Clean, simple large assortment of options on the menu. Servers were friendly. Food was good. A classic neighborhood restaurant to grad a meal at while traveling through King City.

We just came from Pismo Beach and was getting hungry on our way back home. My wife read the reviews for King City Grill and decided to give it a try since we always stop by the McDonalds at the other side. lol When we came in, we immediately loved the clean interior and very welcoming staff. We took a booth at the bar and looked at the menu and decided on BURGERS. haha Yeah we were craving some juicy burgers and KC Grill delivered. I ordered the KC Grill and Rory ordered the Ronnie's Burger, which we found out, was the owner's name. The food was definitely a standout. The owner even brought us a complimentary creme brulee cake for their 3rd year anniversary! So I asked if 10/28 was the date, and when Ronnie said yes, and it's also HIS birthday, we added that it's OUR wedding anniversary. Such a cool connection. :) Well, can't wait to come back here when we pass by King City again!

Stopped by here because of a gas station stop and wanted lunch. The hostess was super friendly and allowed us to sit anywhere we wanted, as it was around noon on a Thursday and the restaurant had about three other parties. There's big cushioned booths that are comfy to sit in, and there's a lot of condiments on table for you to use. I got a Belgian Waffle, and it was large! All the portions here seemed very large; my friends' Fruit Parfaits were also large. My waffle was golden and crispy and hit the spot, and I appreciated that the syrup and whipped cream came on the side. The waitstaff were super nice. You pay at the counter after. A good place to get a quick bite with lots of options on the menu!

I was staying at a motel next to King City Grill located at 5 Broadway Cir, King City, CA 93930. I figured this restaurant should be given a try. It is only opened for breakfast and lunch. I ordered The Smoked Ham and Cheese Omelette. I was pleasantly surprised that they made the omelette thin and folded in half. This is my favorite style and it was really good. The home fries and green salsa were excellent. I wanted a cinnamon roll but they don't offer that. Instead, they have a wonderful stuffed French Toast which was absolutely fantastic. It had raisins inside and was perfectly cooked. This was better than any cinnamon roll I've tried. The restaurant is fairly old and appears that it was a TexMex type Mexican restaurant from the inside. They took over shortly after Covid and it's been years building up the business again. I found the restaurant to be very clean and well maintained. The service was excellent, as each server helped each other and worked as a team refilling coffee and delivering food. It is definitely a place to bring the family. Everything that I saw looked excellent and the menu looked great. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area of King City, CA

Food and service was great. Immediately seated. The whole staff seemed to work well together and take care of us. The BLAT was delicious. Perfectly toasted bread and the right amount of bacon. Plenty of avocado. Garlic fries were tasty (plenty of garlic!). My wife enjoyed her Zeus omelet.

First off, we came at a good time about 10 o'clock on a Saturday. Because when we left, it was really getting crowded. The place is nice and clean including the bathroom. The service was good unfortunately I don't know our server name, but she was the only server in the whole place. She did have health with another woman who filled water and coffee and cleared plates, and then a guy brought out the breakfast. The coffee was good and I had 2 cups. I was glad that they had raw sugar as most restaurants do not. My husband had the Gauls and crispy hashbrowns and wheat toast. I have the breakfast skillet and wheat toast. I had a lot of bell peppers and onions so I gave probably half to my husband. I probably wouldn't pick it again, but the food was pretty good.

On the road to Monterey so we had to make a quick stop for some food. This cute spot was clean and the server was friendly and fast! We ordered a burger with a side of onion rings, a parfait and a side of fruit. Everything was pretty good I wish we were hungry enough to try more than a side of fruit!

So Ill be honest here. King City is just another town we blow through when head North to south and vice versa. The gas is not cheap and unless fast food is your thing then there is no point stopping. However an article in SFGate changed things and based on a write up we decided to stop at King City Grill to see if the articles hype was warranted and wow was it spot on. The exterior is pretty basic and the inside was gave a nice dinner vibe. Service was friendly and prompt. The food took a bit to get out but was excellent from top to bottom: Dates Favorites. Bacon wrapped stuffed dates. The goat cheese played well off the sweetness of the date and the bacon added smokey richness. The balsamic added some acid and the chipotle aioli added more smokey richness. The arugula was perfect as a fresh peppery palate cleanser Ed's Favorite: Wow there really is nothing better than a perfectly executed burger. The patty was well seasoned and cooked a perfect mid rare as ordered. The bacon added more richness and smokey goodness. The avocado helped cut the richness of the gooey egg yolk and the 1000 Island dressing tied it all together. The bun held up to the this rich onslaught perfectly. This burger now ties with the Arbor Cafe in third place in my top ten burgers. Onion Rings: Perfect! I added them to the burger. Perfectly fired with a nice batter to onion ratio, they were popular at the table. A little too popular IMHO as hands kept reaching across the table lol Classic Eggs Benedict: Two perfectly poached eggs with a tasty hollindase sauce and Canadian bacon make for the perfect rich and salty bite. The hash browns were an awesome square of fried potato. We are always leery when there is alot of hype around a restaurant and were pleasantly surprised that this place lived up to to it. Now we have our stop when we transit 101

    Smoked Salmon Benedict

Eye candy, delectable cuisine! Hungry on a road trip, stopped in and had no idea what we were in for in King City! The artfully prepared cuisine is enough to make any self respecting Chef weep! Hubby was a little stingy on this one, usually gives me a generous taste for the review. So the little bite I got was enough to say, chicken fried steak is homemade, almost as good as mine, and certified homestyle gravy. Eggs and "extra crispy" hashbrowns made just as requested. When Hubby's pleased, I'm thrilled! Bring on the vegetarian Benedict. Note the artistry, the parsley sprig, strawberry orange garnish, generous perfectly ripe avocado, fresh sauteed spinach, mushrooms and... sun dried tomatoes! Topped with hollandaise, divinely created by an award winning Chef (or should be!). We both wanted to take pictures of other people's plates, but didn't, just a little rubber necking and saw others taking photos. Hubby spotted a burger delivered behind my back, "that's the most beautiful burger I've ever seen!" I couldn't turn around, so he described it, "glossy crispy edged bun with bacon gushing out on all sides, piled high with all the trimmings, onion rings on top like a ferris wheel and fireworks at the fair with a presentation of tempting fries in a basket". What? "fireworks"? LOL So we're doing a ping pong trip, and already promised to come back through tonight for dinner. So on the way out I envied the lady with the fireworks burger and we see a yogurt parfait that belongs on the cover of Gourmet magazine... what??? To be continued...

Cobb salad like I've never had before! Delicious!!! And the presentation... off the charts!

Heading to Healdsburg from Lis Angeles we randomly stopped for lunch at the King City Grill and were we surprised! The restaurant was immaculate with gorgeous yellow roses on every table and in the rest room, the menu is diverse, interesting and delicious sounding, and the food presentation and taste was superb! We met the owner who is a warm friendly guy who has created a special place. Do yourself a favor if you're ever driving the 101 near Salinas and stop for breakfast or lunch. You won't be disappointed!

The food was mediocre and expensive. A kids PB&J was $14! Service was fine but simple sandwiches shouldn't be $20+

At 8:06 he brought our food. And after that... nothing. No hows everything? Can I get you anything else? Would you like more coffee? NOTHING. No syrup, no jelly, no refills on our coffees. There were a total of 3 other customers at the time. Thankfully Amber came over to check on us. Brought us everything we needed. Fresh cups of coffee. Asked if we needed anything else. In fact she returned twice to check on us. The other server did not. But he was at register when I went to pay. I gave my niece $10 for tip to give to Amber. But the man stepped to the left and handed his hand out to my niece and took the tip. Our family has tried to go into dennys as much as possible as we'd been told that its possible it may close. Well with the kind of service he gives, I wouldn't doubt it. He should also not be a server if he doesnt know the menu properly and/or doesnt know how to be a good server. I will be sharing our experience with my friends and family. Next time, if hes there, we will eat elsewhere. I asked his name. Its Felix. We've been longtime customers and have seen Amber hustle back and forth BY HERSELF in the entire restaurant with almost all tables full of customers. ZERO issues. I hope her bosses know her worth to the place. And a high 5 to the cook. Food was delicious.

The drinks are nice and all the food is served family style. Between the salmon, lion's mane mushroom, and steak, my favorite was the mushroom. The steak was a bit more cooked than the medium rare requested. There's indoor and outdoor dining. The weather was nice enough to eat outside too. If you wanted, there are shades that can be pulled down to cover the floor to ceiling windows. You can also walk out into their small balconies to enjoy the view. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Valet is complimentary, but there's quite a few stairs to climb from the valet to the restaurant. There are electric vehicle charging as well. If needed, I think individuals can be driven up to accommodate mobility issues.

I wanted something to drink that wasn't sweet, so I tried their raspberry ice tea. They used a sugary syrup to flavor the tea, and that was a strike out. It was sweeter than a soda, so it went back and I swapped it out for a plain unsweetened ice tea. Then we tried the cheesy garlic bread, which we were really looking forward to. Welp, it came out with mozzarella cheese and a ton of corn. No butter. No garlic. We all looked at each other when we tried it. Ok, let's try their brussel sprouts. Those are hard to mess up - but sure enough, they managed to. They deep fried them to the point they were black and charred. There wasn't anything left of the brussel sprout itself, it was mostly crunchy charcoal. At this point, we all ordered something we assumed would be safe for our main. I got the sliders and a side salad. I had the salad but only of the sliders. The cheese on it was queso, like you use to dip chips, so it was ran all over the place and the burger was a grease ball. I won't even get into what everyone else had, but they had similar experiences. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there are other things or other times where this place is better, but it was a swing and a miss for us.
