horrible!! If I could rate it lower than 1 star I would. Right after we ordered, the power went out in the entire shopping center. They invited us to go ahead and eat as the food was already out and still "hot". So we did...big mistake. As we ate, I inquired about the Hibachi grill, which I was told was working because it runs on gas. So, I prepared a plate, waited for it to cook and as I was eating it, I put what I can only describe as rotten chicken in my mouth! It was horrible...made me sick. The food cooled off really fast and I suggested we stop eating it before we all became sick with food poisoning. My husband asked for a discount on the bill since we didn't have an opportunity to actually enjoy the buffet bar, but the waitress just laughed as if she thought he was joking and said no. So it was $54 for 3 adults and 2 small children to have one serving of food each..only 3 drinks as my husband and I had water with our meals. This is not our first experience with this restaurant because we live right down the road from it. And, I have to say, even when their electricity is on, the food is barely warm and I ALWAYS have stomach problems after eating there. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

King Chinese is a Buffet so it's not going to be knock your socks off. But when I get that CRAVING for all I can eat Chinese food, they are consistently good. The steam tables are very hot and they have a section for sushi (it's average) and also a Grill where you can choose your own ingredients to be cooked by the chef at the huge grill. I went once at an off-hour like a really late lunch and wasn't impressed, but if you go at prime time for lunch or dinner they are quick to refresh the foods. The selections are very good, there's something for everyone including kids and picky eaters. There is a huge dessert section too. There's nothing bad about the place, and the price is right. Not sure if I'm overreacting but here we go.... I've been to tons of Chinese buffet restaurants and never have I paid at the table. As me and my roommate were finishing up, the waitress brings over our check. As I get up to go pay, she says that we pay at the table, which was weird cause like I said before I've never paid at the table. When she walks away, my roommate said he didn't see the white family, that sat in the same area, didn't pay at the table. Then we start to wonder if the Hispanic family that sat in the same area as us was going to pay at the table as well. As we walked out, I looked back and the Hispanic family is paying at the register. I go back in and asked the lady at the register is there a difference between us paying at the table and the Hispanic family paying at the register. The lady said you can pay at the table or at the register, but the waitress didn't even give us the option to pay at the register. She just took our cards. The waitress didn't offer the other 2 families to pay at the table, why not?? One final note, after we got assigned a table the same waitress tried to switch our table to somewhere different from our original table which was in the same area as the other 2 families. Our table was in a separate room while the table she was trying to switch to was out in the open. I guess they were trying to keep an eye on us. Racial profiling at its worst. King Chinese Buffet was a place my partner and I decided to try out since we pass it all the time on our weekly trips to Walmart. Before going in, as many who have gone there as of 2/26/2018 would know that their sign is in need of fixing. I'm telling anyone who decides to ignore the reviews or go try out this restaurant to know that the exterior is not in good shape at all, and it only goes downhill from there. Upon entering into the place where we could have a nice relaxed date, we were immediately seated so the wait time was more than excellent. However when we sat down, the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink where my partner asked for water and then for me I wanted to know what alcoholic beverages there were. She didn't understand a first or second time we asked her, so I just went with water. While we waited for our water, my partner and I were having a conversation and another waitress came by, rudely interrupted us telling us that we can get up now, as if we were wasting precious time. This was the first thing that tipped me off. You never interrupt anyone, it's not common southern hospitality and respect. As my partner and I walked up and picked out our food from the buffet, everything appeared appetizing as other foods didn't. You really have to figure out for yourself whether something is going to be good or not from a fresh eye. The common meats like chicken, crab, etc... all tasted OK but not too great and somewhat lukewarm. The rice, noodles, veggies were on my good side, especially with the desserts. The pizza however, I suggest to STAY AWAY from. It is half cooked, very doughy and I could see unmelted flakes of cheese underneath. Yuck. But here is when things got worse. We overheard a man sitting behind my partner telling the second waitress we had (the one that interrupted us) about how the food isn't warm and if she could take it to the cook to heat it up for them. They were older customers who are PAYING for good food right? The waitress says "Food gets cold when it's not busy, when it's busy food is warmer." and walked away. WOW. How disrespectful. You're getting paid by the hour to treat us like complete animals? Take it or leave it I guess. Then the same exact waitress walks around, asks if our food is good two times and continues to stand in the same exact spot staring us down. This makes customers uncomfortable, and I honestly felt like she was eaves dropping on our conversation. I'm absolutely disgusted by how this is run, and by the looks of the other reviews, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS ONLY THEMSELVES. And no, I don't want a coupon, a discount, I want a good service and good food. It isn't that hard. Will never come here again. read more

How would you not rate this as 4 stars. First of all, it is only 6dollar something during lunch time and you have an array of asian, american, german food that is delicious and satisfying. The sweet desserts are good as well. The place is clean, the ladies are polite. And best of all they have a sauté station where you choose the proteins and vegies for the cook to sauté. The secret to going to Chinese buffets is that you go during its opening, lunchtime where the food is freshly cooked and the price is cheaper than when you dine in the evening.
