Hibachi 88 was right around the corner, so I placed an order using the Yelp app. I usually order Hunan Chicken, steamed rice and an egg roll when I go somewhere for the first time. I picked my order and got to work. I had a bowl with the entree, rice separated in a small box, and egg rolls in the wax pouch. The Hunan chicken had lots of chicken with just the right amount of zucchini, snap peas, mushrooms, and broccoli. Everything was quite tasty and the vegetables were cooked nicely. The rice was soft and not too sticky. The egg rolls were flaky on the outside with lots of flavorful cabbage and shrimp on the inside. All in all, it was exactly what I was hoping for. First walking in the place it looks very much like most Chinese restaurants located next to a food lion, until you get your food order that's when I realized this place has a good standard of cooking. I ordered two basic lunch specials that were priced perfectly, bbq pork with white rice and the general tso with pork fried rice. Both dishes were better than any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. The pork and chicks were cooked to order and perfectly seasoned. Great place to order Asian cuisine. Very few restaurants near us deliver, so we were excited to see that Hibachi China 88 has a delivery option. We ordered delivery online and it was delivered about an hour later. They listed contact free delivery, however, the driver does hand the order to you rather than leaving it at the door. The driver was friendly and on-time and the order was accurate. We enjoyed each of the items: Garner roll ($14.95), sweet & sour chicken ($7.60), and $5 delivery. Well, most of the reviews were for sushi which I did not get. What I did get was a poor approximation of Kung Bo Chicken. No spice, no flavor, utterly generic. The veggies used were hibachi type (zucchini, mushroom, and carrot) when it should have been a dish full of celery and peanuts. I was so completely disappointed. My order was wrong ... or course they blamed me. To insult they calmly took the order back and just waited ten minutes and basically handed it back to me. Upon getting home ready to have a mouth watering meal the food was disgusting 10 minutes plus 20 minute drive does not make China food more appealing. Everything was disgusting . They didn't fix my order so I called them and they said it's right so we did t do nothing wrong we checked order . I said mam I got all orders with just broccoli... I know what I eat and my family . Also someone has a severe allergic reaction to onions . So basically 50 bucks of u editable food and bad service and I'm sick and tired of these restaurants coming into these neighborhoods and just giving us whatever . OMG! Sooooooo good! I ran in to grab something to eat as quick as I could! I asked whats quicker, a hibachi dish or sushi! Sushi it was! They have BOGO rolls excluding the speciality rolls! That made me no nevermind! I love the spider roll, which is not on their specialty list. It only took about 10 minutes. I asked for extra eel sauce . The cashier let me know that some was already on the dish and she gave a side of eel sauce which they usually charge for! Good looking out! I got home, right down the street and jumped right in! We use this place for their hibachi chicken, it's pretty decent but don't order anything else chicken related. Weird boiled chewy creepy doesn't look like chicken or taste like it. It's bubbled, bloated and just weird. If u r from up north their almond chicken is nothing like what you get up north. This place has take-out and dine-in service as well. The restaurant just opened a week or two ago, so the place is new and it's clean. The service is pretty good, everyone is pretty friendly and accommodating. Although when the place gets busy, orders may back-up a bit and it may take a little longer to get your food. Every thing is cooked to order, so you don't have to worry about getting cold food or sushi that's been sitting out too long. For take-out, you can call their number if you have the menu on hand. Pro-tip: order by the number (ex. C21 for the General Tso's Chicken Combo) I think the people answering the phones understand you better. The food is typically ready 10-15 minutes, so it gives you time to get to the plaza and drop by the post office or pick up a prescription at Rite-Aid. I've gotten food here several times and every time, I was not disappointed. They've got a pretty large menu, a mix of Chinese and Japanese items. The steak and shrimp hibachi combo is my favorite. Another Pro-tip: they serve lunch hibachi all day-- it's just a smaller portion than the dinner size, but it's a good enough meal for a small person like me. The steak is just so flavorful! I think they use rib-eye cuts. The sushi here is also really awesome. I've ordered a bunch of the nigiri and had a couple of their fried maki rolls. It's so tasty! Most sushi places that have nigiri it kind of tastes bland and i have to drench the piece in soy sauce and wasabi, but the rice has like a sweet taste to it that brings out a flavor to the raw fish. I really enjoyed it. The sushi chef there can make a lot of different things and the presentation is always really pretty if you eat-in! Overall, I think this restaurant adds a good variety to the area. My husband, daughter and I moved to Garner last year. We love our new home and neighborhood, but we immediately missed having access to Chinese delivery. Luckily, I saw mention of Chinese delivery from Hibachi China 88, and I was excited to try it. After we moved, we ordered takeout from a couple of other Garner Chinese places, but none of them really wowed us. Then we tried Hibachi China 88. I can't express how much I love this place. The food is consistently good, even after being in a car awaiting delivery. Coconut chicken is one of my favorite dishes that I can't find at most other Chinese eateries, so I was happy to see it on Hibachi China 88's menu. And it is SOOOOO good. In fact, I have no complaints with any of the dishes we've tried: szechuan lo mein, sweet & sour pork, black pepper chicken, kung pao chicken, beef & broccoli, hot & sour soup....ok, you get it, we like Chinese food and variety. But the real reason I knew I had to Yelp about this place is the sushi. Frankly, I didn't have much hope that the sushi would be that good. They have BOGO sushi specials, and since the nature of this restaurant is quick Chinese, my expectations were not high. But while my daughter was with her babysitter one afternoon, we decided to go there to try to sushi. First, the restaurant does offer a nice, clean dining area, so kudos to that. I got the Lion King roll and my free roll was the Miami Maki. Both rolls were amazing! My husband opted for the Volcano roll and his freebie was the Crunchy Maki. His were even better! One for hot, one for not. Got home and realized that the sesame seeds were not on my dinner. *Really?* That's a first for me! My egg roll was crispy, hot and full of veggies. Quite a nice treat to get a crispy egg roll. The sesame chicken has a very strong flavor of ginger and Chinese five spice. I did eat some of it, but the ginger is still burning my tongue. Their Hibachi meals are horrible and way overpriced. The meat was too tough to chew, some pieces were overcooked and some were undercooked, no flavor, and the rice was covered in black pepper. Hibachi China 88 was the only thing besides pizza that offered delivery to my address when we moved to Garner from California in 2016. They have been our favorite ever since! Get ANYTHING with roasted pork and you won't be disappointed. Their egg rolls, also stuffed with roasted pork! Roasted pork just tastes so much better than the pork strips you often find in Chinese take out places. We've tried a couple shrimp dishes and the shrimp has always been good sized and cooked perfectly. And they do sushi! 4 stars for food- sushi is good and fast, but the "special Rolls" are a bit pricey for the place. The regular rolls are bogo. The hibachi is pretty good and there is a ton of food. They do seem to cook fresh and less fast food tasting as a lot of other Chinese places do.
